Managed to get my hands on the official S4 Flip Cover, pretty much identical to the S3 one. Only had a dummy S4 to test it with though!
Please post if after 2 weeks use the edges start peeling. I had 2 for the s3 and gave up after they kept peeling. Thanks

I have a family member that has one of these on her Note, not a big fan of having to open them up all the time to see what is going on. But I may be more inclined to check out the new one with the window for the S4....

£45 is beyond ridiculous for the S View case though
Hello
I'd like to buy a stylus for my s4. I'd prefer one with a fine tip and if it could coffee for me that would be great.
I've seen youtube vids with the c-pen working on the s4. Reviews on "big book shop website" indicate that this pen works pretty good with "high sensitivity" set in the s4 options.
I continued my search and found the BHM5100 for the note2 with fancy bluetooth headset function. I realy like it but haven't found anything if it works on the s4. I'd be sattisfied if the headset and the stylus/pointing works. I don't need any special-note-exclusive functions.
I anyone of you could help or has some advice please share it

try this. Incipio Inscribe DUAL Stylus & Pen for Samsung Galaxy S4 have a finer tip than most stylus on the market. You can get it from Amazon
I think that the c pen also works nicely...

It does! Works fine with the s4!
I think i'll buy a c-pen.
I tested the default note2 stylus and it didn't work. So i guess the fancy bouetooth headset pen i mentioned in the opening post isn't going to work either. Galaxy note pens have a small white plastic tip that doesn't work on s4 displays.
Thanks for your participation and advice.

C-Pen
I realize this is and old thread but...
From what I am reading it sounds like the C-Pen for the S3 works on the S4, based on that I found a link for a C-Pen really cheap.
For the price ($5.59) I ordered one, we'll see how a\it goes and will report back.

I haven't tried one of the finer tipped ones but the fat ones work very good. I would just like to have one that is a bit easier for doing fine stuff like image editing and drawing.
From what I've read the C-Pen supposedly works well on the S4, that's why I decided to order one.
My C-Pen arrived today, needless to say it does not work very well on the S4.
It seems to work fine for hand writing and freehand drawing but for other things not so good.
For example the soft keys at the bottom of the screen does not recognize the pen at all.
When tapping on the screen you have to tap fairly hard or it doesn't recognize the pen.
I also tried increasing the touch sensitivity but it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Again, these are my observations. It may work for you but my bet is that you won't be happy with it.

I bought one of these and... well, it's not really that great. It's nice having a fine tip and all, but the screen doesn't really respond very well at all to the tip. I have increased the sensitivity of the display but I still have to use a good bit of pressure for it to respond. I would say it's because it's going through two screen protectors (I have a Zagg invisible shield that I never removed and a LifeProof case) but my mom has a $2 stylus from Walgreens that works flawlessly.
Hey guys, i stay in india and would like to purchase the stylus from flipkart. As i was browsing i came upon two of them.
Check out this MobileStyli on Flipkart! - http://www.flipkart.com/item/STSDRRFSESWAHD4F
Check out this MobileAccessoryCombo on Flipkart! - http://www.flipkart.com/item/MACDTYVFB4FMSHEP
The firsr one is only the stylus for rs.300 and the second one is a package for s4 which includes the stylus, case and the aux cable for rs.450
I dont know if the second one, although its reduced from rs.1100 to rs.480 and getting a good package is made of good quality.
Which one do you suggest?

3 things that I was a bit disappointed with:
1. Screen is not a flexible one like the concept shown a while ago (with side screen for notifications)
2. Screen not flexible can be compensated by a larger screen (6"?), but it's not much bigger.
3. Why does it have to look like a gs2? Are we going backwards in fashion?
Just some of my thoughts...

^^ Well, screen might can bendable. But how do you bend those battery, and other circuits inside?
Even if that is possible as a prototype in labs, I am sure such tech is not ready for mass production. Not to forget, the cost associated will be just too high.
how big is the screen?
Front facing speakers and a bigger screen would of been the icing on the cake for me. Still can't wait to buy one though (just sold my note 2)

The big question is how locked down the bootloader will be and on which models/ carriers. For example since im in canada my s4 does not have and never did have a locked bootloader. The last update on at&t has negated the ability to do anything other than root at this point.
If the note 3 is going that route I will spend my money elsewhere, I hope this is not the case however

Personally, that's one of the selling points for me. I had an S2 and loved it because it was a powerful little thing and it's design is, in my opinion, better than Samsung devices since then.
If I'd liked the look of any Samsung device since then, chances are I would've stayed with them instead of venturing towards a Sony and HTC.
Yeah the specs are great but I wouldn't even think about buying the Note 3 if it looked similar to previous iterations.

As you can see by my signature, I have the One and have been amazed by the improvements by simply having front facing speakers so I definitely agree that it would've been a great addition.
As it currently stands though, it's not really much of a set back.

I feel the Note 3 is a great upgrade from what I've read. I like that it has a envelope tracker. Saving you up to 30% battery life while connected to LTE.
Then you have a very fast processor the S800 running at 2.3ghz max. The 330 GPU that will play anything on the market and many high end games to come. I'm not a very big gamer on phones but I think I will be if I got the Note 3.
I also like the new S-pen features, though there is more optimizations then features. It's still great what Samsung has done. Like the scrapbook, it now will save the metadata of whatever you put in you're scrapbook making it much more useful. And the new floating windows that you can open by just drawing a box of whatever size you want the app to run in.
Battery life is said to have up to 4 more hours of on screen time. Of course it all depends on what is on you're screen but still, I find that a big improvement. But it's mainly due to the S800, it's optimized much better then I thought it would have been. Of course this is all based off of what I've read. But it sounds about right.
Furthermore, you get a much more powerful device. In a all around smaller and lighter package. Sadly the screen is pentile from what I've seen so far. But at 1920x1080 and a 5.68" display pentile should be passable. I've read it looks just as good or better then the Note 2's display. And reading full non mobile web pages without zooming in shouldn't be a problem. Yes you can do that with the Note 2 but only in landscape mode.
I would love to be able to upgrade. It's been keeping me up at night... Gratz to everyone that's able to get this wonderful device.

Since I still have the Note 1, the Note 3 is a welcomed upgrade for me.
I wish the desktop feeling has improved when connecting the Note to a FullHD TV. I guess I will buy the Snapdrogon 800 version, since the octa core version will not be as good supported by Mod development, even if the Octa Core might be faster.
Engadget's Hands-on Review
Two years ago, at a consumer electronics show in Berlin, Samsung took to the stage and unveiled the introduction to what is now a booming smartphone genre. The 5.3-inch monstrosity, called the Galaxy Note, has blossomed into one of the Korean manufacturer's biggest brands. Today the same company is unveiling the Galaxy Note 3, the second sequel in a series of supersized stylus-smitten smartphones, which is even taller, narrower and thinner than the first two of its kind. As expected, the new 5.7-inch Note not only utilizes a S-Pen but enhances its functionality and adds better hardware and components to ensure it's able to handle anything you can throw at it.

Just a quick comparison, between the 2 newest things out there so far, Gnote3 vs LG G2:
http://www.androidcentral.com/quick-comparison-lg-g2-versus-samsung-galaxy-note-3
.
Murray Winiata, a NZ blogger, got hold of a Note 3 and posted his opinions on his twitter page yesterday. Overall he is very positive about it and he is a demanding and informed reviewer.
Some of you may remember he wrote a really detailed review of the Note 1 on his blog and hopefully he will get around to doing the same for the Note 3. I think he sometimes posts here too.
I just got the Note 3 yesterday.
Let me make it clear by saying that I enjoyed every minute of owning the S4.
But I did start a thread saying I'll probably move to the N3 when it's released.
I actually moved from the Note1 to the S4.
I'm moved from the Note 1 to the S4 primarily because of the high-resolution screen and the LTE 4G.
But I was never really comfortable because the screen on the S4 was small something that I felt suffocated , claustrophobic.
My main concern or lets day apprehension was the possible difference in PPI.
I noticed.the ppi difference between the Note2 and Note3 immediately.
Yes it's there with the s4 vs n3 but not as much.
It's mostly there with apps that haven't adapted to the large format I think.
Other than disgustingly terrible battery life, I had no issues with the s4.
I liked the s4 ,was a great interim phone but my heart lies with the large sizes creens.
After using my S4 as primarily a media device I too am tempted by a bigger screen. Having good unlimited data has really brought this phone alive. The N3 is definitely something to consider.

Hope you enjoy your new device. For me personally, the S4 is as big as I'd ever want a daily carry smartphone to be. I'm a big guy, but anything larger than the S4 is just firmly into the Phablet category for me. And the battery life on my S4 has been outstanding with Juice Defender installed.

The delete icon is back on top in the gallery.
For some reason in the previous version they replaced the delete icon with the last used shared icon.
So to delete a picture you'd have to enter menu then find the delete button then press it, then confirm.
Now its an icon on top next to share and last used.
What a relief.
Why would they bury it in the menu settings anyways?

It looks like the Note 3 is better under sunlight.
What I hate with Note 3 is the high price and the fact that you need 2 hands for everything on it,apart the big screen it has nothing better
Note III isn't that "BIG" change from S4 i don't own the device but i didn't get "i must get it" since 4.3 update gets most of the "features i've seen" on the note III the new browser etc,
and if you wan't more note III features well, we can use the apps from the leak
also stock browser have been better, new thing is bad, loading pages isn't going as it once used to
I had a play around with a Note 3 a couple of days ago and I came to the same conclusion that I did with the Note 2 before it. Namely that it's too big to be practical as a mobile phone and too small to be a tablet. And that's coming from someone with big hands.
It looks lovely but it's not for me, the S4 at 5" is the perfect size for a mobile phone. And the screen looks smoother due to the increased DPI.
One thing that does interest me is the bootloader. Does it come with Knox by default?

I am starting to loose faith in the brands to produce a phone that's both of a high quality and runs well. I own 3 flagships. (As you can see in my signature.) Today I have almost lost faith as I put each device side by side. The nexus 5 I have already had to return due to screen issues, and the Z1 instantly seems like a fingerprint magnet, lets not even mention the anti shatter film and the yellow tints. Finally the one device I can't keep my hands off, the note 3 - is amazing - but why is such an expensive phone made so cheaply? I thought the metal bezel would be stainless steel, or some cheap form of metal, but sprayed on chrome know to chip and scratch easily? This is a phone worth over £500... The price of a car.. What was Samsung thinking? Now I know everyone has different tastes, and some of the problems I've mentioned won't bother others... But can someone please point me in the direction of a company that makes QUALITY products. I don't care about price... I need a phone that just works....

I will credit the Nexus 5 with being the best of the 3 IMO. Minus the screen problems, the dead pixels and the noise cancelling feature cancelling my own voice its quite good...

Well Apple makes GREAT products. I had been an iPhone user from the 3g up to the 5. They make great quality phones as far as build. Even the plastic 3g was a nice sturdy build. But unfortunately their OS is to locked down and boring for someone who is majorly tech savvy like myself. Which is why I took my 5 back and got the Note 2. It's cheaply made but does everything I need and then some. The iPhone couldn't.
The problem I've noticed with Android phones is you can get a nice sturdy build with a nice look (like the HTC One) but the version of the OS sucks because the manufacturer or the provider or both. Or your forced to be stuck on a crappy version of ICS or JB with no chance to upgrade.
If your looking for a phone that just works with a great quality build. And don't care about customization and certain features you would get with Android, like keyboard swiping for instance, the iPhone is a great phone.

Oh I hear ya~!! I unfortunately at one time was one of those guys. Major Apple fan. I would say go to your local Apple dealer or provider and play with the iPhone and ask any questions you may have about the device. That way you're not wasting money if you don't like it.

It droped face-up, face-down, I'm constantly playing with it, keep it in pocket with Zippo (Guilty) and stuff...and it hasn't got a scratch on the places that matter (The back cover is easily replaceable, tho the new one wont have the LTE logo on it)....Even though I'm thinking about replacing it with black S4 (just because of the wider display and camera), this phone is a warm recommendation from me.
Trusted xolo... Proud to be having such a beautiful phone

I wasn't saying you can't upgrade the HTC One. I was using it as an example of a quality built phone.
I love all of the Galaxy series. They are a little on the cheaply made side but your right they do take a whooping pretty well. And unlike most people I like Touchwiz. Lol
The S4 is a really nice phone but if you wait a couple more months you can get the S5.

Yeah...Well, I can imagine the price tag on the S5 (Knowing it will have 64bit ram, god-knows-how-much core processor, RAM and everything). I'm a student, so replacing my s3 lte with s4 isn't very big investment, but replacing it with S5 is gonna be pretty much impossible, unless I find some donor (wink-wink) I just don't know is S4 worth the money...I got my phone updated to 4.3 yesterday and oh baby its running so smooth... (tho in /system folder i have 200mbs left...dunno what I'm gonna do)

One of the features of 4.3 allows you to move apps to your sd card and run them from there so if you have an sd card you could do that. Or if you don't you get a 64gb one from Amazon for around $40.
The S3 is still a great phone but with the added features and faster processor makes the S4 a great upgrade candidate.
Also if your extending your carrier contract you would get the S5 for $200 minus trade in of your S3. As long as the carrier sticks to what they've done previously that is.

I think its a great time for brands and the options we have as customers
Oppo Find 5
Check out the OPPO Find 5 Phone. There is a really nice review of it on their site from Android Authory.
Let me know what you guys think!
I quit Samsung and bought a moto x. In my opinion it feels premium and runs the latest Android version pretty well.
You should try it.
