[Q] Back to stock - Galaxy Note 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a GT-N8013 currently with:
Android 4.1.2
Build JZO54K.N8013UEUCMA3
It is rooted. I cannot currently update due to the "software being modified". What is my path of least resistance to get to the latest OS from Samsung, I don't care if rooted or not, nor do I care if I wipe the device.

Bump.....

Just flash the latest firmware via odin. The are several tutorials here at xda.
To download the firmware go to http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

[Q] Custom binary download: yes (1 count)

Hi,
few says ago updated to official 4.1.1. after that I wanted to install custom recovery from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831173
but tried first stock one. Tried also to install the CWMR and still when I use rom manager to go to recovery, I see "android system recovery 3e"
now, after holding volume - and power, and proceed to download mode I see this:
Odin mode
Product name: GT-N8000
Custom binary download: yes (1 count)
current binary: samsung official
sustem status: custom
what happened ? after updating to official 4.1.1, I just used exynos abuse to get root.
How do I reset this counter (I down't want to loose and install CWMR on my N8000 (3G+Wifi) ?
Lmao.......... that's what happens if you root your device.........
Don't worry.......... look for the "TriangleAway.apk" file just on these GN 10.1 forums......... you can patch your Note and finally get it to reset the counter.
Enjoy!
So how do I get cwmr touch to work? Can you explain more details how exactly to reset, flash recovery please?

I'm guessing that you didn't read all of that thread, specifically the part about deselecting auto-reboot when you flash it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1831173&page=11
Right at the top of the page.
If you let it auto-reboot, a script runs that replace the stock recovery.

Ok, after I got some time, did the triangle away and current status is zero.
There is an official update to 4.1.2? Because after I click update it's just hangs there.

Getting OTA updates after Rooting

Well, this is My 1st post around
I got N8013 that have been rooted with CWM and flashed the rom with 4.1.1 Jellybean , since then I cant get the OTA updates
and the device is lagging wihile typing on S-NOTE app
any Suggest how to recover the tap to original statue to get OTA updates ? that may fix the S-Note problem
You could try 're-flashing' using Odin with the stock firmware downloaded from Samfirmware.
You might have to do a factory reset as well.
There is no OTA update available yet for the N8013
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda app-developers app
You will not get any OTA bec you have flashed a rom that does not belongs to your region so that wont work
No JB update for 8013 so just stick to what u are on and when the update is out just install that and your ota will start working
I have the update available on a stock 4.0.4 android gt n8013.
Had rooted through exynos without using the patch.
Device status is 'normal'. Can i just do OTA?
Regards,
Deborah

Samsung official updates are not via Odin either Kies or OTA or both .
Root and or wrong CSC is liable to block OTA update .
CSC changer wipes the phone .

I don't believe you can OTA if your csc and firmware don't match up. if you flash the correct firmware for the region that you tablet came with originally you may be able to OTA. I flashed the German 4.1.1 onto my 8013. I went back to the original ICS for my model and was unable to OTA, but was able to update to 4.1.2 successfully through KIES. my system status was custom tho .
Any update requires the codes to match firmware on the server .

Just root it, and install a custom rom. I find it much more reliable to myself being responsible to update my phone, rather than relying on samsung or your carrier.
Sent from a galaxy far far away.
Thank you for your tip but really I have a bad experience with rooting from my old motorola razr to xoom ( lag, freezing, etc) :/

I checked at sammobile.com for the UK 4.1.1 firmware under info you can see the pda and the csc of each firmware I checked my tablet also and they are the same as uk
That mean they match and I can recieve ota ?

[Q] Unlocked/Rooted Nexus 5 (stock) gets error when doing OTA Lollipop update

I have an unlocked and rooted Nexus 5 on 4.4.4 KTU84P running a stock image that was updated OTA.
I've been getting the OTA update all day but it keeps failing to install. The error says there is an issue with the file in the /cache/ folder. I've been able to update OTA in the past until this version.
I wouldn't mind just using Nexus Root Toolkit to update but to do that don't I have to unroot and wipe the device? I just want to update without wiping the device.
Is it possible?

There is an option on the Toolkit to revert the recovery back to stock. Will that be enough to install the update or do I have to unroot as well?

The tool kit will probably return you to stock and wipe your device. Skip the tool kit. Just flash the stock recovery in fastboot. If you don't know how see @rootSU's sticky in the general forum
