[Q] help, Need some clarification on flashing ROM - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I am using an ATT HTC one X
unlocked rooted and supercid using All-in-one-toolkit

I have tried downloading ROMs through the goomanager and then flashing them via TWRP, but something always seems to go wrong. The phone gets stuck in a bootloop or just doesnt restart, the only way to get it working is run the stock RUU.
my questions are::
Will it be easier to flash ROMs with S-OFF?
Can I get rid of the ***TAMPERED*** tag?
I would really appreciate any help anyone can give, ive been at this for about a month learning very slowly...

Firstly, the tampered flag is completely normal for a modified phone. Secondly, are you flashing the boot.img via fastboot after flashing the ROM? You need to because you're s-on. This information is contained in the FAQ thread which is stickied at the top of the section you're posting in.

Help installing Endymion - *** Unlocked ***, HBOOT 2.00.002, S-ON

Hi,
I am looking at installing the Endymion ROM however I haven't had much luck following any of the beginner guides and was wondering if anyone can help me through the process.
My phone says this on the boot screen:
*** UNLOCKED ***
SAGA PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0002
RADIO-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
I believe I need to downgrade my HBOOT and then S-OFF before being able to install any ROM, however I cant find a guide that worked for my phone.
I was able to UNLOCK the device via HTCDev.
Please help.
Just flash the rom like any other then, extract boot.img from endymion and flash it using fastboot.
fastboot flash boot /pathtoyour/boot.img
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App
@Kearns
Then you didn't do enough reading.... No matter how you cut it, jumping in without a firm understanding is dangerous.
Sooo you can downgrade still (follow the downgrade threads again) or carry on with your HTCdev unlocked phone..... and flash a recovery (don't forget about the boot.img)

Seemed to have killed phone

I have spent a week driving myself insane with this phone and now it won't boot and I cannot seem to get is back to factory settings.
I tried to follow guides here for rooting but I could not get them to work.
In the end I used this guide (including the unlock bootloader via htcdev) and it got my phone rooted.
I then thought it would be a great idea to install the viper S rom... It was not. Now the phone will not go past the ht sensation logo on boot and I cannot get the firmware here (phone parses the file and then does nothing on the bootloader), the odexed stock image here or the any other image like this to install.
Please can someone tell me how to get this phone working again?
This whole thing has really stressed me out, I would be really grateful if someone could just give me some simple instructions. An image to flash via clockwork would be great. I have tried for days to do it my self but am starting to go crazy.

the problem is when you are flashing a rom when you are S-ON it has not the ability to flash the boot partition by itself
you have to flash the boot.img of the rom manually or
flash 4ext recovery ,enable smartflash from it and then flash the rom.see here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
edit:in order to upgrade your firmware you have to be S-OFF

This is in the wrong forum, should be in the Q&A forum. Anyway, you need to re-lock the bootloader and run any of the RUUs for the AT&T One X. You could also just flash a new ROM. If you are going to flash a new ROM you definitely need to change the recovery to TWRP, CWM is not supported on the Evita and is very buggy.

[Q] Bootloop after flashing kernel

I got my HTC Sensation a few days ago second-hand, and it was already S-OFF and came with DarkSense. Since then I've been playing with a few ROMs, and after I installed ViperS and a kernel in it's hub (the updated Bricked kernel) I'm stuck in a bootloop.
I tried to:
- Recover a nandroid backup
- Wipe everything except SD card
- Install other ROMs/kernels
But it's still stuck
I searched the forums, and I came across some posts about SuperCID, but from what I understand that shouldn't be relevant for the firmware I'm using (the universal 3.33).
I also saw a post about smartflash, but that too shouldn't be relevant because I have S-OFF, correct?
Any help/suggestions are highly appreciated

Follow the instructions I gave here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=37836634&postcount=3
After you get the phone booting again, install the TWRP recovery as it's the best recovery for S-OFF users. If you have any questions on flashing a boot.img file then feel free to ask

I can`t remember that you need s-off for TWRP and i dont think so!
Also here no comment @ https://twrp.me/devices/htconess4.html
What a Error you get?
Post exactly the error you get. For flashing TWRP you shouldn't be S-Off
Edit: I've checked the link for the ROM you've said you tried to follow flashing instructions....that is an S4 (ville) ROM and that TWRP is for S4 not for villeC2 as it appears in your bootloader info. DO NOT TRY TO FLASH ANYTHING from S4 section, you must flash a ROM and TWRP made for villeC2 (S3) cause they're not compatible.
Sent from nowhere over the air...
What a Error you get?[/QUOTE]
Writing Recovery.......
Failed Remote: Image error! <Boot magic check fail
That's the error i get.
