Hi all!
Yesterday I have flashed the CM11 rom and the Grimlock kernel on my TF300T tablet (JB 4.2 bootloader 10.6.1.27.5).
Soon after flashing the CM11 rom I've been experiencing problems with my wifi. The connection is really slow and often doesn't work! I have the same problem on the original OmniROM too.
On the previous rom, cromi-x, the wifi connection worked fine .
I would try kitakat but I need a wifi connection that works properly.
How can i fix the wifi issue?
Thanks in advance,
LcK.

Ok.. Go to settings/wifi/advanced.... Once there make sure you uncheck, network notification, scanning always available, wi-fi optimization, and in wifi region code make sure its set to your region... After making these changes do a reboot so to refresh everything.. See if that makes a difference... Thx lj
Thanks! Now the wifi connection works fine
Unfortunately the wifi issue was shown again. I set my country region (europe) and i have unchecked network notification, scanning always available and wi-fi optimization.
I can apply another fix?
Thanks in advance,
LcK

Have you done a factory reset (wiping data) before flashing CM? If not, give that a try.
No worries, your internal sdcard contents will not be wiped.
EDIT: Use recovery, don't use the wipe option on the bootloader screen. The latter seems to be a sure way to a brick.

Now this little tidbit is soooo important, it should almost be like part of the filename. Or better yet , the toggles set to the PROPER toggle settings for correct WiFi performance .... I suspect these settings, once applied, will correct a multitude of installs all over. Tks man.

This is a kernel I'm working on to improve on wifi. Specifically the Hidden SSID problem people are facing. If you guys could test it for me. Give me some feedback. I still have an aria, just not my primary phone.
Install via clockwork over an existing cyanogenmod 7 installation.
Also make sure to wipe cache / dalvik

But I would really like WiFi to just find my network after being out of range. Right now I need to turn WiFi off and then on to reestablish the connection.

+1 this is the only issue I have too. Once you go to another location where there are known AP's it will not connect to them without toggling wifi on/off. Have you addressed this in this kernel at all?
Thanks

I'll try wiping the cache and dalvik, and try it again.

Ok 2 reboots later and it is now dexopting. Looks like clockwork does not wipe dalvik if it is on sd-ext. I had to do it manually from the shell.
I had to do 3 off/on cycles to get it to connect to my network. I am broadcasting the SSID and it is WPA2-personal AES. It would connect automatically after reboot before, but not connect to a different network automatically without toggling on/off.
Edit: I have to do 3 off/on cycles now to connect after a reboot.

I'm restoring my backup. It looks like this isn't working for non-hidden networks.
It's odd - this wasn't a problem with nightly 43, which I still maintain is the best nightly published. WiFi re-connected without any issues in that build. Hidden SSIDs were never working in any CM7. CM6 - no problems.
I'm hoping this is something that is unique to 2.3, and not the CM7 build itself.
build #21 isnt pickign up my USB connection :S?
Doesn't find any of my broadcasted WiFi networks.
So, after I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 for my Tab 2, it cannot connect to my wifi. I flashed it with the proper procedures, like wiping Data and Dalvik cache, I've installed the Nightly builds to try to eliminate the problem and they kept crashing, so I reverted back to 10.1.3 and still no connection. I've reset my router and made sure that my password was right. Now I have no clue what to do next
Forgive me if this is in the wrong place, I've just signed up today.

Charge your tab to aprox 70% or more and Try this:
1-download a STOCK firmware file from the internet for your region( the region thing is not necessary, but just for the sake of it )
2- boot into recovery
3- wipe data/flactory reset
4- wipe cache
5-wipe dalvik
6-format /system
7- boot into download mode and flash the STOCK firmware file using ODIN.
i am assuming you have used ODIN before in this case... if you have not, then:
1-download ODIN ( http://samsung-updates.com/Odin307.zip )
2-make sure you have the correct drivers installed
3-connect the device ( in the text box, it should say added)
4- click on the pda option and select the firmware file ( make sure ONLY auto reboot and F.reset time are checked )
5- click on START button to flash the file.

I don't think its a ROM related issue. There must be some issue with your router itself... try resetting your router and change WPA/WPA2 password once...and reconnect again with new password. give me a feedback so that i can help you further.

I also changed the my encryption from WPA to WPA2 and used Wifi Manager from an apk. The one from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager
It came in a apk that i moved to my tablet to install. Still doesn't work.
I'm losing hope.
I am having the same issue for about a week now. It does not appear to be router related, or software related either.
We have two P3113 tablets in the house, and when mine went wonky - set my daughter's with same software and her's connects without issue.
Rooted, not rooted, stock recovery or custom. Stock software from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 and custom ROM's as well. Currently running CM 11 on both. One connects while the other does not
I think it may be hardware related

Your problem might be related to duplicated mac addreses. Could you check if both tabs have different mac addresses.
This also counts for all others, check if there are no other devices with the same mac.
When I was building CM for both my Xperia L & Tab, they both got the same mac address because they where build on tbe same host.

Mac addresses are different. There is an issue with the IP address on the one that does not connect. It is blank by default, and manually inputting the address does not help

I have this rather annoying problem with my OPO: When I'm on WiFi and go out of range and get within range of another WiFi (eg leaving from home in the morning and getting on the train where there's also WiFi) my OPO will not connect.
I've tried switching WiFi off and back on, tried forgetting network and connecting again but the network just displays as "Saved". Only thing that works is a reboot. Funny thing is that it actually detects open WiFi's and displays the question mark in the notification bar.
I've read that themes can cause WiFi problems so I haven't changed that. I'm using the Apex launcher with no visual changes.
I've rooted my phone but left the bootloader locked.
Any advice?
I'm rooted with the TWRP custom recovery installed. I had the same thing happen to me. If you toggle airplane mode on/off, it will reconnect. But, as for a solution, my fix was to restore a previous TWRP backup of my phone. I also had heard that the problem could be coming from a theme. What themes have you used? I bought the Flux theme and have been using its style and fonts. I was running the stock CM11s when this happend just a few days after getting my OPO. I would try a factory reset first. If that does not work, there is a thread in the OPO forums about flashing a factory image and getting back to 100% stock.
I have switched to the CM11 nightlies as of a couple of days ago. I will probably refrain from messing around with the theme packs for now.

Yesterday I failed to flash MAHDI and ended up clearing everything from my phone. I had to follow this guide:

I really hate to hear that you are still having the wifi issue. One would think that if you flashed all partitions with a factory image that it would solve the problem. You might want to have a look at this thread. This guy was unsuccessful in fixing his efs and bluetooth problems until he flashed Color OS and then went back to CM. Been there. Done that. Read the book. Got the t-shirt.
Flashed ColorOS.
Factory reset.
Booted and got through into ColorOS (skipped account setup).
Booted into recovery.

Restore backup of CM11S.
No dice :'-(
What are my options now?
A couple of days ago I completely wiped my OPO - radio, modem, everything and flashed a new stock image. Nothing has helped.
I really find it hard to believe this to be a hardware issue.

I was having the same issue, but here's what I did and it seems to have resolved my issue.
1) Updated firmware on my ASUS AC68 router
2) Boot into recovery mode (volume down+power), wipe cache and media, then factory wipe
3) When setting up phone, did not apply CM theme on the options after logging into CM account.
It seems like WiFi might drop when you get to homescreen, just reboot phone and Wifi should reconnect. Make sure to go into your WiFi settings and remove any networks that was saved, and re-add.
Still not ideal (since it seems like themes might be killing WiFi for some users), so hopefully a new OTA update will solve this problem.
Yesterday Wi-Fi works fine, but today it doesn't work.
I've always the "Turning Wi-Fi on..." message.
I had Puxe Nexus Rom, but then I've tried with stock rom and with a Nougat rom, but the problem persist.

Clean flash... wipe system, data, and caches, then flash only the ROM without Gapps and verify boot. If it still fails you will need to give us more information of what you were on before, especially any custom kernels you may have tried.
I tried.

I installed AOSP, Lineage OS and Ressurection Remix WITHOUT no other custom Kernels with and without installing Gapps. But when I run Chrome ,Maps or Mx Player, it soft reboots itself. And also the internet connnection and calls gets cutoff while downloading files. All Nougat roms that I installed has the same problem. So now I'm running stock rom 6.0.1 rooted and it has not shown any of the above problems. And also the phone lags from time to time on 7.x.x. I am completely hopeless now now. I love nougat. And I'm a big fan of Custom ROMs. Please can you find some other way.

Sounds like it's time to revert to stock via fastboot and start clean... Also be aware there is a known issue with LineageOS and others based on it that supplementl GPS data is broken, the fix is delete your APN and re-enter it manually without the "supl" APN type.
Done it.

Already done fastbooting to stock rom. And then tried installing custom roms but that didn't fix the problems.

What do you mean by GPS data is broken? What does the APN have to do with GPS. Do phone calls go through?
Thanks, just trying to understand cause I just flashed ViperOS, based on linageOS

There is a known issue with how LineageOS handles the APN entries in some cases (not everyone has this problem), specifically regarding APN type "supl" which is short for "Secure User Plane Location" which is location information from your carrier and it's towers which is used by location services (and GPS indirectly). I can't find the raised bug entry, but the fix is to delete your apn and rebuilt it manually, skipping "supl" in the APN Type field, but you still get SUPL data, it comes from "default". Remember that APN Type is used to tell your phone what type of data uses what APN, if a type isn't specified then it uses default (with the notable exception of mms which must be implicitly configured).
But I didn't really intend to make this a crash course in APN's and how they work, just suffice it to say that there is a GPS/Location problem with how LineageOS handles SUPL being configured in an APN... This is temporary and is either fixed or will soon be fixed in LineageOS and will trickle down to other ROM's based on it.

I have this problem too and it was very frustrating.
Goodluck!

Wow this is great, I think it might fix it. The only thing is - I can't delete the APN for some reason. Rooted with magisk.

Try making a new entry for APN first. And you have to save the original APN and then you can discard I think.

Not good sign if it happened on stock. The only thing I can think of is do a compete wipe and try start again with original firmware. Maybe there was somthing wrong from the factory. Look here https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3187750
Ya never know...
