[Q] Play Store my apps behaviour - Asus Transformer TF700

This is a question and a minor annoyance,
whenever I access the "my apps" section it shows one column for the apps and update status and on the right it shows the open/uninstall option
and the permissions it has.
The problem is that it doesnt state whats new, description, rating etc. unlike a cellphone play market which redirects to the app view on market (like if I did a search for it).
It really bugs me that I cannot see whats new (I could live without the previews rating and comments, but they would be nice to see them too), it only shows the permissions it requires (and its not even like I can modify those so it is only half informative).
So far the only solution to this annoyance is going to my apps, watching which apps need an update and then from there do a search for the app to see what's new.
Is there a solution to this? either make it load fully on the right side or redirect me to the "market search" for the app like in cellphones?
Thank you in advance to all

I attach a screen of it so you know what I mean.

Yes this is how google have designed it. You click on the large icon at the top and it tells you what is new....

Try the app "Changelog Droid", you may like it.

The big icon? I would have never thought of clicking the little then the big one. Thank you! you have solved one of my biggest annoyances with play market on this wonderful tablet!

Android app like "side by side"?

I have a need for this app; it's called "side by side" and it's only on iPad.
Here is the verbage from the youtube video:
Side by Side is a multiple-screen reader/browser with offline reading and note taking capabilities. It turns one iPad into 1 to 4 devices working in parallel.
You can browse webpages, download files, read documents, or take notes on each split screen.
It allows you to have multiple apps running side by side on the screen....
Any android app that will do this?
agreed
I would love to have an app like this for android.
I'm really hoping someone has or is in the middle of creating this type of app for honeycomb.

Yes...that would be the point. Switching apps is not the same thing.
Specifically, I'd like to be looking at one app while taking notes on the other side of the screen....

I think we'd all love to know what technology/trickery you are using to make one eye focus on your notes while the other eye focusses on another app. Totally unrelated ofc, but you made me think of THIS video.
Nothing like this exists that I'm aware of... so far. Unless you are using some remote desktop software and accessing a pc/mac. Most ipad apps seem to get ported over so I'm sure we'll see it in the future.

Unfortunately, these guys are only selling their software to OEM's, so the chance of buying it from the market are zero... you'll have to buy a new device with the software built-in. I hope someone will be able to hack and extract the software to run on our tablets - this solution is WAY better than side-by-side as it allows for real apps to be run in each window (not just a simple browser or notepad).

Just FYI the "Side-by-side" app doesn't actually allow you to run multiple apps side-by-side, it only allows you do a limited number of specific tasks (web browsing/note taking) that are baked into the app.
To override an application's screen context would require extensive changes to the Android framework (and similar changes to iOS but no-one but Apple has access to the source for iOS) and would only happen as a full custom build of the OS (Like the "EDEN" system of the Notion Ink Adam)

Facebook app for tablets

Just saw this great new app over on the xoom forums. It's made by the same guy that did Tweetcomb (the first twitter app for tablets which also rocks). Seems really great so far, and is free on the market so check it out, it's called Friend Me.
Original post with more info here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125505
Thanks, i'll try that it looks good.
Yeah I just got it, runs pretty smooth so far and pretty nice feature set, chat implementation would be nice but hopefully it will come in an update

I just installed it on my TF101, got a FC about 45 seconds into it. I think I had tapped on photo albums. Nice looking app, though.
Finally!!!
Great app, finally a good facebook app!!! Thanks
I still think that it needs the ability to upload pictures and videos. Check- In, Notification Bar and all that, but apart from that, I think it's a great deal!

It's a 1.0 release, I'm sure all of that is coming to the works. But yeah, totally agreed. Off to a great start, I'm looking forward to the updates.
Needs to be able to view groups also but very good

Nope, early WIP.
Does it support multiple logins? Seems not to. This is the biggest problem with Facebook and most other non-Google apps on the market - they all assume you are on a single-user device, a phone. A tablet is very often NOT a single user device. Me and my wife share it. There has to be some easy way to toggle between facebook accounts.
All the Google-written stuff has the ability to toggle between different accounts easily... even the market itself lets you do that.
Some problem with the app, completely froze my tab on first launch. Had to reset the device. Methinks its a problem with pictures. Anyone else faced this?

No what he is saying is a tablet is a multi person device meaning more than one person uses it so there for you need to be able to toggle accounts,I have the same issue with tablets as my kids use it but I don't want them on Facebook and I want to be able to control content they view by having different user settings for different log ons Luke you can on Windows

On another note, is does the transformer itself support multiple logins? I'm running into the same problem, when my other half is using the tablet and gets my email notification popups because it's linked to my google account.

[Q] App not compatible with device screen size/resolution

I am trying to run an App (Nest thermostat app) that will install, however when I run the app a message pops up saying this app is not compatible with your device screen size/resolution and then closes. Is there a way to bypass this somehow?

Reading the reviews on the Play Store, it seems that many people are asking for tablet support for the app. If the app really doesn't work on tablets, there is always the Nest website.
Hope that helps
Cheers
EDIT: If you read the description for the app on the Play Store, the developer has written "Nest Mobile doesn't currently work with Android tablets." It is at the bottom of the description.
Thanks for the help, I saw that in the description as well. I guess I was asking if there was anyway to change the code possibly in the APK to not check screen size. It seems a little hokie that it would even reference a screen size at all. Most APPs just blow up the image if the screen is a different size. Sorry if my question was unclear. Thanks.
I have to been looking into this. Attached is the APK if anyone smarter than me can remove this check for screen size. I hate being limited to just my phone.
Thanks again,
James

Additional home screens being created

I have this issue where every time I install a new app, an extra homescreen is added to my phone. I can remove this by creating an app shortcut on the blank screen and removing it, or by restarting my phone.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? And have you found a way of stopping this from happening.
Am I right in assuming that you have made sure that a new app icon is not being created every time a new app is installed from the store? That setting can be found in the Play Store. Sorry if this is too obvious, sometimes it is the little things.
Yes, I've had this too. It's not specific to the N5, I also get it on my other devices running GEL.
They disappear by themselves as well. No biggie.

OCD: Anyway to clean up old apps that still show insalled on Google Play webite?

I guess from years of rooting and changing roms and such the Google Play website shows hundreds of apps installed on my device that of course aren't.
By using Google Play on my phone and going to ALL I was able to painfully manually delete many of them but after a certain point it stops loading very old apps and no longer gives me an option to remove them from the list resulting in the website showing wrong results.
I Googled a solution but found nothing anyone here have any ideas?

My apps is what the OP is referring to. The only way to delete them that I have found is one by one. One of the true PIA's of the Play Store.

I've often wondered this as well. It'd be nice if the store would only display 90 days of download recency. It'd be even better if you could sub-cat the downloads by device (if you've had multiple).

I agree.
There should be an option within the Store to sync the device you're on @ that time and show what's been installed/uninstalled from Play Store for that specific device.

I don't know who that's directed to but I have ocd and don't see anyone making light of it.
Anyway I don't even mind removing apps one by one but it seems after you go back several years time (on your phone mind you under ALL) it stops loading very old apps and there is just no way to remove them at that point.

OK I apologise then. I thought YOU were making light of OCD. You know, the whole "If I don't do xxx then I will die" kind of OCD (of which I am sure you know, there is no other). I'm sorry to hear you have that. My suggestion would be not to visit the play website. It's definitely preferable to feeling you will die because it is untidy.
Although the way you phrased this thread, it reads more like "I like things tidy" than actually having OCD, so again I apologise
No problem. It's not like this is keeping me up at night but it is something that has been on my min d to fix for sometime.
