Hey, so I am hoping someone can shed some light on an issue I am suddenly having, in short my audio is entirely broken after trying to place a call in any rom. The only thing that restores it (sometimes) is flashing back to the JB stock version, and calling does not work there either (though sometimes trying to place a call does not break the audio entirely)
It started while I was using the Blue Lightening rom - had been working fine for weeks and then suddenly no sound without any seeming cause.
What I have tried:
-Wiping everything
-Flashing countless roms
-Flashing (and using ODIN) back to several different stock ICS/GB/JB
-Disassembling the entire phone and checking all connections and components
Anyone have any ideas as to what could be going on?
I was really hoping to wait and upgrade to the S5... but that's still probably a month away and I really need a phone that works.... as a phone
Do you have correct radio?

Yeah, and I have tried multiple radios.
Have you tried posting on blue lightening Rom site? Maybe you were using wrong recovery?

No, but as I said this is the case with all Roms, and I had been using Blue lightening for months with no problem.
Are you on at&t skyrocket? I was just browsing for info on blue lightening Rom in the search bar when I originally found your post? I notice when I got on the website that Thddude was dev so that perked my interest. I wish I could help you with your radio problems. I've been using new KitKat dirty unicorns Rom and it works great for skyrocket. Good luck on your phone, sorry I couldn't help.

I'm having an issue changing ROMs. I was originally a CM user, but I've been running Evervolv for the last few months. I decided to flash CM again yesterday. Everything seemed to work fine for a bit, until I turned off the wifi and realized I wasn't getting a 3G signal.
I tried rebooting, reflashing, messing with the settings for quite awhile and nothing seemed to help. Eventually I decided to wipe again and flash a Sense ROM. I STILL could not get a 3G signal. After much experimenting I wiped again and flashed Evervolv back onto the phone. Much to my dismay, no 3G.
Finally I restored my nandroid backup I made before I loaded CM and surprisingly everything works just fine again and the 3G is back to normal. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? I'm not a noob at flashing ROMs, I've had a few different ones on the Shift and tried many on the Hero before that, but I must be making a silly mistake somewhere.
If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it, thanks!
Unsure but evervovle had messed up my phone to when I first got my phone, i had to RUU just to reset... So I'm gonna say unless someone else offers a viable option, hit the 2.2 RUU

You said you nand back and now 3G is working.. So if you flash a fresh ROM now does 3G continue working or only while using the nand??
I tried to flash another ROM this morning, 3G still didn't work. Had to nand back again to get it to work.

I think your best option would be to run the ruu.
What recovery you using?

For anyone else who runs across this problem, going back to the RUU and rerooting your phone WILL fix this issue.

Searched the forum looking for an answer to the following question, but I could not find a solid answer:
Excuse my ignorance, but when I try and play video (one that I have recorded myself, or one that has been sent to me via MMS), the video sometimes plays and other times my screen goes black, the soft keys stay lit and the phone freezes. The only way to get out is multiple touches to the home key which of course takes me back to my home screen. I'm running R3V V2 but the same thing happens to my wife's Infuse running Infused 2.2.3. Is this a known issue with these ROMs, or is there a work around, or am I what I stated at the beginning of this post.... ignorant? Please be gentle.....
I found one answer with something about HD mkv's but nothing in regards to a fix or work around.
Any help?
Try flashing entropy's latest kernel...once thats flashed you should have no problem with video...if that doesnt work than i suggest odin back to stock

been there, done that. still no luck. going stock is NOT an option though. once rooted, always rooted! lol! other than stock, am i S.O.L.?

Well you can odin to a pre-rooted stock and flash to the rom of your liking...check out the super thread one stop shop-other than that i think your out of luck...but then again im no expert

So I have flashed cm7 and converted to mtd but my phone calls are borked I cannot hear anyone or they can't hear me it depends on i f I placed or received a call....... when I place a call I can hear it ring but it stops when someone answers.... I have flashed all 3 padded modems and a different radio and it still doesn't help... I can't get into download mode for the one click and I need my phone for work tonight...... any ideas????? Maybe I can go back to red cwm? I just can't find how.... I don't care how it is fixed or what eom I just need it working I was up all night and still couldn't fix it... I even flashed miui and meekos and same result on those..... thanks for any help

I believe its a general cm7 problem upstream. It has happened to me as well. Usually just cycling speaker phone on then of fixes the problem.

Does any one know how I can fix this without being able to access download mode????? I tried every combo of buttons and even through terminal but it just reboots my rom

Get a DL Jig from there, or even better... Get unbrickable mod! If you get UBM, get the jig anyways... still very handy.
Then just use one of my one-clicks to write back the stock bml rom.

I have an issue when I flash any Aosp rom. After initial install I have strong 4G but if I reboot phone for any reason I lose all data. My imei is there and phone number is there. I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong.

sounds like your on the fringe of strong lte coverage...the latest ril commits were suppose to help this. might try the latest pa or aokp build.
I'm on liquid rc5 right now and data is excellent. I haven't tried a reboot though. I'm wondering if it might make a difference if I reboot through recovery. Just a thought, maybe I'm just grabbing at straws, but this issue makes roms like paranoid kinda useless. Thanks for the reply.

i have been using paranoid since 2.13 and its been flawless when im in strong lte...never rebooted and lost data. if you toggle airplane mode on/off it wont come back?
Not sure, but I've never tried. I'm kinda new to this as this is my first rooted device, and im kinda learning as I go. I was on beans 13, then 14, but i can't resist trying out all these jb builds. I will give the airplane mode toggle a try. Thanks

Well I tried the airplane toggle and it doesn't bring it back, anyone wit suggestions please let me know, I really want to be able to run Pa 2.20, but if I can't switch to phablet or another ui its kinda useless.

I have the same issue with the new builds of JB ROMs. I do a clean wipe of everything and I flash the ROM, but when it boots in the beginning, I can sign into my gmail with data (even when I'm connected) and I have to use WiFi. Then when everything boots, I have no data and still connected to data (showing 3g) I do a reboot and it works for awhile and it goes out again. So I just went back to Beans14

I'm on liquid rc5 right now and everything seems to be working. But if I were to reboot my phone will not connect to data. The 4G icon pops up but never turns blue, and if I try Google Now or something else that requires a data it says no Internet connection. I have to be doing something wrong.?

Maybe shut the phone off, remove sim card, and turn on without the sim card then shut phone off and put sim card back and turn phone back on. That might help.

It has worked for me on 2 GS3's. I was on stock TW though, I don't know if that'll make a difference.. it has something to do with updating your PRL or something like that, I can't really remember exactly what it updates. But it did work for me, it actually gave me better service.

Ok cool ill give it a shot. I'm really hoping that it works. Because some of these pa builds are really nice, and I'd probably use liquid rc5 as a daily if I could reboot my phone and have a data come to back.

i tried the same method as well too, but it didnt work for me. i dont know whats wrong, i think its just my phone because when i flash any AOSP rom, it doesnt connect to data after reboot. i do 3x wipes and what not but still nothing, my IMEI and phone number is all there so i dont know what it is. anyone have a idea??

I have a problem with my i727 at&t, 3 days ago I upgraded to JB 4.1.2 with Kies, it's all stock ROM no root.
at the begining suddenly turned off and stayed vibrating with the dark screen, but was returning on.
But now only loads the image of Samsung and is vibrating and it does not happen there,
and try with change of battery but it seems to brick of nowhere.
any solution, or another good looking paperweight ?
Have you tried flashing the stock firmware with odin. That would be the step I'd take.

If not, I've had a similar thing happen to me several times before.

It's such a weird and unexpected thing in my mind that I totally forgot about the first time(s?) it happened.
The first time was either when the AT&T JB leaked in 2012 or when the official AT&T JB UCMC1 was released. Rogers JB RUXUMA7 is also sensitive in some weird ways.
When using the AT&T / Rogers JB roms always make sure to turn phone off by the power menu. As just pulling out the battery has bricked my phone twice (or more times when I was testing out roms) with at least the AT&T rom.
Rogers RUXUMA7 has it's own quirks, a CWM (both older and newer version) backup of this rom restored will have gallery and phone forceclosing. Even with wiped data & cache for those particular apps..
