I plan on purchasing an Asus Transformer Pad 300, or perhaps a Prime/Infinity 700 should I manage to scrape up the extra cash, to serve as a replacement for my current laptop. Android more than satisfies my daily use and, with a tablet instead of a laptop, there is also an option for some portability plus using a tablet is much more comfortable than using a laptop when sitting on a sofa. However, there are two things I shall miss from Windows...Microsoft Office and Steam. I've heard of an application called Splashtop which allows you to access your PC remotely. Using this, will I be able to run Microsoft Office and Steam games such as Fallout: New Vegas on my Asus tab? Also, is it compatible with the Transformers' keyboard docks? Will I, for example, be able to type in Office using the keyboard dock and then save it to my PC or use the keyboard dock plus a USB mouse as a means of control for games such as Fallout?
Splashtop Play Store Page Is Here
EDIT 1: I forgot to ask whether or not the application also transmit sound? Would I be able to open iTunes on the PC and play music from there, for example, on my tab?
EDIT 2: What is the general performance of the streaming like over a decent WiFi broadband connection? If I were to stream Fallout: New Vegas, for example, would I get around 30fps?

Having used splash top on iOS as well as android, I would say that your hopes are very very high and I would in no expect to play games.

Well, that's what I have seen demonstrations of it doing on YouTube? Plus, pictures of the app on the store also run games as well. Would it at least fair running Microsoft Office remotely and allow me to type using the keyboard dock?
Yes you can play games on it. I played Runescape (don't laugh ) on my device without lagg.
Yes it has an option so you can transmit sounds.
And performance is just great.

Thank you. Will it work with the keyboard dock and a USB mouse from an Asus Transformer?

I think your internet speed must be quite slow, as it uses your internet network.
Anyone know whether or not Splashtop will work with USB mouse and the keyboard dock of the Transformer Pad 300?
I currently use the Win8 Metro Testbed edition of Splashtop from my Prime to my MacBook running Windows 8.
Under normal usage, the OS stutters, but it is not too bad. You are never getting the feeling that you are actually using Win8 with your Prime but that's ok. (Same applies to win7 usage with different Splashtop versions, even THD).
The whole thing also uses the keyboard dock of the prime, you can use it as a mouse for example and the cursor on the PC updates (after a bit of lag). Typing also works great, no problems here.
I use it to watch videos on my Prime, but since I only watched Cartoons like the Simpsons & Family Guy, I didn't notice any lag or stuttering. Sound also comes in sync, it's working great. Again, I haven't tested this with a real movie, not to speak about 720p/1080p.
i tried playing games using splashtop but sometimes the screen resolution of the game in the computer becomes small.
We all know that the SHIELD is meant to play. But there are some things i would like to know about.
1) Do i can use the same apps i use on tablets and smartphones? You know, social networks, office suites, google drive, MX Player, wikipedia and others? Will i need some kind of workaround?
2) Is it possible to connect a keyboards, mouses, USB sticks and USB HUBs through a OTG cable?
3) Does the streaming works with most Windows games or select games only? The games can only be streamed through WAN, right?
4) Is it possible to install APKs? I want it for testing the apps i am developing.
5) Does it feature a accelerometer for certain games (Like Infinite Flight) or some kind of way to emulate it?
6) Is it possible to play games that use MOGA controllers? (Asphalt 8, Block Story)
7) Is there some app i can use for stream the Xbox 360 to Shield?
8) How much i can play while not in charge?
Thank you.

They all work
2) Is it possible to connect a keyboards, mouses, USB sticks and USB HUBs through a OTG cable?
From what I've heard, yes.
3) Does the streaming works with most Windows games or select games only? The games can only be streamed through WAN, right?
Controller compatible only, unless you launch it through the Steam browser, functionality is not guaranteed. Yes, WLAN.
4) Is it possible to install APKs? I want it for testing the apps i am developing.
Yes, same as any Android device.
5) Does it feature a accelerometer for certain games (Like Infinite Flight) or some kind of way to emulate it?
?
6) Is it possible to play games that use MOGA controllers? (Asphalt 8, Block Story)
Yes, if the controller is not supported by default, you can download custom mapping made by users by long pressing the "start/play" button.
7) Is there some app i can use for stream the Xbox 360 to Shield?
I... I would think it's feasible... You would need a fast capture card, really fast,, like no delay, and a USB prog device for the system.
8) How much i can play while not in charge?
I've gone 5-6 hours running 3D intensive games and about 7-8 hours running regular apps with maybe some music.

Infinite flight requires you to tilt your devices to the sides and or upside down like you were actually controlling a airplane.
Also, Racing Games like Asphalt 8 makes you tilt your devices to the sides to turn the car.
Does NVIDIA Shield supports this kind of games? Is there someway i can emulate this through the keymapper?
Anyway. I still have more questions.
9) Does the Shield work with USB 3G/4G Modems? Can i use modems with SD card readers?
10) Do i can use Bluetooth/USB keyboard and mouse for using the OS (Navigation, youtube, facebook, others)? Do i need
11) Do can i use keymapper with external controllers (Like MOGA or Xbox 360)?
12) Is there some way i can charge the Shield while using a USB HUB? Is it worthful?
13) Is the screen good enough for reading/editing documents?
14) The HDMI cable must be mini or can it be normal HDMI?
15) What is the maximum SD Card storage size?

It does work with my mom's 4g modem. I'd think so if it works for other Android devices... That's just wireless storage correct? If so, then yes.
10) Do i can use Bluetooth/USB keyboard and mouse for using the OS (Navigation, youtube, facebook, others)? Do i need
I've seen people connect a mouse to the Shield, never a keyboard... I never tried BT though but am certain it will work.

You can connect those controllers, I think (not sure) you can use Nvidias settings to use external controllers.
12) Is there some way i can charge the Shield while using a USB HUB? Is it worthful?
Mine charges when I have my external USB port plugged in via USB and power connections, when the power is cut it won't charge, just sends and receives data.
13) Is the screen good enough for reading/editing documents?
I read PDF's and manga all the time on this thing, most of my college texts books I read of here. DO NOT BUY BOOKS FROM THE AMAZON MARKET PLACE (Kindle books)!!! MOST DO NOT WORK, sadly... Ended up spending $140 for some E-books and wasn't even able to get a refund.
14) The HDMI cable must be mini or can it be normal HDMI?
Mini-HDMI to HDMI/Composite
15) What is the maximum SD Card storage size?

Yes, it works pretty good too.
Does the Shield support HTML5 Gampegad + DeviceOrientation + DeviceMotion APIs
Hi,
Can someone with a shield please tell me if gamepad api works on Chrome and FireFox, it would be kind of daft if it doesn't.
Could you also please check device orientation and device motion works ( I tried to add links, but it wouldn't let me sorry!!) their are websites for testing these easily found on Google
If these work then I'll get one,
Thanks

It's only 200 Dollars. If it is going to hurt you that bad to spend that amount of money then you don't really need one do you? If it turns out you don't like it you can turn around and sell it on ebay for near the original 200 you paid. The average selling price on ebay for new, near new is still 175 to 200 dollars. Used you can still get 150 to 175 dollars. So you really have nothing to loose by buying one.

ok ,dear,i understand you ,and do you want duad core or quad core? And whether you have a demand and the RAM and ROM?:cyclops:
i have a few side by side 3d films that play perfectly fine on my cs918 (rk3188). i also use the vlc app to play the videos and my tv combines the 2 side by side videos to make 1 3d video
i got the CS918 with Bluetooth for £45 from Amazon. although it claims to be a 1.8ghz quad core its actually a 1.6ghz quad core although still runs very smoothly. 2gb ram, xmbc installed, wifidisplay installed and comes rooted with 4.2.2 but the is custom roms to take it to 4.4.2 if thats what you want

Does it cause your TV to switch to 3D without you having to do anything? I got an Android TV box to replace my Pi just to have a little more speed but the Android will not cause the TV to switch like the Pi does. I have to manually switch it. I went back to the Pi but would love to get the Android working as it is faster and has other apps and games.

my tv doesnt jump straight to 3d but it pops up with the 3d menu and asks me to pick whether its left & right 3d, top & bottom 3d or 2d to 3d conversion
1 bonus. if your tv supports 2d to 3d conversion then try it on GTA San Andreas. the game doesnt support 3d but my tv does an amazing job of making it look 3d. Mario Kart 64 running on an emulator also looks strangely good being converted to 3d.
I've got a GS4 running 4.4.2 AOSP (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2544474) and I want to use my Moga Pro Power (http://androidspin.com/wp-content/up...-Pro-Power.png) to play games like NFS MW and emulators like Super Gnes but I get an infuriating lag of ~0.4 of a second between pushing a button and the action happening, making games like Super Mario World on Gnes impossible.
I've also tried a dualshock 3 controller over bluetooth and the lag is still there. If I use the PS3 controller plugged in with an OTG then the input lag is still there (less than ~0.4s but still definately noticeable. Is there anything I can do to improve the lag since I've read reviews and other xda threads which say the Moga works great?
What can cause input lag from an external device? Thanks

as you started with the moga pro i was going to say that the moga definitely has input lag, its not a bad controller but still has some problems, as for the dualshock 3 aswell, i dont know what to tell you. what app are you using to map the buttons to the emulator? the normal moga pivot app or?
Yeah I'm just using the regular moga pivot app. It's not just within apps, it's even when using the controller to navigate around android What can cause input lag (even wired)? I have modified dalvik and bionic caches on my S4 (also on my N7, which also has the input lag) so could that be it?

im not sure about that, there are some emulator apps such as Mupen64+AE (N64 emu) that you shouldnt launch from the pivot app and should have better input. try using this instead https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.obsidianx.android.mogaime for all your emulators, its LOTS better than the pivot app which the pivoit app is only compatable with whatever apps moga wants and this will be compatible with anything that can bind keys.
Thanks for that but this doesnt get around the issue of noticeable lag just using android, a dualshock and wired, I'm seriously tempted to just go and buy a JXD S7800B for gaming and use the moga as a glorified battery pack
So when using the FPS meter on the Shield , as well as trying out different emulators that I have, I've noticed a few things
1. At the top left when the FPS meter is enabled , the max I have ever seen was 29FPS for an emulator(PPSSPP).
2. I seem to have different issues with streaming, when it comes to emulators
a. When streaming PPSSPP, games run pretty much perfectly. Though i've noticed menu's being slower, in terms of gameplay it seems perfect. Shows 29 FPS for the games I've tried out.
B. When streaming a game like DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3, I get framedrops. This is for Dolphin and PCSX2.
-For the Dolphin version, it'll show 28 FPS at first, and then drop to 25-26 FPS at many points.
-For the PCSX2 version, it'll show between 19-20 FPS. But have framedrops in the gameplay
- FOR PCSX2, when I stream a game like Infinite World, and SMT Nocturne it seems to run great however(they both show 20FPS on the meter, but for some reason I can't notice a huge performance hit when it comes to those games). For anyone who isn't aware, IW is a DBZ 2d fighting game, and SMT is an RPG.
3. The basic thing is this. Are certain games from emulators subject to not having perfect or good experiences for streaming? Is it normal to not see anything past 29-30FPS when it comes to streaming emulators? Because if I stream PC games, I can see higher than 30FPS. But when I set the option for 60FPS and the bitrate, for emulators I've never seen it go higher than 29-30FPS
Or could this be some type of bug I only have? Any Shield Owners here who stream emulators, can put in their input? For anyone who doesn't know how the FPS meter shows, I believe you just press the Shield screen twice with 2 fingers, when Gamestreaming.
My set up is a laptop with a GTX660m. Using ethernet.5ghz. No slowdowns on the laptop when gamestreaming, only on the Shield.
The emulator is at fault. All emulators are slow even when played directly on a PC. There are so many computations being done not just for the game but to emulate the device the game is played on that it is almost mind boggling. Emulation has always been faulty and iffy at best on even the highest end PC's now add to that you are pushing that across a wireless stream and you compound the issue even more.
Having no problems here streaming PCSX2 to Shield with a GTX770,
streaming Final Fantasy XII and even God of War 2 at constant 60fps with no probs.
Your mobile GPU might be the problem that bottlenecks the Emulator while streaming.
