[Q] Omega Rom Kit Kat 4.4.2 v19, SuperSu is not stable - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I recently installed the Omega Rom Kit Kat 4.4.2 v19 on my Samsung Galaxy S3 International.
All works very well.
Except that whenever I pick up / receive a phone call, there is no sound, no voice, no nothing.
To fix the issue, I need to uninstall SuperSu, reboot, and reinstall it as a system app and then reboot (currently 1.93).
Then the calls work as they should.
However if I reboot the phone, I need to re-uninstall SuperSu, re-reboot, re-reinstal is as a system app and so forth.
Is there a no permanent fix for this issue?
This is my first post and I cannot post on Omega Rom Kit Kat 4.4.2 v19 development thread
I did not have this issue with Omega Rom 4.3.
Thank you for your help!

Try a different super user management app but do search on it how to do it.
It may be a ROM only problem, try a different ROM, read or report to rom's thread

Hi Eatsleep,
Thank you for your reply!
I tried other super user management and it did not fix the issue :crying:
It is probably a ROM problem. I cannot report to the ROM's thread, I am not allowed to yet

You tried different SuperUser applications but the problem stays will probably mean that its rom related in your case. Have you read the specific rom thread if some other user or one of the devs reported the same issue? If you need a instant solution --> change rom to (more) stable one
@eatsleep i clearly have read your post, but as the question came up again i felt so free to answer...

Daily driver material?
Hi!
Just wondering..is this rom good enough for daily use? Is it better than stock 4.1.2 (4.2.2 is terrible btw) because i do bot know whether to flash this or not. Also, can you flash it using cwm as I dont really like the TWRP ui

I think it's stable enough for daily use. I use it for many days without any restart or any problem.
You have to update to 4.2.2 first (It won't work on 4.1.x bootloader)
You must know to backup whatever data you don't want to loose cause a full wipe is needed.
Read the first post for warnings, bugs etc. The main bug is bluetooth headset (if you own one).
And yes, you can install from CWM. Instructions on first post.
Also, read third post to keep it fast as long and as "hard" as you use it.

I think @Bestaki23 should compile with 240dpi density.
@sujith88 no, for custom roms you need custom recovery ( CWM or Philztouch)

How to get sources for CM11 for I9105P?
In "[ROM][4.4.4][UNOFFICIAL][M11]Cyanogenmod 11.0" the location of the device specific source code is given as https://github.com/SamsungBCM-Cyanog..._samsung_s2vep and https://github.com/SamsungBCM-Cyanog...ys2plus-common and https://github.com/SamsungBCM-Cyanog...ys2plus-common.
How can I set up a build environment for the I9105P? I already read (an understood) "Learning to build Cyanogenmod" and getting the CM11 sources with repo is no problem, the only problem remaining is how to specify the above mentioned two device specific sources. Can this be done with a local mainfest in the local_manifest directory? If yes, how does this have to look like and what steps are necessary to sync with these two repositories? Are additional steps specific to the I9105P necessary to start a build?
Vibration
So you said the rom is good for daily use... In the main thread I saw numerous comments about vibration being buggy and sometimes non functional. Is this true? The 4.4.2 cm11 by cooldevelopement has fully working vibration. So should I flash cm11 m11 (4.4.4) or 4.4.2? And in the m11 build, are there any other bugs apart from whats listed under "known issues"? Now Android lollipop is just round the corner I hope to have at least the second latest android version :/ 4.1.2 is starting to show it's age when it comes to app compatibility...

Hi, thanks for replying! I already know there is a 4.2.2 offical firmware for the s2 plus, thanks. I dont know about you, but when I updated it I experienced major lag issues, even after doing a factory reset, claering cache, reflashing, etc. Its overall a terrible update from the almost bug free 4.1.2. However, 4.1.2 is soon 3 versions behind and I was looking into flashing one of these awesome looking ROMs that are running 4.4. (Just love how AOSP looks :3) However, I dont really know which ROM i should flash
I think I have decided to flash a cm rom, anyways, but which version should I flash? I used cooldevelopement's cm11 4.4.2 rom in the past, which seems mostly bug free. However I switched back to stock 4.1.2 due to the old youtube app versions having the pixelated vid that the 4.2.2 stock rom used to suffer from. Is this 4.4.4 cm Better or worse than the older 4.4.2 cm I installed before? Thanks in advance sorry for a long message

before download and install this rom i wanna ask one question
is this rom have a feature to auto hide sim 2 icon on statusbar?
im on xt1033 and only use one sim so it best when the sim 2 icon is disappear
thank you!
I've came back to stock (optimised) rom after many bad experiences with a d2w/s2w bug, thats "swtch on" the screen while in a call. I seen this problem only in s2s/d2w kernels. I can see this function in your kernel. You know if this problem is present?
Well, I'm very curious about the audio features, but I, sincerely, dont know what are the additional audio channels provided by this ROM. What this do? Where's more noticed?
Thanks a lot, the ROM is pretty smooth. And I excited for the next versions. Congratulations!

The new rom, released today will reboot right after a complete boot. Custom kernel seems to solve the problem

Vibration bug
Hi,
I just notice a little bug from vibration, it still active even if i desactivate it in parameters. So, to complety desactivate vibration i used the silent hours from 00:00 to 23:59 with only vibration desactivate action. And it works.
Have fun, still a very good ROM !!!
Hello,
This might be a stupid question, but do I realy need TWRP for this rom to install?
That's because TWRP isn't working for my phone (xt1032, eu retail) . I tried to install the recovery in the second post, but I get a "boot header" text in red and then "boot-up failed" when trying to boot it from fastboot.
Can I just use CWM, because that is working here... ?
@up flashed twrp without any problem on xt1032 8gb euretail ,have you previously updated your stock to 4.4.4[because that's what I did as I comeback to stock] + use linux for fastboot and adb.I never managed to have working adb+fastboot worked for me ,especially finding correct driver and uninstalling the previous one ,while with linux it's only sudo -s ,then apt-get install android-tools-adb && apt-get install android-tools-fastboot
Flashing recovery "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img"
Yes, I am on stock 4.4.4 right now. Could that be the problem?
No it shouldn't be an issue ,as I've flawlessly installed twrp on 4.4.4 stock ,just to mention with CWM you might will fail to install Gapps[tested] ,so you will have to use diffrent Gapp package[search for old PA gapp I've used pa_gapps-modular-pico-4.4.4-20140916a-signed.zip works just fine --I've reinstalled the rom and used a diffrent recovery]
[side note I've 64kb/s upload ,so I can't upload it to you ,you need to make your own resarch ,for an old pa gapps].
Okay, so I can just install the rom itself with CWM? Gapps shouldn't be a problem....
Yes rom itself can be installed with cwm ,make sure that md5sums are correct before flashing.

Have you had experience with SlimROM KitKat for the OnePlus One?

I saw XDA's new video summarizing SlimROM features. So I checked the official site for the SlimROM developer and I see there is a Bacon version for our phone.
I want to stay with KitKat for a while until I decide whether I can live without the Xposed framework.
I need to solve the random reboots and UI freezing problems I have been having with stock 11s.
So my questions go out to everyone who's tried flashing SlimROM 4.4.4:
If you previously experienced random reboots: does this ROM eliminate the problem?
Is this ROM stable and does it perform smoothly?
Are there significant bugs?
Are you continuing to run SlimROM 4.4.4 or have you abandoned it?
If you are still running it, what would you say to other OnePlus One owners about the advantages and drawbacks of this ROM?

The answer to all your questions is this: read the comments in the ROM thread and/or test it for yourself.

One reason why I posted this thread is that I did not find any other threads on the vanilla SlimKat ROM. I did see a topic on a variant.
But lacking any further feedback, I followed the installation instructions at the official website which entail doing a clean wipe and then flashing ROM + gapps. Pretty straightforward. The result is very encouraging so far. The phone subjectively seemed to be responding more smoothly immediately after the flash. I've already reinstalled Xposed framework and related modules. And restored apps+data using Titanium Backup. It's a little less than 24 hours but I have not had a single random reboot and not a hint of UI freezing.
I'm very encouraged. :good:
I'd love to know what is causing the random reboots. A poor image install at the factory? A defect in the CyanogenMod variant that OPO is using? Was it just the clean wipe that solved the problem? (And by extension would reinstalling 11s have been successful after the wipe?) I'll probably never know. But I am reasonably happy with SlimROM anyhow. So I'm inclined to keep it.

[Completed] Sprint Galaxy S4 - Lost Usage of Stock and 3rd Party Equalizers

Hello, new member to the forum here. I've just been through an ordeal trying to get Viper4Android working on my Sprint Galaxy S4 SPH-L720 running stock Lollipop 5.0.1. I've finally given up on V4A (enforcing kernel). Anyway, my problem is that somewhere during the course of trying to get V4A to work, I lost usage of the stock music player and equalizer. I'm getting a quick pop message that states the equalizer is "occupied" when trying to run the stock music player (it just crashes after this message). V4A has been uninstalled. The phone is still rooted with Busybox and SELinux installed. I don't really need the stock music player, however, Spotify now will not run any type of equalizer (one is not even listed in settings).
Any help would be appreciated. I've tried searching XDA as well as the internet to no avail.
Hi, thank you for issued XDA Assist. I see you already know where your device's specific forum is so I won't link you to it. It's difficult to tell what you might have changed while trying to install viber4android so the best I can suggest is to flash the stock firmware or a custom Rom and start over again.

Hey thanks. I've searched through everything on this site. Anyway, I'm strongly thinking about CM. Little confused about which version to choose. CM 11 is the latest "stable/snapshot" build for the S4. However, I was advised that there is very little to no risk running a CM 12.1 nightly build on it. So, should I just go to the CM 12.1 download page for my model phone and download the latest one? Or would it be safer to go back to a snapshot CM 11 build? Everyone seems to love 12.

Advice Please regarding Marshmallow on Note 3

Hello.
I have a Galaxy Note 3 currently running the Vodafone official Lollipop ROM. I find it very sluggish and would like to speed it up.
Would I see any benefit in rooting my phone and going to CM13 or an alternative Marshmallow ROM ?
I have 2 apps that I use constantly - IBM Verse and VPNCilla, both of which I use for work. Would both of these apps work
on a custom ROM, as this would be a deal breaker if they did not.
If all of the answers to the above were yes, where would be the best place to download the necessary ROM etc, as it has been a while since I have done this.
Many thanks,
Simon

Yes marshmallow is more smooth relative to lollipop.
As for your apps it depends on the ROM, if the ROM you are using has a VPN bug it means you won't be able to use vpncilla properly ,just check known issues of the ROM before flashing to make sure
XDA is the good place to find development
