Slow memory card speeds? - Samsung Infuse 4G

I've been having extremely slow loading times on my class 10 San disk sdcard on kitkat. It takes forever after boot for my music and pictures (if ever) to load.

First,
format it on phone or PC
If u don't want to format, Defragment it on your computer using window's disk defragmenter and you'll see it flying at >>8MB/s
NOTE: Infuse 4G does not support 64GB memory cards. 32GB is the max.

Phone crawls when downloading... :(

Does anyone else notice extreme performance drops in overall phone speed when downloading to the SD card from online? I have a 16 GB Sandisk Class 2, just FYI. I notice my phone is ridiculously laggy while trying to use it while downloading a file online to my SD card. Anyone else have the same problem or is this to be expected? perhaps it is not so laggy if I download to the phones internal SD card and not the external Sandisk I have.
Mine does it too. When downloading 2+ apps at the same time the device just crawls. Froyo does fix this as my Nexus did the same thing in 2.1.
same here, glad its not just me, i thought something might have been wrong.
Mine definitely slows when downloading/installing apps.

I don't know about when downloading random files, but my phone would just about stop responding to touch for at least a few seconds when downloading and installing apps, especially if you did more than one. The more you downloaded and installed at once, the worse it got.
Doing the mod moving the data partition to and ext3 partition on the SD card completely fixed this issue.
This is due to the way the phone uses the internal sd card with applications. Apparently 2.2 will fix this but its fixed for me now running jm2 with this fix.
Either wait for samsung to release froyo or dive in and learn some crazy.

Hi,
I notice you are on ICS.
Is it possible that when you moved the data from one card to the other, there was some old GB files still on it?
Best course of action is to save all your valuables (pictures, music, video, backups, etc.)onto your pc.
Then, format the card on your pc to FAT32.
Then, replace only your valuables, and stick the card back in your phone.Android will replace all the files it needs,so you do not need to worry about that.

I have a Lexar Class 6 16GB card, I thought I'd run AnTuTu and let you know what this is running at: Write 7.1 MB/s Read 19.2 MB/s. So roughly the same figures.
I've not seen your problem before. Try backing up the SDcard to your PC then a clean full (not quick) format then copy everything back.
Well , sometime increasing the sdcard cache using sd speed boost app may help.
But my first suggestion : clean your sdcard and format it (full format , not quick one).
I agree with the previous posts. Try a reformat and restore only your media/necessary files manually.
The phone can handle a 32GB card without a problem. I'm using a 32gb Sandisk c4 and I have no problems with lag even at that speed (writes at about 5 mb/s.
Father had the sane issue only he had a partition of his memory stick formatted to work with Apps2SD; a necessity on the HTC Desire.
It sounds like there is possibly something corrupted on your card, or you've messed around with the partitions. When your phone attempts to read something of the card that is corrupt, it will do it numerous tines until it'll skip the specific file it is trying to read. What you may or may not notice is that every time you have an SD Card issue, it's because your trying to do the same thing or access something that is corrupt.
As a result your phone panics and cries
Format it and your troubles should be over, I recommend using your phone to Format it, that way it'll get rid of any problems and immediately install required android files.
Adios!

SD Card Copy Speed

I can't seem to make the skyrocket copy any faster than 1mb, sometimes not even above 600kbs. Any ideas why?
I'm using slimbean 3.0 and the regular CWM flashed from rom manager.

2 possible solutions:
Download SD Speed Increase from the Market, that might work or
Go into Settings > Storage > Hit the menu key and choose USB Computer Connection and change it to MTP (this works very well for me).
What class is your sd card? Class 10 it's the fastest. It only copies at 10mbps. My skyrocket copies at half that around 5mbps. Unless I use cwm then I get the full 10.

Not sure on the class but when I plug it into my microsd to sd adapter I get speeds up to 6mbs
edit: looks like class 4
Just threw the card into my xperia play and it's cruising at 3mbs
Copy rate of 15mps >.<
Edit: Plugged in my class 10 card and I get the same copy rate of 600kps or less.
I'm gonna try the sd booster app
Edit: no luck
I'll try a different rom tonight, see if that makes any difference

SD-Booster

I've been playing around w/ the SD booster in ROM toolbox and wanted to see what other people were using for settings. I have a 64gb class 10 Sandisk card and bumped up the cache to 1024kb. I mainly use the card for storing pictures, movies, and games.

2048 is thought to be the sweet spot for class 10 cards.
I tried that same setting in my SGS with a 32 get card and noticed no difference. But about 2 weeks or so later, the phone suddenly began giving me messages saying my card was ready to remove. It would come back on and work fine, then do it again. I finally pulled it out and haven't been able to recover any of the 1000s of pictures I had taken.

I've been running 2048 since the first 32 GB class 10 cards came out. Running 64 GB now with no issues. Some of the cards were bad. Others have to do with rom and kernel.

memeory question

if i were to fill up my 16gb internal storage would my phone atomatically start using the 32gb external as the "external"sd to install apps? and im on 4.4.2 beanstalk any ideas?
Don't think so as I sometimes get low internal memory level (The approx. 2GB internal ROM).
For normal 16gb,I don't know. But it'll be safer to manually choose which apps to move/install on memory card as heavy apps can damage the external memory card (32gb) since its quality is lower than built in internal 16gb!
Ohhh I see then I'll switch my music from internal to external and see how much is freed
