Hello everyone,
I have a very unusual problem with my sensation xe. Let's say my battery is at 10%, i connect the charger, it say's charging, but my battery shows that is discharging and in fact , the battery is charging. The level goes 10%-9%....-0% than it jumps at 100% and goes again to 0%. I tried all the solutions here, but i found that nothing helps. I tried, Battery Calbration app from Play Store, I tried manually wipeing the battery status from recovery when full, i tried all the Rom's , new battery, stock ROM NOTHING! Even when i let the phone charge while in recovery, it doesn't show the true % of the battery.
The phone:
-S-OFF
-latest firmware/radio
-1.27 HBOOT
-now running MIUI
Please Help ME!
Still, the same problem :/
Those battery calibration apps dont do anything neither does the battery status wiping. The battery level indicator gets feedback from the sensor. So if you are having problems with the reading battery level, sensor is malfunctioning. If the battery holds i say ignore it. On the other hand if you have some cash put aside change the battery ( preferably get the same one, anchor batteries are of a larger capacity and are generally cooler but i've see people complain about your exact problem with them). No good news from me unfortunately but hope it clears the problem up for you... Cheers
Try to install app BetterBatteryStats, this could indicate the problem. I got the same problem as you and i delete battery data in recovery.

Hey guys, is anyone else here experiencing the battery level going up when you restart the phone?
If my battery is at 70%, and I restart it, it'll be at 76% or even higher and remain that way for quite a while (remains a consistantly drain, not a single major drain in a short period of time)
This is something that's been happening since I was stock (Retail device from T-mobile store on launch date)
Here's some info:
-S-OFF using Revolutionary, and then later upgraded to 4.0.0.9 via terminal emulator
-Rooted stock (no rom uploaded)
-1900 mha Anker battery
-Battery stats wiped
-UncleSpoon's battery icon mod
even after all that, it'll still do it. So is it just me, or is everyone else experiencing this?
Yes, you have to re-calibrate your battery stats.
No, the CWM menu option to wipe battery stats is not right, for some reason.
Go get this free app: Battery Calibration
Charge your battery all the way up and let it sit charging for a few minutes after you see the light turn green (while turned on and booted up)
After it's been green for a few minutes, open this app and click the big "calibrate" button, and then un-plug it from the charger.
Let it run down until it turns itself off, without plugging it in. This means no usb to the computer, either - and don't turn it off manually.
After it turns itself off from lack of juice, plug it in (wait about 30 seconds) and then turn it back on. If you turn it on too quickly weird things may happen, depends on how depleted the battery is. (usually there is 1 or 2 % left so it's ok)
Leave it plugged in and turned on until fully charged. After that, you can feel free to play with it, but you should run it up and down a few more times without charging in-between. The first one is critical to do this way, though, or you are just wasting your time.
You MUST be rooted, or it will not work. (said for others who may need this info)
Tip to drain battery - screen brightness all the way up, screen to not turn off, and turn the flashlight app on. Leave it sit for a few hours.
Tip to charge quickly while on: Turn all wireless and data communication off, tap power button to turn screen off (keeping phone on)
Good luck, it'll solve the problem though.
I used battery calibration to wipe my battery stats (I did it in recovery on my 3G Slide, so I'm aware of that alternative method)..
I've let my stock battery get to 0% but that was pre-root.
After reading all the charging problems with the CWM, I was a bit afraid to attempt the 0% drain on the new Anker.
Are you running 4.0.0.9, and does it charge fine? I'd hate to deplete an Anker since I have no external battery charger.

Removing the stats only doesn't calibrate the battery, check the calibration guide in my sig, for a correct method that works for any android device.

Seriously, that's a good read.
I agree.
What I recommended was better then just wiping battery stats with CWM, but nowhere near as good as what Ace42 linked us up to.
I'd recommend reading those threads and doing that instead, I am more then happy to be corrected and shown a better way.
(FYI - I depleted a stock battery completely, both in CWM 4.0.0.8 and 4.0.0.9 to test the charging issue. You will always be able to charge it in the phone, even if you bring it completely to dead.
The idea that you can't is a myth, and was a concern until it was proven not to be true.)
My battery level indicator displays a higher battery level after rebooting. With an app (Battery Indicator) which is translating level in %, its about 10%.
Rebooting in recovery is also resulting in an higher level, also about 10%.
I'm using Insertcoin 3.4.2 with 2.6.35.14Brickedv1.5 kernel.
Has the custom rom or kernel something to do with displaying inaccurate battery level stats or is this something normal?
Keeping rebooting doesn't deliver me a full charge btw, now that would be something nice
I have somewhat of a similar problem.
I use hyper non-sense 0.5 and today my cell wouldn't charge beyond 99%. I rebooted and only had 92% .
I wiped batterystats before rom flash..
Maybe these issues are somewhat related?
It's known that the battery reporting driver is **** and bugged.
Also, if you reboot, you'll get messed up battery reports than if you power off then back on.

Only wipe battery stats when your battery is charge to 100%
Support TrevE! Fuh Q CIQ!
Ok, thanks for the advice. Good to know not to be too much confident on the battery indicator.
Have found another threads about the battery stats and the behaviour of li-ion batteries also (the search button was gone for a few days, but back at the moment ), reading already...
Hello, i'm experiencing a bad issue
My battery data seems wrong, i will explain better
I'm using insertcoin 3.4.6 with battery percentage
I'm also using juice defender that put it on plane mode during the night
Happens that battery, for example, shows 18%, so i rebooted in recovery and the real % was 4! Then i rebooted and infact battery showed 4%.. why this big delay? I have wiped battery stats but nothing
I'm on stock kernel and radio
Charge the phone to 100 then wipe the batt sats, Discharge the phone till it dies, then charge to 100 (not till green light comes on but a few hours after that) then you will start to see better results.
Yea, try wiping battery stats after full charge to 100, do full discharge. Also what recovery are you using, i know clockworkmod has a bug that has to do with bat %
Nothing to do.. I've done 2 full cycles 0-100 but still the same problem
Seems something is preventing battery to refresh stats
I'm using 4ext touch recovery..
Always, when i go to recovery, i see a different value of % , seems under 30% it start to go crazy.. Can be a os issue.. I'm on insertcoin 3.4.6 and after i was on stock european htc rom ( 2.3.4, sense 3 bla bla bla)..
For example, now os shows 3% and recovery shows 4%...
I get the same thing, might be common. What helped me was changing roms, was more erratic on some.

Most of the Sensation devices have this issue. It's a common problem.
But is software issue then? Because my battery life give me 2 days and is not bad at all! Only this annoying issue...
From what I've read it is a fault in the Sensation battery driver, hopefully HTC will fix this in the ICS release.
My battery data is all over the place, I use BMW only to look at the % left graph and interpret what I think the remaining power is - the voltage, current and wattage readings are all over the place and totally untrue.
You can't improve this, unless you can write a better driver!
Hi all,
There's this problem with my phone that everytime I charge it, it takes an elongated time to do so. This issue first emerged when I was on stock GB after a minor OTA update which added the power saver toggle to the quick settings menu..The problem is that it takes about 4-5 hours to fully charge the phone, and if I rebooted in the middle of charging when it's about 70% or 80%, it suddenly shows that the phone is fully charged, and the indicator becomes green! But afterwards the battery drains as quickly!
Now I have S-Off and using ARHD 6.6.3 ROM, but it seems the problem persists ..I wiped battery stats as soon as I flashed the ROM as well..Although it's not a problem I cannot live with, it's annoying enough when it happens.
Can someone please help me? And suggest me what to do?

its common thing...the battery calibration is not proper that's all...
also you need to wipe stats once you charge your phone to 100%
then battery will try to calibrate ...and after 3-4 full complete cycles (100-0 and 0-100)
the battery will settle..
the battery drain will be there ...whenever you flash a rom or flash a kernel....battery only settles atleast after 2 full cycles
EDIT: also download currentwidget from market..as the name says its a widget..so you will see it in widgets once you installed it...this will give you more proper reading of battery...when you plug your phone to charge...and when current widget reads 0mah then your battery is charged completely...(it might take a long time to read 0mah...but charge it until you see 0mah)..then wipe the battery stats...so after this battery calibration will be proper
Also the sudden jump of battery percentage is due to improper battery calibration
so dont worry you got no problem
So
I read somewhere that you are not supposed to let the phone go to zero because it could cause your phone to not power back on anymore..is this fact. I couldn't find where I read it to back and read again. Mine has been doing some weird things as well...the led turns green before it is 100% and it goes from 100% and drops to like 89% out of no where.

when i meant 100%-0% means until your phone turns off due to less power..it might not(or won't be) be 0% then
as i told you that kind of jumps are common ...in my case it went to 60% to 100% when i rebooted ...also the dropping used to be in large scale too

Thanks mate! I will try this out! cheers!
Hi, I am having a weird problem with my HTC Sensation XE, after some time, my phone stops showing correct battery life. For example, first the battery is 100% charged, and in a few minutes it is 25% charged. After some time the phone believes the battery is empty and shuts down itself. After that, I wait a while and reboot and it has like 80% again. This doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it is quite annoying. It isn't ROM related, as I have tried lots of ROMs and flashed stock multiple times, but it didn't solve the problem. I have also formatted the battery properly lots of times. What do you think could be the cause of my problem? I am suspecting it's the battery, but I am also afraid it could be something worse. Thanks in advance for your help
P:S. Oh and I didn't mention, sometimes also fastboot, recovery, and ROM show different battery usage. IDK if this was important but still

I had the same problem both on my stock and 1900 mAh Anker batteries and I partially solved it by thickening the battery on the "slim" side with a layer of paper and 2 of adhesive tape  I said partially because sometimes this issues strikes back...
Try also to remove battery and to re-insert it without charging it when the phone shuts down till phone doesn't boot anymore (it helped me a lot!) and also to fully charge your battery (all night long for example) and then to wipe battery stats via recovery
