Wired earphones recommendation - Xperia Z Accessories

As the title suggests, I need a recommendation on which earphones to buy. I have difficulty finding something myself as I don't have much experience when it comes to this. I'm going for something with good bass and good sound quality in general, which would cost me max. €60.
Thanks in advance!

I use Sennheiser CX 300 II and I bought in Italy for 35€.
I use Sennheiser CX 150 too and they are less expensive.
Both provide very good basses and very good quality. Remember that every earphone need 10-12 hours of work to get their best quality.
I talk as audiophile, I love music and I love listening music is a very good way

Try SoundMagic E10 or E10M. I had few Sennheiser's in my life, few better earphones and that, what SoundMagic offers is a real MAGIC. Best earphones I've ever had.

Sony MDR XB30 EX

Sony isnt kidding when it says "extra bass" they are durable, have a serrated cord so doesnt tangle.
and the audio output is epic,
plus if u put pure sonico sound mod + viper audio fx on your xperia Z. u can actually tap into the full potential of these babies.
:good:

@cervandes
I decided to go for the e10, and they arrived today. Been checking if if they are original. Everything seems to be okay physically speaking, except for the M310 printed on the other side of the plastic where the ends of right and left earphone meet. That left me a bit puzzled and concerned as I can't find any pic with that printed on it. Also, if these are legit, they now come with hard case instead of a pouch.
Sent from my eXposed C6603

You need to use them for few hours to make them work like they should. You will notice a very big difference between sound quality just after unpacked and after 10 or 20 hours od playing.
About the printing... Try write to them on facebook? But I think, there's no Soundmagic's fake's... In my country there is a lot of crap from china and You have to be vary carefull when buying staff like headphones. I havn't seen fake E10 or any oder model from Soundmagic.

Best headphones i ever bought are actually Sony!
I recommend Sony M1HC. They are in-ear and the sound is really nice. Plus the price is surprisingly low.

Hi there,
I recently bought a pair from Amazon which were supplied from a third party. They arrived and looked genuine but the sound quality was awful. The vocals were tinny and the bass was non existent
Suspicious, I bought another pair (this time direct from Amazon) and the sound quality was immense, light years ahead and considerably better than the fakes.
The packaging, look, feel, case and everything was the same except for the fake ones had M310 printed on them and the genuine ones had M304.
I recommend you send them back and buy a real pair, you'll notice the difference immediately.
Mark

@MarkMagic
Hello, one thing confuses me though. The package had a serial number on it by which one can check on SoundMagic's webpage whether the product really is theirs/original. Now, judging by that number, the product is not a fake, but I can see that being somehow faked as well. I'll post pics of the package and earphones in a minute.
Sent from my eXposed C6603
Edit:
Here are the pics of the aforementioned, possibly fake, product (click on the pic for a bigger resolution). A mail was sent to SoundMagic as well, to see if this really is a counterfeit.
Edit2:
Did some Google search and found some images of these earphones with different numbers, I'm not sure what they represent though. The numbers are M104, M204, M307. It seems it's a serial number of a sort.

Still probably fakes

Hey,
Thanks for the pics, I still think they're fake and the reason is the front picture with the What Hi-Fi logos on.
On the fake pair I had, the text of "HEADPHONES" and "SOUNDMAGIC" was a bit blurry but on the real pair it was very crisp and clear. I took some photos so I'll try and post them later to show you what I mean.
Perhaps the numbers on the wire are OK?

Hi Again,
Photos posted to stooorage (like the site BTW) and you can find them here (I'm <10 posts so no links in posts at them moment!)
stooorage. com/show/2707/11148750_fake1.jpg
stooorage. com/show/2707/11148752_real1.jpg
You can see the difference in the logo print above and below you can see a lack of "crispness" on the fake text compared to the real one.
stooorage. com/show/2707/11148751_fake2.jpg
stooorage. com/show/2707/11148753_real2.jpg
Unbelievably good fake packaging though, the differences are tiny.
Hope this helps!
Mark
P.S. The other thing I noticed was the plastic of the cable was a bit "glossy" on the fake pair compared to a more "matt" finish on the real pair.

@MarkMagic
I believe my e10's are actually the real deal. Haven't gotten a reply from SoundMagic to confirm this, but the sound is good and it seems these are the new series. A question though: did you get a number on the fake package with which you can confirm the product actually came from SoundMagic? Also, the letters printed on the package are crisp. All in all, everything seems to be original.

I had a lot of headsets (20+) and the best I had was sony (fabric from xperia Z) and KEF m200 (using till now) all sennheisers soundmagics denons and other audio brands were good till I heard KEF m200 extraordinary sound (for all kind of music) they're worth the money

Roar, i don't know how much is that in dollars $ even my keyboard dont have that symbol
but my personal preference are Monster Turbine although it's already discontinued but it's worthed... but if you going to bought it now it's still 6 items left on Amazon

It depends on what kind you like. For me I dont like in ear types they hurt my ear after a while
My favorite is skullcandy fix I can use it to sleep and stays in without having trouble of hurting for staying too long and the quality is the best for me

[Q] Anyone has tried Beyerdynamic MMX-101iE?

Hello everyone,
I found this headset Bayerdynamic MMX 101 iE accidentally just a while ago.
If anyone has tried it, can you please write your review here?
Edit: Is the sound quality good? Microphone quality? Compatibily with Desire?
http://europe.beyerdynamic.com/shop/hah/headphones-and-headsets/sports-and-on-the-way/mmx-101.html
This has caught my eyes since a few day ago but I can not find any reviews at all.
So, any words for this headset will be very appriciated since I need one right now.
Edit: Sorry misstyping by Beyerdynamic , it should be Bayerdynamic

Well...€99 still belongs to the middle class..there are still more with more expensive.
I think the price range between €70-€100 is the correct range for me, more than €100 is a bit too expensive.
Remember you get what you pay.
That type is competely new and there is still no real review available...perhaps I just have to wait for some time until the review is there.

I have found several good ones above €100 but I am not planning to go that high.
It was launched during the musikmesse/music fair just a while ago so..it's kinda new and still without any convincing review.
I will have to wait until there are more review.
Hi Im fairly new to these forums but i can tell you that you cant go wrong with these. I bought these about a week ago and have been nothing short of stunned by the quality. They have great bass and really crisp clear midrange. I would say that these are better than the sennheisers and klipschs s2i that i have.
One thing to note is that make you play around with the earbuds as if you get them wrong they sound really flat and dull so make sure you get them to seal in your ears properly.
It is also a coincidence, yesterday I met some in train on the way home after work.
I asked if I can use it for a couple of minutes in the train, and he said yes.
My review within a few minutes:
1. sound quality is incredible for the price.
2. mic is also good.
3. unfortunately, no volume control or whatsoever except a button to pick up and hang up the call. (not really a big problem, not really in need of a mic and pick up button anyway).
4. metal housing for the ear pieces is awesome.
5. the cable looks extremely fragile to me. it is thin, not braided, etc.
(I am not sure of getting this headset because of this. This is the biggest downside. My current in-ear headphone (Klipsch Image S3) has just given up or lost its life just last night, the cable got broken again. The warranty is still there, but I don't want to claim it for the third time. I just prefer a new one instead of waiting weeks for claiming. It must be something wrong with how I store the headphone in my bag ).
6. Ear plug/bud don't fit my ears perfectly, I have tried on the one attached tho'. (It could be another problem)
I also found Philips SHO9560 (O'Neal stretch). It looks super robust but doesn't have good sound relatively compared to mmx-101i. Its look is also very appealing.
Now, I'm confused.
Way too expensive for me.
For the same price (or cheaper) I would get headphones/earphones from already proven company: Sennheiser.
Update:
Phillips SHO9560 sounds teribble.
MMX101ie doesn't really fit my ear...it comes off often (unless I get the individual package, but it is too expensive)...I don't wanna get an in-ear anymore...getting something which fits my ear is just a matter of luck...
No AKG products fits my huge head size (honest), I like the sound of AKG K518 but it is too small for my head, tried also 430, 420, 520, etc....
This is official! I hate AKG! This company never thinks of people with huge head like me! It is discrimination!
Sony XD300, XD500...sounds dark (bass too strong, trebble not clear)
Dr. Dre Solo HD is too expensive for the quality I am getting.
I will look for some more...Sennheiser, Denon, Bose, etc....
What I hate is that Desire can not really pull Sennheiser PXC450 (I own one at home and I use it mostly during flights or at home)....volume gets too low even on max.
Sh*t it is not easy to find the correct one!
Late response!
I just found this thread after looking into the MMX101 iEs myself - what was your solution in the end? I really like these headphones and fortunately they fit my ears; unfortunately though, the mic and answer button did not work, so I'm having to send them back. Hopefully the replacements will work fine!
Did you settle on over-ear headphones in the end? Given your situation I would have recommended the Sony MDR-V500 - great headphones, excellent range, solid bass response which is punchy but doesn't overwhelm the mid-range, and amazingly cheap considering!
Hope you managed to get this sorted anyway.
I've got these. Nothing short of awesome. The sound quality at all levels is incredibly crisp and you don't use any equaliser settings/tweaks as the ear phones sort all that out for you. Had mine for two years now and need a new set and will definitely buy the same ones again.
Also get 3 pairs of different size buds depending on what suits your ear best.
Someone can confirm the microphone and remote of Beyerdynamic MMX-101 works with android?
Thanks

That does not depend on OS (Android, iOS, Windows). The "problem" is different layout of rings on the 3.5mm connector with different phone manufacturers ("microphone" and "ground" rings are swapped). It's natively compatible with iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Blackberry and HTC. If you want them to work correctly with Nokia, Sony, Samsung, Motorola, LG and other models you have to buy a separate adaptor.
I bought V-Moda M100 in the end.
It is expensive but worth every single penny I spent

Nexus 4 Wired Headset Detailed Review

Hello everyone, I noticed there are no full reviews on the N4's official earphones, so I decided to do one.
Please note; all opinions expressed in this review are of my own, and may not reflect the opinions shared by others.
Shipping
Shipping was amazing (speed wise), the package was shipped out around 11pm, and I received it the next day. but then again for such an outrageous shipping price that's what I would expect.
Box
The actual box the earphones arrived in is.. tiny, however it does sport a premium feel to it.
On the downside, the earphones were in a cheap plastic bag and had an overall feeling of just being "thrown" in the box.
View attachment 1919426
First impressions (looks)
The earphones themselves look amazing, the back-plate (bit with the X on) has a nice chrome finish with engraved circles showing off the Nexus "X" logo.
However, the base of the ear-bud is made out of plastic which is no biggie, but it would be nice if it were all chrome.
View attachment 1919431
The earphones
The earphones come with 3 different ear-buds, a tree design, and two normal straight buds. However, all the buds are extremely squishy and too soft to stay in the ear, so I had to replace them with my old Sony buds, as shown in the picture below.
View attachment 1919457
Cable + Splitter
The cable has a high quality smooth rubber feel with a normal inline splitter, however to improve; they should be going with the Nexus design (on the splitter), it should have had more details put into it such as the Nexus X logo, matching the ear-buds.
View attachment 1919466
Microphone + button
The microphone is standard, nothing too special about it but the sound quality is good, again same issue with the mic as the splitter; its too bland.
The button is in built onto the other-side of the mic, and has two uses (that I've noticed) one. Play/Pause button for when listening to music (Only tested on Spotify) two. when holding down the button it opens a Google Now voice search.
View attachment 1919484
Sound quality
Sound quality off the bat is.. crisp but flat. Highs are good, mids are average and there's no bass. However, just like with most headphones, all they need is a little EQ. Going with this mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2025486
I was able to achieve great, highs, mids. bass, the whole package!
Here are my settings:

Flat sound out the box

Are they worth it?
I would say yes, however shipping is outrageous, £6 shipping from Ireland to London, it would be nice if they provided an alternative shipping option which is slower but then again a lower price. But on a whole, the pros outweigh the cons in my opinion, the only real letdown (for me) is ear-buds; THEIR TOO SOFT.
All pictures taken with my N4.

Hey thanks for this review.
I gotta vouch for his review. Everything he said is pretty spot on from when ive been using them
I'd be curious for your thoughts on other similarly priced earbuds from major brands, like Skullcandy or whatever.

I previously had the Sony MDREX50
UK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDREX50LPB-Mid-range-In-ear-Headphones/dp/B004NRNMII/
US: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDREX50LPB-BLACK-Series-Headphones/dp/B004NRNMII/
Which are now in fact cheaper than the N4's, sound quality on those is really good, crisp vocals, good bass, mids amazing, but lows and highs do suffer abit, again nothing that cant be fixed by messing around with the EQ. The only reason I went for the N4's over a slightly superior sounding Sony's is build quality. (The N4's can be just as good, but EQ is REALLY hard to get right, It'll take you a fair while figuring out the perfect settings)
The build quality on the Sony's is pure sh*t, the cable literally 1mm tick, the ear-bud is made out of cheap plastic which has after a months use already started scuffing away. It's a Porsche vs Smart Car ( http://www.smartusa.com/ ) situation (for build quality that is..) with the Porsche being the N4's and the Smart Car being the Sony's. But that's just my opinion, as for me having bad build quality is a deal breaker. :good:
thanks for the review, ive been thinking of getting these soon.
The medium sized buds that came in the box are great, but not ideal for the gym. I recently purchased a pack of T400 comply foam tips and they fit perfectly which makes the earphone even better in the ear.

They're okay, still too squishy for me though, but hey everyone's ears are different. However I can differently vouch the T400 comply's, great alternative for any situation really. I was considering the TSX-500, but at such a steep price; I think I'll pass.

Yeah, I tweaked the settings a bit after, but now their amazing, - its really down to each person ears, and how they like the sound. My N4 headphones actually broke (no idea how), getting a RMA, and in the meantime I'm back with my Sony's, the difference is unbelievable, the N4's sound so crisp and amazing compared to the dull Sonys.

(Headphones) Good finding that I want to share with you...

Yep, as the title says, I found a good pair of headphones with mic that you may like, it's nothing new, but nothing that I could find in the Nexus 4 forum either...
Here it is! "Sony MDR-ZX300AP/L" made specifically for Android phones (according to Sony's website).
Weird side note: they are OMTP (according to Sony chat representative), and AFAIK, Nexus 4 is CTIA, so I decided to grab a CTIA<-->OMTP adapter, which only inverts the 2 cables that differ from CTIA/OMTP, funny thing is, when I connected the headphones with the adapter, they worked perfectly (also tested the mic), then I decided to give it a try without the adapter... guess what... they worked too (plus mic)! WTF they were not supposed to work....
Anyway, I decided to share this finding to you, I have to specify that mine is the latest revision (AFAIK) from Nexus 4 *White*, so I'm totally clueless if they changed something in the hardware to make them compatible with both CTIA/OMTP...
I also paired the headphones with a computer adapter, so now I have a computer headset (mic works too!) "StarTech MUYHSFMM 3.5mm 4 Pin to 2x3 Pin 3.5mm Headset Splitter Adapter - F/M"
Final notes, mic quality is 4 out of 5, not the best, not bad, there are other color(s) available, definitely sturdy and yet comfortable pair of headphones, build quality totally explains the price (it can be either good or bad, depends of your point of view, very good IMHO)...
CAN'T POST PICTURES (YET!), SORRY

Haha when it comes to quality and sound I go for the good stuff. That's actually least expensive when you compare them to 300+ they do fairly great and for the Price you can't beat them.

You can consider yourself an audiophile if you start spending more than $100dlls on headsets/accessories to listen music... I'm not saying it is negative!, just pointing out that there is certain price threshold where people with an educated ear need something better than the average $30-$50 headsets... (audiophiles )
For mere mortals such as me... this headset is very good, I'm still able to distinguish a weak spot in a range of frequency but I'm ok with that, bass is also a little weak for my taste but there is no microphone version of the XtraBass variant of this headset...
Talking about headsets, it surprised me to find out how other people prefer/user other more expensive headphones in their cellphones, poor DAC cannot even power such a high impedance! they need a FiOS amplifier to power them up... gosh... talking about obsessions...
There is a good reason of why many headsets/headphones have weak spots or poor bass, and this is obviously because they were designed to power up from weak sources (such as your cellphone's DAC), of course newer cellphones have improved a lot in this department allowing users to throw higher balls on the park (S4 by example)...

LOL, I am no audiophile. I just like my music to be clear and hit bass nice and crisp. But I do have the V-Moda M100's in my collection lol. I use that on my N4 mostly, but I use the M100s on my N7 and laptop at home.
When I want in ears, my go to ones used to be the Sol Republic Amps HD. Great headphones for the price and are tangle free. I just got some Munitio NINES 9mm in ears and the bass just blows me away. I am not a bass heavy listener, so I had to lower the volume on a lot of my devices lol. I gave my wife the Shure SE215 clears for a flight recently and she thanked me because she needed them when on a flight where there were a bunch of minors on a flight without parents and of course were loud. The lady next to her asked if how she could deal with all the noise and my wife said...what noise? I had my headsets in. They were clear so you can hardly see them if you aren't looking so that is a plus lol.
Bottom line, there are lower end headphones like the google ones, or sony ones that do the deed well on its own. I am not saying they shouldn't be used, far be it. I say try it and if you are happy, then that's all that matters right?

a-Jays Five for andriod

Ever since I got my Galaxy S4 I’ve been looking for earphones (in-ear/earbuds) with an inline remote with full control.
Today I received my a-Jays Five and I could not be happier. Everything from the packaging to the earphones screams quality.
It comes in a very sturdy box with a velvety feel to it. Inside is a manual (not going to read that), a cable clip, extra sleeves and of course the earphones. The earphones come in a handy round “carry case” with a crew on lid.
The flat cable is nice and chunky. The remote is a simple 3 button remote but very sturdy and the response on the buttons is perfect. They have a free app jays.headsetcontrol that you can fine tune the controls but I’ve not bothered as it works exactly like I hoped it would.
I’m not a music connoisseur but I am really happy with the sound quality and I can only compare it to my Bose MIE2i earphones. All I wanted is decent set of earphones with good sound quality to use on my daily commute to and from work. The a-Jays Five is exactly what I was looking for. You can find all the info on their website, I just thought I would share my excitement and a couple of pictures.
Just a quick update - 07/10: I've been using the earphones for little than a week now and thought I would update with a few details.
What I like:
1) I am happy with the sound quality. Even better if you use a app with an equalizer.
2) The in-line control works really well (you don't need the app). No issues switching between music and phone calls
3) Mic is loud and clear even in a noisy environment
What I don't like
1) The cable clip works but it's crap. The cable is durable but on the heavy side and without the clip it might cause "strain on your ears"
2) The cable sleeving is hard and hard bumps against the cable get transferred to the earbuds.
These two negative points annoy me but won't make me stop using the earphones or make me look for the next pair of perfect earphones. I just don't know what the fuss is with the flat cables and if the a-Jays Five had the "old fashion" softer round sleeving it would have been even better.

where did you get it from. they don't even have it on amazon yet was it $99
Hey ho,
nice to read this.
I was a huge fan of a-Jays and already got a-Jays three and One, both on my iPod Classic.
But after a 3/4 year i screamed in Agony as i notice a cable break with both of them,
one time at the Plug and one time at at one of the earpieces.
I hope the are more durable now... because the sound and shielding of outside noises are just perfect.
On the other side 99$ is a big chunk for just a Headset.
So anyway thanks for the Review
Best Regards

I got them direct from their shop in Sweden - just under £80 including delivery to the UK.

They have a 2 year warranty on the speakers and 1 year on the cable...
Like I said the cable is really thick and I can't see it getting damaged from use unless you want too.
The noise cancelling is great, I don't like to listen to my music at stupidly loud levels and I could not hear the train on my commute home today!
Personally I feel that was £80 well spent.

When I emailed them last week (18th) they told me they are just starting to supply it to stores in Europe and it would be more than 2 weeks before it's available from anywhere else apart from them...
Are these Ebay ones fake? I honestly can't say but I would not buy it

I don't have the gear to do a video review...
However I am more than happy to do a short review after I've used it for a couple of days.
Middle button (media) - Single press is Play/Pause. Double is skip track forward.
Middle button (call) - Single press is Answer/Reject
Top button is volume up
Bottom button is volume down
It's pretty standard but I've only used it once yesterday on my way home.
Thanks

Hey 1 more thing the box is soft touch plastic right?
Hi
Have been keeping an eye out for reviews for this, you seem to have been one of the first!! I'm surprised none of the main sites have done a review yet.
Quick question, have you had a chance to check out the mic quality?
Also, does the volume up / down actually work? Do you need to use the app for that, or does it do it out of the box?
They are pretty much double the price of the one+, but if there is a marked improvement overall in quality might considering buying a pair.

It's a hard plastic case, about the same diameter as a can of Coke.

I made a phone call while traveling by train and my wife said it was crystal clear.
The volume control works perfect out of the box. I don't use the app at all and did not have it on my phone when I started using the earphones. I might get the app now to play with the button delay times. There's nothing wrong with the timing but I just want to see how customisable it is.
Updated the original post...
Nice
Changed my mind about getting them decided to wait till december and get them as a christmas gift im 13 btw
I've got mine today and I'm not sold yet...I think they look very ugly when I have them on. It looks like I'm a doctor wearing a stethoscope. can you take a picture of yourself wearing them? Black out your face if you want I just want to see how they look on other ppl.
the tangles are so hard. they are completely out of shape because they've been rolled up in the box on their journey. I can' seem to "fix" that.
edit: also how is that cableclip supposed to work? I've never used one before and I don't get it's purpose. It's not described very well in the user manual (maybe ppl just know how these work but I don't )

Finally managed to pick them up today for c. US$84.
So, just to update, total failure with Nexus products.
With both the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 with the a-jays headset app installed, checking with the headset monitor, for the Nexus 4 the top and bottom buttons were not even recognised. With the Nexus 7 using the headset monitor the top and bottom buttons were recognised, but the functionality was exactly the same as the middle button. No conflicts detected and three button headset selected.
Can confirm the AJays Fives work on the N5. I however think for the price they are very average earphones.

[Q] Earphone recommendations?

Since my vz note 4 didn't come with earphones, can someone recommend me some decent earphones (in black if possible) that has compatible mic and vol controls? I'm not an audiophile, so I'm not looking to spend a lot. Whatever that doesn't break down quick and has good audio for music/podcasts. Also, does anyone know the model number of the earphones that came with the note 4 for other carriers? Thanks.

Sennheiser MM30G
I love these, you can't beat the value for there price of 20 bucks and they are 400% better then the included Samsung headset. They fully support volume , next/previous song and Answer/Hangup call (actually they are designed specially for Samsung). Great sound, great value, can't find a better fully supported headset for this price:good::good::good:
Any earphones are better than the included ones. I use Sony mdr 10 rbt for listening to music, plantronics voyager legend for most calls and meetings and also listening podcasts and I use plantronics backbeat fit for workouts.

Without the silicone the Samsung OEM are a little bigger (in picture white is Samsung) but for me they fit much more comfortable then the Samsung. Oh and as with most earpieces it comes with 3 sizes of silicone earpieces small, medium and large. I just looked up my invoice, I paid 20 euro for them here in the Netherlands, not 20 USD, so prolly you will by able to find them for 30 USD

I am currently using the earphones that came with the gs3 and none of the different earpieces fit me properly. Every time I moved my head, they would fall out. I am using different adapters and was hoping they would fit on the MM30G. If there isn't that much of a size difference, I think they might work. Yeah, I was going to ask where you got it for 20 cause I can't find them for that price. Closest I can find is like almost $60usd. Appreciate the quick replies, man. If I can find them for around $30, I just might get them. I will still look for some different earphones til then.

The build quality is better but the sound quality is not good. I started to use them first because they look ok and I was expecting them to be better but when I put on the backbeat fit for a workout I just understood how bad the sound is on the included earphones and how much of the music is lost. I am not an audiophile but I can notice obvious differences. And this is compared with bluetooth headphones which supposedly do not have as good sound as wired headphones.

Ohh...I guess I can ignore the newer OEM earphones then. I always wanted a wireless headset cause the cords always get caught on something. Only thing stopping me is that I just know I'll forget to charge them up. Do the bluetooth headphones eat a lot of the phone's battery?

Do you know if these headphones have different length wires for each ear? So you can put one of them behind your head. I recently got some popular Chinese ones that were recommended here. They sound great, but I really miss the behind the head wire feature.

I use mostly bluetooth headphones and I do not see it impacting the battery a lot but overall I am not so happy with the battery life of om Note 4 (910C model). Maybe because I have skype, lync, good and other stuff running all the time...
I also use the sennheiser mm30g... Only thing with them if you listening to music on full volume you need good quality audio, using Spotify definitely notice the difference between different audio bit rates... Also they have a great mic as I use it a lot and stock Samsung ones are junk imo for voice calls
I have these and love them.

Jay birds are one of my favorites
You could try the Etymotic MC2 and HF2 models, which are made to be compatible with controlling Android phones. They have them at Etymotic website but also on Amazon.
Will give you a heads up that while these are nice my experience is that, for heavy users who dont baby these things and keep them a bag and all that, they get beat up after a while - the cords fray. But the sound is pretty good.
The jaybird bluebuds x are hands down the best earbuds I have ever used. Absolutely love them.

Yeah, I just got them and really like them too. I bought them from Amazon but interestingly, this showed up on the Amazon site page for these in the last day or two:
------
Item Under Review
While this item is available from other marketplace sellers on this page, it is not currently offered by Amazon.com because customers have told us there may be something wrong with our inventory of the item, the way we are shipping it, or the way it's described here. (Thanks for the tip!)
We're working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
------

Thanks for the late suggestions, but I ended up getting the sennheiser mm30g because that was suggested the most. I might look into the jaybirds in the future, but they are too expensive at the moment.
