thanks in advice

If it's the at&t model, click redpoint's Resource Compilation thread in my signature, navigate to the root section and find the appropriate method for your current software/firmware. If your phone is not an at&t model just go to htcdev.com and unlock your bootloader. Read the Evita FAQ and How-To Guide For Beginners threads in my signature too, they're full of information you need.

You're gonna need to update your firmware first. 3.18 RUU then 2.15 firmware package.

some questions come to me:
this will delete the unlocked bootloader, super cid, or twrp?
i read that if you are super cid, and apply a ruu you will brick the device...no chance of brick with this?

It goes like this:
S-on + SuperCID + jb RUU = brick
S-off + SuperCID + jb RUU = no brick
Basically you're fine because you're s-off. The RUU returns your phone to a stock state which includes ROM, recovery, and firmware. Your unlocked bootloader and s-off status will survive the process though. All you need to do afterwards is flash TWRP again, flash the 2.15 firmware, and you'll be good to go.

Now the problem is, i am facing the mobile signal(not wifi) dropping issues and i have to revert back to at&t stock rom, i have downloaded the official at&t ruu 2.20.502.2.....exe,
but i am concerned with the doubt that will the ruu will work 100% on supercid 111111 without any problem after relocking the bootloder or do i have to revert back the stock at&t cid, and if yes then what is the procedure to revert back the stock at&t cid???????
If you ever want to unlock the bootloader again leave the cid alone. BTW you can just flash the radio from the new ota if you want. There's a thread in development section with radios

your question has been answered multiple times.
SuperCID will allow you to run the 2.20 RUU. The reason we're cautioning you is because once you do that, you will lose the ability to flash new radios at all and you'll have to flash a kernel in fast boot.
Also once you do this update to 2.20 you can't go backward to 1.85 even WITH SuperCID because the update includes a new HBOOT.

ok what will happen if i extract the rom.zip from the ruu and will extract and replace the hboot with earlier one and also the recovery with custom one and will rezip it and rename it as PJ83.img and will copy it to storage and run it in the current boot loader. will relock it before running the process.
Will this work and will i b able to flash the stock rom with same boot loader and custom recovery?
I AM AWARE INSTEAD OF DOING THIS I CAN JUST FLASH THE STOCK ROOTED 2.20 ROM FROM TWRP BUT I JUST WANT TO INCREASE MY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND WORK.

wats the latest RRU for HTC ONE XL .. and link to stock recoveries please
You don't need to update hboot to install custom ROMs.
RUU is recommended for some ROMs, as it seems to help with random reboots on some ROMs. But RUU is not strictly required.
Everything you will likely ask for is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Device will return to stock recovery when you RUU. But now sure why you are asking for that.

Agree. Follow advice above to flash latest RUU (here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37227608 ), and re-flash recovery . You will get a newer hboot along with that, but other elements of the RUU are more beneficial to some of the newer ROMs - hboot won't give you anything by itself.Make sure you are S-OFF before RUU or you may brick.

[Q] Revert back to stock

I am looking for a Stock T-Mobile Jelly Bean image that won't brick my phone. I tried searching for one, but I couldn't find anything or I found RUUs for outdated versions of HBoot. I am trying to revert back to stock, but I am sorta scared to do so with an outdated RUU. I have HBoot version 2.15 and Radio version 1.13.50.05.31. Thanks in advance.
Would this be the RUU I have to download? http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...531-10305008l-release-309489-signed-ics-2exe/
I would just prefer a nandroid backup of the stock image that I can just flash with CWM.
I downloaded the RUU, I just need to know if that is the correct one for my phone before I use it. I really don't want a bricked phone. I checked the MD5sum already and it matches, that is the only thing holding me back.

If you are on TMOB US then it's for you. Furthermore, you can match thr CID of your phone to that in the RUU.exe --> Firmware.zip --> android-info.txt.
You'll have to extract firmware.zip from temporary files when you run RUU without connecting phone.

The RUU installs the Stock Recovery automatically. You don't have to do anything extra.
You can find stock recovery (if you want to keep it for any purpose) inside the RUU (extraction would require you to run the RUU and then extract the recovery from Temporary Files)
OR
you can find it in the forums.
Hmmm, that's strange. Oh well I guess. When I tried to go into the recovery it just showed a red exclamation mark with a phone under it. I don't really need a recovery right now. Thanks for letting me know where I can find it.

I believe that is the stock recovery. The red exclamation mark is telling you that you don't have access to it. Perfectly normal.

So I should be able to run the RUU with lower boot like mine and it will upgrade the boot to 2.15 -
Is it true that with 2.15 hboot, modifying the CID is not allowed ?
Any reason why I should stay with 1.13 HBOOT and not go to 2.15 Hboot? Meaning any disadvantages of upgrading to HBOOT 2.15 ?
Well, say you updated your phone via ota & your cid is European or something. And all of the ruus for that CID are lower hboots. If u are s-on and and needed to ruu you wouldn't be able to.
But there is a guide to run a ota.zip for those people, so it isn't hopeless.
So not too many disadvantages.
In fact I just installed the newest Rom and firmware today. So my hboot is 2.16.
And the gossip is that update will be officially put out by HTC in a few weeks.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
Remember this.
if you want to go stock again in future (warranty purpose)
some providers have only provided an ota (only ruu with lower hboots) when upgrading to jb. So downgrading gets hard
It's not that easy to flash an ota as is a ruu.
If your s-off downgrading is no issue.

[Q] HBOOT 2.15 killing me...

*** WHAT MY PROBLEM IS***
PLEASE can someone confirm any AOSP ROM that works with 2.15 HBOOT?
***WHAT I KNOW***
( i know the CM 10.2 thread says that RUU 3.18 which will make the hboot 2.14 but since 2.15 is latest i assume it should support)
(i also know that [HBOOT 2.15 is essential for SENSE 5 4.2.2 to run,i believe that's the only reason people go for 2.15)
***WHAT I HAVE TRIED***
NOW from what i have tried is that the 1st stable cm 10 release doesn't work with 2.15 (obviously too old build) my screen also became responsive(i believe that because of touch panel firmware) then with the latest stable release of cm 10.1 it specified that it needs hboot 2.14 and hence couldn't flash.
with PAC 4.3 it does gets installed but screen is unresponsive and infinite bootloops!:silly:
***WILL THIS WORK***
so now if i RUU 3.18 i will have to unlock boot loader and root it (M SOFF SUPER CID) which i m not really ready to do!
now there are methods that can help u downgrade/upgrade your firmware , can i do that?
also will using torched kernel help in me in any way?
***WHY DO I WANT AOSP***
Viper XL 4.2.2 best ROM ever hats off but the thing is i dont know why but i have Signal issues i tried flashing the recommended RADIO version.
since the vendor had already RUUd my device that was meant from some ASIAN region and already came with SENSE 5 and i dint mess up with it in any way still i had signal issues (which are unpredictable) i found by GSAM BATTERY monitor that around 30 to 40% of my battery is consumed by RADIO.
also the best signal is around -81db
i also had some issues with camera!
and then there is the numerous options i can have with AOSP.
****LASTLY CAN ANYONE HELP****

Just RUU. Your bootloader will remain unlocked and your S-OFF will remain
After the RUU you can flash recovery and flash a rom. You can technically just flash the 2.14 firmware.zip by extracting it from an OTA or an RUU, but easier to just ruu. and you get a nice clean wipe too.
I misread the m soff part sorry. You could have just run the ruu and twrp and been done in the time it took you to write that post.

I wouldn't mess with extracting the firmware files from the OTAs manually. If one of the hboot modules is missing, a brick can result. The OP is probably OK, since he has already manually updated to hboot 2.15. But RUU is still seems the safest way.

Upgrading my hboot???

Hello all, here is my situation.
I recently purchased two used HTC One X phones. After a bit of research, I found out that they are actually the international version, the XL or Evita as they also go by. This is not a problem to me. I struggled getting them to take custom ROMs and I was finally able to get Cyanogenmod 10.0 installed. They are working great as is, however I would like to be able to update further, as there are a couple very minor bugs. Whenever I try to install an update through clockwordmod recovery, I always get a bootloader error. The number is spits out is 2.14, which I know is a never version of hboot. So, my question is, should I update my hboot (currently in 1.14.0002) to 2.14 in order to install newer versions of Cyanogenmod? If so, can you please provide detailed step by step instructions, or link me to a forum that does? Thank you.

Ok, firstly it isn't the hboot you need to update, it's the firmware. It just happens that the firmware contains the hboot, and the hboot version is what's used by the ROM installer to tell whether you've updated or not. First thing you'll need to do is get s-off, that's required for flashing the firmware.

Yes it will but getting that firmware requires you to run an RUU, which also requires s-off, and is a lot harder than just flashing the firmware package.

Flash a ROM, not really a major problem.

Flashed the right boot.img (somehow had the wrong one) now back in boot loop again. Any ideas? I did have to change my CID because I did not turn on debugging for ADB. Would that have something to do with it?
What are your bootloader details now? What did you change your CID to? And what did that have to do with debugging? What ROM did you flash?

EVITA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
CID-11111111
HBOOT 1.14.0002
Flashed Cyanogenmod 10.0.0. I was unable to use the last command successfully on facepalm's tutorial without allow ADB in android debugging.
Ok, but what does changing your CID have to do with that? Update your recovery to the latest version and flash a more recent ROM. You no longer need to flash any boot.img when you have s-off.

Ummm... how do I transfer the new files to my phone if I can't get it to boot in the first place? I will need to transfer the files for the new ROM.
