Nexus 5 is made by LG, not Samsung.
You can use this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bubblesoft.android.bubbleupnp
It's BubbleUPnP UPnP/DLNA, it's use DLNA to connect/control Samsung TV. I have Samsung TV once and it working.
How to use:
1. Install this app to your Nexus 5
2. Open Connection opition by Remote
3. Choose DLNA and enjoy.
Good luck!
Thank you!!! Today i try and i look if it works with my tv!
hello, use the smart remote works fine on the N5 and samsung TV

Mouse replacement (for presentation or joke): gPad
I control my pc using "teamviewer", a really useful app! It works fluently even with a weak wifi signal. Another useful app is "AndroMouse", I use it like a remote when I'm watching movies on the pc.
Thanks

You can control your computer via shh if you got an ssh server on there and its linux
I control my car's cd player. It's a Sony dsx-a50bt and it haves bluetooth so I can listen to music or watch videos and movies inside my phone through the car's speakers.I can also make calls without any handsfree, the player haves a built-in mic.
I used to have a Galaxy S that had a "Samsung remote" app that was made my Samsung and allowed me to control my TV via network (wifi). I now have an S4 and can't find the same app to use? There is an infrared control app but I haven't found the network control app from Samsung on the S4..any ideas?
No need for it, use watch on app it works better than the original wifi one.
Otherwise if you have titanium on the s1 back it up and copy it across.

But it appears to be IR only? If not in the same room as the TV or not in range..

Has anybody found a way to mirror google browser from samsung galaxy s3 to google chromecast?
Sad fact, that Miracasts isnt implemented anywhere although every wifi-direct able device should be able to use Miracast. (Im hoping for XBMC)

Hello,
Does someone know if it is possible to mirror my phones screen to my TV ?
Its a Samsung UE40F6400
It had WiFi, and its a smart TV.
When i duplicate screen under Display its connected, and then my TV says connection is stopped.
Running stock rom, Faux kernel 03B06
Anyone?
Same thing happens to me. I have a Sony Smart tv with miracast but I can't get my Nexus 5 or my Galaxy S3 to mirror. I'm getting frustrated.

Miracast is absolute utter garbage technology. Its seriously one of the ****tiest standards ever to grace mobile computing, mostly because there just is no standard. It can work with one device and then not work with another, even though everything is miracast enabled. Its probably not worth your time trying to figure out, because even when you do its frustratingly awful sometimes. I got it working finally on my nexus 4 and 7, but even when the phone or tablet was within a foot of the damn miracast receiver it would still lag and lose connection while playing video.

Its not that bad. with the latest drivers its actually pretty stable with everything I have thrown at it. note 8, yoga2, venue 8 pro, nexus 5 and gs4.
to answer the op samsung makes it so only samsung devices can mirror with their tvs. hopefully they change this soon but until then you need to buy a ptv3000 or similar.
What does it check, could it work if i change build.prop or something else?
Any developer know how to get allshare on Nexus 5?
Or how to fake my phone to connect it to the TV with wirekess display?
Still looking.
Anyone ?

My N5 miracasts perfectly with my Sony smart TV (Except sometimes it lags or freezes and I have to reconnect) but I do have to go into the specific 'Screen Mirror' input channel.
Have you tried going into the specific source for Mirroring? Not sure if this will be applicable to Samsung TV's though.

Samsung got some modified miracast that works with allshare cast for samsung devices.
Is it possible to port those apps?

Today my TV updated to version 1117 after checking in menu.
Its working now with nexus 5,android 4.4.2 stock, faux 8u kernel.
But cant really use it when gaming, got some lagg, but its a good start that samsung now accepts a LG phone like the Nexus 5

1 more question.
Can i force the audio to my headphone while using miracast?
Tried SoundAbout and some other apps without success.

is there any alternative?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the nexus 5 doesn't even have the hardware to be able to do it. Only alternative I think would be something like a smart tv where you can just use it as a remote via Bluetooth or over the network
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
There's no alternative. N5 doesn't have IR. If you have a net connected TV there are apps
