Ok so i got froyo 2.2 cognition loaded onto my phone. I switched to kernel jtaek or something from when i rooted the phone. It was working ok at first but then android.phone kept force closing. I installed it using clockwork recovery mod. So i decided, let me try another one. So i tried to switch kernels so i could load sheps ROM. I downloaded JI6kernel2e and renamed it update .zip put it on the internal sd and used clockwork recovery to install from sd card. After that my phones gone silly. For a while it would only loop into recovery mode. In recovery mode i try to reinstall packages and it says it fails every time. So now I'm not sure what to do I'm afraid i really messed it up. I can get to download mode but can only get to the old school ODIN, not the one click. Or i can go to recovery I tried to delete the cache and user data and that did't do anything. Now it just loops from the at&t logo to the galaxy s logo then shuts off. Any help would be very appreciated!!!!
holy hell.....
dude, you shouldnt be flashing anything.
seriously, why would you rename the kernel to update.zip and try to flash it?
you need to go back to stock, i dont understand you saying you can get into reg odin but not one click??
yes Odin i guess v 1.0 or something. Where you have to put in the PDA file and PIT file? I finally got the one click root to download. Yeah i F$&*#@ up pretty bad. I'm not that familiar with Android yet. Coming from Windows and a tilt 2. Ok so I held both volume buttons plugged in the USB, then pressed the power till the second black screen of the phone exclamation computer symbol. Odin recognizes it and the phone shows the triangle with the android, says downloading and do not turn off target. (download mode right)
Odin shows

This is the second time its done this for about 10 mins
Am I totally screwed?
you CANNOT do a master clear from DOWNLOAD mode. a master clear is done from a fully booted phone with usb debugging turned on.....as stated in the thread where you got the odin oneclick......
Ooops! Ok any ideas of how to use the comp to just get this thing to stock? Anyway I can move stuff around on the internal SD without the phone booting up. Only way I can think of is to smash it with a hammer so I won't be bothered by the software problem . I love the phone was just trying to get 2.2 on it

Why don't you just go into download mode and 1 click to stock?
Or what can I do with download mode?

Ok sorry guys I had to dance the jig for a few. Yes I had one hell of a brain fart. I clicked the Start button instead of master clear and success. Thank you guys very much for the assistance. I think I'll read for a few more months before I start messing with it again. AT&T seems to be taking they're sweet time with Froyo so I just figured I'd get a jump start. But I'll definitely be more cautious next time. I didn't realize what the kernel and firmware and all that exactly were.
With all due respect you do not need to be doing this with your phone. If you clearly don't understand the steps to flashing a kernal vs flashing a rom then you don't need to be doing this. Kernal flash is done in odin and a rom flash is done in clockwork or recovery.
Second there is big letters on the COG page that say read the FAQ/WIKI you need to take the time and read completely through it before you attempt to do anything else
First the phone wouldnt read the sd card, and now when I rebooted into recovery (holding both volumes down then pressing power) I tried to restore it. Went to backup and restore, then restored it. now its stuck on the sidekick screen. All it does is once you turn it on, the black screen that says t mobile sidekick 4g samsung stays there. It wont boot up past it. Even holding down the volumes then pressing power it still gets stuck there. Anyone know what do do?? Ive killed the battery, ive let it sit there for a day and the screen never changed.

Pull the battery, or ODIN
RTFM
With Bali I haven't had a single FC, and its at least 25% faster. Battery life is noticeably longer as well.
Odin it back to stock. Follow the instructions in this thread very carefully. I noticed after first flashing Smooth Maximus bootup was kind of long, but it still booted. Good luck.
Kinda lost?? I have pulled the battery, its the only way to shut off the screen. And what's odin??

Edit: nvm its the name of the ROM lol. I'm about to try that now. Thanks, ill get back to you guys. If it works hopefully the SD card slot works again.
No, Odin is not a ROM. Odin is a leaked Samsung program that is used to flash Samsung phones. AFAIK Odin is the only way to fix a softbricked (like yours) phone.
If you follow the instructions in the thread I linked carefully you should be back to factory stock in no time.

Now I see that lol. The one thing im worried about is in the steps it says, 3. Boot in to download mode using Trackpad+Vol down then power. When I do this it still stays at the black screen that intros the phone to you. is this normol? If not does that matter and will it still work??
The trackpad+voldwn+power does not work for me. To get to download mode what I do is:
1. open Odin and load the files into the appropriate slots
2. remove the battery from the SK4G
3. connect the SK4G to your PC with the USB cable
4. hold Volume Down + Trackpad while putting the battery in
5. voila, download mode. It may take a few tries.
download mode should show a big yellow triangle with the android alien
Odin also will not recognize your device unless you are in download mode
6. click Start and your phone should be back to stock in a few minutes

Going to try now. Do I check off the file box next to PDA?
Click the PDA button
It should open a windows explorer window
Navigate to where you downloaded KD1SK4GOdin.tar(remove .md5 by renaming it)
It should automatically check off the box next to PDA for you
Near the top only Auto-reboot should be checked
Its running through ODIN as we....uh type lol. I made sure to hit the thanks
UPDATE: I got a big red FAIL
Okay, still fixable.
What does the message box in Odin say?
E: you can try again, but this time click the PIT button, navigate to sk4g.pit
have auto-reboot and repartition checked

HOLY SH!T IT WORKED!!!! Buuuuuut still no SD card fix :/ But at least the phone can now be used.
Cool. Are you sure the SD card problem is the phone's fault? It may be a corrupt card. Worst case, you can now have T-Mo replace it for you if the SD slot really doesn't work
Im sure its the phone. Ive used about 10 different kind and size cards and none will work. And when the phone is in recovery and i try to reformat the card or anything, it always says cant find SD c ard ext. And I have Sprint lol, I have an EVO, I got the sidekick for hahas (craigslist is awesome lol) so not to sure if I can bring it to t mobile
Hey all,
I've been flashing ROMs since the old Windows Mobile days and recently have run into a problem that has me stumped and I haven't been able to fix it. I beg you experts for help, I'm not sure what else to do.
My wife had some complaints that her Infuse was acting slow so I thought a new flash of something might help. I attempted to flash CatyRom but was stuck at the rainbow loading animation for over an hour. At this point I was getting nervous so I figured I would go back to stock. I used the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331381 for Heimdall One-Click Back to Stock. After doing that the phone just froze on the Samsun logo and after retrying it twice and restarting I was making no progress. I've tried some other back to stock threads and the latest was I loaded the ultimate unbrick from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367099 and now the phone is stuck in a red Clockwork Recovery v2.5.1.3 - Voodoo Lagfix. When I try rebooting it sits at the Samsung logo, when I try to flash the one thing on the phone(CatyRom) it says:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11(file exists)
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl11(file exists)
E:Can't mount /dev/block/stl9(file exists)
Error mounting SYSTEM:!
At this point I'm not sure what else to do/try. I can get into this version of Clockwork which I suppose is kind of good, but all that's on the phone is CatyRom and that won't install. If anyone can help I'd truly appreciate it.
Try flashing the community gingerbread kernel with Odin to reset your recovery and do a complete wipe and fix permissions...that happened to me once and that fixed it for me....after that you should be able to flash caty

For some unknown reason Odin isn't seeing the phone. Heimdall detects it in Download Mode fine, but it never shows up in Odin.
Also, when I tried one of the GTG back to stock Heimdall repackages everything goes fine and then at the end when it says Ending session.. it then says:
ERROR: Failed to send end session packet! Heimdall crashed!
The phone just sits in download mode, if I pull the battery and restart it's like nothing was done.
I'm not too experienced on hemidal but I believe there is a way to flash that same kernel I mentioned thru hemidal...but I don't use it so I would ask Dani897 he knows hemidal very well...hope that helps..

Hemidall & Odin use different drivers. After using Hemidall, you have to reinstall the samsung usb drivers again for Odin to see your phone.

What he said. Uninstall the driver in device manager. For me, it shows up under a main section called libusb.
Did you use the straight up repackage link or the one with the community v8 kernel in it? Since you have red CWM recovery, it would seem that you either used the community v8 which has voodoo lagfix enabled by default or you had a bad flash with the straight up repackage. I think I have a heimdall package that has all the gtg unbrick files in it. I'll post it up here if I find it.
EDIT: I threw a heimdall package together based on gtg's unbrick and just flashed it to my phone as a test. Yes, it worked just fine.

Yes, that was the one I was attempting to use, but I've tried one or two others since then. I've also tried redownloading afew of them. I was excited when I got Odin to see the phone, but it hasn't done anything yet.
So far with all of them it will freeze at a certain step, either "Get PIT for mapping..." or "ID:0/003> Firmware update start..<ID:0/003> factoryfs.rfs" and it will never continue. I know this things can take some time, but I've given them almost an hour each.
I'm also concerned that the battery may be running low, is there any way to charge it when I can only get into download mode? Any other suggestions are welcome.

Some people got it to work by switching to a different usb chord, or trying on a different computer.

Try this: Download mode using Odin. Uncheck the reboot box. Flash Enthroy's kernel dated 11/02.
If it flashes, boot into recovery, it should be Red. Scroll down and disable Voodoo lagfix or enable it if it's disabled.
Rebooting should put you in a loop after the kernel fixes the partitions. Good.
If you disabled lagfix, boot to download mode and use the latest stock GB leak or Ultimate Unbrick.
If you enabled it, boot to recovery, but this time disable it. Rebooting should put you in a loop after the kernel fixes the partitions. Good. Boot to download mode and use the latest stock GB leak or Ultimate Unbrick.
The loop should only occur if the rom is messed up.
Booting after flashing shouldn't take more the 5-10 minutes. At least from what I've seen on my phone.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot, but I'm not finding anything called Enthroy's kernal, I've tried searching for it but no luck, I may be missing it.
Go into the infuse super thread and look under kernels for the download. If nothung works, contact me because my phone (im sending it from) was rezurected with mobile videos jtag repair. Turns out my phone wont connect to computers even with a new usb slot installed. Anyway its forty bucks but its well worth it . If you still have warranty go ahead and use that up if you do not care about the info on your phone.
dude..try a different usb!!!!!! i kept getting the same errors.. it would get 1/4 way throught the process and get stuck... i used my sons usb cable from his HTC inspire and it worked perfectly!!!! USB CABLE !!! TRY IT!!!
i used gtgs very carefully ..step by step !!!
once i did it with a new usb, it downloaded in 3 minutes!!!!
good luck!!!!

Hey guys, unfortunately I've been out of town and just got back yesterday to continue work on the phone. I've actually had quite abit of success. I decided to try GTG one more time just to see, this time I used both a different USB cable and USB port and it worked! The flash completed without any problems and the phone booted up like stock in just afew minutes.
I am having one slight issue though. Everything was working fine after the reflash but my wife noticed today that her data stopped working. She's not able to connect to either her 4g/3g connection or WiFi. When she tries to go to any websites it says "Web page not available." in the browser. Her phone service is fine, but data both on and off WiFi give that message. I've tried turning on Airplane mode, restoring default APN settings, and restarting the phone afew times.
The only thing I haven't tried yet is a factory restore, I'd like to avoid it since she just set everything back up but I'll probably have to do one and hope the problem doesn't come back.
Thanks everyone for all the help!

Hi all,
I have a similar issue to kyleschepis.
I am not using a custom ROM. I have the stock ROM that came with the GT-N8013.
My issue started a week ago. My Galaxy Note had been having occasional issues with the external SD card. A warning would appear saying that the SD card had been removed, and a couple of seconds later it would re-mount and every thing was fine.
But last week, I picked up my note and turned the screen on (it was already started) and noticed the warning message while the screen was still locked. Then, as the second message was still being displayed letting me know that the SD card had been mounted, I swipe the screen to unlock. But instead of unlocking, my Note completely rebooted. It got as far as the logo screen (displaying "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1"), but would go no further.
I AM able to get into the Odin download mode but CANNOT get into recovery mode no matter what I do.
I have tried re-flashing the stock ROM ("KIES_HOME_N8013UEUCMI3_N8013XARCMI3_813049_REV00 _user_low_ship.tar.md5") several times, as well as trying to install customer recovery modes like CWM and TWRP, as well as the stock recovery. The installation in Odin seems to run fine - I get the "PASS" message at the end of the prodedure. But the power + volume up combination does NOT get me into recovery mode. Even if, as many have suggested, I continue holding the button combination until the logo screen displays a second or a third time.
I have been without my Note for a full week now, and I use it for everything. So, any help I can get would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob

I am having near the same experience as rob-x. I have had problems with some files on my SD card missing or arbitrarily renamed. I had the tab on charge and the next day it was looping through the boot screen,
I have tried flashing the firmware with Odin and also CWM, without results. I am unable to boot into recovery, only into download.
Also the only way to turn the machine off is to plug it in to charger then hold the on/off until the screen goes black.
My next plan is to flash the PIT and the firmware at the same time,

Hi tcm13,
Three weeks later and I am still none the wiser with my Note. It is still caught in the bootloop.
I can tell you that I have tried flashing the PIT and the stock firmware, but in my case it did not help. You are welcome to try. It didn't get any worse, but it did not get any better either. I have also tried flashing the stock German and UK ROMs for the GT-N8010 (mine is the US GT-N8013) with or without the PIT. These both fail fairly early on in the flashing process. But the behavior of the device does not change. Still the same bootloop, stuck at the same place.
Sorry for the bad news. Like I said, in my case flashing the PIT didn't help, but I have read on forums that people did have success with it. So it is definitely worth trying. It doesn't make things any worse, any way.
Let me know how it goes for you.
Ditto, same issue. I can flash a .tar file (I have tried CF-Auto and TRWP) in download mode using Odin but can't get the device into recovery mode.
It is just boot looping to the Samsung GALAXY Note 10.1 screen every 15-20 seconds. Can't even turn the damn thing off to save battery!!

Hi,
I have tried all and every PIT, ROM custom or not, and various recoveries without success.
I presume, as opposed to assume that it is a hardware fault.
Faulty SD card reading, random freezing, crashes and long charging cycles lead me to surmise some basic fault is the cause, also seeing that my device is not the only one to have been stricken.
I have now surrendered my system to the "tender mercies" of the appointed Samsung technicians as my device is still under warranty.
I dislike admitting defeat but I have gone as far as I can without picking up a screwdriver.
Let hear if you have found another alternative.
Hi,
Could you let us know how it went after the service? I had similar problems with my Note 10.1 (n8013) but it seems to have gone away by itself. Had to let the battery die a couple of times a couple of times though, but now I'm running IOKP without a hitch. . Would really like to know what the Samsung service people diagnosed...

BUMP : Same behavior here. I was able to upload an older stock ROM via odin but upon rebooting, the behavior persists and I still cannot boot into recovery mode. It would help tremendously if Samsung would pull their heads out of the asses and provide links to firmware but I cannot find an official source for any US version of the Note 10.1 (gt-n8013eavxar).
Side note to the origin of the problem. The tablet I am attempting to recover had never been rooted so I'm ruling out operator error as to how the device became so jammed up.

Hi all,
I have a similar issue to kyleschepis.
Thanks,
Rob

bro have you found the solution ?
Boot into recovery
I had a similar issue but then realised that the instructions I had been following were slightly inaccurate i.e. hold down power and volume up...... what worked for me was hold down power and volume up, when logo comes up, release power but hold on to the volume.
lets know if you already tried that.

Hi.
I'm having a similar issue wih my n8010
Im am unable to boot the tablet, its stuck on the samsung logo, and here it stays untill it runs out of battery.
I cannot enter recovery mode, it will not get past the samsung logo. (I have tried holding down the vollme up key and releasing the power key when the logo apears) Nothing works.
I am able to get into Download mode, and the tablet is also reconized by Odin, But when i try to flash a stock firmware downloaded from Sammobile, It right away sais Fail!
This is the output from Odin:

On the tablet i get: SW REV. Invalid magic string
I have tried to flash a new recovery using Heimdall and that i can do with no errors, but i canot enter recovery mode.
Am i tryind to flash the wrong firmware fra Sammobile?
Hope that someone can help me to solve this.
NOTE: Before this went wrong i had CM 10.2 Nightly on the tablet, but could not play any videos, so i want to go back to stock. So i connected the tablet to odin and tried to flash the firmware from Sammobile, but it failed, and now, this is where im at.
EDIT: I got the problem solved.. I tried various stock roms from Sammobile, different countries and regions, ended up with a stockrom pointing at Netherlands even tho i live in Denmark, but that one flashed with no errors, and i was able to get past the "Samsung Galaxy 10.1 ) logo, but got stuck at the "Samsung" logo. But i was now able to enter revovery mode (Power + Vol Up) and do a full wipe and the reboot. Now everything works.
A littel bonus question i would like someone to help me understand. When i want to download a Stock Rom from Sammobile, what should i choose? I live in Denmark, but there is no option for that when i am to selct a download from Sammobile.
Another question, can i Select a 4.1.2 firmware and flash that on my Tablet, now that i have the 4.4.2 installed? I hate the new KitKat placement of buttons on the tablet.. Back button in the middle where you cant reach it with your thumb and the drop down menus are a pain.. i hate it.
Will i for example be able to flash this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2119547
Or are there some problems with me having 4.4.2 now, and want to go back to 4.1.2?
Please advise.
Thank you in advance.
I am glad it helped several members but unfortunately not me and probably also others with the same issue as ROBX described.
I think it has something to do with hardware, original cable etc. tomorrow I have it flashed at the Samsung shop and see if it works there.

Any one tray this and solve the problem?
Sent from my SM-T805 using XDA Premium HD app
Can some kind soul please take the time in troubleshooting my problem? Any help is much appreciated.
Last year I had installed TWRP 2.7.1.0 and then using that I flashed lineage-14.1-20170810-unoffical-n8013.zip file.
For a while my tablet worked perfectly until one day, and I don't know exactly what happened, the tablet rebooted and got stuck in the Galaxy note 10.1 boot screen. From this point on, the only thing that happens is this -
A) if I press power and vol up button to get into TWRP, the screen goes to TWRP but stays stuck there for a few minutes and no keypress works at all. After a few minutes it reboots and stays stuck in the galaxy note boot screen.
B) If I press the power and vol down keys, I get to the recovery screen and pressing vol up after that takes me to ODIN download screen. I can use any version of ODIN and the device gets detected. However, I have downloaded and tried many stock ROMs and a few PIT files I found from the internet. ODIN on my windows PC consistently gives a message saying it fails to create partition. If I don't provide a PIT file, it says PIT partition not found.
I really want to recover this device as it seems like it should be possible, but I think I need a much more guided help here.
If you have flashed PIT files you have probably damaged it or Nand has failed .
Question asked multiple times here.

I never flashed PIT file before this happened. And, since this happened I am getting fail when I try to flash PIT, or any ROM.
Where does Odin fail ??

Is there somewhere I can find it? Most places I tried didn't mention the flash size.
No idea except their was a 16 gb pit file posted on here within the last few months .
