this is something I'm considering, just to get my battery drain under control. unless someone tells me it was there then and I imagined it was loads better.

Im using 4.3 and battery is good,
airplane mode uses a max of 1% overnight , have just put it on charge after 1 day 17 hours of mixed use on wifi and 3G and the screen time was just over 9 hours. appears to be getting better all the time.

I can assure you, kitkat doesn't affect your battery consumption. There must be something else wrong, that you are suffering from battery drain.

what you didnt post is the page with what was using your battery by %. now how are we supposed to tell you what happened and what used your battery? this thread is pointless because you gave us no usable information. what i got from the info that you did post is that a UFO flew by you and drained your battery of its power. and the thing is, my guess will be just as good as any other guess.

sorry but there was nothing out of the ordinary there so i didnt even think to screenshot it. by a large margin the screen used the most % battery. i thought it might have stuck on but that's not shown in the above shot

right, not in the posted shot. could have been an app that decided not to go away and drain your battery instead.

stock alarm app, no. but you do have a lot of wakelocks. when the screen is shown off, your device should be asleep. your device shows a lot of activity when your screens off(ironically, not when the supposed battery drain happened though, so i cant say thats why it drained).
Do you have the horrid camera bug?
Do you use exchange at all? I've had a lot of phones (android mostly htc and iphones) hit bugs from exchange in push mode and burn through their battery really quickly constantly trying to sync and hitting an error.
I charge mine on my dresser next to my head, and also use it as an alarm, I'd recommend charging it over night

I'm guessing this http://www.androidcentral.com/googl...cpu-usage-bug-fix-coming-next-android-release
I found it by googling "Nexus 5 horrid camera bug" lol, first link
Stock apps have no such issue as till date.Except for apps that use internet /wifi consume a lot of battery. So switch of those frst or keep ur cell on flight mode. The battery consumption may be due to gplay service, account sync, gmaps etc. I don't own a nexus device but I have experienced this kind of behaviour with my phone sometimes with a hot back cover sometimes.Try using apps like greenify to control this prob(or switch of ur network @ night/use lower cpu values + governers like powersave/conservative)

Well the screenshot tells us nothing. You'd have to give us all the battery screen shots. But from what I can see, 14 minutes on battery, a lot of screen use and some gaming... 3% isn't bad at all. You can't really judge anything on 15 minutes though.

While the N5 is one seriously amazing device, one thing it is not known for is having great battery life. You'll get used to it.

I already know that about the N5 battery, but i think it's particular problem with my phone.
You're still not showing all the screen shots. Your battery is fine. Look at the screen usage % of the other screen shot. Much less than yours
Here's the deal, if you use the screen, your battery goes down. Nothing new here.

Only 2 things affect screen battery use.
1) the amount of time you use the screen
2) the brightness of the screen.
So turn it down or turn it off.
Playing games will drop your battery fast. No way around it. ?

You can see they didn't play a game in their screen shot, where as you spent some time playing clash of clans. Gaming will always drain your battery quickly and this is not a unique behavior with the Nexus 5.
Also the higher frames per second your phone can achieve the quicker your battery will drain. This makes an interesting situation as once your phone gets hot and throttles down it will actually last longer as the frames get lower. If you were to limit the FPS or CPU clock speed you could actually game for longer.
Usage, Settings, and Signal determine battery life. This would be an example of how different usage will obtain different battery life.
so i perfer to have a battary case, this phone battary so tinty
Yeah i got that, thanks a lot guys!
Does it have a lot of bugs? How is the battery and etc?
For me, the battery life is crap, apart from that I'd say it's stable enough.

Had 5-6 on Marshmallow, on the Beta the battery is draining like crazy, usually have to charge twice a day with light usage. Factory reset didn't do nothing, same apps as before. Might do another factory reset or go back to Marshmallow after the holidays.

It depends on number of apps you install , number of apps running in background . Time u keep you data connection open . all above will drain it battery faster so use minimal except basic apps

Figured all that already...always close all apps when the screen is off, never connect to wifi or data while the screen is off, smart power plan, reduce resolution, disable bloatware i don't use etc..... for sure i can have my phone without charging for 3 days but what is the point is my screen on time is 4hrs or maybe less in Nougat is even worse imo.... Even after emptying the battery charge to 100% and recalibrating twice
Also something irrelevant i noticed after downgrading back using another region update.app is that the theme store have more themes now that before they weren't there

No power plans on Nougat. It's something like this, for performance you dont need to do anything.
The batttery saver is in Phone Manager, then you have the option to lower the resolution which i dont think it works because nothing changing when i turn it on and the Ultra saver.
I noticed more standby battery drain in EMUI5.0 (B320) than EMUI4.1. I believe Android OS uses more power than before (I don't remember how much it uses in 4.1, but it uses a lot in 5.0).

Changing the resolution won't change anything in view . but look here , in order to display a video with 1080p resolution you are using much CPU power where as when u watching the same video at 480p resolution , it requires much juice . only thing u miss is display quality which is negligible.
Wow battery drain is epic i turn everything off and went to sleep with 60% and i wake up with my phone dead..
battery life is very poor in the latest nougat update.. when the screen is on my battery percentage fell form 60% to 50% in just fifteen minutes... all i was doing was chatting and listening to some songs.... is it just me or the battery life is really this poor?
any way around?
factory reset your device. should sort it
Having the same problem. Latest XEF.
Factory restore did nothing to help.

Yes, but smart boost keeps apps in RAM as it should. If you turn it off then you may complain about apps being closed in the background. So it's a trade off based on what you want most.
I always throw the apps out.
Man i only turned this off in the morning and im already seeing an improvement, 3.5hr SOT at 60% battery.

Why would I disable something I know for a fact works really nice (good looks to 1+ devs who made the utility), based on something someone who says it improves their battery life (which I don't get because this phone has legit really good SoT+battery life)?
You probably have something else wrong
I'm getting reduced deep sleep percentage since the 9.0.5 update. My phone used to sleep 88-95% of my screen off time. Now it can be between 62-75% but my sot is still only 6.5-8% drain per hour of sot.
I dirty flashed and I'm sure it just needs a factory reset but I don't have it in me to set this phone up again when I'm upgrading to the OnePlus 7 pro in a week. Disabling the labs isn't doing much for the screen off time (deep sleep)
