Sometimes, when I unlock the phone, the screen won't light up and for a millisecond it will turn blue and shut down again.
When I hold the power button to shutdown it will respond though.
Any ideas?

You need to post a little more info about your phone:
- What model is it? xt1032/3/4....
- Are you running a stock rom (JB or kitkat) or a custom ROM (which one) ?

okay guys so surprisingly i havent seen anything on here about the button combo to get into bootloader on your one x (or recovery)
i think its just volume down and power ? but a lot of the time it just boots up like normal.
anything specific i can do to get it to work better?
also once i re lock my bootloader, there is no way for me to get the phone to boot up normally, like no matter what i do it just reboots into the bootloader what should i do?
(basically im trying to get from clean rom on 1.82.5 base , back to offical stock 1.73.5)

You have to hold vol down the entire time until it gets to the bootloader. Also, turn fastboot off.
Or you can always "adb reboot recovery" if you're at a computer

I've found that if you lock the bootloader while on a rom that uses an insecure boot.img like cleanrom does you'll see "security warning" on the bootloader screen and the phone won't boot to anything except the bootloader. It's ok though because you can install the ruu from there.

how do you disable fastboot? (or you mean while the phone is running normally in settings?)
i tried running the ruu from the bootloader and it wouldnt work though
is there a different rom i could flash, then be able to lock and flash back to stock 1.7?

from the bootloader screen choose fastboot and you should be able to install the RUU
This method of getting into the bootloader always works for me.
It involves counting so read it through first as you need to act quickly:
Hold down the power button untill you see the capacitive buttons start flashing.
After a few seconds they will stop flashing.
Hold the volume down button immediately.
Then hold the power button for around 3 seconds and release it, while still holding the volume up button.
Hold it until you boot into the bootloader screen.

ill have to give this a shot, at what point do you start holding the volume up button?
My phones screen seems to shut off and not wake up. I can tell the phone is on though because the buttons light up. And if I press and hold the back button the flashlight turns on. Also the volume rockers seemed to work but the screen stays off. Occasionally it seems to turn back on but but it'll just go back off again. Rebooting the phone doesn't working and I've also installed two different ROMs on it. Any advice on how to solve this?
Relock bootloader with fastboot oem lock cmd and download and run the ruu according to your phone version and see if the problem persists. If you don't know how to get into fast boot hold power and volume down until buttons stop flashing and keep holding volume down till you get See the screen with skating HTC men. Or if you have a backup in recovery you can restore from recovery and see if that helps your problem.

I was hoping I wasn't going to have to do that but I will if its my only option.
Kernel mods will do that also.

Do you have backups in recovery, and like before you flashed roms? (stock rooted)

Haven't messed with any kernels. I was running the latest CM10 nightly when it happened. Figured it was the rom so I switched to the stable version but problems still happened.

No. No backups unfortunately.
My other suggestions would be to make sure you don't have a corrupt zip. Downloading from chrome or from you phone I've had issues. Ei8 or ie9 works well for me. Hope you get it figured out.

That was happening to my phone. I found that if i applied pressure to opposite corners at the same time, the screen would come back. If i let go, the screen would return to black. Everything worked when I touched the screen, volume rockers, etc. I took it into AT&T and they gave me a new one under warranty. I was running CleanRom 5.1 at the time. I honestly do not believe my problem was caused by over flashing or any type of hacking. SO, try to flex or contort the phone in different directions and see if you can cause it to turn on and off.
I ended up having to use RUU. The problem seems to be fixed. Still don't know what caused it but at least it wasn't a hardware issue.
A thanks would be nice

I appreciate you taking the time to help. And anyone for that matter but unfortunately the problem is still there. Might have to return it. Hopefully I won't get any issues from ATT for being rooted.

and reboot my phone .!
well that was the last time when there was light on my nexus now it wont turn on just black screen .!
and when i tried to charge no charge animation show up only it turns a lil warm .!
what to do now .?
Give this a try. With the phone charged take the battery out press volume up and power button then insert the battery. If that does not work take batter out press the volume up and power button again but this time insert the charger and battery while holding. If you succeed with any of this two methods install a different kernel original on if possible.

"This Solution is only for Galaxy nexus s i9023"
Note:- First of all you need to know that you will never have back light or any animation in your phone
after wrong flash.
1. Put your phone in to Download Mode using jig or by holding Volume Up and Volume Down, and then clicking the Power
2. Just Flash PDA,BOOT,CSC Using Z3X BOX If All ok then..........
3. Flash PDA and Modem using ODIN
4. Enjoy.

Thank you.
That happened to me after flashing the wrong Matrix kernel. I accidentally flashed the stock version of the kernel and all i got was a black screen. You should be able to boot into bootloader with Volume Up and Power. The re-flash the cm version of the kernel.
Hi guy's..
Since i updated my S7500 from JB to CM 10.2,
my phone is not turning on by the power button, all what is happened when i press it, is that the screen goes on for 2 or 3 sec. with a vibration, then it goes off again.
i have to go to recovery mode and choose " reboot system now "
and this is the only way to turn on my phone
i updated the OS from CM 10.2 to CM11 SpeedMode_KK 2.2 to CM11_SM_kk 2.2.1, but the same problem
i use CWM 5.5.0.4

Still nothing. After doing it, the google logo appears and it boots to the system. Unable to turn it off...
Is your battery life suddenly abysmal, too? I am facing the same problem. I suspect franco kernel, cause I am stock plus franco.
Battery drain is ok. In my opinion it's Franco kernels' fault. But there's literally nothing we can do...
Try adb reboot recovery?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
I could get into recovery:
Reboot with the normal reboot menu in Android, but hold Vol+ and Vol-. When the device reboots, you get into bootloader, from there into recovery.
Just reflashed my system.img and boot.img from stock to uninstall franco.
Will report back.
PS: Also had Lightflow installed, anyone else?
EDIT: This solved the reboot problem. If the battery drain is fixed I can only tell after a day or so.
EDIT2: Seems that the drain has also been fixed. Not completely sure yet.
EDIT3: Yeah, definitely solved. Will stay away from custom kernels for now.
Thanks man! You the best for sure sth is wrong with Franco, not sure about other kernels. Be aware guys! Think I'll stick to the stock kernel for a while...
I am unable to switch off my Google Nexus 5, tried holding down the power button for more than 30 seconds + but nothing happenes, the screen is blank (can just multicoloured dots - pixekl?), even tried holding down the vol up / down keys alongwith the power button but results are still the same.. do I need to wait for the battery to run down or is there any other way to switch off / factory reset the phone
