[q] can you please recommend razr hd xt925 best custom rom?? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm tired of stock rom. Looking for most stable custom rom for RAZR HD XT925. Should I use CM or what? TWRP or CWM? Also some instructions how to do it... I'm really confused so any help would be highly appreciated...

first tell us if you are rooted, unlocked bootloader, if not thats what youll need to do first.
once that is done, then go on and flash a custom rom.
only stable ones are jelly bean 4.1.2 roms, 4.4 are good too but not wholly optimized.

Hard to say what the "best" is. For instance once my phone shows up I will look for the most stable, best battery life, and AOSP style build. Some people don't care if some things work or if something isn't extremely smooth so their favorite may differ from yours. What do you like in ROMs? Have you tried any ROMs for any other phones that you really liked?

Sorry! MY phone is rooted and the bootloader is locked because I'm not sure which ROM to use. I will unlock if you help me to decide what custom rom to use.
I have tried CM on RAZR XT910 but it was ustable and anoying.
I would like to backup current stock rom state and to try other roms on this XT925 phone. I have seen some videos showing TWRP be the best to cycle between roms and also backup current stock rom?
Maybe I'm not clear enough because I have so many questions but I want to learn how to do flashing custom roms in safest and right way hence my thread...
I want to know first where to start...
Thank you all in advance...

Just my personal preference but slimkat is highly recommendable. Running release candidate 2 presentently. It is perfectly usable af daily driver and vastly superior to stock rom in my opinion.

six37,
im running cm11, and its stable, just had one reboot, just one app doesnt work right but its no biggie, i can use the website instead.

What app was it that didn't work. Also can you comment on battery life on CM?

hm it was EzPdfReader, it did not read my external sd card when loading available pdfs, but i can access them through a filesystem app like es, and then open the pdfs there,
as for battery life, i installed greenify.
last saturday, i forgot to charge my phone overnight (i charged it a bit before i went out to party). it lasted to 12%.

OK! I have unlocked bootloader and installed TWRP 2.6.3.0 and everything is fine. I have backed up my stock rom and now trying slimrom 4.4.2...

I m on gummy ROM. Stable and good battery life.
Previously i was on validatus but no theme support
This 2 ROM are very stable ans good battery life.

i get even more battery life if i have wifi off, 5hrs unplugged only connected once to update apps and still at 91%, more reason to get a tablet for web browsing...

Also would like to point out (I just found out this) is that you can not use a third party app to stop texts from showing from certain numbers. I believe this is on all of 4.4 though

[Q] Question about Custom ROM's on O3D.

Hello XDA!
I've got a question.
Currently running a rooted LG O3D with stock ROM.
I've read quite a bit about Custom ROMS, I hear friends talking about it, I know what it does, BUT...
What ROM should I take?
I'd love to year your LGO3D stories...
Note: I do not mind losing 3D options (as long as I can get back to it by backing up).
Alot of thanks in advance!
Lrpvo
Edit: I would like specific stories of O3D users, as I've read enough others... Just need to be sure it'll run on my device.
i think ThiaiZ roms are the best!
they are so smooth & fast (Specially in preparing sd card)
Also they are compatible with each game.. (unlike Accura roms)
Thanks Dark Fear!
To all, update:
Yesterday got everything ready to flash CM7 Nightly on O3D, didn't get to do it, so did it this morning. Ran fine until 4 pm, when I was backing up files using ROM Manager, Lights Out. Now getting zero response from my phone.
Trying to flash back stock.
Keeping you posted.
thiaiz is fantastic,
CM7 is fantastic as well (although much different approach).
for those with gsm-problems (like me), CM7 with froyo baseband is the best solution (no 3D)
I had GSM problems today too =.= only thing I disliked 'bout it...
Though, anyone any ideas on getting my phone alive? It's not responding at all atm...

This'd be my guess. I've got a dead phone, not reacting on anything. Did get it to be recognised as a Omap4430 device (using Power+vol up) but that was at school on a PC I can't use to install software from LG I need to use... My win7 won't pop this up so I'm screwed.
Any1 else ideas?
i was scared at first too, a whole new world because i came from a sony erricson satio (symbian s60v5) and now android, wth?!
just did a lot of reading about rooting and flashing roms and now it all goes as smooth as i used to go!
had almost every rom installed (only cm7 not, bought a 3d speed, why wipe the 3d section off?). i know now that oc1,2 drains battery so i always take 1188mhz. i currently running rushdroid v3.6 and that works pretty smooth and fast but thiaZ en acurateam are also very good roms!
i'm just waiting for an ics rom
Good thinking..

If you want back to stock from CM7 restore backup in CWM wont work. You must install from cwm any stock rom (Thaiz, King3drom, etc..) and then restore backup.
If you cant enter to CWM you must install rom from kdz

If you want to you computer to recognize phone as omap4430 try to remove battery before power+vol UP

Just keep in mind that this is a leaked ICS update, and NOT an official release, or a custom ROM.
And it will not work if you have an ME865 or a US version of the phone.

YES, the Atrix 2 is SCHEDULED to receive an ICS Update. Starting the "third quarter" they will Roll out. Or so Motorola says.
However, at this time we only have a couple of ICS leaks. You may be able to run them (Seeing as how you're in Mumbai) however we would need to know your phoone specs.
Keep in mind also, like Jim said, that these are LEAKS not official, and since none of devs have been able to properly test them we are unsure if they are even stable.
Hope that answers your questions.

It works fine on ME865 and MB865 except at&t units. More stable and better like custom 2.3.6 roms on Atrix2.
We have two kind of LEAK roms at China: CN and HKTW versions. They both work on ME865 China Mainland and Hong Kong/Taiwan devices.
Look for the thread in this forum, I've uploaded several screenshots. It shares nearly the same theme with RAZR; as the Q3 is coming, I believe the final rom will be the same design.

On MEARET battery stat works fine too:
Thanks guys..it seems we have only custom roms of GB for atrix2.. I will try some of these but the custom recovery is not working perfectly..sometimes it works and sometimes it does not work..every time i have to click on bootstrap recovery to go to the custom recovery..and touch recovery does not show..also after installing the custom recovery, when i click on recovery through any boot app (quick app) it takes me to the official recovery and dont know how to directly go to the custom recovery and i took nandroid backup thru clockworkmod and changed some ooh the system things like battery icon and when i try to restore my backup, it does not install...it says md5 check fails or something..dont know y i m facing this problem...but thanks guys for info..

Be patient man, 2.3.6 Indian is already very good for daily use.
And ICS is coming very near.
Waiting means happiness =)

So are there any JB roms worth it??

I know EOS has a JB rom, but is it based off the stock rom? Or is it still based off the leaked version from many weeks ago?
I had my Xoom stolen It was rooted and had the EOS rom on it.
it was OC'd to 1.4 and damn it, it ran like a dream!!!
I was given this Xoom from my dad who doesn't use it, so it was stock and it downloaded JB
How do I root this thing? and should I switch to a JB rom?
Thanks

There's some threads floating around here that give instructions on how to Root coming from stock JB, do some searching and you'll find them.
TeamEOS actually bases all of their ROMS on the Android Open Source Project codes (published by Google), although they do borrow some code from the Stock ROMs as needed.
I've been using the JB EOS nightlies for over a week now. Loving them. I was reluctant to switch from the ICS nightlies, but had to when a few apps broke after updates (Youtube, Music, etc). Plus, the Play Movies and TV app works on rooted devices on JB. Plus, EOS is working feverishly to get all the great extras from ICS onto their JB ROMS.
Im bored so im write this,

Team Eos JellyBean rom for the MZ601 With 3G, it is still a nightly but i use it as my main rom
Pros:
Simple.
The updates are great and come out almost once a week even more.
No notice on battery life.
Smooth as hell
Google currents on xoom is amazing!(Not a jellybean only feat but it just works so well..)
3G works Via a nightly and works pretty well.
Cons:
Flash isnt out on the playstore but it is out on XDA.
Some apps dont support it (i have only came across one.)
If you have a small mem card putting the gapps and updates could be troublesome..but im running 2gb Sd Card
Sometimes it seems like my wifi signal is being werid but it always comes back on after 30 seconds..
[YOUTUBEhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjM990Jfims][/YOUTUBE]
Basiclly, if i was you flash it, test it and see if you like it. i did that with my sensation and used Cyanogenmod, but i didnt like the non sense aspect (just personal choice.)
I am no way affiliated with Team eos i just respect there work and love how they do it.
If you are planning to get eos jellybean, you don't have to root, just unlock the bootloader and eos ROM is rooted already...
Here is what you need to do step by step...

The fact that you are running a 2GB sd card makes me sad :crying:
Another vote for EOS 3 Jellybean nightly.
Have been using it for a few weeks and it is great.
I like the stock OTA Wi-Fi JB update...sooo snappy...

Prepping for 4.4.3 OTA Question

The M8 is the first HTC phone I've had. I was a Motorola fan until they locked down their phones tight. I've S-Offed, rooted and bootloader unlocked and TWRP installed on my M8. I'm running a few mods through Xposed and have bloatware frozen with Titanium. I'm just curious if I need to S-on or relock the bootloader and flash the stock recovery to take the OTA? I've heard to wait for devs to get ahold of the update and check it out first but even then what preparations do I need to make? Would really appreciate the help guys. Thanks in advance.
In order to take the OTA you will pretty much have to go back to stock. I would wait until it drops and flash a custom version so you can keep all your tweaks.
If you WANT to accept the ota, I believe you will need stock ROM, stock kernel, and you will need stock recovery. Not sure about locked boot loader, but s off should be fine.
If you DONT want to accept the ota, flash a ROM like cleanrom with a custom recovery and hang tight until someone packages the firmware. For this you will need to use one of the two s off methods, firewater or sunshine s off
By that do you mean one that devs make flashable through custom recovery? Sorry I feel like a newb with this phone. Wish all manufacturers could just do things the same way. I definitely don't want to lose root or unlocked bootloader
Guess I'll just hang tight and see what other people are cooking up once the OTA drops

Great. Thanks for the help. Definitely like HTC better than Motorola already.
Yeah, I'm sure Scott will make a flashable zip of the stock rom. He's going to stock now to be able to pull files and such. Just wait it out till a flashable zip hits.
Will it be just like flashing on a Motorola? Flash from custom recovery and all my data settings stay just like if I took the OTA?

[Q] Device is slow. What ROM to install?

Hi!
I bought this device few time after the release. At the time there was an official update from ASUS and I updated it. I remember that it said that there was no way to go back to the original firmware. The thing is. I unlocked my device at that time and now, after trying many different custom ROMS, there is not one that works ok. My device is slow, always hanging, it's not usable at all. My question for the experts are:
- Do I have the correct firmware, kernel, whatever installed?
- What ROM can I install that does not have these problems?

Many of the KitKat ROMs are a lot faster. I used CROMBi for a while, at it was mostly stable. You will have to unlock your bootloader and flash a TWRP 2.8
Thanks cmendonc2. The problem is that I updated the tablet itself (not the ROM) as soon as I bought it and it has been slow since that time. I don't know if I can revert to the state that was from factory. I already tried many ROM's and the slowness is always there.
Katkiss 4.4.4 plus added in Seeder.apk..
The thing screams...
I am running it next to the Nexus 10 and both are running about the same..
Only thing is the TF300T is a bit slower on the Multitasking when downloading from Play Store and or TB backup installs..
otherwise if I was to be buying one for someone, at the price they are now, plus the expandable storage options...
I would still think this was not a bad buy..
As the Nexus 10 has great specs and zooms but its developed a yellow tinge on the screen that seems to happen to a few of them after 1-2 years..
and its not like the screen is on for extended periods.. or left on.. just a production fault.. we are having a go at Google now about it.. as cant even get replacement LCD's for it..

I installed CROMBi but the problem remains. My TF300T has some other problem that began with the first official asus upgrade I made. No one knows what I'm talking about? The tablet is slow to do everything, except when inside apps.
Try to wipe internal memory from recovery and flash katkiss 5.0.1 rom. It works better than kitkat roms
