[Q] Should I buy the dual sim version?

Hey guys,
Should I buying the dual sim version Moto G?
Because there is'nt / not yet any single sim version Moto G here,
I'm considering this:
1) I heard that CM doesn't/not yet support the dual sim smartphone, is that true?
2) Can I use the single sim custom rom on the dual sim version? (It's okay for me even if the custom rom works with only 1 sim card)
3) If I can't install the single sim version custom rom on the dual sim version right now, is there any possibilities that the single sim custom rom will work on the dual sim version someday?
Because I think it's meaningless if I use an android phone, but I can't change anything on it
Any help will be much appreciated,
Thanks

you should buy the dual sim version without worries coz:
1) CM supports the dual sim version fully!
2) most of the single sim custom roms run on the dual sim version. you just have to flash the US stock firmware.
3) you can root it and get xposed to get most of the features custom roms provide and also remove the unwanted apps with root uninstaller if you decide to stay with stock rom.(there is not much bloatware anyway, pretty much stock kitkat)
also we are not talking about any android phone here, its the only phone under $200 with kitkat..
edit: i just realised that this is a very old thread! so u might have already made a decision and cm was not supported at that time...

The roms that do not work use the US or european or brazilian radio.. so if u wanna install those roms u will have to install the respective country's rom and radio...

[Q] Not getting 3G data in Slot 2 (running AirTel)

Hello All,
I'm using the One E8 with the following combination:
Slot 1 - Reliance CDMA UIM
Slot 2 - AirTel SIM
My requirement is to use the Reliance connection for voice and AirTel for both voice and data.
Having said that, I've selected Slot 2 to be my preferred data slot and have the default APN settings.
The Slot 2 is just not getting H or H+ (i.e. 3G signals) at all.
I'd read a couple of forums which say
"SIM 1 has 3G but SIM 2 only supports EDGE speeds"

Is this true?
Please help me out in getting my requirement work well.
Many Thanks,
Vinay
Yes only SIM 1 has 3G
Could you please send me link to your installed rom?

Thank you.
I also checked with their technical support team.
It seems that Slot-1 can do 3G but Slot-2 can do 2G only.
In my case, I'll have to go back to Airtel and disable 3G and enable EVDO services with Reliance which is used in my Slot-1.

ansi_11111,
I understand your problem here...
But it might take me sometime to create a TWRP backup of my ROM as I'm to tied up with things at the moment.
Will notify you once done.
Dear all!
Thanks for the ones who tried helping me out here.
I now have my worries addressed very well.
Slot 1 - CDMA (carrier - Reliance, India)
Slot 2 - GSM (carrier - Airtel, India)
The slot 1 now has EvDo-rev.B activated and the data speed is just amazing!
The slot 2 had 3G activated, but now that data connection is taken care with slot 1, I'm gonna terminate my 3G services and continue with EvDo-rev.B.
Must say, E8 is such a masterpiece! :good:

I got myself a new nano-SIM from Reliance (the CDMA carrier) for slot 1 as the one I'd got cut into nano-size was too old.
And also got the EvDo services activated on my number.
Ergo, connection succeeded.
This is only for the cdma version right? Or can a person use a cdma SIM in the HTC one e8 gsm gsm ?
Swap cards
Couldn't you have just swapped the cards around?
Guys, thanks for your suggestions, but sorry for replying late.

Yep, you're right - this is the CDMA version, precisely M8sD, Dual.
And a CDMA SIM can't be used in a GSM-GSM!

I would love to do a swap here.
But for my requirement with CDMA and GSM running...
One must do this:
Slot-1: CDMA
Slot-2: GSM
The swap won't work in this handset as Slot-1 supports CDMA/GSM combination and Slot-2 is only GSM.
Moreover, I'm now happy with Reliance EvDo.rev-B running at superb speeds with no need of Airtel 3G at all!
