[Q] No WIFI/mobile location on all apps except google maps - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I use elasysmod 4.0.4 on s5300. GPS locating in apps works well, but I can't use location by wifi/mobile (even though it's enabled in location settings), except for google maps which I don't use anyway. What's the possible reason?
Filip.

[Q] GPS Issue with ViperOneS 2.2.0

Facing a peculiar GPS issue on my phone. 3rd Party apps can't seem to be able to use location services.
Apps like Sygic, Endomondo etc. are unable to locate me through the GPS.
On the other hand, Maps works perfectly well and I get a good connection pretty quickly. Help?

GPS not working

Hey guys!
I have trying to get a location with my GPS (no wifi, data or whatever) and it never gets a signal.
I have been waiting with the phone outside around 5-6 min and nothing.
Any ideas?
Cheers!

Settings/Location/ Mode = High Accuracy. Also turn on Google Location Reporting under Location Services and see if that helps. Without data you will need to save a map for offline use. I would install "GPS Status & Toolbox" from the Play Store and run that, it will also download updated GPS assistance data. The GPS Status app it will show how many satellites your device sees and how many of those it is locked on to. On my N5 google maps is sometimes not as accurate with Location Reporting off so I generally always leave location reporting on. I also leave the Location Mode in battery saving except when I need to use Maps or Nav.

GPS doesn't work in Google Maps - but is okay in Navigation

I've got a problem. When I open Google Maps it doesn't seem to activate my GPS so my location is decided by the operator-network and/or wifi, and is not very precise. I've tried to keep Google Maps open for a long time but my location is never that precise as when the GPS is activated. Also if I log into Android Device Manager on the web, I only get a location with an accuracy of 1.5-2 kilometres so that's neither located by GPS.
But if I then enter a route in Google Maps and use the Navigation, the GPS is turned on and everything is fine. It's the same if I use Sygic GPS Navigation. I've got Avast Anti-Theft installed on my phone and if I log into avast.com and send a location command to my phone, it's also located by GPS with an accuracy of 5 metres.
I've installed 'GPS Status & Toolbox' and set the app to show an icon in my navigation bar when the GPS is used. And it's the same as described above - when Google Maps is open there's no icon but when I use Navigation the icon it's there.
I'm pretty sure that on my last phone (Samsung Galaxy S II) with Android 4.4.2 Google Maps also used the GPS and I've got a precise location every time, so my question is how to get it in the same way on my new phone (Sony Xperia Z1) with Android 4.4.4? There are many times I just want to see on Google Maps exactly where I am without using the Navigation directions to a specific location.

Have either of you guys tried clearing app data and see if that works? Every once in a while I get that to resolve my issues.

i don't know about the gps not turning on at all, but it is a somewhat known bug on googles end when wifi is used to help location services, it frequently causes accuracy issues.
try turning off your wifi and see how it acts.
Yeah, off wifi it's more accurate. But yes, rooter, just cleared my app data and that did the trick, thanks.

Apps can't use location services

Hello, widgets, maps and other apps cannot use location. All services running, stock rom, all options checked, usung wifi only, no 3g, no gps. When I try to set few things for google maps via settings/google account/maps and location maps crashes. Other apps say cannot locate or location is unavailable until set by myself.
Same thing happens on my tablet and two phones. On the phones although location is working via 3g and cellular data.

[Q] Anyone having issues with location services?

I'm trying to put my finger on what the problem is, as it's confusing.
The good..
1. Google maps gets my location correctly, and accurately. Navigation is fine.
2. (Update) Downloaded CoPilot and it seems to locate me accurately on the map.
The bad.
1. Chrome seems to think I'm in Switzerland.
2. The "Odeon" cinema app cant get my location at all - Unsure if it's looking for GPS or just a location based on wifi
3. "Vue" cinema just crashes on open. (not necessarily a location issue)
4. Can't get any of the GPS testing apps to find GPS.
5. (Update) However, CoPilot still says it's trying to determine current position next to a picture of a satellite)
If it wasn't for Google Maps working OK, I'd say my GPS wasn't working. I'm more inclined to think Honor has screwed up with the implementation.
Anyone else having issues?
PE-TL-10
I only use Maps, Sygic and some GPS apps and all works correctly with the GPS and AGPS.
For ex. try GPS Test by Chartcross Ltd or Ulysse Gizmos.
