If it is just for your homescreen, you can make custom shortcuts to it using LauncherPro or ADWLauncher.
Long press an empty spot on your homescreen > shortcuts > Choose the application ex. Messages, Press the picture to change the icon, and then press okay.
Or you can do it the hard way by extracting the .apk file and editing the icon .png file inside of it, recompiling it and reinstalling it onto the phone.
dear all,
i want to change my application name & icon without affecting there update if anyone can guide it me
You can download holo launcher or any custom launcher . They enable you to edit names of the apps.
In the attached pic is the holo launcher. Long tap on the app you want to rename.

If I'm not mistaken that's the weather from Google Now.
Here's what you can try to do: Open up Google now ( if you have jelly bean you will find it as Voice Search), configure a card with the weather and your current location and then go on your homescreen, long tap to add a widget and select google now. You should see a widget with the weather card in there.

It is a widget from the app Eye In the Sky Weather. It is an excellent weather app available on the Play Store, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.citc.weather

Hello guys. I have a phone with LDPI display and I was wondering if it was possible to change the size of the text of an app. In this case, the Yahoo Weather app.
I'm not root in my phone yet. I read from guy in this forum that could root of the S5301.
Here I attach some pics to show the illegible text.
Root your phone install Xposed framework after that install Xposed app settings change the font size
