Hello,
I've recently installed Cataclysm 4.4.2 on my N5. It seems great, the only thing I am missing at the moment is that I'm unable to add a chrome bookmark to my Homescreen.
I've searched the forums and I can't seem to find any other thread that has been raised for this.
Does anyone know if it is possible on Cataclysm? When you hold your finger on the bookmark the options pop up, but there is no "Add To Homescreen" like in the stock ROM.
Thanks a lot.

Try it this way; Go to your Widgets screen and find "Bookmark". Drag it to your homescreen and then it will prompt you to select a bookmark that you have saved already. Voila! :good:

On the tab, go to menu and there's a remove option in there.

thanks for your answer, but what I mean is to get rid of the shortcut frame windows. I do not want to place shortcuts there, so I do not need these frames and also dislike the look of it.
Why don't you just get rid of the tab completely and put opera in your quick links instead?

On my captivate there are four apps on the bottom of all home screens: Phone, Email, Browser, and Apps.
Any way I can change it? It doesnt seem to be accessible/customizable.
I havent found a way yet either....so doesn't seem possible.

Yep, I figured it out. Follow this:
1. From the Home screen select "Applications"
2. Menu> View Type> Customizable Grid
3. Menu> Edit
You can now slide any App down to the bottom dock. You can even change it back to "Alphabetical Grid" and it will still save the Apps on the dock.
thank you sir!

Is anyone having success with Launcher Pro replacing touchwhiz?
I really prefer launcher pro over touchwiz. Are you asking how to change the buttons on the dock in launcher pro? If so, just hold down one of the little +'s until the menu opens up and go from there.
on a related note, is there a way to remove the different pre-loaded AT&T applications from the phone? there are a number that seem useless given other apps out there that do the same thing but better, but i canĀ“t seem to figure out how to delete them.
keep your finger on the icon you want to move a second longer than normal (if you have your phone on vibrate, it will buzz) then you can move them around the screen as many or as much as you like. You can also drag them into a bin which will appear in the bottom of the screen. This action doesn't delete the app or icon, it just reappears in the apps page. Very easy but took me ages to work it out. So simple. Have fun
I am having no luck in figuring out how to put a short cut to web page on my G-Tab home screen. The process is very simple on my Mytouch 4G. What am I missing?

Long press on any home screen until you get the popup with Shortcuts, Widgets, Folders, Wallpapers. Select Shortcuts and then Select Bookmark and select the webpage you want a shortcut to. Obviously you'll have to save the webpage as a Bookmark (Favourite) first to be able to do this.
Hope this helped.
That is the problem. I don't get the option for bookmark.

I don't know if it's necessary or there's just an extra process to go through but I notice "bookmark" is missing from mine as well where on my MT4G it's there, but if you get Dolphin Browser it will put a context link there for a bookmark for sure on the tablet and Dolphin is pretty nice.
Hope this helps, GL.

You don't get the option for Bookmark when you long press on an open area of a home screen?
What ROM are you running? I'm running VEGAn beta 5.1 and LOVING it.
Stock TnT 3389 with enhacement pack 3.1.4b.
Well I found one way to do this. If I bookmark a page from within the browser it gives the option of adding a shortcut to the home screen.
edit: Problems have been solved, I am now officially in love with this ROM. Thanks to everyone who commented!
First off I'd just like to say Eclipse is fantastic. I'm sorry for leaving you Humble but TW4 is just simply magnificent! However, there are a few gripes I have that I would really appreciate some help on.
First: At the bottom of the screen there are the 4 preset application shortcuts(Phone, Contacts, Messaging, Applications) and I would really like to change Phone and Messaging to other applications(RocketDial & HandcentSMS) otherwise they are just going to waste. On Humble I could click Browser(for example) and it would ask if I wanted to open it with Dolphin HD or Browser, I would select Dolphin and choose that to be the default, and it was done. No such option exists on TW4(Eclipse) as far as I know.
Second: The app drawer on Humble used to be alphabetical and now it's just sorted by date, it was really convenient having it in alphabetical order so I could find apps very easily but that option too seems to be gone. Would really appreciate help and will distribute thanks where they are needed :]
not sure how TW4 is working, but I know on my MT4G running if you go to personalize and lock screen, you can pick which application runs by holding down the shortcuts and picking a new one.
I'll research this somemore and look it up for you
Really appreciate it Dragon, I looked it up and it said to hit the Menu button and click Edit Page, all that does is open up all my home pages. I figured the option to change the glued shortcuts wasn't working but I'm asking because I hope someone here who is also running Eclipse 1.3.1 has figured out a way to change it.
Im pretty sure u pull up your apps and then click the edit button up top and then u can change them.
Download appzorter on the market for the alphabatizing

Close, but it's not the edit button on the top of the page: first open the app drawer, then hit the phone's physical menu button and select Edit. From there you'll see highlights and a - button around each icon and you'll be able to pull apps from the drawer onto the shortcut bar (not vice versa, though, just pull them down and it'll replace what's there).
As far as alphabetizing goes, there are apps like appzorter that will help but just be aware it still won't be true automatic alphabetizing -- you have to manually run the sorting app each time you install something new to have it sorted. The only permanent solution is to switch to another launcher entirely.
Thank you everyone! I've now got an alphabetical app drawer, glued Contacts, Dolphin, Handcent(unfortunately not the widget, which shows a how many new messages you have) and the applications drawer. You've made this the perfect ROM :]
You can decompile the tw launcher and navigate to res/xml/default_topappilcation.xml and change the value to correspond with the apps you want.
Code:
xmlns:launcher="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/com.sec.android.app.twlauncher">
<topapp launcher:className="com.sec.android.app.dialertab.DialerTabActivity" launcher:packageName="com.sec.android.app.dialertab" />
<topapp launcher:className="com.sec.android.app.contacts.PhoneBookTopMenuActivity" launcher:packageName="com.android.contacts" />
<topapp launcher:className="com.android.mms.ui.ConversationList" launcher:packageName="com.android.mms" />
</topapps>

Anyone who was hoping to be able to use the new launcher (such as myself) will be happy to know that you can! It appears that the option is there in the 4.2 OTA update, it is just hidden from the settings menu. I assume that Asus are probably still working on it and will release it in a future update.
The only modification I made to Droid-Eye's method was to simply use a setting shortcut widget rather than an entire launcher option such as ADW.
I used 'Secure Settings' from Google Play, which is free. Please bear in mind you also need an Ipack for an icon for your shortcut. Luckily Secure Settings has a handy link to download free ones from Google Play when you are setting up your shortcut.
I hope it helps anyone desperte to try out the new launcher style. It seems many people hate the new launcher, and I'll admit that I did myself the first time I saw it. However, it has grown on me and I'm going to give it a run to see if I like it over the old style. I can always change back...for the moment anyway.
Note: There is no need to be rooted or unlocked to do this. You can always change back to previous launcher by setting up another shortcut widget in the new style launcher. Your tablet will need to restart to make the change, that is normal.
Screenshots.
As Droid-Eye correctly pointed out, the home soft button doesn't line up with the app draw button. I haven't found any other bugs yet.

The instructions worked well for me. So far I keep looking for the buttons in the wrong place. But overall the tablet seems snappier with this launcher. I also do like that the notifications shows across the top so you can see a lot more of the text.

Good looking out
I didn't even think about giving this its own thread. Hopefully, more people will consider trying the new layout now instead of just sticking with the status quo. I know not everyone will prefer them but it's always better to have the choice (I mean, this is Android after all).
Thanks for the credit.

Thanks, man. I've been playing around in the activities shortcuts since I first got my brand new (at the time) Moto Droid with 2.0.1(to give you a time frame). I've found all kinds of cool stuff that way and it's nice finding solutions that don't require root once in a while. I highly recommend combing through the system activities if only just to see if there's anything hiding, waiting for a later update. This is how I found Face Unlock before they were ready to give it to us, too (though it took some interesting hoop jumping to get it to actually work). Also how I found the stock android dialer so I could try it wwith different SIP clients (still a work in progress).
Anyway, dig through the activities. Guaranteed you'll find something to play with in there.

Maybe check the tf300 threads (since they're the only other ones with this ability) and see if anyone's found a workaround for it. If it's happening for them too and there isn't a fix, I'm sure GMD will want to know about it so it can be fixed before the rest of the tf700 and tf201 communities run into it. Either way, keep the shortcut handy and you can always toggle back whenever they update the app.

The setting is there, just the Secure Settings tool is less than intuitive. Keep looking around at the tool. I had to look at the sample picture in the second post several times before I figured out what it was showing. I'll post instructions later in the evening when I have time if no one else does.

After you have selected to create a widget using secure settings, pick an app, wait, and select settings. Next, you can click the .settings textfield. That will bring up a long list where you have to pick the .settings#launcherSwitchSettingsActivity. (Almost at the end of the list) Save.
Give the shortcut an appropriate name, pick an icon, and save the shortcut.
Just install Nova launcher.
