Alternate solution: If you are rooted, you can use screen cast to record your screen directly. Or use HDMI output to record on another device, which should work independent of the tablet.

The app screencast works fine on my tf300t running CM11 and it records audio from the microphone lined up with video from the display.

Cool features that actually work

Thought I'd make a thread for things that do work well on the Sensation and may make people stick to this phone until the other issues are resolved.
DLNA function: I spent a few hours putting my Samsung TV on my network and I can send video, pics and music direct from my phone to my TV via Wifi from anywhere in the house and its very very good. I have a film in AVI and it steamed perfectly.
Forward SMS to email: I think this is in 2.3.3 anyway but useful when phone it unusable like at some work places.
Built in streaming: I can scan music, videos and pics from a file server and play them on the phone directly with no additional software.
Lexar 32 gig MicroSD Class 10: Definitly works fine in this phone. Check Amazon
Built in slideshow as wallpaper: I like having different background images randomly and this is good for that. Point it at a folder full of images (I have a folder full of downloaded landscapes, sea, etc., type images specifcally for this. It replaces the need for things like Wallpaper Rotator. Only snag is that it changes the images every 30 seconds or so so it maybe CPU intensive (doesn't seem to be though). I'd rather it was hourly but can't see anywhere to change it.
Please add others as you find them.
Lockscreen icons and lockscreen animations: I like having weather animations or my photos spinning around under the lock screen, looks cool. Also being able to change the lock screen icons does make that feature quite handy

Make sure you have Wi-Fi turned on
(Also ensure Media Centre on your PC is set to share music, videos etc)
Go to Gallery
At the top where it says ALBUMS, click and select Media Servers
Select your PC
Mine says Media PC: Media
then it will find the catagories of the files it can find, you just chose what you wish to play
It really is that simple!!

If your streaming server is any good it can transcode .mkv on the fly to something the phone can play.
I'll go try it with an MKV file right now...bear with me, wife has the remote
I am using Windows 7 as the media server, btw
No good with MKV. None of the players on my phone will play it natively even though my Samsung TV plays them fine from a hardrive or memory stick. On my phone I have Divxplayer (or demoplayer) and moboplayer and they wont play it on the phone itself, let along anywhere else. Need a player that supports these. I think the Desire used to play MKV with Divxplayer but I don't think it likes the Sensation resolution.
Anyone any ideas?

Thanks! That is simple! Not tried it yet, but presumably it will work with the built-in Windows Media Player server of Windows 7, and also TVersity, just like my PS3 does and can see both.
Could you please advise as to whether HDMI mirroring works, particularly in landscape mode?
Also do you have a Wiimote? The BT stack should support it but I see people asking this question feverishly as though they're concerned... I think it should work, but now everyone's casting doubts in my mind.
PS. You're a lucky bastard lol... I'm dying to get a Sensation!!

wii mote will not work because htc sense messes it up it does it for all sense devices
Rock player supports mkv also try using skifta to stream it via dlna
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Rockplayer may support MKV but it doesn't like the resolution or something because it drops out as soon as it starts to play. Actually Rockplayer plays MKV fine on my wife's Desire so it must be a resolution issue because as the Sensation is qHD

It depend about your phone specification, like model, graphic card (with or without Tegra 2/3), OS and other..
That i know, you can record trough app that you can install on your phone or trough pc, with usb cable.
When you will find the app, make sure that USB debugging mode is ACTIVATED.
I'm sorry, but i don't know more about specifically software =\
But Google is our god man
I found something, but i still can't post links for the 10 post rule.
Maybe contact me on MP
Have a nice day! (and sorry for my bad english)
I used Screencast Video Recorder to make a gameplay video of my app.
There's a free demo version too, if you wanna try.
capturing in realtime won`t slow down your device? if you want to make it goof, i would buy a device with HDMI out and then record it with a capture card or something.

[Q] how to see Popcorn on TV?

hi,
I use popcorn with the AM7 and I would like to watch it on the TV screen. Do you know how it could be transformed? I don't think chromecast will work (unless someone will assure - popcorn is not gallery...)
1. software option?
2. if not - what cable do we need?
Thx
I'm using it with chromecast, works great!
Popcorn and netflix works great and you can even turn of mt7 display to safe battery.
For kodi you have to keep it on (in screen mirroring modus)

Great news!
Do you use the original Chromecast hardware, or an identical Chinese stick is enough?
Does the Chromecast enable the mirroring icon on the cell screen to choose?
Does it real 1080p on screen without loosing quality?
Also sound?
Thx

Using the Chromecast as well. No problems, it works on Popcorn Time, Netflix, YouTube and you can even show off your own movies and pictures through the google photo app (need to sync them though, I remember)!

Differences are :
Chromecast mirroring is only one of the features of this app (you can also mirror to many other kind of target devices, broadcast to Internet, and record)
Official Chromecast mirroring gives better latency
It's works for some devices for which Chromecast mirroring is not possible with Google's app
You can choose to stream with internal audio OR microphone audio OR both
You can change many settings such framerate, bitrate, and resolution to tweak quality
Software encoding provides many live video effects
probably few other differences but I think I told you most important

It might be because of the ROM you are using, but I am not sure.
I'll try to check if this is a problem related to this device, but it would be great to know if it is the same with Samsung's Lollipop ROM...
I can only get it to have Su access like 1 out of 8 times. But Su actually grants access evertime it just seems the app doesn't know. Then when it does work I can't get it to actually stream to twitch. It just says "Mirroring is paused" when I press play. Then if I press stop it automatically goes back to the opening screen giving me instructions for if i'm not rooted or Android 5.0.

-its recording well if i don't start the camera app on the desktop.
If I do that it crashes or doesn't save the video or saves but doesn't play the full video.

Hi Sloosh,
In the quest of helping you fix this problem , I will send all the details of the device . My device android version is 4.1.2 and its on a samsung camera s3 . For what i saw , I needed the code to run it on root that you guys provided(start service.sh) .I think the problem lands on the class you used for the recording on the application . Once it starts the screen recording and the camera app at the same time there could be a conflict on the class or the resources.
*Updated my app
I did all the process and at the end when i open the camera app it looks like it works well. When i see the video the video is just damaged , it doesn't play the full video and stops each 3 seconds . I have to play it again and again and the camera part doesn't show .
I would like to help you more but the Screen Stream app is driving me crazy . With all the bugs and the publicity it takes me like 5 minutes to run the application . If i want to use it again the next day, I have to run startservice.sh again.

Hi, I'm having issues with the audio, if I have it set to internal and enable it to play on my device as well it will echo really bad on the stream (using it to stream on Twitch). Its not so bad if I don't have it play on my device, but I really like to have it play on my phone as well when playing a game.

Camera uses a lot of things, it might also be an opengl issue because it uses opengl for video effects.
So if I understand well now the camera works well, but you have troubles with recording a good video file, is it correct ?
If so, can you please let me know the settings you are using ?
Have you tried to enable hardware encoding option ? It should be disabled by default with your device because it is running Android 4.1, this is a quite old Android version now and causes some troubles...

What do you mean by it will "echo really bad on the stream" ? Do you mean it cuts audio or produces scratches on the stream side ?

On the stream side, it sounds like its playing the audio twice, one is faint but you can for sure hear it. It almost sounds like it my phones microphone picking it up, but I do not have it set to mic/internal (mixed), I only have it set to Internal and then check the "keep on phone" option. If I do not have that option selected it works fine.
