4. Select restore data.
5. Reboot
INSTALL NEW KERNEL/OVERCLOCKING
1. Download a Kernel from the Forum (Titan Kernel is great!!!)
2. Boot into reckovery
3. !!!Make a Backup!!!
4. Select install zip
5. Select the zip
6. Reboot
After that you can take a look on this:

problem restoring
Hi ive recently ran into problems with my O3d and i need to do a recovery on it. I had rom manager on it and i backed up everything before it went wrong but now all my apps and games and stuff has gone including rom manager!!! Ive also tried the volume down and power button but i cant seem to access the restore part of it only wipe data/factory reset. I know all my stuff is still on my memory card though which makes it the more frustrating lol. Is there anything that can help me with this or is it a case of I just have to start again??? Any help would be grateful. Cheers

You could install a new rom using kdz method then root it then install clockwork recovery then enter clockwork recovery and restore
Hello...
Nice guide you have. Overlaps with manbearpig's somewhat, but you have the video tutorials
For flashing CWM, I recommend using this instead. Prevents the common problem where ROM Manager shows LG Optimus 2x rather than Optimus 3D and the user flashes it anyway, bricking/bootlooping the phone.
You have only included installation of custom roms, You may add installation of stock roms by kdz method. first do this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473781&highlight=kdz then http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236 and get kdz from here http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=2
thanks for the posts I will add this tomorror or in a few hours because I am now online with my phone and it is to much to write

[GUIDE] Root / Unlock bootloader / CWM recovery Nandroid & IMEI backup / ROM Flashing
Here is a very extensive yet concise and user-friendly guide for rooting, unlocking the bootloader, setting up Clock Work Mod recovery, performing a nandroid backup, backing up your IMEI data, and flashing a custom ROM.
I'm a Professional Writer and find that many of the more tech-savvy nerds (love you guys) have difficulties effectively communicating technical instructions and how-to guides. I created this full walk-through to help those who don't wish to dedicate hours of research into flashing a custom ROM onto their Samsung Galaxy S III Verizon Wireless (d2vzw) devices.
Please say thank you and leave feedback if you find this guide useful.
Samsung Galaxy S III (Verizon Wireless) d2vzw
1. Root Device
2. Bootloader Unlock
3. CWM Recovery
4. Nandroid Backup
5. IMEI Backup
6. ROM Flashing
Root Device
1. Download Samsung USB Drivers . (http://tinyw.in/Fdozhttp://tinyw.in/Fdoz)
2. Install Samsung USB Drivers.
3. Download the Root 7z file(s). (http://goo.im/devs/invisiblek/i535/Root%20Debug%20FS.7z)
4. Unzip the .7z file to a folder of your choice. If you don't have an Unzipper on your PC download and install WinRAR (http://www.win-rar.com/download.html?&L=0)
5. Plug in the VZW Galaxy SIII via the OEM Micro-USB cable.
6. On the device make sure USB debugging is enabled: Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging (checked).
7. On the device make sure Unknown Sources is enabled (Settings > Security > Unknown Sources (checked).
8. Make sure no other apps are running on the device (e.g.; Android devices, emulators, tethering programs , etc.).
9. Open the extracted Root Tool folder from step 4.
10. Double-click on RootDebugfs.bat.
11. Type the number 1 and press Enter.
12. Follow the command prompt instructions (pressing any key when prompted and verifying choices with y when necessary). The device will reboot multiple times. Do NOT remove, disconnect, power-off, or touch device during this process. It may take a while.
Now the device should be successfully rooted with SuperUser installed.
Bootloader Unlock
1. Download EZ-Unlock onto the Android OS.
NOTE: At this time (9/25/11) only v1.2 is confirmed to work without problems with the newest OTA Verizon update. Check: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/32456-app-920-ez-unlock-14-easiest-way-to-unlock-your-bootloader/ for different versions than the one available on the Google Play Store. This guide will use EZ-Unlock V1.2 (direct-download: http://www.mediafire.com/?0oa6ylr8wskvr9q.
2. Run the Superuser app one time (installed during the Root Device process).
3. Open EZ-Unlock (Allow Superuser access if prompted).
4. Press the Unlock button.
5. Press Yes to confirm unlocking the bootloader.
You should hear the "That was easy" audio clip if your sound is turned on. The Device Status should now read "Unlocked".
CWM Recovery
1. Download and install EZ-Recovery onto the Android OS (Search the Google Play Store for "EZ-Recovery").
2. Open EZ-Recovery (Allow Superuser access if prompted)
3. Pan over to Recovery.
4. Select the Recovery radio option.
5. Tap the associated drop-down and select CWM 6.0.1.0.
6. Tap the Flash! button.
A pop-up notification should indicate that the CWM flash was successful.
Tapping Reboot Recovery will now allow you to boot into the CWM if you wish to flash custom ROMs, make backups, etc.
Nandroid Backup
1. Boot into CWM recovery (One method to do this is to use the EZ-Recovery option to Reboot Recovery, as mentioned in step 6, above).
2. Select Backup to External SD Card.
3. Process will take a few minutes but once complete you will have the backup stored on your external SD Card. Recommend backing this up somewhere besides your device / SD Card as well.
You now have a full backup (nandroid backup) of you device.
IMEI Backup
1. Download Connectbot from the Google Play store onto the Android OS.
2. Open Connectbot (Allow Superuser access if prompted).
3. Select local from the dropdown menu.
4. Type in a nickname (this is not important).
5. Tap the enter <-- key.
6. Once connected, type "su" and tap the enter <-- key.
7. Tap Allow if prompted to grant Superuser access.
8. Type "dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p11 of=/sdcard/efs.bin" and tap the enter <-- key.
9. Once the process completes you may close Connectbot.
10. Now navigate to your internal SD card (using a file browser).
11. Copy the newly created "efs.bin" file to your external SD card and/or another location for safe keeping.
You now have a backup of your IMEI information.
ROM Flashing
1. Determine which ROM you wish to install (See Section 3 and Section 4 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762709).
2. I use the ParanoidAndroid Jelly Bean ROM and have found no problems with it.
3. Download one of the ROMs to your internal SD card (this will be a .zip file).
4. If you choose a CM10/AOSP/AOKP like ParanoidAndroid you should also download to the internal SD card one of the associated Gapps file as found in the thread linked in step one. This file bundles all of the Google Apps and is highly recommended.
5. Using the EZ-Recovery app (see the CWM Recovery section, above) reboot into the CWM Recovery tool.
6. Select wipe data/factory reset to wipe / reset device.
7. Navigate to the advanced menu.
8. Select Wipe Dalvik Cache to wipe the Dalvik Cache.
9. Return to the previous menu screen.
10. Select install zip from sdcard.
11. Select choose zip from sdcard.
12. Navigate to and select the .zip ROM file chosen from step 3, above.
13. Once the process completes the ROM should be successfully installed.
14. If applicable (see step 4, above) repeat steps 10-11 and select the Gapps file to install instead.
You can now reboot the phone and it should load the newly installed ROM.
Wonderful guide! Almost deserves a sticky, but the IMEI backup procedure you listed is incomplete. Bits of EFS data exist on several other partitions that need to be backed up in order to have a complete IMEI backup. You can find more information here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255
I implore you to update this wonderfully written guide so that newcomers can backup their IMEI in the fullest manner possible. Simply backing up EFS will result in roaming issues upon restore. This is what I have come to understand though I have no first hand experience. I can say that I feel completely safe having performed the backups listed in the thread I linked.
Thanks again for giving new users a great guide!

Thanks for the feedback! I hadn't realized additional EFS data existed. I'll update the guide with this information.
I believe there is now officially more guides than actual development in this section.
I would have to say though, this is a nice concise, well written guide in layman's terms. Once I get my S3 this is where I'll go. Thanks for this.
i wanted to thank you for making this guide. I have rooted plenty of other phones but something about the GS3 scared me. i think it was all the troubles some people had in the begining. i used your guide to a T, and i am very happy to say that my phone is now running jellybean
Can we get this stickied please? Couldn't find any guides on the first 2 pages earlier today.
so I am having an issue. When I boot into clockwork "Nandroid Backup" isn't even in the list. I followed everything. any ideas?
Without 'reboot nvbackup' your imei advice is incomplete.

The latest official firmware update for Nexus devices (Android 4.2.2) was released not too long ago, and now you can also root your Nexus 7 on this firmware as well. Once the process is complete, you will be able to install custom roms, change the cpu speeds of your device to make it faster, and even block ads.
Below are the steps to root Android 4.2.2 on the Nexus 7. But before going ahead, the user must note that although the procedure is a tested one, I will not be held responsible for anything that goes wrong. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK!
1. Ensure your tablet is running Android 4.2.2. Check by going into Settings > About Tablet > Android Version. If you are not, click Settings > About Tablet > System Updates > Check For Update.
1. Ensure that you have the Android SDK installed on your computer. If you don't, click on this link: http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-set-up-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows-tutorial/
2. Enable USB Debugging mode. Go to Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
3. Backup all your personal information on your device. You can use App Backup & Restore to backup all your apps. Use SMS Backup and Restore to backup messages. You can backup your contacts using Gmail.
4. Make your your Nexus 7 is charged with at least 50% of power.
5. Please disable all the Antivirus programs running on your computer as the may interrupt the rooting process.

5. Now switch off your tablet and boot into Fastboot Mode.
Boot your device into Fastboot mode by pressing and holding Volume Down+Power buttons together until Fastboot Menu screens turns up.
6. Now go into the android-sdk-windows\platform-tools directory on your computer and Open Command Prompt.
To Open Command Prompt, press and hold Right-Shift button and click in the empty space on the screen and select Open Command Prompt here.
7. Type fastboot oem unlock and follow instructions on the Nexus. Note: This will wipe all your data, last chance to make a backup and move it to your computer!
8. Now type the following command and press enter:
fastboot flash recovery CWM-grouper-recovery.img (If adb cannot find the file, rename it to CWM-grouper-recovery.img)
Once this is done, choose RECOVERY from the Fastboot Menu and enter into Recovery Mode.
9. In advanced options, select mount SD card and copy the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip from the backup on the computer to the Nexus.
10. Boot to Recovery mode and select Flash zip from SD card. Select Choose zip from sdcard.
Note: In the Recovery Mode, use Volume keys to navigate and Power button to select.
11. Now navigate to the UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.04.zip that you copied to your SD card in step 3.

Rom for the 4010X not D, X!!
Normal flashing instructions, full wipes, install, flash enclosed CWM backup, flash a few zips..etc... included in the readme file. Not my rom, found it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kere5VobLC0 and not my phone, so risked it. Works great and better than the xperia rom and stock anyway. Still need root uninstaller as bloat even on this one. After bloatware removal, there is maybe 130meg left ish, in system memory...

Did you had clockworkmod installed on the phone? If so, how did you installed it? Since the recovery.img way didn't work for me...The phone restarted, but no cwm at all...
Or you installed it without cwm?
Thanks in advance!

Custom Rom for Alcatel T’POP
Custom Rom for Alcatel Onetouch (OT) T’pop
Custom Rom for Alcatel T’pop have been very elusive. Searching it online can be very frustrating but you don’t have to worry any more. This rom is Cynogenmod (Xperia Z) rom modded to work with Alcatel Onetouch (OT) T’Pop (4010A, 4010X, 4010D, 4010E) also known in some regions as Alcatel Glory 2S. This Custom Rom has been modded to use m2sd which increases alcatel t’pop internal memory by using the sd card to store Apps.
I wrote this article to guide you through the installation methods, but first you have to have your phone rooted and CWM recovery installed.
How to Root Alcatel (OT) T’pop
To root your Alcatel T’pop you must have a pc running Windows. Since Window does not have Alcatel drivers, download them from here.. After download execute the file and reboot your pc if necessary.
The next step is to install Ishuaji root. download from this link
The next step is to turn ON the USB debugging option on your device opening Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging.
Open Ishuaji.
Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
5. Now hit that little green button which appears in the bottom-right corner of the app.
6. It should start rooting your device.
7. You should now be rooted! Excellent! Your device’s been successfully rooted and you’re all set to enjoy the customization of your android.
Installing CWM
Download Cwm from here (link below)
Extract the archive which contains two files (mobile uncle tools.apk and recovery.img) . Install mobile uncle and make sure to move recovery.img to the root of your sd card.
open the mobile uncle application and grant it superuser permissions. Just press the left option (that is the “allow button”.
Click continue then choose “flash recovery from sd card”. Choose recovery.img. Well-done you now have cwm 5 installed on your phone.
Removing Chinese Super User
Download Super User (google for it/playstore/or use the forum)
Switch off your phone.
Press the volume up button and the power on button until the phone enters recovery mode.
Select “Install Zip From Sd Card” option and go to the downloaded super user.zip. Thats All.

Hey guys, I'm trying to root this Alcatel 4010X and I'm following the instructions.
I installed the usb drivers to my laptop, installed ishuaji_root.exe an ran it..... Followed all the instructions and now my phone has restarted but has a lot of chinese writing - different apps etc, even though the phone language is still UK
I'm struggling with the next bit about installing CWM - I've installed it to my laptop via this https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-clockworkmod/ link, but I'm unsure what I need to do now....
Does anyone know the newest version of android that will work on this handset?

There is no newer version. Only skinned versions of those newer ROMs.
