[Q] Need help on unlocking screen - Motorola Atrix 2

Situation:
Artix 2 Hong Kong/Taiwan version 2.36
Haven't touch the OS for a year and wanted to flash the phone back to stock setting.
Followed the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650&nocache=1 to flash "Blur_Version.672.1.18.MB865.AsiaRetail.en.03"
with RSDlite 6.15.
Finally, the phone is able to boot but then Problem comes.
Screen lock immediately up upon turning on the phone and I wasnt able to unlock no matter how I tap, slide, whatever after tapping the key then unlock icon.
All I can get in is the emergency mode... unable to slide the top status bar down as well
Any help/ideas are welcome. Thanks!

In ME865 is different display driver unlike others A2 so you'll need flash ME865 4.0.4 fxz to make everythink working...

[Q] Atrix 4G can i get ICS OTA if i rooted?

ok , so i rooted my Atrix 4g running 2.3.4 . i didnt think i was going to get ICS so i was like ok ...and did it.
however now that i hear that it might come out on the atrix and that because moto was bought by google the chances are higher i was wondering if the root will stop the OTA update and if so is there a way to fix this?????
Thanks for the help i do appreciate it.
If you go back to the stock rom, it will not stop the update.
If you accept the update, you will lose root. If you want to root again, you will have to wait until a root solution is figured out again. And the fact that the atrix is an older phone and the dev community is shrinking, you may not get root again at all.
however accepting the update wont brick my phone? And yes I know its an older phone but im going to wait till quad core phones come out because my phone still can hold up to most duel core devices . and it has the finger sensor. Also I should mention I am still running regular 2.3.4 with moto blur because im one of those odd balls who like it .

Then go with the update...I don't know what you are expecting..blur is still blur, so you won't see many UI changes..
Well its rooted now...and I heard that if you root your phone and OTA update you can brick it and that is what I dont want

It is different for every phone. Most phones won't even receive the OTA notification if rooted.
ugh <.< well if it does actually happen ill figure out exactly how to UN root it and then get ICS and wait till someone discovers a root for that. im sure someone will.
I wouldn't hold my breath for ICS even if Google and Motorola finalize everything by June.
The phone is going on a year old and the ATRIX 2 is probably not going to get the update to ICS in my mind.
I would keep your root and if it does come out then throw a custom rom on and you will be happy because you have ICS and root

If this helps you - please remember to use the thanks button
i dont think its possible you can get the official ics if you are rooted. need to unroot first.
Still not 100% sure about how to do that anyone have a link?

How to revert Atrix back to Stock ROM Hi Guys and girls, I have put together this guide to help anyone who decides to install a custom ROM (Like i did), but dislikes it or finds issues and wants to revert the phone back to stock again.
I recently installed 'Gingerblur' and had issues with: GPS dropping signal frequently Security functions not working at all Dialpad not responding when used during a call Refused to set date to UK format (DD/MM/YY) Work and play dock not displaying screens as it should Tricked phone into thinking it was a AT&T handset (My handset is on Orange UK) And a few other niggles.
Please note, I am not saying that everyone will experience all or any of these faults, but I had them and it ruined the enjoyment of the phone.
Ok, so here is a list of what you will need:
Up to date drivers USB and PC Charging Drivers - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA RSDlite 5.3.1 RSDLite5.3.1.msi 7-zip 7-Zip Correct Orange SBF file (Select correct ROM for your network) Atrix Firmwares Superthread (Official Firmware Team of M3) - xda-developers
And you will need the USB lead that came with your handset to guarantee compatability.
Once you have installed the programs above, download your SBF file to a location you can find it on your hard drive.
Once the SBF file is downloaded, open 7-zip and locate the SBF file (name will read something like OLYEM_xxxxxxxxxx.sbf) and extract it to your desktop.
Open RSDlite and select the extracted file, and the 'file properties' box on the right will display all the details about the file.
Turn off your handset (or pull the battery) and press the UP volume button and POWER button together, and hold them both until the phone displays 'Starting RSD protocol support'
Connect the handset to your computer using the USB lead, and the RSDlite should display your handset details. It will either read 'NS olympus' or 'SE olympus'. This is fine, and is evidence that the phone is recognised.
On the RSDlite program, click 'Start' and find something to do for 15 mins.
The SBF flash will go through a number of sequences, and your handset will go on and off as the files are written. You may also hear the PC making the connected/disconnected noises for the USB, but ignore them. Don't mistakenly disconnect the handset or you could brick it.
At the end of the process, you will notice that the phone is turned OFF, and RSDlite is instructing you to manually turn the handset on. Turn it on and it should look the same as it did when you turned it on for the first time.
Please remember.... you are fully responsible for any changes you make to your phone's firmware, and I am only offering a guide to help, not a guarantee that it will help. This is a condensed version of the help I received from das8nt, and it worked for me.
If this has helped you in any way, then please feel free to click on the 'like' button.

wow thank you thiss will come in handy when i want ICS
Wait for CM9
Instead of waiting for Moto to release ICS, just install CM9 when a decent Atrix rom is available, my bet is that it wont be too long.
Still waiting on a decent truly stable non alpha or beta Tom. Any ideas? Or news in the wire

Prob not.... the unlock I don't think has anything to do with the OS. AND if it does you can call and get it unlocked again .( on the off chance)

ATT MB865 motherboard replacement

Can I replace motherboard ATT MB865 from ME865
u want to go from ATT to rest of the world ??
strange !!
m trying to go reverse
my Artix 2 soft-brick after OTA ICS 4.0.4,
I can not buy ATT MB865 with broken touch but there's ME865
there's always a way out of soft brick ....
this is Apex's guide to ensure you are not HARD bricked !!
if you are on ATT MB865 then go here and flash fxz
else if you are rest of the world ME865 then go here & flash fxz
remember you must have enough BATTERY (>40%) to successfully flash fxz
Happy flashing
After entering Recovery mode i see Motorola logo, triangle ! / Android not loading.
After Flashing Firmware Atrix 2 AT&T ICS 4.0.4 RDS Lite switch status reboot phone is bootloop, after RDS switch status (Manualy powerup you phone).
I can not flash 4.0.4 is not yet restore recovery.
redownload the firmware & try again
if u get triangle then press vol up+dwn & see if there r option or not!
if it is then try factory reset & reboot

[Q] GB to ICS, no wifi

Hello. I'm new, and this is my first post here, but I've looked around for a few hours and can't find what I'm looking for yet.
I've got two atrix 2 at&t phones, 1 still on gb. My atrix 2 phone is on ics and rooted.
my wife's atrix 2 is stuck on gb. I'd like to upgrade her phone to ics, but something went wrong with the wifi (just continually tries to connect, with the spinning connection icon that many have experienced).
So, I'm trying to find a rom that I can install, going from gb to stock ics (I'll unlock her phone later).
Is there a rom available for this?
Or is the best option to upgrade to ics leak #1 and then upgrade to alteredlikeness's Stock ATT ICS? (or another rooted rom version?)
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
What version is your ATRIX 2? AT&T?

I just wanted to make sure you were on at&t to avoid problems.
First go here and download the following FXZ: (official OTA ICS)
md5=2BF9CCD528C05D26523ACC5B38AC76C6
InlineFlashing_Edison_67.21.125_CFC_P3_APBP.xml.zip (334.7MB)
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Now read the NOOB guide on how to flash fxz using RSDlite. It is halfway down on the first page. Please follow directions completely! make sure you start with a full battery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
You will NOT be able to go back to GB after this update!
Thank you, very much. Seems to have worked flawlessly. Much appreciated. :good:
Just in case anyone else ever reads this while searching for a similar fix:
The "Motorola Atrix 2 MB685" (vs MB865) from the sbf.droid-developers website threw me for a loop, but I searched enough to where I felt it was just a typo. And like I said, this all seems to have worked just fine. My wife's atrix 2 ics build now looks the same as my stock download of ics.
When trying to boot into AP Fastboot mode, you must push the volume up & down at the same time as holding down the power button (3 at the same time), not only while the phone is powering on. The way it's written made it seem like I only needed to hold the volume up & down, after I pushed the power button to start it up.
Glad you got it going.

You can not install BMM on a CyanogenMod ROM (CM10 has another custom recovery built in). You will need to find the FXZ/fasboot files for your device and return to stock and start over (or just flash the system.img only).
Also, it helps us help you if you give more information about your device.
See here for your FXZ probably: http://sbf.droid-developers.org/edison/list.php
Also, see here if you don't want to use RSD Lite and for the system.img only script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108 - make sure you read and edit the files for your region's FXZ (I made that based on the AT&T ICS FXZ files).

You sure? You should be able to if you have a white led.
Have you tried pressing vol+ and vol- and then power on?

White LED usually means hard brick on this phone..
He can try charging the battery in a wall outlet.. But sounds like a brick. How did this happen?

That is a hard brick for sure.
It appears that you flashed a GB FXZ over ICS, you can NOT do that with this phone. Once you are on an ICS kernel (that is what cm 10.1 requires), you can NOT go back to GB. Flashing the GB image over the ICS one bricked your phone, because it tried to flash the GB boot loader over the ICS one, and Motorola set this phone up to not allow that, and will hard brick the phone.
As for your other question, you can buy a used A2 on Ebay or the like and get one with a broken screen and put the mother board into your phone case and use your screen. If you are not handy, then I would say go grab a used Google Nexus 3 (GNex), from ebay or something like that.
hello
thank you for the answer that's what I thought hardbrick.
My question is are what I just install the backup of my a2 on the new or should reinstall it all.
little do we run an ad because I have a atrix hardbrick super condition for sale for parts nickel screen no scratches and is in good condition photo on request.

Am I most certainly hard bricked?

1) Was on stock 4.04 ICS
2) Rooted the phone
3) Installed Bootstrap recovery
4) SOFTBRICKED by trying to install a Kitkat based rom (Liquid kitkat ) using recovery.
5) So apparently Liquid Kitkat rom was installed..........and was SOFT BRICKED
Got Motorola logo then blank screen
6) RSDLITE failed to flash FXZ Gingerbread InlineFlashing_edison_5.5.175.16_cfc_p3_APBP_CID285.zip
This part failed on the reboot (I understand now this was a no no)
QUESTION: Would FXZ 4.04 ICS have been fine for fixing this with RSDLITE?
........ Now nothing will come up...will not turn on.........
no button routines will turn this on.......
the only light that will turn on is the white let when the battery is removed and plugged into pc.
So is this pretty much hard bricked without a way to DIY fix it?
Thanks.
Try the following link to recover your device
Hi,
Refer this link by which you can get your device back to working....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108
It needs FXZ file to be flashed to ics again. Then root and enjoy custom roms.....
As per my very little knowledge it is safe to use boot menu manager (BBM) then Atrix Boot strap.....
Please let me know if the above think works for you... It worked for me .....

By the name of the FXZ file, it seems you have an AT&T Atrix 2. Sorry to say, but your phone's hard bricked by downgrading it to GB from ICS.

Thanks for the reply. Didn't I effectively try to go from Softbricked "Liquid Kit-Kat " to Gingerbread?
Since I installled Liquid Kitkat CM11-based.......(which softbricked me after trying to boot that )................would the ICS version of FXZ worked properly?
In other words, did I need to use a kit-kat based FXZ to recover from softbrick with RSDLITE?..........or just ICS?
Thanks

There's no official Jelly Bean for our device, let alone KitKat and hence none of the respective FXZs. So, yes, you should have flashed ICS FXZ in order to recover from the soft-brick.

You might be having International version of Atrix 2 or you might be on ICS Leak or GB, and hence you could recover your phone.
Downgrading an AT&T Atrix 2 from ICS to GB is 100% hard brick. Read around and you will get information on more such cases.
You had 2 mistakes:
1/ Use Bootstrap recovery instead of BMM to flash kexec ROMs
2/ Flash GB instead of ICS when the phone (AT&T) has already been on ICS (deadly mistake)
Hi. hard brickIn this way the device is to survive
Issue Solved??
Did your problem solved? If not you could give it a try the method I told you..... Mine is an international version... I downloaded FXZ for retail asian.... My phone was not at all showing anything when I click power button..... So if you tried all options you can give it a try...

You are not hard bricked. Your battery is very low hense the white led. You will have to straight wire the battery. Red+ Black- i brought mine back like this. Make sure u are using the correct fxz to.
