Hi first of all i am sorry for opening this thread.i did google and search in forum and did not found answer so i am opening thread.
i am using catalysm rom +franco r34 kernel.now my question is that does catalysm rom included optimized dalvik libraries?or should i flash it on catalysm?
Hi,
Nope they are not included: [FAQ] Cataclysm for Nexus 5 Help thread (second post).
Flash them and test by yourself if you "need" them or not, higher benches for sure, in general UI I don't remember with Cataclysm rom... It depends of what you want...
There is a ton of feedback here (with some search/reading): [MOD] Dalvik+bionic library optimization - Flashable Zip .

You came at this conclusion after how many time you have flashed them
Because you asked if you should flash them a few fours ago, so I guess you have not flashed them before, right?
Or you ask if you should flash something but you have already flashed...
I really doubt you can see a difference in about 2 hours and deduct that the patches are the cause, there are too many factors that could increase the battery drain...
But if it's the case for you, restore a Nandroid backup or flash the restore zip and you are good...

Well, it's Sunday so I had free time to reply for something you have already tested/known by yourself and you have already your own conclusion, I don't see the goal of this thread, but maybe it's only me...

I have tried cognition and perception, both awesome and fast ROM's from Designgears. Both ROM's stay on the cutting edge but of course that means there will be bugs. Both Rom's are updated frequently but most of the updates come via a full flash and data wipe. Personally I use my phone for business and need a stable, mostly bug free, phone that doesn't require me to flash, wipe my data and reconfigure everything on a regular basis. I simply don't have the time.
I recently switched to Serendipity which has been the best ROM experience of my phone flashing life. While not as cutting edge as Disigngear ROM's it is very current and extremely fast. There have been reports of small bugs by some users but nothing that I have personally experienced or effected my use of the phone. Updates to fix these bugs are release quickly and are always done as an update not a full flash. Only major releases involve a full flash and a data wipe.
Serendipity is extremely fast, even faster than the Designgear ROM's. My GPS works almost perfectly. The ROM is aesthetically pleasing as well.
I am looking forward to see what other's have to say about some ROM's I have not tried yet. I am pretty sold on Serendipity but if there is something better than I am willing to give it a try.

Please read the forum. As mccord said these threads get locked because the roms are personal preference. It is only a matter of time. Try them all.
This is my captivate. There are many like it buy this one is mine.
So i have a quick question for you guys once i make a back up with rom manager how do i use it later, after i have wiped my phones memory to use a dif rom and want to flash back?
Thanks!

You have to flash the rom you made the backup of prior to restore. Clockwork does not back up kernel and modem

you do not have to master clear for any rom...its an old wives tale!
its on your /sdcard dude....seriously. you should not be flashing if you have not read about these basics first.
How is this thread still up? Well gotta say pheonix IMHO is just amazing! Gotta love that Green! But keep trying ROM's till you find the one you like, always remember you can re-theme if you like the speed too.

I'll be the first to admit it - I'm a flash-whore... some days I'll flash 2-3 ROMS, then try various kernels, then restore my nandroid when I'm done for the day.
Some weeks I flash ROMs daily, some I flash a couple of times.
Can I damage my device if I keep this up?
I think there's some theoretical limit to the number of r/w cycles on this kind of memory, but I've never heard of anyone who's actually exceeded that limit.
..
Good. That set my mind at ease.
Thanks for both the question and the answer. Never knew how to ask the question....puts me at ease too!!!

thanks for the info!
great question
I have been flashing roms like a madman too. I guess I flash more kernels everyday. At the moment, I don;t think that this will happen, but in the long run , yes.. there might be some problems. Perhaps you should slow down when flashing a rom. This might give the rom a few days to get back to normal before you do a full wipe again.

Your statement makes no sense. Allowing a few days for the "rom to get back to normal" has nothing to do with flashing.

With respect to flashing.. As others stated, there's a theoretical limit of writes as with any flash memory, but I've yet to seen it reached. As for a rom settling in..it's settled in a few minutes after a reboot from the first boot.

I understand as I am also a flash whore but I think we would have to be some super flash ho's before our phones breaks. In other words I may have been flashing at least 3 times a day, but you gotta flash much over what anybody would want like hundreds of times. Also if your looking for a good ROM look at my signature, it doesn't disappoint.

Good day to everyone!
So, today i have managed to flash cm10.1 for my phone (htc one s ville c2, it the s3 model). It worked fine for the first hour or so. I have installed all my old apps through playstore and then i decided to reboot my phone! So I rebooted it...From that time, I' m experiencing a problem.Everytime the screen locks (turns off) either by it's own or by me (by pressing the power button), when i press again the power button so it can be turned on again, it delays about 10 seconds to do so.
In a line: When I try to unlock my sleeping phone, it delays to wake up for about 10-30 seconds.
Please if you have an idea that might work let me know!

If it persisted I personally would flash a different rom or reflash that one.

The battery life on 10.2 is pretty good in my opinion. I get through the day without any problems even with H+ activated and moderate usage.
That's good to hear! But I have the htc one s ville c2 that's the s3 cpu version! I don't think that the cm10.2 is available for my device! Do you happen to know anything about it?
Edit: I found the rom and I will give it a try possibly in a couple of days to see if the upgrade deserves the try!!
Edit: I found the thread for the rom but I can't find the download link for the 10.2...
Hey folks,
My mother has the tf700t. It was horribly slow (slow and very jerky swiping between desktops, apps take forever to load, etc). So I factory reset. A little better but not great and within weeks it was horrible again. So I wiped and rooted and installed CMB rom thinking her problem would be solved. Again, a little better but still horrible. Worst Android device I've ever worked with and I have a bunch.
So is this what everyone is experiencing? Is this that whole memory writing speed defect I read about? Is there any solutions?
Thanks

Going from stock to CMB you did a full wipe of /data/? Wiping cache and Dalvik is not enough. Post your bootloader and recovery versions

Thanks. I didn't think it was an issue with the ROM. More the device, because even simple animations are jerky. Just wasn't sure if there was an easy fix or if it was common. Thanks though. I'll check out the ROM.
You should definitely look for a custom ROM so you get better performance. You have to know that it will void your warranty
Good luck!
FOR THOSE WITH LAG ISSUES:
You will still be rooted using this method!
(I posted this on the oreo rooting thread in a reply but making a thread so maybe more can see it!
I was well aware of the lag issues that came with using the eng kernel, but it got to the point even with all the tweaks & mods (L-speed, kernel auditor, etc.) I was still experiencing severe lag (mainly doing things like listening to music and using snapchat at the same time, phone became unusable with alot of hangs and freezes!)I was just about to flash back to stock oreo because I felt that the trade off of Root for lag wasn't balanced.
But then I remembered seeing a post in one of these threads...might've been during Nougat days or more recent oreo, I do not remember, either way, flashing the stock BL in odin would fix lag completely. I was willing to give it a shot mainly because I was going to go back to stock anyway if it didn't work and to my surprise the phone booted! After everything settled after boot, I already noticed the difference, it was substantial!
Now, if you have already fixed your lag issues by other means then you don't need to read this post! but for some that still have tried everything and you still experience extreme lag, these are the steps I took to fix mine:
1. Was rooted on @jrkruse [Rom][ALL_CARRIERS_CRG2][Stock_Oreo_Hybrid] ( the lastest one which is CRG2) -------> this is the only rom I can say this works on as I have only tried it on this rom
2. Assuming you are already running his rom and not stock oreo (if you are running stock oreo then I cannot say if this will work for you or not, I would suggest going to his rom)
3. In his OP in, [Rom][ALL_CARRIERS_CRG2][Stock_Oreo_Hybrid], download the odin files (SM-G935U_G935UUEU4CRG2.zip)
4. Extract it and find the file [BL_G935UUEU4CRG2]
5. reboot your phone into download mode and flash the stock BL
NOTE: By the time I did this I was already on @jrkruse CRG2 ROM and already rooted, so I suggest the same to avoid any unseen complication! Flash the rom using his instructions, root using his rooting guide and then try this
This worked for me great! I can say that the phone is running VERY close to stock speeds and I have not noticed a single stutter or framedrops, I even tried remaking the same situation that would cause the phone to freeze and the phone did perfectly after doing this!
Let me know if this has worked for anyone else!
Edit:
This is also fixed my heating issues as well, the phone does not get extremely hot anymore
Edit 2:
along with this fix, I have L-speed set to 'Performance' profile and governor set to interactive, no other tweaks
Wow
Works great thanks for being the man

I did this on the s7 edge but looking at the s7 flat forums it looks like you can.
You'll have to be on @jrkruse [Rom][ALL_CARRIERS_CRF1][Stock_Oreo_Hybrid] from that thread (in the verizon flat forums not this forum)
Get the stock odin files from his OP (in the verizon flat forums not this forum) [G930TUVU4CRF1_G930TTMB4CRF1_TMB.zip] ----> this is what you want from his post
Extract and flash the stock BL from that zip after you have installed the ROM and rooted it with his root method
That was very helpful. I did use the suggestion you mentioned and gave noticed a difference in speed and lag. It is much more responsive
Huge difference no lag at all been running about a week now and it's running great thanks again
Just did this fix on my S7 flat and on first boot already noticed a huge difference in boot time and lag! Thanks for this!

No you are still on ENG kernel, this fix has nothing to do with kernel, we are flashing stock bootloader over Oreo ENG bootloader but for some reason it improves speed and decreases lag by alot
After running this for the past two days now, I can clearly say that it has helped immensely with the lag and the heat issues. My phone is running almost as fast as my Pixel and I am no where near the heat that I used to be. I am also using L speed set to performance and I have no complaints at all. I am not usually one to fall prey to the "placebo affect" where you just think it is running faster, this actually is.

I haven't updated mainly because I don't want to wipe data and reset up phone but I'm 99% sure it should work look at at the new instructions from CRG2, but just to make sure, reflash the stock bootloader after you update anyway

How did you do it? Did you flash new Rom then immediately flash stock BL or did you let rom boot first?
