[Q] Did the Bubba Kernel get discontinued? - HTC One Mini

Hello I am a new user on here... Ive been using this site for a long time and relaized why havent I made an account.... Anyways though I was wondering did the Bubba Kernal get discontinued for the HTC One Mini?

Yeah does seem a little quiet here on the kernel front. But I guess it doesn't help that HTC haven't released any source for devs to work on. Fingers crossed, but I think we might have to wait a bit for this phone to take off in the dev department. Maybe when CM11 becomes 100% stable we will see things move forward.

RuffBuster I could finally say thank you to you lol.... I wiped my phones OS and I read a post you wrote to recover it so thank you... I also heard that our minis is getting 4.4 KK in April.... Maybe a chance for overclocking.... :good:

The 4.4 came out on the international version. The at&t is either march or april. The sooner, the better. If I flash a rom that is not for at&t, apps on google play won't show up. Just like the games and some apps.
Edit: I think overclocking is only supported on custom kernels. The latest kernel source is still the android 4.2.2. And the kernels that we have can't overclock. On jmz's kernel it says gpu oc which means gpu overclock doesn't work. I tried with many gpu and cpu overclocking apps like tegrak, kernel tuner, and many other ones.

I9000 Gingerbread is out

There is a new leak of gingerbread out for the SGS over in the I9000, and apparently this is supposed to be version that will be the official release.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1009177
Nice, hopefully it doesn't take forever to see it officially released like it did with Froyo!
Waiting for source
I'm not too worried about AT&T, I believe once the source is released we will have many official releases XDA style
once the source is out we will have it. thank god for xda! and of coarse supercurio! i have been rocking out to music for the last couple days thanks to voodoo sound, not that the sound was bad before but now i can really appreciate it. also getting some better iem's (in ear monitors) the samsung ones are ok, well for an included accessory they are amazing but nothing compared to what is out there. i wouldnt think about getting a different phone right now. but i will see if the infuse has the hifi wolfson amp in it. the galaxy s 2 looks amazing but makes me wonder what will be out when i am up for a new contract.
Neat, hope the source appears sooner rather than later after the official release.
Lol... I must be losing it. And official sgs 2.3 leaks and this is the extent of the discussion. .... Lol wtf.
most people are more excited by cm7 for some reason. this is what i will use as soon as a reorient kernel comes about, all i can do is hope the source is realesed shortly. i think it was available pretty quick after jpx/jpy were released so i think it wont take long.
Nevermind

Regardless... It's a big deal. And none of the other threads made it very far. At all.
Go look at the i9000 forums. They're littered with posts and 2.3 sgs roms. All we have are crickets.
To be fair, we don't have the source available, so the leaked rom is kind of useless to us. It's a neat novelty, just to flash for a few minutes to see what's in store, but it's definitely not something you would use daily.
Just downloaded the Rom.. anyone know of a good kernel to use with this rom?? will CM7 kernel work with this rom? since its 2.3.3

Highly doubtful.. It should come with a compatible kernel and modem packaged in to it.
I wouldn't flash it straight through odin if I were you, though. If you have access to a linux machine, you should repackage it as a cwm flashable zip that doesn't flash boot or sbl, otherwise you risk either perma-bricking your phone or locking your bootloader.
My memory must be going. I remember us having ported i9000 2.2 roms well before the source dropped.

Stock kernel will boot, but there will be sound logic, screen orientation, button mapping...... problem list extends
Not until Sammy realeses the source code of GS gingerbread ROM that we can have reoriented kernels.

No... We didn't have reoriented kernel until JPM source was released. And before that, we were playing with the leak JI6 Captivate Froyo.
Guess it's time to start taking vitamins.

Vibrant owners have a port of this already, so yes it would seem that reorienting can be done without source, but devs aren't touching this for some reason...I really hope that changes cause I want to try this out but don't have the knowledge base to try to reorient the kernel myself and don't have time to learn currently.
No source, no kernel, no ROM. That simple.

Why Bother
Why bother with this total fail of an upgrade when there are so many better custom ROM's to choose from right here on xda?
I'm on Infused v2.2.3 and really like it but considering making the move to ZEUS soon.
I just can't see any reason to make a giant leap backward with the AT&T GB upgrade. It's just too little too late. YMMV though.
Maybe Samsung decided to use Zeus?
(Actually the GB release is running really well for myself. I haven't even rebooted yet since install last week.)

Yeah who likes a 100% working phone anyway, right?
meh.
now I know why there are no sources yet. and yeah the update is important if not just for sorcery code. never mind Samsung and att having respect for the customers....
think of how much better the roms can be if we don't have to mix libs from different leaks to fix video recording or playback and workarounds for the sdcard and wifi. and if they actually have HDMI. then we could swap kernels around without considering switching vold.fstab. yeah I hope the update is fixed soon so the code can be released finally.
someone is gonna have to get the update files and decrypt them to get a stock kernel though. (to extract initramfs and the root process will require a kernel to revert to until custom kernels are made.)
If you consider hdmi 100 percent, then I guess im running a 99 percent working rom......yea.....im good with that

hey I'm using Zeus myself. but I use the kl2 kernel on it and it would be nice if you didn't need to change vold.fstab back to stock to do so. I just want source code for new kenrels that could be maintained as all the old kernels were developed by people who are no longer here.

Dani, you are running zeus with the stock kernel?
I remembered dman said trying to run stock kernel in zeus will boot loop.
There were scripts not supported by stock kernel.
To make it run, just disable lagfix?
Just curious...

the init.d scripts wont run. that's true. but you should be able to change kernels after a reboot. its running for me. I didn't look at the scripts to see what other things I'm missing but the rom runs fine without the tweaks and lagfix.

well I ran it with infuseion a few days, but I get the themes, the rom is deodexed, and when ever I deodex something it seems to run weird either slow or choppy. Zeus doesn't. I dunno what dman uses to deodex but it works better than what I have used.

[Q] Is there any interest for a 4.4 KitKat ROM for the D2G?

If there is any interest, I could try to work on making one. KitKat is made to run on devices with at least half a gig of RAM, and that's what the D2G has, so it should be a really smooth ROM.

I've looked into this myself a while ago and it appears that the only limitation is the kernel, and having to forward port all the omap3 hardware hals from gb/ics.
From google's website:
OEMs building the next generation of Android devices can take advantage of targeted recommendations and options to run Android 4.4 efficiently, even on low-memory devices. Dalvik JIT code cache tuning, kernel samepage merging (KSM), swap to zRAM, and other optimizations help manage memory

It appears that Google utilizes KSM and zRAM on low memory devices, but we cannot compile these drivers because of locked kernel. Not sure why no one has ported 2ndboot yet from milestone2 or defy.. because that would greatly enhance our device's performance.
That's my 2c on it.
thx for reply me...

[KERNEL][CM11/4.4.2] [OVATION]»»Bexus-N!!!

Hello,
I took the opportunity since no one bothered to develop an up2date kernel for HD+/Ovation to release it my self :highfive:
Since am developing this for Acclaim/Nook Tablet the code is 99% straight forward.
My kernel is kinda ...awesome imo always, so i thought it worth the trouble to bring it on our soul brothers forum
I might do a hummingbird/HD in due time but as if i had to buy 1 of these i would pick HD+ i compiled it for that one first.
As you already guessed i don’t own the tablet so i expect some feedback from you guys.
Special thanks to verygreen and Hashcode for making these omap4 babies part of cm11 family.
Kernel is updated all the way from 3.031 to latest 3.0101.
If you want leave some feedback in this thread +/- is all welcome and appreciated.
Source code is here:
https://github.com/Ntemis/android_kernel_bn_omap
You can take it and use it in whatever rom/project freely but please first have in mind to give appropriate credits. :good:
Download Link here:

MD5 is: 464f41c00186d13c6af4df70c5e62bb5
And if you find my work useful there is a thank you button, use it! :highfive:
And the usual this stays mine thread
Any special features?

For me, coming from Succulents ROM, it hangs at the Cyanoboot screen and doesn't advance. I was able to reboot and enter TWRP to reinstall prior ROM. Appreciate the effort, something isn't quite right just yet.
so cool wait one for hd:laugh:
Hung at Cyanoboot for me, too. But I could not reinstall my old ROM. It kept failing. Had to install stock ROM but that doesn't want to finish booting, for some reason.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
I built using your kernel and the standard cm source tree. It boots up fine and works fine. It is faster than stock. I find it about the same as succulent's kernel which is also 3.0.101 (https://github.com/succulent/android_kernel_bn_omap). I don't know why it doesn't seem to boot when flashed over other builds, maybe a difference in kernel headers? I didn't try just flashing your kernel but cloned your github instead.
Thre are now several different omap4 android kernels floating around. Some have lots of kernel.org patches for stuff we don't need (x86 etc). Some are more stripped down. Some are newer. Some old (and slow, like our 3.0.31 version). Some are train wrecks created by applying every patch out there. It's a shame that TI gave up around 3.0.72. The omapzoom kernel was a nice base to use. I wish I was better at kernels. Thanks for your work. I'll keep testing it.
Good try but does not work, hangs at boot loader
Stuck at cynoboot for me too.had to go back to cm 10 nightly after complete wipe.

Stuck here as well
Unfortunately it hung at cyanoboot for me as well. @Demetris do you want a last kmesg?
Edit: forgot to say I was running an official cm11 nightly when I tried it out.
finally a custom kernel for our nook hd+ ??? cool
I was really excited to try this after your kernel totally rocked my original NT, but I didn't have much luck, sadly.
Just hung on CM logo. Flashed over a CM11 nightly (022114). Restored CWM backup, so no big deal. Just depressing.
Wish you had one of these - must be hard to write ROMs for a device that's not in front of you.

Kernel source release?

HTC might need a gentle reminder about releasing kernel sources, none of the U series have been released yet, they are required for us to support SlimRoms/LineageOS/aosp/caf style ROMs.

Heh they snuck that out in the few hours of sleep I had last night! Funny they released Vodafone UK source when they don't seem to be stocking the phone! I've been playing with building using the stock kernel. The biggest problem I'm having is actually restoring my stock backup afterwards. /Data either won't restore or when I do fully wipe it and get it to restore it won't accept my unlock code/pattern/fingerprint anymore.
Setting the phone up from scratch every time you test is a pita!

Ouch, that sounds bad. I'm not sure when I'll start hacking, my vacation is very close and by then I guess most features might be already done and ported for sense kernels.. tho the new soc may add some pain to the equation of simple patching
