Root/rom sch-s968c...? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok, so I know this isn't the I535 (verizon s3), but I have to ask.
I got the S3 from Straight Talk. It's running CDMA on Verizon. It says CDMA-V right on the box.
Now Ive had the I535 before and it was easy to find ROMS for the beast. But this, this SCH-S968C, I have never seen it and I cant find any
good sources to ROOT it. Or even find ROMs for it.
Any help would be great.
Many thanks! =)

as the post above said cydia impactor will root this phone in about 8 seconds .as far as the roms some people have been able to get the sch-i535 firmware to work but I don't know, all I can tell you is don't use ez unlocker to unlock the bootloader . also before you get to far make yourself the debrick image.otherwise you will be stuck with a hardbrick like me
---------- Post added at 01:18 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:10 AM ----------
to make the debrick image go into adb shell or terminal emulator
and type this
su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/Unbrick.img bs=4096 count=50000
.p.s. if it works for you could you please send it my way.thanks .

Also backup your IMEI after you root. You must be rooted 1st

to get the unbrick image you will have to have your phone rooted, and superuser installed .then using adb shell(available in the android development tools bundle from google) or terminal emulator(from play store runs on your phone)in whichever you choose .you would the type su hit enter.grant root access .and then type
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/Unbrick.img bs=4096 count=50000

I have the SCH-S968C running on straight talk. I rooted it and installed the CleanRom found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904329 ) and it told me Insert sim for the longest time. I got a tracfone sim and cut it into the shape of a micro sim. I inserted it into my GS3 and everything works fine. It still says No Service on the notification bar but data, messaging and calling work. Hopefully this helps!

So yesterday I was running cm9 and I decided to flash a different Rom so I went onto recovery and wipe the phone and then went ahead and flashed
The redemption rom. I went ahead and waited for about 10 minutes to see if it works reboot the samsung logo came on last for like 2 seconds then the screen went blank. So now I into Odin to see if I could flash the Stock image.. when I tried that the first step goes through then I go to the second step and it fails. Here are some pics of my computer and my phone. Never ever do that, get your sources from here, you might have repartioned your phone which is not recoverable. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709 go here and scroll down to return to stock.
L710 is the model number of the Sprint GSIII. Hopefully you can get it back with section 2 of the link posted above.
If that doesn't work use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1840030 and it will unbrick your phone.

Glad you got it working again. Just so happened to recognize the L710 model number from modifying the build.prop to get Google Wallet working. Always be sure that anything you flash for the Galaxy SIII is for the Verizon specific I535. They all look the same but can put you up #(*%*'s creek if you're not careful. I'd suggest avoiding anything that's not specifically in the Verizon Galaxy SIII sub-forums.

How do I unlock the bootloader on S3 running 4.2.1?

I have searched far and wide and cannot find a bootloader unlock method that will work with the Galaxy S3 that has already been updated to official 4.1.2.
The EZ-Unlock app will not work for 4.1.2 (only 4.1.1 and before)
The open1your1eyes0 method that was updated in February 2013 does not work either: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
What do I do? Until I get my bootloader unlock I cannot do anything.
Phone is currently Build Number: JZ054K.I535VRBMB1

Hi all.
I finally had to do a factory reset on my Verizon GS3. Poor performance and yellow factory mode text floating on screen.
I have obtained root access on the phone, however ODIN3 flashing a recovery image fails. My understanding is that I need the bootloader unlocked for that to work. Is there a reliable way to do that?
Edit: running Android 4.4.2

Your bootloader is locked forever, unlocking isn't an option.
If you want anything other than stock you'll have to use Safestrap recovery and modified stock ROMs like everyone else with locked bootloader Verizon S3.
Safestrap is deprecated. At least their site says dev. Has stopped. There's probably a fork of it on github somewhere, but any safestrap you find won't be by the original developer.

I don't know, I use the Verizon S3 ROMs on my device but it isn't a Verizon device, but I spend a lot of time in the Verizon S3 forum, I see new users looking to customize their device all the time.
Here's the download for it

Read this thread though, if you have encrypted your data, it will cause bootloop. Yes, it isn't supported anymore, BUT, the Safestrap still available still works.

I use it on Straight talk, my device is a Straight Talk S3 SCH-S968C that uses Verizon towers, my motherboard is actually stamped with the Verizon SCH-I535 model number, its rebranded as Straight Talk's device. No, you can't flash AT&T firmware. That would surely brick your device. You can port the AT&T firmware somewhat easily, they are mostly the same but have different modems and a few other minor differences. I can link you to a thread for porting the US S3 variants.

I looked up your specific tutorial, it definitely will not work.
That only works on the international model. As a general rule, never trust a guide unless it says it's specifically for the Verizon galaxy s3. It's locked down much tighter than any other s3 models, and many alterations that can be performed on the other variants will often brick this model.

Verizon [ST S3](SCH-S968C)Unlocked Bootloader?

From what I've been reading it seems to be that this is pretty legit, I tried it myself. Although if your on 4.3 ML1 or 4.4.2 NE1 your locked down
If you power off the device, then power it back on, you should see the words "Samsung" first. If they stay on the screen for more than 2 seconds, then it's locked down. If it flashes by almost instantly, then you're unlocked

I not positive about it being locked down with the sch-968c) because that's a verizon boot loader issue and this is a straight talk phone. I've been researching as well and from what I've learned, it can be rooted very quickly using cydia impactor and then flashing cwm recovery for roms and such. The apn settings may need some tweaking. I'm planning to do this to my friends phone this weekend and putting liquid smooth rom on it.

As far as I know any d2lte ROM will work. So far I've tried CM, PA and Pac-Man. All installed fine but they all suffer from the no APN issue which can be bypassed by using 8sms from the play store and changing the APN settings by adding Http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms. Handcent should also work.

Yes towel root works great actually the best out of the non pc methods for this device (out of my experience anyway) the phone runs on 4.1.2 and I have no access to a pc so I'm guessing that there's not a very safe or efficient way to install custom roms...

Sim/Net lock and bootloader is not related in any way. For remove the carier (sim/net) lock from your phone use GalaxSim Unlock.
