i bought a samsung focus 2 from ebay not knowing it was originally a store demo model. it was on the 7.5 OS but was able to force the 7.8 official release onto it (just kept doing the update till it went through). but it didn't fix the issue with it loading the demo software once it would boot back up. i have followed all the ideas posted on here about doing soft/hard resets but know the info is stored on a portion of the phone that updates won't overwrite.
i have done my searches on here and they were never answered by the person who started the thread and were quite old as well. is there a generic ROM i can load that will block the demo or does anyone know how i can hack the phone (bootloader, registry) to stop or delete this nonsense.
i cannot get my money back for this phone as the person deleted their ebay/paypal account. i have been on the phone with both and it's just not going to happen. so my only option is to hack the phone.... i don't want to sell it to someone else knowing it has this problem as i know it will come back on me and i just don't have it in me to rip someone off like i was basically just done.
i'm extremely noob when it comes to hacking a phone or registry so would need it in simple instructions.
it seems like a nice phone and would be a great backup so i don't want to brick it or break it. i would like to eventually use it so anyones help would be greatly appreciated.

now that i look, i'm not 100% sure it actually updated to 7.8. it says it on the about screen, but it feels like it's still on 7.5... how can i be sure it's updated or not.

if you can find a custom rom for this device then that will do the trick but having looked at the focus 2 forum, it seems to be a device that has received no attention at all!
There are no unlocks, no roms, no nothing!
Mabie the other WP hacking sites might have one but on here there's nothing for that phone, strange!

Hi There I was just reading your post. I think you have a Focus 2? Well I have a Samsung Focus S, and it is also on demo mode, just finished debranding it and interloping it also. I also just finished disabling the demo mode. Don't know if it can also work on the Focus 2, it is just a registry edit. maybe it can work for you. I am getting my Samsung Galaxy S2 tomorrow from a guy that has used the phone for less than a week. He told me that the phone is like brand new, no scratches, etc. I am kind of worried, because he told me that he installed the latest version of Cyanogen 7. He told me to NOT reboot the phone, because I am going to encounter problems ; he told me that the android setup (or whatever) is going to pop up. Also, I don't know what he was talking about, but he said he couldn't delete applications.
I don't know anything about android, is it possible to change the OS or even fix the issues he has mentionned?
Edit : He told me that he unlocked the phone, using an ''illegal'' application. Will the guarantee still work ?
If I change OS, is it still going to be unlocked? Or will I have to re-unlock it?

A friend of mine told me that it might brick, if I am unlucky while changing OS. I am really afraid, since I am paying 500$ for it. Is it worth it? Less than 3 weeks of usage.
Edit : He just told me he fixed the issue, he can delete applications.

Here is the issue at hand...,
I just got my girlfriend the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 as a Christmas present.
I set it up for her since it was her first smartphone and it's all fine and good now.
However, there is a little problem.
I can't find a working Adobe Flash player on "Google Play" since it seems that Adobe has pulled the plug on that darn thing. Beats the heck out of me as to why they would do this but from what I could read on the internet it happened around August 2012 and now this thing isn't any longer supported for the Ace and some other devices.
Now the question is..., how do I get this downloaded and working on the Ace without having to do the whole circus with changing to custom ROM etc...? I would like to keep the original OS due to possible issues with the seller and the warranty (there is already one problem which is a faulty proximity sensor that actually has to be fixed under that warranty).
I am looking for a simple and clean install here. I don't have a problem with the security of the older Flash Player if anybody should ever wonder. I'll take this as a calculated risk (it's a girl's phone so I don't think it will ever wander to the darker corners of the internet, let alone that she knows how to get there).
So if there is anybody out there with a good idea - no matter how small or big - shoot right from the hip.

PS. I stumbled upon this website which lists a solution for this issue but am uncomfortable with downloading stuff like this directly from some page I don't know nothing about nor what the apk consists of. Might be serious though but have no clue. Anybody with some input on this one?

This is my first post and i opened an account to get help for my new HTC 8x. This is my first smartphone too. Bought it about a month ago from Ebay UK. But the phone came out to be a problem for me. I am a noob and finally i came to know that this is a demo phone.
1. I took some pictures, loaded some videos but next day the phone automatically delete all these including my customization. How to stop it doing that?
2. It will automatically show a demonstration screen after 3 minutes. How can i remove that?
3. I can not add my own email/facebook/twitter accounts. Even i can not use outlook.
I can still use this phone if i can manage to get a solution for above 3 problems. This is first high tech phone for me in exchange of my hard earned money. Please suggest and help.
I have no option to return the phone back as it is already 15 days over.

So sorry to hear that you have a problem with the phone.
I am not sure if I can really be of any help to you, but I will try to get some insights into this from other people I know.
Do you have these issues right from the beginning?
Did you try reset your phone? Reset option is under settings > about
I think the phone is programmed to behave that way.
See generally a demo phone is where people will take photos to test the camera, etc. and these things are automatically cleared each day,
making it a fresh for other customers.
Demonstration screen, same, to demonstrate the phone to the customer.
And generally demo phones won't allow you to add any accounts, since the phone is only for demo.
To overcome these issues, you have to flash a different ROM, if you are sure that is a UK phone, then you can try flashing the generic
ROM for UK phone, that should remove the existing version and install a usable version. THIS IS JUST AN IDEA. Please do thorough research
before flashing any ROM.
Meanwhile if I have anything to help you, I will post back here.

Hi, I have done a lot of research and not found an answer.
I have a Nokia Lumia 920 RM-820 (Product code 059N5T3, AT&T, USA). When I bought this phone last year it had Windows Phone 8. Seemed to work ok. I ran software updates and eventually it got to WP 8.1 with all updates. The microphone stopped working. It works for phone calls but if I made a video, talked to Cortana, talked to any other app, etc., it could not hear me.
I would like to make the microphone work even if I have to revert to WP8. I cannot figure out where to download the ROM for WP8. I do have the Lumia Software Recovery Tool, but as things stand now it only wants to flash the most recent official firmware onto my device. I believe that the ROM I want would be the most recent with Black and GDR3 - but I really don't know what I'm doing from experience, just from reading lots of stuff online.
I have tried all the troubleshooting steps on Microsoft's site, including a reset which was a hassle. I called their support phone number and they asked me have I tried this, have I tried that, and the answer was yes because I had followed all the steps on their site. They say it's a hardware problem and they gave me the phone number of some company that will fix it for about $60, supposedly. I think this is a stretch of the term "hardware problem" because the microphone DID work with Windows Phone 8!
I just want to restore this to working order so I can sell it. I've already moved on to a different Windows phone.
SO... can anyone point me to the right place for my WP8 ROM download for my RM-820 (Lumia 920) device? Or can anyone tell me how to solve this microphone question?
I work in PC support for a living and consider myself to have a high level of technical skill. But this is my own personal device I'm trying to fix. Thanks. I really appreciate any help I can get on this.

Two weeks ago I have bought an Aspera RT3 tablet to run Yamaha diagnostic applications. Unfortunately one of them will not run on a Android version 4.2 or less. The version installed on my tablet is 4.1.2 .
I have tried to update it but without any success and the manufacturer apparently doesn't have newer version of ROM for it. All I know is the RT3 runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 (MSM8625Q) chipset.
As it is, the tablet is completely useless to me so I would be very grateful if someone could find a solution to my problem. I am happy to pay for the service of course.

Not a bit. I still have the tablet but can not use it. The manufacturer sys that they "looking for a solution" but it looks more and more like a dead end. I would be very grateful if someone could still help with this.

Wow, you actually had contact from Aspera? Well done. They have been pretty ****ty for me to be honest. We have an ongoing software problem, I have sent them a huge load of logcats etc, they have not done a single thing to help and now just seem to screen my emails to them. Really surprising that a small company can survive without offering decent support. Thought that was how the pipped the big guys, by providing individual customer service to their small user base.
I am trying to get a refund on the devices as I am sicking of the issues we are having and without their help they will continue to occur.
