i remapped my search button with the button remapper app. it has ALL the power button options except wake the screen. to wake the screen, ics has an option. go to the main phone settings, security, lockscreen, press none. now you can wake the phone with volume button. cm9 also has a wake device with the volume rocker option.

[Q] Hardware touch keys with screen off

The power button of my i9023 completely died so I remapped the search button as power button by modifying the key layout file in /system/usr/keylayouts/ but it seems that hardware touch keys are inactive when the screen is off.
Is there a way to enable them? I already tried adding the WAKE flag but it doesn't work.

These keys are not kept on when the screen is off. You'd be better using something such a volume wake (wake phone by pressing vol + or -) instead. Lots of roms have it in their options.

I already have the volume wake but it doesn't work when listening to music so I installed Tap Tap to unlock also with the proximity sensor; this thread was more for curiosity and aesthetic reasons than for real need.
So, from what I understand, that behaviour is hardware related thus impossible to be changed by software.
Hm, I have one question, is something like this:[KERNEL]Slide 2 Wake possible on our device?

I believe it would need to be implemented in the kernel. I don't think anybody took the time to check deep enough to do that for our Nexus.
Kinda wish we had it too.

[Q] Is there any way to use volume button to wake phone on any rom?

Really pissed off by the power button of pico. Is there any way to add volume wake option to settings menu of roms?

Switch between Silent/Vibrate with volume button?

Hi,
In my previous phones I could just hold the volume - button and the volume would reduced till the phone was on Vibrate mode. Then if I pressed the Volume - one more time, it would've gone to Silent mode. But I can't do the same with my Huawei Mate 8. Is there any way to have shortcut for switching between vibrate/silent ?
Thanks,

Hmmm, I always simply use the quicksettings to put the phone on sound/silent/vibrate, and for easy access put do not disturb under that as well. Click, click, done :good:
In the second screenshot you can also see the silent switch after pressing down till volume zero using the side buttons. But the first method is the quickest of the two

Is that a feature or a bug??

Click volume up + power button at same time and it'll increase the volume to the max. similarly with volume down+ power button. Is that actually a feature cause I don't find it useful at all!

It's not happening in my device. Definitely a bug or maybe some rogue app is messing up with the buttons.

Tried exactly that. Nothing happens when Volume + and power button are clicked together. And the volume decreases by a step when Volume - and power button are clicked.
