[Recovery]HTM M1 Carliv Touch Recovery - Miscellaneous Android Development

Hi,
Guys I made a Carliv Touch Recovery for HTM M1 2G.
Instructions:
Important to know: if the menu is bigger than screen surface, to be able to scroll page down you have to swipe right, and for scroll page up to swipe left. Also swipe left for Go Back.
FEATURES
To be able to use Aroma File Manager, for which you can find an entry under Carliv menu in recovery . Now you can browse your phone without rebooting to Android or connecting the phone to computer
BASED ON CWM 6.0.4.4
HAS AROMA FILE MANAGER SUPPORT!!!!.
Quoted by Carliv aka The creator of both COT AND CTR
his is not a modified COT recovery. You won't find here settings or theme or some other cool stuff they created for COT recovery. For that go to COT Recovery thread. I made this recovery to keep it simple and slim, because MTK phones have a limited size recovery partition. As I said, is a CWM modded recovery with touch screen menu buttons. Also I kept the Go Back entry in menu, just in case if for some devices is not working the touch menu (brocken or something) - in that case it will be just a good CWM recovery. You will be using same clockworkmod folder from sdcard, same backups, same settings, as a non-touch CWM Recovery.
Click to collapse
The most important thing is that you will use from now on the same folder as previous CWM Recoveries, same backups, same settings. Is very good and stable recovery.
How To Install It : ( You will need a rooted Device)
*HAVE A NANDROID BACKUP*
1.Install MobileUncleTools (apk in download link)
2.Copy the recovery.img to root of your extrenal sdcard not to any folder
3. Go to mobileunlce tools -> recovery update -> recovery.img -> ok -> reboot

Hi,
thank You for this Recovery.
On my HTM M1 doesn't work
I flashed your Recovery.img with MobileUncle.
When the cell phone turn on with Vol+ & Power (or with MobileUncle: Into Recovery Mode) on the screen shows bottom left written small letters: recovery mode.
Immediately after show HTM logo and mobile boot into Android.
As to skip Recovery.
Are there solutions

Thank you very much. For now I will not because I have everything installed and configured. That's why I wanted to install CWM so I could make a backup of the system.
If the system crashes and I have to put the stock Rom, then I'll replace Recovery.img.

ok mate

Thanks, perfect as I could restore my backup with your recovery, great job.

There ar no recovery for HTM M3? I tried this one by flashing it with stock rom, also tried with mobile uncle, but issue is same as darko150 - it skips the recovery part and continues booting android. I have rocovery.img whitch was generated automaticaly with MTK droid tools. It loads up, works particulary, but doesn install .zip files.

someone can confirm that this recovery work?

[Resolved] Stuck at boot screen in recovery

I have a commtiva z71 variant- Videocon V7500 Evolve.
When I boot it in recovery it's stuck at the boot screen.
It's booting properly and is rooted to cm 7.1 (2.3.7).
I flashed cwm lot of times but no luck.:crying:
I am a new to android.
Please help!!!
So you can boot your phone normally, but you can't boot on recovery...hm and you said that you "flashed" CWM many times? Well then I'm going to give you an alternative way to install CWM recovery. So
1. Go in bootloop. Well I guess you know how but I will describe the way just in case. Bootloop is when the phone is on the loading screen with the hourglass. And to enter in bootloop usually (On my phone atleast) I have to hold down the "volume down" and the "End call button" Red one, and press the power up.
2. Connect your phone with your pc via usb.
3. Download the attached file below.
4. Extract the file you downloaded and navigate from pc in the "fastboot" folder. Double click the "install-recovery-windows.bat" file.
After doing these steps you should have CWM 5.0.2.7 ready to boot.

Earlier it was working properly but suddenly it stopped.
Sorry for late reply
I have another question that the link that you gave me is of cwm 5.0.2.7 but my phone supports cwm 2.5.1.3.
Hope to look for a positive reply.
Thanks again

What do you mean by "supports" ?
Which version of recovery you should install on your phone just has to do with what Rom you want to install, or to be more accurate which version of android your ROM has.
So you should install your recovery mode depending on what you want.
1. AmonRA Recovery 1.6.2 - Link (for android 2.1)
2. V1.8.1.4 recovery - Link (For Android 2.2)
4. Recovery CMW Ascend - Link (For android 2.3+ )
5. Recovery 4.0.1.5 - Link (2.2-2.3+)
6. Recovery 5.0.2.3 - Link And instalation Link (for android 2.3+)
7. Recovery 5.0.2.6 - Link (For android 2.3+)
8. Recovery 5.0.2.7 - Link (For android 2.3+)
The example above is taken from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1608000 In the second post.
So to be quick, there is no restriction on your recovery you can use whichever you need to.

[RECOVERY][3/9/13][OFFICIAL] ClockworkMod Recovery Touch v6.0.2.8b

The HTC One XL is now officially supported by ROM Manager. ClockworkMod recovery can be downloaded from within the ROM Manager application, or from clockworkmod.com/rommanager.
Official ClockworkMod Builds
Download ClockworkMod 6.0.2.8 Official
This is the stock ClockworkMod recovery. Navigation is done through volume-up/down and power to select.
Download ClockworkMod Touch 6.0.2.8 Official
This is the touch driven ClockworkMod recovery. Navigation is done through a touch interface.
Automated Installers
Automated installation will only work if you have the su binary (root access) on your ROM. If you have just performed unlock or S-OFF, you must use the manual installation method for the first recovery installation.
Official ClockworkMod builds: ROM Manager
Manual Installation:
Requirements: you must have fastboot set up: Windows Guide, Mac Guide, Ubuntu Guide
1) Reboot your phone to the bootloader:
Method 1: Disable fast boot under Settings > Power > Fast boot. Shut down the phone. Hold Volume-Down and Power simultaneously until the phone vibrates. Continue holding volume down, but release the power button. When you reach the bootloader, choose the FASTBOOT menu option using the volume keys to move up/down and the power key to select.
Method 2: If you have adb installed, then with your phone fully booted up, type: adb reboot-bootloader
2) Flash the recovery image using fastboot. Open a terminal and navigate to the directory with the downloaded image. Type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.8-evita.img
where the filename should be replaced with that of the version you downloaded. When the image has finished flashing (usually less than 10 seconds), issue the command
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
3) Use the volume keys to navigate to BOOTLOADER and then select it with the power key. After the phone finishes scanning for PJ____.zip images, choose RECOVERY from the menu. This will start ClockworkMod recovery.

Known issues / Workarounds / To Do
In the stock version, there is no support for the capacitive back/home/recent buttons on the phone.
The charging status LED does not turn on when the phone is charging, though charging does work.
If the phone is powered off while plugged into USB, it will temporarily reboot into CWM then shut down 20-30sec later

Note: This is for evita, not endeavoru.
If anyone is interested, I also offer a gesture enabled version: CWMR Touch, based on gweedo767's work. Navigation is done through swiping up/down/left/right on the classic CWM interface.

After all this time, it's like that girl you lusted after in high school who wouldn't give you time of day, then when you meet her at your 10-year reunion and she wants to hook up, you've been married for five years already.

anyone know if our build of cwm lack any features that other phones have? i see you can't format boot in our version unless that is normal for all cwm 6.x.x.x.

Are you able to format boot in TWRP? I would think this is related to HTCDev Unlock only allowing writes to the boot partition through fastboot, and not through recovery.

Didn't see anything. Under the wipe menu, there's buttons for system, cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, external storage, and android secure. I'm on TWRP 2.3.3.0 if that means anything

Then I do think the reason /boot format is not permitted has to do with HTCDev unlock. S-OFF users should see the option (in both TWRP and CWM).
i have s-off and format /boot is not implemented.

Yes phone booted in bootloader it say FAST BOOT & STATUS UNLOCKED, I can't enter in recoverymod, as I enter in recovery mod I get dead android with red ! mark.
When I purchased this phone (a few days back) I had Gingerbread, I updated it n due to low signals (I think) ICS installed properly but when it came to installing applications it got hanged, now I can't run applications properly as it reboot if I try to open any application.
I again try to update it from wifi from ICS 4.0.4 to JB 4.1 ( As new update was available) but after complete download of JB when it started to installing I got that dead android sign with RED ! mark.
Do you have any idea what happened wrong?

Please guide me a little bit details as I'm new user of Nexus S & Thanks in advance..
You said install custom recovery right? now I have downloaded 2 files for Clockworkmod recovery 6.x.x.x. one is in .ZIP format & other is in .img format. Now the question is
1). Do I have to flash recovery by using this advance option of Nexus Root Tool Kit by clicking on FLASH PERMANENT & then clicking on recovery & then giving the path of CMW 6.x.x.x.IMG and then after giving the path clicking on ROOT & checking the "And also flash custom recovery" option?
2). Can I install .ZIP file CWM 6.x.x.x.ZIP by just putting it into the SD card of Nexus S, turning the phone on into RECOVERY mode and the selecting INSTALL .ZIP from SD card (Something like this) then locating CWM 6.x.x.x.ZIP & it will install it automatically?
I installed CWM recovery in my Samsung Galaxy Gio a year back & then installed Cyanogenmod in that phone but I have forgot the procedure but I think I did it like I entered into recovery mode by pressing some buttons & then install zip from SD (I think I did like this but not sure).
P.S: I can enter into recovery when I see DEAD ANDROID with RED ! then I press volume up + power button 2 times then it shows me stock recovery.
One last thing to ask, you said CHANGE SCREEN SETTING TO ZERO? What does it means? Screen setting of Laptop or Mobile (Brightness or what?)
Thank you very much for your support :highfive:

One more question just to conform something, can I use this Philz Touch 5.06.1 (Latest) on my STOCK ROM? I'm having ICS 4.0.4 build number IMM76D, can I flash this recovery? I have remember the old days when I flashed CWM in my Samsung Galaxy Gio, they had 4 types of CWM. One was for some RAW disk format, another was for EXT4 (Something like that).
Can I install it for I.C.S 4.0.4? Do I have to root my Nexus S I9023 after that or is it already rooted? that UNLOCK means my phone is rooted? What about the Super user application? DO I have to install in separately? Can I install Cyanogenmod after install this recovery or should I have to install Super user before installing Cyanogenmod? I have remember when I install Cyanogenmod on my Galaxy Gio, the Super User was already there..
Lots of questions for you again but these are just to conform that I'm leading towards right direction, please answer so that I must start flashing Philz Touch 5.06.1.
Thanks in advance :highfive:

It sounds like you're going to have to re-flash stock or some other ROM. Use the toolkit (in another post in our forums) and flash TWRP recovery and then flash whatever ROM you want.
Also....do a backup in TWRP after everything is working. Most important thing you'll ever do as it will save you from having to do this kind of thing again.
I would flash a recovery Philz or TWRP boot to recovery format sdcard system data cache and preload .
Phone empty flash stock rom via Odin

It sounds like you're going to have to re-flash stock or some other ROM. Use the toolkit (in another post in our forums) and flash TWRP recovery and then flash whatever ROM you want.
Also....do a backup in TWRP after everything is working. Most important thing you'll ever do as it will save you from having to do this kind of thing again.

If you can get into recovery mode - holding power+volume down , then pressing volume up to get into download mode , if so, flash a stock rom through odin & you will be good to go.
Did it :victory: Thank you soo much!!

Nice...Will be building some twrp themes just for the Relay 4G....glad you guys built it as ive been pretty busy
The work around for the "failed" flash. Unmount system in the "mount" menu prior to doing any flashing of zips. Even I have to do this on the G2 with TWRP 2.6.3.4.

New build posted in the OP!
Will now flash old Android builds (I've tested with every build I could get my hands on.)
I've never used TWRP, how does it differ from CWM for Backups ?
Are my CWM "nandroid" backups cross compatible ? I have Carbon, Omni and CM11 backups ready to switch at any time for testing in .tar format.
No twrp backups differ from cwm...however Philz can handle twrp and cwm backups...however and in my opinion twrp can do a lot more as a recovery than any other recovery...one thing you can do...and is a slight pain...is boot the backup with cwm or philz. flash twrp and re backup that ROM in twrp then delete the old one...repeat for all backups

hmm yea ... or switch between recoveries restore w/ cwm, install twp, reboot re-create backup .. repeat.
Is there a fix permissions in twrp ? and is usb mounting in windows ? I found I didn't have the functionality of either with the latest CWM

thats what i was refferring too for saving your backups and restorable via twrp....and yes to all the other questions...twrp can do so many things while in recovery...for example..say you downloaded a rom from phone and forgot to put it in root of sdcard...twrp has a file manager with copy and paste functionalities to do so...it supports adb sideloading, mounting for both windows and linux, permissions, much better and clearer wiping method...all touchscreen...very themable for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45122951&postcount=1 i made this theme specifically for my htc rezound as well as many others...which ill more than likely port to the relay as it has to match screen dimensions for resolution...overall it just has a bulk of many great options for a recovery and is very easy to use and get used to
New build posted in the OP. Small bugfixes in this release. (Including some SELinux and settings fixes.)
Did something wrong. How to fix?

I wanted to install this version of twrp on my apexqtmo using heimdall under linux.
I booted into "download" mode, connected my USB table to my linux box, and I then stupidly flashed the wrong twrp module by mistake (for a different phone).
Without realizing my mistake, I then rebooted. I ended up back in my OS, and then, using the Power Menu, I booted into recovery mode. I got the blue text saying RECOVERY BOOTING.... , but after that, the screen remained black.
From then on, I cannot boot into the normal OS, nor into "download" mode.
Even if I remove the battery and then perform a standard boot using the power button alone, I get the blue text saying I'm booting into recovery, and the dead, black screen shows up.
I want to boot into the OS or download mode, but I can no longer do either. No matter what combinations of Volume-Up, Volume-Down, Home, and Power that I press, I always get back to RECOVERY BOOTING...., and I can't get into download mode again, no matter what.
Did I brick my phone?
If not what can i do to fix it?
Thanks for any help.

The only way to clear the reboot mode is to either trigger a different mode or complete the boot. If key combinations don't work, you can try to see if the device comes up in adb and then you can "reboot bootloader" failing that you can trigger download mode with a resistor on the usb port. Google galaxy s 3 jig to find out how to make one or buy one

Thank you very much!
... and I fixed it!!!!
Your adb suggestion led me to the solution ...
I tried adb, but it didn't work.
However, after that adb attempt, the usb cable was still plugged into my device from my linux box, and I noticed that the device was in some sort of boot loop. The device kept giving short vibrations every few seconds.
At that point, I tried one more key combination that I hadn't thought of before: with the cable still plugged in, I held down Volume-down and Home without pressing the Power button ... because I guessed that the existence of the boot loop means that power might already be on, which would cause the power key to be unnecessary.
And my guess was correct: I got into Download mode!
I flashed the correct version of TWRP, and now all is well.
Thank you again for providing the suggestion that led me to my solution!
Also, thank you for telling me about the jig. I'm now going purchase one anyway, just in case I screw up again in the future. I think I can get one for $8 or less (I'm too lazy and clumsy to try to make one on my own).

It's weird, but I had the same experience with the blue "RECOVERY BOOTING" followed by dead phone as described a couple posts ago... and I was flashing the correct file, the twrp zip in the OP, from recovery (cwm 6.0.3.7). I did it twice and got the same bad result.
To get around the bad dead phone result, I held volume down and power for 15 seconds, got into download mode, and then selected volume down to allow the phone to boot normally. Once it did, I went to the Play store and installed an app that could flash another recovery (cwm 6.0.4.5). Which worked.
I will try flashing the .img file and see if that works, but I'm kinda perplexed why the twrp zip didn't work from recovery...

You indeed have to flash the .img file, at least if you're installing from the command line using heimdall.

Ended up successfully flashing the .img file with recovery tools app from play store. Thanks all!

Glad it worked.
Also, FYI: you can't flash a recovery from within recovery. This is why your earlier attempt to flash the .zip from within recovery didn't work.
As far as I know, you have to be in bootloader mode (also called "download" mode) in order to flash a recovery. You have to boot into that mode and use somthing like heimdall to install the .img file. There are also tools you can use which will flash a recovery from a .zip file, but they actually just extract the .img file from the .zip file and then load that .img file via bootloader mode.

The .zip file provided here CAN be flashed from within recovery. What likely happened was a bad download.

Actually, which version of CWM were you using to attempt to install this from? Likely significantly old versions were not set up to flash recovery properly.
