Hi all, here is the issue. I recently adquired a Tablet Coby Kyros Mid 7020 7". I´ve been looking around and found out that lots of people bricked their tablet after trying updating it and aparently Mid 7020 got 2 different Hardware but there is no support from oficial site of Coby.
I would like to know if it´s possible to install a custom rom on this tablet, and if so, which rom is better? And also, if it is possible to unbrick it?
Regard 4thrun
PS: Mid 7020 has a graphic bug, most of the games (angry birds and etc.) won´t display right, does anybody got a clue how to fix it?

Indeed, I also rooted it with z4root and installed android market. Though, it´s really kind of slow, and shouldn´t be. My mini pro has less cpu and it´s way faster than my kyros =/
And really, I don´t recommend custom rom unless u r sure it´s working with 7020, cuz lot´s of my friends tried and now all they got is a bricked kyros.
Clockworkmod
Can you install clockwork mod on this model
I subscribe this topic, I've buyed a "rebrand" of Coby Kyros MID7020: Mpman MP720.
I'm looking for a way to save the original firmware/ROM without root permissions, to reflashing if I have problems.

Hey guys, new to this, just got a MP720, not much firmware about for this one, not must of anything really,
I did however find this site with links to the to original firmware from MPMAN,
using google translate haha, it seems theres two flavours of chipset for this taplet,
Hynix NAND firmware:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29403117/MP720 An 2.3_Hynix.rar
Micron NAND firmware:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29403117/MP720 An 2.3_Micron.rar
Flash Tool:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/29403117/upgrade tool and Introduction.rar
that said i have not tested these FW's and cant vouch for the safety of using them,
I'm not a developer but hopefully they could be usefull for making a cyanogenmod for it (fingers crossed haha) or some one who has bricked there tap,

I have downloaded these files so if the link becomes dead please let me know and i will send them
Go to Google and search for Kyros Tablet Zone KTZ
That's a website with custom ROMs for every Kyros tablet. I've seen ROMs for 7022 but not for 7020, and I'm not sure which is the difference.

Cyanogen mod is another version of the android operating system. Basicly they take the normal Android OS, and some fun skins and tweaks to improve pr change system performance, and release it out for most Android devices. Because hardware can be very different for each device, not everything is going to be universile. Cyanogen is a great way to get rid of anoing bloat ware put in by manufactures and providers. I started using CM7 for my Samsung Captivate because I was tired of AT&T apps deciding they needed to start running on their own.
Clockwork mod is a bootloader (and a few otherthings) that can help you backup your device, restore it, and flash on new mods and roms. There are other types out there as well; I use an old clockwork mod on my Captivate, but I use Burrito for my Kindle Fire.
Odin is supposed to help you return to stock settings, like you just walked out of the store with it, before doing all those evil things like trying to get rid of apps you don't want and will never use.
As for how to get those on your device, I don't know, I haven't used one before. But good luck.
Also, please don't open new threads when you are working on the same problem / upgrade

Hopefully this is newer or maybe unlocked down, dunno till I try, or maybe we could make a rom dump and start to cooking away!

I used that forum to root my pandigital 7" tablet, then sold it rooted cause 7" was just too big for my liking. LoL
Hi there guys, I've search in all the forums and I couldn´t find any information to root this specific tablet, I know this is easy for you, but I´m having a Hard time trying to do it. These are the specs.
Tablet Coby MID8065-8
1 Gb RAM, 1.2 Dual Core, 8 GB internal
Android 4.0.4
Kernel version 3.0.8
If you could help me to root it, I really really appreciate it!!!
Hi all,
I've never installed android on a mobile device & I'm not sure if I can use any flavor of Android available
or if it's advisable.
Google's dev site, has Nexus 7 4.1.1 kernels available for download. I don't know if I should install it for
my generic tablet. I'm a bit hesitant in installing, even though it's what's installed, because this device
is my baseline for testing a game that I'm developing for low-end hardware.
My problem is that the company pushed updates that BRICKED my tablet.
If anyone has thoughts or can help me I would really appreciate it.
The company's support is atrocious! This will be the 2nd time I'd have to send a device back to them for
an RMA...once is enough.
Specs if it helps: 1GHz dual core Cortex-A9, Mali-400 MP GPU, 1Gb RAM
Thanks in advance...
Have you fixed it, I have the same problem, I need the original rom to flash. At Machspeed they simply won't do it. If you happen to have yours working I heard that there is a way to extract and zip the rom for future flash in case you need it.
