As per title, been trying to get this app and its not in the play store for the z1, although apparently its available for the z1, my mates got it on his note 3 an it works just fine. I've tried xposed play store fixes but it makes no difference.

"As per title, been trying to get this app and its not in the play store for the z1"
Yea i ment the app the actual name is virgin tv anywhere too, thought that would be obvious to anyone who actually has it.
I've also read that it's available for the Z1 but it's not appearing in the play store for me? Not 100% as to why but it's hidden.
Perhaps my device is reported as something else other than the Z1, I do have play store fixes on my phone via xposed but I have turned that off and tried again to no avail.
So anyone who's got it on their z1 and has it working, can you share as to how please?
Cheers.

Tried an APK the other day and it wouldn't install. Not 100% as to why.
That links dead too m8.
I have a working APK, (by working I mean that it's a valid APK and will try to install), I get a not installed error, do you think pushing to system it may install? Or do you think altering permissions may get it to run? Cheers m8.

I tried that yesterday though and it said I don't have any devices that it's installable on, but today it worked ?
Bloody thing doesn't work on rooted phones Anyone get this working, let me know.
Root cloak didn't work, nor did hide my root.
What a pain in the backside.
Not on a z1 but on my nexus 4 I had to temp disable root from within the supersu app.
Is your z1 on Virgin mobile by the way, I'm hoping to get one soon so interested to see you've managed to root yours.

Nope i'm on EE, but don't buy direct from a carrier as you most likely won't be able to unlock the bootloader, i found that out the hard way, ended up sending it off for repair when i bricked it, but sent it via a third party and got back an unlockable phone.
You don't want to go down that road m8.
So on the Nexus 4 you were able to use the app by doing what exactly? Removing root from within the superuser app itself??
PS: In all fairness the Z1 is a great phone but if you are looking to buy then hold fire and get something else in a few months, theres some pretty beefy phones on the way, the HTC One (2) will be a winner.
Actually now that I think about it, in selected the option to perm unroot the phone so not ideal..... Although with nexus 4 I just had to reflash supersu from recovery to get it back. Not ideal.
As for my next phone, I'm giving up on HTC after 4 previous phone, I got fed up of sense.
Of course the z2 will be announced later this month so I might hold off and see....

Nah m8, HTC Sense is by far and away the best UI there is, it just works and is functional to perfection.
Only went with the Z1 as on paper it was great, i've had my ups and downs with it and it's been ok as of late.
I do miss some HTC features though.
I'm using the Nexus 5 launcher too so besides the camera and stock apps theres very little left from stock.
As for the Virgin app not working, i could remove root but any time i decide to mess with my phone i always end up having to redo the whole thing. The maker of rootcloak has recognised that the virgin app doesn't work and is most likely working on a fix, so hopefully at some point it'll be functional, more and more people will want to use the app as it's a great thing to have on your phone, being rooted simply shouldn't be an issue and Virgin are a55holes for making it an issue just because the powers that be have told them to.

Unfortunately Virgin are no different to Sky etc - the content providers insist on protecting from root, otherwise they won't licence the channels. No point in blaming Virgin really, the industry is the issue. The irony of course is that on PCs/Macs it's much easier to rip streams than a tablet/phone so why the restrictions on mobile devices when laptops etc are a greater risk is beyond me.
However, good news is that the latest version of TV Anywhere (downloaded today from Play store) which is now compatible with 4.4 seems to work with Rootcloak - I just tried it on my Nexus 10 (not tried my Z1 yet but not so bothered about use on phone) and it asks for superuser (which I denied) and even though I get a toast message from SuperUser (saying 'denied') it gets through and streams channels
Not sure if they realise and will fix that in a later version, but will definitely be backing up this version's .apk

I don't really know how that works, but as long as you maintain a market link for the app (whether it's actually installed or not, but shows in your apps section of the Market), I think you'd still be able to install it. No experience with that at all, though.
I'm losing track in my head of who's rooted and who's not around here, but if you're rooted, you can always just copy the apk to your sdcard and reinstall it manually, later, right?
That's what I do

Yeah, and I do similar for apps that I can't see in the Market on the Nexus S. I download them on my SGS or N1, then upload the apk to my dropbox and install from there on the NS. Tedious, but it works.
If you have come across this thread I am sure you will know what Quickflix is. Now you would probably also know that the Android app is only available on the Samsung App store (so that's ONLY on Samsung devices). Fortunately, my mother bought a Note 10.1 and I downloaded the .apk, ripped it and then popped it into Dropbox and installed it on my Nexus 10. Works like a charm. Not sure how this would work on devices with different form factors but it wont hurt to try.
Below is the APK. Enjoy.
Dropbox: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qucbwmslbzen9p4/com.quickflix.library.apk

Please post below your experience with it on your Device and I'll try keep a list of working devices.
NOTE: Quickflix is a PAID service. It costs $15 a month, excluding new releases.
Working Devices:
All Samsung Devices (download on Samsung App store)
Nexus 10
Its a subscription service though right?

Yeah but you can get a 14 day trial to start with, and if you buy a qualifying Samsung device you get 3 months free.

Thanks for the great work, I've been hastling Quickflix to release and app for all Android devices. I can confirm that it runs on both the Asus TF300 and Nexus 7 running stock firmware and jellybean. The only thing I could fault is the volume is low on the TF300. If you have the fix for this it would be amazing.
Keep up the great work
Works on my non-rooted G7.
Successfully installed it on my Rooted Acro S, but when I tried to play a video, the app checks for root and comes up with a message "Videos will not play on rooted devices"
((
If you go here you get a free 2 months.
http://www.quickflix.com.au/mygift
I use Root Cloak and that works for a lot of things but this isn't one of them.
Does anyone know what Quickflix actually looks for? That way we can block it in RootCloak and it will work.
And BTW, its $10 a month for streaming only

Have you tried the hiddenroot apk? There is a module for this too on xposed framework.Give it a try! Good look!:fingers-crossed:
Thanks all, but apparently QuickFlix just released a new version of the software that now works on everything! I have been using it for the last 4 days and it is great! No more need to hide the root and it is a legit app off the Play Store!
Thanks for the suggestions anyway

Since the other thread has several posts making it clear it is to talk about Modem only....
I decided to unroot and bravely take the new update all in the name of science and discovery as well as I like to do stupid things. And well selfishly I was intrigued by the possibility of improved wifi as my device continuously connected to my work WiFi then disconnected and connected again to drain my battery or until I remembered to turn it off.
We all know about the smearing fix and apps to SD. Here is a list of their changes I have noticed. Feel free to use this as a general discussion of the update.
-The haptic feedback is softer now.
-Camera firmware has updated and so far seems to have improved image quality.
-If you had WIFI problems, mine are resolved to I am 95% positive yours will be too. <-- WiFi then proved just as troublesome.
-Smoother transition effects (the effect itself seems new to me)
- on the about device page in settings there is a secure boot status now.(there has been talk about this for this update, I didn't remember anything there before.) Screenshot included.

I've noticed only these few things from just a few minutes.
- New Wallpapers
- About Device Icon is now Yellow
- Icon for Battery in App Drawer
- Icon for Data in App Drawer
I'll probably notice more as I have it longer, I don't know if this is new. But I never noticed the bubbles on messaging before to indicate I have a message, so I don't know if that's new.
Edit: It feels a heck of a lot smoother to.

To late for me to flash any roms until a root patch comes to this firmware. When the patched firmware with the root access is posted later by scrosler then hopefully someone can answer that question assuming the only change in it is the addition of superuser.
I am 99% certain that if it can't be rooted then it can't be lokied until Loki is updated.

I see people complain about WiFi all the time, and 99% of the time it's the router and not the phone.
Your work router sucks, that is why your phone is having issues. No firmware update is gunna fix that.

I would normally want to agree but I've used a number a phones and devices Samsung and other manufacturers on the router with no problems. This phone has trouble staying connected. I understand it has to do with a certain chip set. This to me says no reason the router manufacturer and users need to make changes for 1 device. Samsung needs to investigate and make the fix. Hopefully it can be a software fix.
If you bought a new lawnmower that didn't cut your grass, would you blame the grass or lawnmower? Considering the grass hasn't changed and the old mower cut it just fine until it broke, I would assume you would diagnose the new mower.

Happening to me on my 2012 stock nonrooted Nexus 7 and my S-Off but stock Verizon HTC ONE on both 4g lte and wifi. Seems to be a problem with google's servers.
Same here time out error
Same on my xperia play. Definitely a play store issue

Hello,
I've been helping a friend with her Tab 2 p5110 (Wi-Fi model).
Late last year I rooted it and installed CyanogenMod (10.1.3 Stable).
It's much better than the bloated original rom, however one of her primary uses of the tablet was to watch TV shows from catch-up apps, now of which at least one isn't working.
It's Plus7 - that of the Seven Network in Australia.
It says something about it not being able to work on rooted or modified devices for copyright reasons.
I may not have searched enough or properly, but I was wondering if there's any way you can trick the app into believing it's using the original firmware, or has the rights restrictions it requires to work properly, on a rooted device?
I would hate to have go back to the Samslow rom...
Many thanks,
Tom
There's a module for the Xposed framework that will hide root, but I'm not sure if it'll work on the app you have. It would be worth a try.

Thanks, sounds like it's probably RootCloak.
There's also been a version released recently using the Cydia substrate.
I'll try them soon and see how it goes.

Ya, that's it. Hope it works for you. I hate app developers that feel the need to block the mod community.
