Urgent help - Sony Xperia C

Hi all, I installed asphalt 7 few days back and backup it via app backup and restore but due to its large size it couldn't backed up.. Though I found whole game of 1.1 GB in Android /obb folder.. Now how can I restore it? I don't mind if data is lost but don't want to download the whole game once again

ROM flashing and Titanium backup - found where I went wrong

This is my first post here so it'll probably be in the wrong spot and say something everyone already knows etc etc
I recently battled through an installation of the CM-6.1.3 ROM and when i restored apps using titanium backup/restore I kept getting force closes using the camera and even when trying to choose a ringtone.
The mistake i was making is that you can't just restore all apps with titanium. Your old versions of apps will over-write the CM-6.1.3 versions and cause issues. I had to go and restore only the minimum number of my user apps making sure i wasn't over-writing an app already built into the ROM.
If this is so basic as to not be worth sharing....sorry. But I imagine a lot of noobs like me with new ROM problems could trace it back to improper titanium use?
Some things to consider:
1. What was the last ROM you backed up your apps on.
2. Did you enable application moving in CyanogenMod Application settings.

You cannot backup your apps from Android 2.1 and restore them to Android 2.2 (CM 6.1.3), the data will not be compatible. And make sure you do enable Application Moving or else you may run out of space on your phone's internal storage.

my luck is that i don't use much app
I just restore my apps and their data with tb. Always works fine for me.
I dont restore any built in stuff at all, it only takes a few minutes to run through the settings.

[APP] IF YOU FLASH YOUR PHONE REGULARLY CHECK THIS OUT, Zemna App List Back Up

Hey guys,
Im sure many of you know about the problems which can be caused backing up apps and restoring them to different android versions (problems with force close, reboots, general instability / compatibility).
I found this great free app which makes a list of all your apps you have installed into an XML on your sd card (so it wont get wiped when flashing your phone) and will allow you to open the XML and select an app and it will take you to the market place page for your selected app to download it again.
I find the market place 'my apps' will only remember my paid apps after changing roms and this is a much more reliable way and safer way to get your apps back, plus its just easier to have all your old apps in a list ready to download and not searching for ages right?!
I flash my phone quite regularly and with this app you can be sure you get the correct version of your apps not restoring one that's not compatible and cause problems.
Here's the App Brain link http://www.appbrain.com/app/zemna-applist-backup/net.zemna.android.applistbackup. I don't expect this to changes lives buts its a helpful tool, for free!
I'm not the dev for this app and take no credit for his / hers / their work! Feel free to hit 'THANKS' if this is useful to you.
Enjoy ;-)

to be honest not much usefull, but still appreciated...!!
I found it good, each to their own opinions I guess. Just thought I'd share cos my market never shows my free apps after flashing and its just easier to use this than spend ages searching for the all again, there're just there in a list ready to download

Already done
easiest way is to copy /data/app to your sd card. then copy all the apks from there to your computer and put them into flashtool's "/custom/app" folder. then after flashing your new rom, click "customize" in flash tool. bam, all your apps are installed without having to wait for downloading.
biggest downfall is losing app's saved "data". ei highscores and settings.
you can back these up by copying the program's data folder from /data/data to your sd card. the data folder for the program will look like this:
come.rovio.angrybirds (angry birds)
inside the data folder you will find different data files, some will be settings, highscores, etc. it will be different for every program. once you reinstall the app. you can copy JUST the data files to replace settings, scores, etc. don't copy the entire folder or you will get FC's.
That makes sense although iv never tried it. In theroy you could use the flashtool to put all the apps back on the phone and then with titanium back up restore data only and it not cause problems?

why not just use titanium backup? there's a free version. it needs root, but if you're flashing roms so often, you would already have root. you can back up everything, and batch restore everything. better than clicking 1 app at a time imo

I see where your coming from but backing up and restoring apps between different versions of android isn't really a good idea and there is different versions of apps for different android versions which is where the compatibility issues and stability problems come in.
The idea of this is it saves all your apps and you can download the right version for your particular configuration on your phone.

i hate restoring with titanium. you have to confirm each individual reinstall.
There is a batch mode you know and just leave it to do its thing automaticly. Batch restore brings everything back, I only had to confirm once at the start of the process

thanks for recommending this app, as it is really useful
i do not recommend tb/mybackup if you are switching between android versions as some apks might not be compatible
using this you can link to the market really easy and it ensures you having apps installing in the right way =)

You should read the OP again, TB isn't always the best choice. Especially between different roms and versions of android.

I use TB and restore just the app, no data.
For games like AB there are back up apps available on the AM and I've not had any problems using this method!

Your lucky then I guess. Really the idea of this is if your changing your android version though, ie; going from 2.1- 2.2 ,2.2 - 2.3 or down grading your android version. It helped me anyway....

Root...

Well is there anyway to root without losing my data? And what exactly does it erase, that's because I downloaded some Gameloft games and here my net is VERY slow (100kb/s), so I need o know if it will be erased, as well Bug Village save data, Gun Bros, Contract Killer, Angry Birds, well there's too much , so I want to know if there's anyway to don't format, for example I didn't need to format my x10 mini pro when I rooted it.
Thanks for your attention, waiting for answers

I'm kind new at this to and I didn't have much on my phone when I rooted it but I backed up my pics, vids, and other data from my sd card to my pc. If you've purchased apps from the market then they should already be backed up by google and titanium backup is a good app for backing up all apps. like I said I'm new and I was more worried about getting rooted than what I was gonna lose but if I remember correctly it flashes your card so backing up all your data would be wise.

It is the unlocking that wipes your data, so yes you will use what data you can't backup but you will get your apps back if you are synced to your google account.
So do yiu guys know someway to root without unlocking the bootloader, sorry for this questions, that's because Xperia X10 mini pro is VERY different from Xoom...
Sent from my MZ605 using XDA App
As far as I know you must unlock your device which wipes your data. Why not just copy it to your computer if you have one, unclock and copy back?
That's because Gameloft games, when I connect my Xoom to my computer I can't see it data pack. And so I have too much game data on my Xoom that I worked so hard to do (for example Bug Village and Inotia)...

Titanium Backup is what I use for all my backup needs. I then Sync it with my dropbox which syncs with my PC. So if I wipe the device I just copy it back from the PC. Titanium has an option built in to sync with Dropbox.

You should be able to just plug it into your PC and go to Xoom/Internal Storage/gameloft all my game data is in that folder.
What you really want to do is make a folder on your desktop then go to your Xoom open the folder (Internal Storage) click tools/folder options/view make sure "always show menus" is check. Click ok and close that box. Now go to edit in the menu select "select all" then edit again and copy. Go to the new folder and paste it. This will select all the files even if they are hidden. That should start to copy your files over to your PC.
Well I already made a backup of my Gameloft data pack, but I want to backup my Inotia data... Anyone know a way?

along with TB this was one of the first apps I brought after rooting, chose TB as it was the first one or of the two I tried, only just started playing with this app. Only been root for couple of weeks, Rom toolbox does look good and short of played with it regarding fonts and boot images etc, not really done much else with it yet. As after root was a little scared of my phone for a couple of days. As an all in one it does look a lovely bit of kit. Both apps for me were worth the money even if one gets more use than the other

i use titanium backup pro to backup all my apps, which lets you restore just the apps you want, with or without data.. if i'm restoring all my data after flashing a ROM update, sometimes i'll use the restore data option in recovery.
Same here titanium backup pro all the way, and I make sure it backs up the data and apps to Google drive as well as the SD card. Just an extra safeguard in case I damage the card or accidentally delete all information while flashing a ROM like I did last week .

[HELP] Optimus 3D SMS App

Hello everyone... I am using ported ICS on my O3D with the Dark International ROM v2... I have a problem restoring the SMS backup on my phone the threads are shown like one.. I mean the conversation is separated my messages are in different thread and the other person in new thread.. I think this is app related because my backup was created on GB. Is there any way that I can fix this or I will need the GB SMS app ported (if its possible)??
I am on the same rom and I also made my backup on GB but with sms backup and restore app and now I can't restore them.It gives me an error when I try to restore..

Try rebooting and do the process again. I had the same problem. But anyway it seems that I cant do the backup properly, maybe the GB uses other style from the ICS while reading the threads.. I really have no idea

Well, my solution was a stupid one but it did work...XD
I had around 8000messages and when I tried to restore I always got an error after the first 700-1500messages.After that the phone's internal sms ap crashed and the go sms didn't see the messages so I restarted the phone. After restart the messages were there. When I went to restore again sms backup and restore skipped those messages and restored another 700-1500...So I repeated the proces around 10times and it worked.haha
Now I want to back it up with Titanium Backup just in case but I don't know how..jet.
