[Q] flashing a tegra note 4.3 on HP slate 7 Extreme - General Questions and Answers

hey guys, can someone help me install the Tegra Not 7's android 4.3 on my HP Slate 7 Extreme? i've never messed around with a software before so i have no idea what i'm supposed to do. can someone please walk me through the steps of what exactly is it that i need to do in order to get an installation of TN7 android 4.3? even though nVidia already pushed through an OTA over a month ago HP is being its derpy self and not pushing through the update so i would greatly appreciate some help.
also, if nVidia or releases an OTA update in the future and i've flashed the 4.3 will i be able to receive the update OTA or will i have to flash the new update again?

BUMP - can someone at least point me to the right direction from where i can learn how to do this? i really have no idea what i'm doing and i don't want to end up bricking my tablet

[Q] Picking up a refurb Xoom (Wifi) - how best to update, unlock, install ROM?

Hi all,
I am receiving a factory refurbished Wifi-only Xoom next week. I am guessing that it will be on 3.0, and I'd like to bring it up to the latest JB and install a custom rom (probably EOS 3 for the moment, then EOS 4 at the next MR).
What's the best procedure for this? Should I take OTA updates up to 4.1.2, then unlock, root and install a ROM? Or should I just unlock, root and flash a ROM from the start, i.e. skipping the OTA updates? Or does it not really matter?
Thanks in advance.

Not really answering your question, just an opinion .....
Why not just leave it on OTA 4.1.2? Unless you have a real need to unlock or some pressing need for 4.2. In my experience the difference between 4.1.2 and 4.2 is insignificant. EOS 3 is conceivably a back step on the OTA updates. Continually updating for updating's sake is fine if that is your hobby (and that is why you are here in these forums), but it might not achieve much. And you could replace a smooth stable 4.1.2 with a buggy and laggy 4.2 - for what?
If there is some app or function you need that requires root or a custom rom then that is a different story.
I am awaiting a refub MZ604 myself so I share you impulse, but I am taking a wait and see approach and giving it some thought.

Hey, thanks a lot for your advice. I wasn't so much counting on jumping ahead to 4.2 just yet, so I'm with you there.
Regarding a 4.1.1 ROM vs the 4.1.2 OTA, I had thought (just based on my personal experience with other Android devices, my Razr in particular) that a nice 4.1.1 ROM like EOS 3 would outperform stock, even a version that is one minor update ahead, since the ROM would (presumably) be optimized, free of bloatware, etc. Perhaps that's not a big issue with the Xoom?
Again, thanks. I'll probably take your advice and see how things go with 4.1.2 OTA for a while.
Interestingly, the refurbished Xoom came with 4.1.2 pre-loaded. I wasn't expecting that. Seems to be running fine.
Mine arrived today. It only took 11 days to cross the world. An MZ604 GED device. Came with 4.04 then promptly updated itself to 4.1.1 then a few minutes later it upgraded itself to 4.1.2. It is pure Android and runs fast and smoothly.
More than happy with this refurb - it looks brand new and 4.1.2 is new enough.

[Q] rooted a700 question

OK basically I am new to tablets and laptops and all that stuff so be patient.
I bought a second hand a700 and I believe its benn rooted to run jellybean. I'm not a big fan of having it rooted and wondering can an official update be done? If so how do I go about it? I'm In Ireland if that makes a difference.

RCA Viking Pro 10.1 RCT6303W87DK ANDROID 5.1 (UNTESTED)

Hello fellow XDA Users,
I found this firmware while doing some deep researching on the web, took me about 13 hours to download. I haven't tested it, nor modified it. I believe it may be the real thing since it was downloaded from a Chinese server.
Compatible with RCA Viking Pro 10.1 "xx.10.xx firmware not the xx.9.xx" Make sure your current firmware version has a "10" or greater in the middle and not a "9"
I am not responsible if you brick your device.

Nice! Anyone try this yet ?
Has anyone tried this yet? It's such a minor upgrade it's debatable if it's worth the risk since 5.1 was more of a bug-fix release than anything else, but if someone can test it out and it looks good I may be willing to wipe my device for it.
i would do this but im to chicken. anyone feel like trying it for me?
im going to try this on my old tablet but i got a new one with android 6.0
model # RCT2303W87M and RCT2303W87M7 for these newer ones
this one is also called "Viking pro 10"
Can someone update the link i bricked my tablet and its my last hope since all of the links are dead or doesnt flash for me + its the exact version ive bricked and i got no backup i will test it in case no one did during the time

HP Slatebook 14

Hello,
I acquired a HP Slatebook 14-p091nr recently and was hoping I might be able to get a newer version of Android to run off of it. It currently has the latest 4.4.2 update. I know a lot of today's apps need at least 5.0. I have attempted to find anyway to update or root to no avail. Any suggestions or is 4.4.2 the best option? Thank you for your time.
