moto g canada - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

looking to get a moto g from BC canada seems only available with koodo and telus
question is,is the canada version work internationally and where else can it be purchased looking for 16gb the ones available are 8
please post price location and if accessories are available

The variant sold in Canada is the 8GB XT1032, as you've seen, originally carrier-locked to Telus. (Obviously an eBay seller should have taken care of that last detail, but caveat emptor nonetheless.)
Unfortunately, those in Canada looking for the 16GB XT1032 or either size AWS XT1034 have to import from elsewhere. Edit: Wind Mobile now offers the 16 GB XT1034, so this could be an option depending on your location.

[Q] Best place to buy the N5 D821 variant from?

I just learned about the D820 vs D821 variants and as I'll use the phone outside NA, I might need the D821 model to use LTE - though the LTE coverage in the Middle East is garbage still.
What's the best place I can buy the D821 N5 from? The UK Play Store will cost me a whopping ~$550 for the 32GB version. If I use the Australian Play, I'll need an Aussie address (and package forwarding service - anyone know of anything like Borderlinx there) and an Aussie credit card!
Any ideas would be helpful

[Q] Will Nexus 5 bought in Google Play USA works in Netherlands (Europe) ??

Dear Nexus 5 Users,
I've been using HOX till this date and happy with it. My friends are coming from USA to Netherlands in another 4 weeks, so I've planned to upgrade my HOX to N5, when I've checked the price in Google play store USA, I saw it for just $400 for 32 gb model. It says the product is Unlocked, but when i was checking the sites for any compatibility issues when used in Europe (Netherlands), there has not been a clear answers given.
So, I'm sorry If my question sounded Dumb...kindly answer my question...
Will LTE work in Europe..??
I believe the google play store sells the unlocked model of nexus 5...also i believe it does support GSM Triband and I'm 95% confident that N5 bought in google play USA will work in Netherlands...but i believe N5 XDA users can confirm it...

i guess he will bring the D820 (North America model): GSM and 3G will work in Europe normally but not LTE(4G) because most of 4G operators in Europe use Band 3 (1800 MHZ) or 7 (2600 MHZ) or 20 (800 MHZ) and D820 does not support these bands as LTE (any way check on what band your operator provide the LTE) see here for band list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
if he can find the D821 version, then you will be able to use 4G in Europe for sure.
see here difference between D820 and D821 regarding 4G file:///C:/Users/Samer/Desktop/Differences%20between%20the%20two%20Nexus%205%20models,%20D820%20and%20D821.htm

Is the 32GB LTE version on Amazon same as the one shipped direct from Nvidia?

Amazon has a "no contract" AT&T version but it really doesn't say "unlocked".

Bought mine 2 days ago from Amazon and it's 100% not branded. But i live in Germany and there's no AT&T here.
Thanks for the reply.
Is there anyone else on here from USA that can tell me the difference?
I don't believe nVidia have two SKU for the 32GB version. While amazon doesn't give any detail about the the LTE model, nVidia page specifically says, "Unlocked (compatible with AT&T, please check bands supported)". So it sound to me like even if it's unlocked, but because of the cell band it support, only AT&T will work in the US or even if other cell carrier would work, it wouldn't support most of the bands, so it will be spotty.
I am concerned mainly if additional at&t software is on the amazon one.
Just got my LTE tablet from Amazon today, at&t software comes installed
The North American LTE 32gb shield has at&t software and sim included but is technically unlocked for compatible carriers. The main other option for service is T-Mobile.

Any advantage to LTE model on T-Mobile?

Simple question I think. I'm looking at getting a Moto G as a cheap phone for my Mother who is new to smartphones. I'm wondering is their any advantage for me to get the LTE version. It will be on the T-Mobile network.
From what I've read the LTE model supports the two primary bands (2 & 4) used by T-Mobile but not band 12 for the new network they are working on. I don't feel this is a big deal for her however. What is confusing me is the specs listed for the Moto G (2nd Gen) say it can reach speeds of 21/5Mbps and the same speeds on the LTE version. I'm starting to think the LTE version and the normal Moto G would end up on the same connection on the T-Mobile network but I'm not sure. I don't want to spend more for the LTE for no actual advantage.
Thanks.
@JayG30
You get the added Micro SD slot on the Moto G LTE unlike the standard Moto G. If your in the UK you can if you want to move over to EE which owns both T-Mobile and Orange (I myself am Ex-Orange Customer!) that way you'll get the 4G speeds. I did that on PAYGO Orange to EE and you can i think do the same on Contract not sure.

Moto G 2nd Gen 4G dual SIM available?

Looking at Moto G 2nd Gen (5" version). Here in UK is available as a 4G version, or as a dual SIM version but this is only 3G.
Is there a 4G dual SIM 2nd Gen available anywhere? If so why isn't it available in UK?
I want a dual SIM as I'll use it abroad, and would be perfect to use with a 3 UK SIM for the "feel at home" offer where you can use unlimited data abroad in certain countries.
If not I'll have to just get the 3G version, but wondering why Motorola either don't do a 4G dual SIM and/or why not available in UK.
Thanks
There's no 4G Dual Sim version anywhere.

Ah thought I'd seen on wiki that there was, maybe mistaken then...
Why? Is it a technical issue? Do you think one will come soon?
Thanks

True they can do what they want, but UK 4G is getting better now, so strange that don't offer it, too me people will be out of, and look elsewhere if the phone is limited to 3G in today's market

I mention four different models above. Three out of the four are Dual-SIM. It is only the European version that is Single-SIM.

They are all definitely 4G / LTE. Those are the model numbers for the Moto G (2015) 4G / LTE phone.
So out is possible, so why on earth do us in UK only have a 3G dual SIM version? Are the band's not compatible to UK or something?

I've said twice already; the only version being sold by retailers in UK / Europe is Single-SIM. Maybe that will change in the near future, or maybe you can get the Dual-SIM version through an importer on Amazon.
Here is a UK retailer selling XT1072 (Single-SIM 4G)

Sorry for confusion. Yes I know that the 4G single SIM is available in UK, Amazon UK etc, I specifically now want dual SIM though.
As it's a backup and holiday phone, having dual SIM is ideal. I wanted, for future proofing, a 4G dual SIM.
If can't get a 4G dual SIM, I'd rather get a 3G dual SIM, just if the 4G dual SIM was coming, officially to UKxbox I'd wait a bit.
Thanks
