Xbox 360 controller. - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So Ive got a wired xbox 360 controller and an OTG cable. For some reason the only program that picks the controller up is the USB/BT control center. Ive used the controller and another OTG with my HTC phone and its worked fine with NDS Emulators and such, but nothing seems to work on my tablet. Anyone know what to do?

So I've got to root my tab, was hoping I didn't have to as I've tried rooting it through the instructions from this website but can never seem to get it working.

Flash latest NEXT Kernel + proprietary-vendor-samsung.zip - it supports XBox controller (you need to enable it inside init.d script), only donĀ“t know about the wifi-controller.... reported working on a cable-xbox-controller

Did you try using AllShare over wifi? I don't see how the 360 would simply be able to interface with an Android phone over USB.

No I haven't and I figured it'd work because u can play movies from other similar devices through USB, it basically would do like a computer and show you the files stored on the device for playback but I can't get mine to work

Did you try mounting the USB from the phone's notification menu while it was plugged in? Keep in mind that the phone usually mounts 2 drives at once (internal and external SD), so I'm not sure what the 360 would have in that realm of USB support.

Actually yes I did try that and im guessing since it does mount both at the same time, the 369 cnt catch them both since they're both from one device

I'm not sure it will mount the sd card to a 360. I know people have issues with usb equiped radios doing this.
also all share won't work. last I checked the 360 doesn't include dlna. though it could easily be added in an update ms doesn't seems interested in this as it is already upnp and a media center extender. I think they want to give any reason to have the newest updates of media player because they need wga to install and makes people want a copy of windows that's not pirated and pushes widows 7 with media center.
you would need a upnp market app or a media server with dlna. then you may be able to find media from the phone on the server and route it to the 360 with either upnp or as a media center extender.

oh that's a thought. if there are issues because it shows 2 drives you.may be able to unmount a sd card from settings beforehand. worth a shot really.

I covered that in my post. he is connected to a media center pc. you need a pc wIth win 7 or vista or xp media center if anyone still has that running to do this. on its own it doesn't support dlna. this also means you may need a copy of windows that passes windows genuine advantage. not 100% on that but i tried the whole media center extender back in the day with xp pro and added the proper files and registry keys to make it into media center (but better) also added the tablet pc files and wanted to add wii mote support but didn't have a wiimote. I had trouble getting it to work because I coulnt update media player or something. I haven't tried since windows 7 came out because I have a dlna tv.

Oh, I misunderstood the thread I found that link in. I thought Media Center was a reference to XBMC or something. Disregard my post.

Umm, why not just connect it to the tv directly?

its streams through your wifi network. you know how you stream movies from your pc to your 360 or ps3? yea same thing just with your phone. the free version kinda skips and doesnt work very well but i got the paid version and dont regret it at all. it's on the market try out the free version see if its what your looking for
here is my 2 cents.
the xbox can only see the main usb drive. aka. if you have a usb drive, and it has multiple partitions, it will only see the primary first partition.
this is an issue even with some portable hard drives that have a flash partition built in for their driver software, thats the only partition the xbox sees.
it also only sees fat32, and your phone is ext4 probably. or the other formats.
there could be 5 reasons it wont see it.

The internal storage is always FAT32. You're thinking of the system and app/data partitions.

Streaming phone`s screen to another Android

As title says. I have two HTC Sensation`s and want to connect one of them to TV via MHL Link, and use another one, but see it`s screen wirelessly on TV. I hope I explained it right. Is there any app that lets stream one phone`s screen to another?

Nope, your best bet would be to download an Aosp rom with working MHL, then connect to the phone by Bluetooth with a Nintendo Wii controller, you'll have to use the TV as a primary screen unless you want to sit next to the phone, you'll have to download an app to allow use of the Wii controller through menus, Wiimote is good!

for example to play games on TV from Sensation wirelessly. Or to watch movies and swap between them while sitting on sofa
Hi,
I do have configured my sensation with my Gtab to do something like you want.
There are a couple of possibilities:
A) using imediashare little (free on the market) on both devices you can stream from one to the other. You can also use the DLNA of the album apk.
B) using tablet remote (free on the market) you can control one device with the other. In that way you can have an Android TV.
C) get a BT mouse and keyboard, and control your phone remotely.
Hope it help.
Brgds

in this video I can see cursor on Sense 3.6 (ARHD6.1.1). Do you think it`s fake? I`m not sure now Has anyone tried it?
edit:At 0:28 you can see cursor even in Launcher.
edit2: As in video, bluetooth mouse and keyboard works. Mouse shows cursor everywhere. The only problem is that both buttons on mouse works as click, no back button on mouse. But I have back button on keyboard, so that`s not a problem. ROM I`m using is PKMN v5.1.

I believe that in order to pair the ps3 controller only root is required. So you dont have to flash aokp, dont have to lose sense for the controller option to work

Sense won't recognise half the controllers buttons and would have problems connecting, sense doesn't have a full Bluetooth stack like AOSP, so 70% of Bluetooth input is ignored
Now you can use our new app, VMLite VNC Server to do that, you run the server on phone, and open a browser on the other to view and control the phone. VNC Viewer should also work.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver&hl=en
I use screen stream: https ://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mobzapp.screenstream.trial
Works like a charm using VLC on my other phone to watch it.
Hi,
I'm on the same situation as you (OP).
I installed XBMC on the phone connected to the TV and Yatse (XBMC controller) on the phone on my hand. There are some games and good add-ons for XBMC so you can have a good all round media center.
Give it a try...

Will we be able to rip the shield streaming app (assuming its an APK)?

and be able to use it on a android phone + a bluetooth controller?? I assume all the backend work is being done by your computers GPU's
Id love to be able to try that out when shield launches if anyone starts tinkering with it.
i guess it depends on if its a base .apk or if it requires framework like Ouya. hopefully the former. but i wonder how that would be without the controller? you would have to either have a controller hooked up to your pc directly.. or have some kind of base and receiver style app that emulated touch on your pc and receives commands from your phone/tablet?
Here u go..

It would really cool if someone could spoof it to run on any nvidia gpu. The we get proper controller support natively and no need for third party apps
I won't believe it until I see some youtube footage... or I try it on my Galaxy Note 3 that's in the mail right now

Unfortunately, it won't be as simple as spoofing since the reason it can only run on GTX 650s and above is because NVENC, which is the H.264 hardware encoder used for streaming video, is only available on Kepler cards. An alternate way would be to patch the Geforce Experience software to enable other encoders such as Intel's Quick Sync (available since the 2nd gen Core CPUs w/ iGPUs) or x264 (would require a powerful CPU since it will be software-based encoding). Being able to choose a different encoder would also open the possibility of using a non-Geforce card as well, though this would require more work to allow Geforce experience to run on a non-Geforce card.
Unless you mean spoof it to run on other Tegra powered phones. I'm at a loss on that end. Haha.
is it just me but the nvidia steaming apk isnt working
i have installed it on my sony xperia z ultra but i is greyed out and cant be opened also doesnt show in app drawer
You guys dint see this??? its been done works great..not ripped but ported.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2505510

Controlling Android Tab Remotely via phone?

Hi,
I have Android tablet connected to TV via HDMI. It has all my media. I use it to play media on TV.
Is it possible to control the tab via my android phone, kind of like a remote so I don't have to move to it every time I need to change anything.
Any ideas? Tried looking for apps etc, couldn't find much.
Thanks.

Kernel does not matter
only need for bluetooth driver to support it
try sixaxis controller
you first need to change the host of the ps3 via sixaxis pair tool
and use the sixaxis android app
needs root to use the app

im pretty sure that this will work
Never worked for me on whyred. Doesn't work with otg or bluetooth. Although it worked kenzo 8.1 roms.
I got it working once while using AOSP Extended ROM with a magisk module called Sony Framework, never got it working in ANY ROMs whatsoever except that one, if you have some ways to make it work, I'm extremely interested by it ^^
