headphones - Xperia Z1 Compact Accessories

Hello,
I was looking for some headphones for my Z1 that have water proof and connected by bluetooth or jack. There is anything like that?

Lifeproof has a great thing for waterproof headphones they sound good, I've tested them on my phone that my friend used with his lifeproof case, they worked great:

Right now most of those are out of stock :/

I look for it on the sony website, but it don't say it's waterproof.

It is NOT waterproof: "The main unit and headphone exterior are splash-proof "
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/stereo-bluetooth-headset-sbh80/

If you can settle for non-wireless in-ear, then the upcoming Sony STH30 might be worth having a look at since it's fully waterproof:

For what it's worth: I just got my STH30 head-set and I must stay I'm not very pleased with them, while the sound is quite good this is my first pair of Sony buds and I did not realized they come with 7" left cord and 20" right one, I can't stand that type of arrangement (being right-handed I find it annoying to use controls)

Yeah, I dislike that thing about them as well. I don't understand why companies still keep making them like that, is there anyone out there that wants this? Other than that they are nice.

I can compare headphones from z1c and sgs2. From old sgs2 are really great and when i first time check from sony i was shocked:/ poor poor quality mega poor and again poor...

Westone are the best buds I've ever had the pleasure of wearing. These are not waterPROOF, but resistant, and sound brilliant. I have the Adventure Series alpha. They put some Sure's I had to shame.

Bluetooth Stereo Headset

Hi, I was wondering if any of you guys use a bluetooth stereo headset for your G2's because I've been looking for a certain kind. I'm looking for one that is wireless(duh) and it connected by the buds with a wire that's small and similar to the one that came with our phones. So pretty much our stock headphones, just without the cord connecting to the phone. I saw one the other day on a website but I can't find it at all.
Thanks for your time

Check out the Sony's MW600, it does the job quite well for me
It has got some tiny limitations, but its really good, for its price
Not sure if how it will perform with G2, but on DZ is soooooooo cool

I have had great success with Altec Lansing Backbeat 903 and they can be had fairly cheaply. While mine are 1+ years old, Plantronics offers an updated BackBeat 903+. Altec Lansing is owned by Plantronics or vice versa.

I second that recommendation. Those are great headphones especially for working out. If you don't really need bluetooth I've gone to the zagg smartbuds after getting tired of charging my backbeats and my phone from constant Bluetooth use. These just stay around my neck all day and offer everything the backbeats do, just not wireless and better sound quality.
I'm waiting on Bluetooth 3.0 to really make Bluetooth headphones really take off, with better performance overall (sound quality, outdoor performance, and 3.0 is a higher number than 2.1 duh). Have trouble at times outdoors (nothing to bounce off of). So my recommendation is the backbeats or the Cardozo s2's I believe if you aren't married to that form factor.

dont get the zagg smartbuds.... they are a ripoff. just like the rest of their products.
the best buds under $100 are the klipsch image s4's
I use Motorola s305
Got em off of amazon for less that $35 and they are very nice...

I actually use a Sony Bluetooth unit that has a standard 1/8" jack and plug my Shure's into that. The little controllers are hard to find now as everyone seems to want to bundle their earphones in with them.

I just found this and it looks really nice, not so sure about the clip though, but I can adapt. It meets the requirements I was looking for. The bluetooth is actually in the small device and the headphones are interchangeable with any one with a 3.5mm jack. I hope that it would come with its own set of headphones because they look really short and that's what I'm looking for. I don't want the hassle of having to untangle headphones after every usage, so I think this might be what I'm looking for. Has anybody else tried this before? I also wonder if it's completely compatible with Android.

These are the MW600 that Wolek76 is talking about in his post above. They are known to work with the Desire Z though some functionality like trackId is not working. I should be getting these for my Desire Z today/tomorrow.
I have been to frys electronics and best buy, and have bought every single one they offer at least once.
Ive tryed at least 20+ and every single one cuts off very often if I am jogging and the phone is in my side pocket.
If anyone has any suggestions be my guest and lmk please haha. Maybe something that makes you hold your phone higher or closer to your ears so the bluetooth connection doesnt break so often.

Yes these are the MW600 which wolek76 recommends, and so do I. Been using them with my Nexus One and now Galaxy S, and love them. The ear buds are very comfortable and have great sound quality, and if you still dont like em you can use any 3.5mm headphones with the unit. You can save 3 devices to use the Bluetooth with (either phone OR your BT-enabled laptop), and switch between them with press of a button. Good battery life and and the controls work with alternative Android music applications like Poweramp as well as Google Listen.
The unit did get stuck on me 3-4 times during my 6-7 months of use, by stuck I mean nothing works and you have to wait till the battery drains and it shuts itself off lol. Its ridiculous that this thing doesnt have a Reset button.
Highly recommend this headset, and cant wait to start using it with my G2 when it arrives next week.

Hi all,
Just wanted to second wolek76's recommendation for the MW600. I've been using them with my Desire Z.
The performance of the bluetooth headset is excellent - especially you you replace the supplied earphones with your own favourites (Denon AH-751s for me )
Only downsides:
No contact name on display (though the callers phone number is displayed)
No track name on display
Other than that they are excellent.
Cheers
Ash

Have you guys used the headphones that came with the bluetooth set? Is the quality of it good, or does it not come with short corded headphones?
Merry xmass everyone
Yes, these come with in-ear buds with three different rubber sizes. Headphones themselves are on a short lead and asymmetric (so that the cable for one ear is shorter, and the other one goes behind the neck)
As someone mentioned earlier, these are removable, so you can use any earfones u wish.
Quality of sound is fine for me, although I'm no expert on that matter....

How would you say the headphones that come with the mw600 compare to the one that comes with the desire z? Better?
Definately better!!!
Original htc ones dont stay in my ears whatsoever. Maybe I got weird ears but never managed to to get any htc earphones make stay in my ears (s740, touchpro2, DZ).
the SE ones actually go 'into' your ear blocking any external noise. Im very happy with that solution, but I know it isnt to everybodys taste/preference.
btw. I got MW600 for my sister...
she's got SE X10 and wanted a FM radio....
will check if these work any better with Android on SE fone (track ID, caller ID)
merry x-mass
Well, even though mw600 and X10 are made by same manufacturer, there is still no caller ID, and no track ID.
This must be definitely android issue then.
Just hope that ginger update with its new 'BlueZ' will help, when it finally lands in our Desires...
Fingers crossed

Review: Sony sth 30

Got my Sony STH 30 from eBay from this seller http://www.ebay.com/itm/351080069901?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Here is my quick review. I will be comparing these Apple Earpods since I own both. Remember this is just my own opinion and my preference.
First, design is like the other headset from Sony where the other ear wire is longer which is supposed to be run at the back of your neck. I like this style of placement than the earpods of Apple and other manufacturers. Whenever I remove them from my ears, I can just let them hang without falling off.
Design and Build: The quality of wire used in the headset is not that good. For me, it feels like it can easily snap anytime, especially the ones that run from the ears. They are thin and prone to strangling. Unlike the Apple Earpods where the wire is thick and retains it's shape (like for example, if I fold the Sony it has the tendency to stick into that form even after untying it so I need to straighten it up). For the design, Sony's design is nice, it's sharp on the edges and modern in looks. I prefer the looks of Apple earpods though because it's simple and nice but I love the aluminum part of the STH 30. The call key and ear cap design on the Sony STH 30 are made from aluminum (maybe brushed metal) and is really elegant. Controls are okay, but not as tactile as Apple Earpods. You will get used to it though but I hope they made it tactile. The volume controls are rubberize which adds the difficulty of pressing them.
Comfort: Both are comfortable to wear. No issues in here.
Bass, Treble and Volume Output: The bass of the Sony STH 30 is really nice, it's a bit better than the earpods from Apple. Both headsets are clear but I guess Sony wins here. The volume is pretty low though. Unlike the earpods where setting the music volume even to 50 percent is already sufficient for me to clearly hear the music but for the Sony STH 30 I need to set it up to 90 percent or higher. I guess the reason for this is the waterproof membrane that cause loudness to be somewhat low just like on their Xperia Z series. Overall, I love the Apple Earpods here because of the volume.
Mic: Very clear. Tried calling someone with the headset and she said I came in clear (I was near a band performance that time). I guess this is excellent. Apple earpods wasn't really good for calling when I used it on my iPhone more so on my Z1C now.
Price: I got this from eBay for 37 USD. Now, I wouldn't recommend really buying from eBay if you can find one in your local store but in my case, I need to get it from online since this isn't available in my country. Apple earpods cost more or less the same so.
Conclusion: Sony STH 30 is a very nice headset. I would really recommend it for those looking for a headset with functional volume controls for Android. Waterproof and very nice output. This is really useful when you're caught under the rain. The drawbacks only are the low volume output and the not so tactile buttons. For me, I still prefer the Apple Earpods for build quality and comfort. The Sony STH 30 is comfortable but not so if you use it for a long time unlike the Apple Earpods where you can easily forget that you are wearing a headset. If not for the incompatible controls of the Apple Earpods, I would still use it on my Z1C but i'm tired of taking out my phone just to adjust the volume whenever I take a walk and listen to music. Still the Sony STH 30 is better than most of the other headsets there including the stock headset included on the Z1C.
For questions, don't hesitate to post it here.
nice review!! really helped!

I bought them as well, here in Sweden they are available for 199 SEK (approx. $30).
My impressions of the sound is that they are great, the mic quality is also great, although some have said that I sound a bit loud when I'm using the headset, I guess that's because it picks up audio so well.
Unlike you, I hate that the cable is of the type with one short and one long to put behind your neck, I would have preferred the normal design with equally long cables for both ears. The quality of the cable feels fine, although the ones that go to each ear after the cable splits are a bit on the thin side.
When it comes to comfort, they are a bit thicker than Apple's earpods, and IMO not as comfortable. I guess it depends on the shape of your ears, but both for me and my friend who has an iPhone, the Apple earpods feel more comfortable.

Agree with you, apple earpods are way more comfy to wear. On the cables, i don't have complain on the main cable but only on the cables that goes to each wire and like you said they are thin. I feel that they would snap anytime. Thanks for sharing your experience

Hi, I was going to buy STH 30 but these reviews are forcing me to stop buying
I used Sony MH410 (came with my phone) Are cables worse than my stock one?
I read about sound quality but things you wrote about cables are making me worried :crying:
and my stock Sony MH410 falls a little bit easy from my ear but iPhone 5s Earpods fits my ear perfect. Should I still buy these?

Hi the STH 30 fits okay but falls off a little bit easy unlike apple earpods that fits snugly. However, sound quality in STH 30 is way better and calls are way better. Cables are okay until now (at least for my unit) guess it won't snap that easily just like i thought before but you still need to be careful (nothing's wrong with being careful). The STH 30 are really WATERPROOF and i tested my unit in the shower just for fun and it works. SO it's up to you, for me i would go STH 30 any day because of sound quality and compatibility of controls.

[Q] Sony Xperia Z3 headset

Hi,
I'm looking for a god headset that satisfy me. My first prob is that the thread is knotted. I'm looking for somethings that ca n avoid this problem.
I want use headset, because I think that using phone attached to head is not safe (for me). So I would avoid any kind of micro waves, around my head.
Where can I look for it?
TIA

I have the Xiaomi Piston 2, which you can find on Amazon for ~$25. Be aware that there are fakes, so don't buy anything less than $22 (I personally got mine from "Robert's super store" a month or so ago; look at reviews for reputable sellers).
All of the controls work properly on the Z3 - volume, middle click (single click for pause, double click to skip, hold to voice dial). Sound quality is quite good for the price. The mic is passable, nothing special.
I use an MEElectronics M-Duo its about $50 now, but as good as many $100+. Its very durable and can take some abuse.

I'm using the Triplefi 10vi 3 armature earphones I've had for a few years. The sound is noticeably improved compared to my GS3. This phone has a high quality sound chip. I know there are a few different manufacturers that make good audio processors for smartphones and would be interested in knowing what Sony uses on the Z3/Z3v. It could be their own too since they fabricate about everything besides the cpu.
Sony XBA-H1
Just don't get the overpriced Bose IE2, which started losing the rubberized covering of the wires in less than 6 months for me and audio sucked, compared to my M-Duo.

Looking for earphones

Hi to all,
I bought my beautiful Sony Z5 in november 2016. In my market the earphones are not included, so I'm using the earphone of my old Xperia S, and sometimes the Sony NWZ-WH303 together with a noontec cable with in-line microphone. The latter is a good solution but not so comfortable, in summer especially. Now I'm looking for something in-ear but performing better than old xperia S earphone. Which kind of earphone (with microphone) are you using? Which one do you recommend?
Thanks
My Xperia never came with any earphones so I've been using the LG QuadBeat 3 earphones from an relatives phone.
These are pretty good but I can't compare them to those earphones you mentioned as I haven't got them.
I'm not a audiophile but I'd reckon any cheap branded ones will do but be careful of knock offs on eBay; as they will sound terrible.
I have used in ear noise cancelling ones (old white thick flat cables ones that HTC used to produce back in 2011) and they hurt my ears and the sound quality was pathetic it sounded like you were underwater... The newer models I believe don't have the in ear channel model that have this.

I used CX300, sound quality is good but not material quality. Your choice..
https://en-us.sennheiser.com/hd1-headphones-in-ear-with-mic
These are outstanding for the money. I used to use the CX300 (which are a very good value for $30 or whatever), upgraded significantly to IE80s, then lost the IE80s and went back to the HD1s. Love them.
Though I did just get some JLabs JBuds 2 for $2 this week, which - surprisingly - aren't terrible. But, noticeable different between those and the HD1s, even without an amplifier.
i normally use sennheisers which i use pretty much everyday until they recently died.

I just bought the Xiami hybrid pro on gearbest at a very low price... Now I'm waiting for their arrival.
I'll update you with my first impressions!
Thank to all of you
I'm using xiaomi hybrid pro since 2 weeks and I have to admit that they are really good. I really wasn't totally sure that with just 19 euros was possible buy a so good product. The volume of music is very good, they are well balanced for any kind of music. I listen a lot of kinds but above all rock, rap and classical. The basses are not too emphasized like a lot of competitors products. I noticed that when used with Z5 the volume is a bit low, especially in loudy places, bus the soundproofing is well made so is not a big issue. They are very stable and comfortable also during long walks. Also the quality during calls is pretty good. In my opinion they are the only possible choice in this price range!
I really like "scullcandy" earphones, the bass they produce is amazing, been scullcandy customer for over 3 years now

I was a bit disappointed to see that SONY have included a pair of MH-750 In-Ear Buds in the box... which not only came with the original Z3, but also have a 3.5mm headphone jack plug on them..
Yes I got a 3.5mm - usb-C dongle in the box, but Ide hoped SONY wouldve made more of an effort with them..
Did anyone else (from ANY region) get anything different.
Cheers
Same here (Slovenia) - eu...
Last good headphones came with Z2 ?
Be glad you got something extra in the box.
I bought mine then it was pree release and got the worthless wireles in ear.
They drop connection and also have a sound delay in them.

Did some tests with my xz2compact and my good old beats in-ear headphones.
The HTC u11 usb c headphones work too but the sound quality and especially loudness are that bad that you can't really use them.
The U11 adapter works too and is even louder than the Sony one.
However i got the h.ear2 (mh900) as preorder bonus and prefer to use them i guess. At least when the question about carrying the bigger ones with me is not important.
Lets be honest: There will be no phone like the HTC 10 regarding sound quality. As they remove the headphone jack they would need to include a very good adapter or usb c headphones. Too much costs for almost every company. HTC includes some very good headphones and i heard razor dongle should be very good. But still i can live with that, it's still only a phone and i rarely use headphones (mostly on longer flights etc).
I bought the HTC 10 in-ear headphones to use with my XZ2 as my original ones were broken. The HTC 10 headphones work extremely well for my use with the XZ2 and those coming from the 10 should definitely use those. For those of you who haven't come from the 10, buy the headphones if you want a quality, cheap in-ear pair! They're around £20 on eBay.
Hmm, sounds like im not the only one... I also have the HTC U11, so I might try the dongle / ear buds from that.. as the dongle has a DAC built in... I guess I had hoped SONY mightve pushed something new out with a new flagship because SONY can be pretty expensive
A friend of mine told me that theres an offer in the UK with O2 for a FREE pair of WF-1000X in-ear buds somewhere
Mhmmm i'm using the Xiaomi ProHD, using PowerAmp v709 and a 24bit 192khz Flac tune and it does sound kinda similar to my HTC10.
I'll try some Benches in the future....
This isn't a bad thing.
MH750 remains a very good in-ear.
I still have my first, from Z3 package.
Working perfectly well and sounding smoothly.
Sent from my Sony Xperia XZ2!
