Best Phone Number Blocker - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I get some numbers I need to block. What's the best one out there. Thanks

Calls blacklist. you also can block sms its nice lol

I use root call blocker pro. Been using it for years. Works awesome.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

I used ones that are built into the roms.. haha free and works...

'Call Master' is the best.

I agree Call Master is amazing.

Mr. Number

Cataclysm rom has call blocker build in..
Sent from my Nexus 5 via XDA Premium HD

root call blocker blocks phone numbers so fast that it appears to be a busy line at the other end vs a ring then block like other free apps
but if u just want a basic one then pretty much all the free blockers are the same in terms of performance

Call Master performs above all the rest in performance and its bugless to me; especially if you set it correctly. I am glad the dev takes his time perfecting his app.

BUZZZZ... Bad answer... Call Master needs root. Incredible app!

Call master and root call blocker are actually made by the same person.

If you use Google Voice, you can use the GVoice app to block any number by marking it as "Spam".

The free version of "Ringtone Randomizer" is a trial version and is supposed to last 48 hours. That said, I haven't seen another app that does the same thing. Maybe your trial expired early?

Ok maybe I found out why I'm having trouble...
How do you set the default ringtone? There is no "default" ringtone? Anybody have a clue how to do that?

This sounds like a recipe for trouble, you'll be standing there wondering who's phone that is and everyone is looking at you
Nobody? the texts work just not the calls...

App Ops on Kit Kat?

So, I tried to install the permission manager app from the play store for 4.3 and it didn't work, how can we manage app permissions on 4.4?

Google have blocked access to it in 4.4 so the built-in app is no longer available.
Coming from CM10.2 I was hoping to at least be able to use this with my N5, but alas it's not so .

Wait... They removed the feature that they just added to the last version? Or they removed the old method of enabling it?

I believe they blocked the APIs used by the permissions editor which is why it crashes - but I'm struggling to find the reference I read that had this info.......
afaik they removed it completely. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47098228&postcount=2
One of the best features ever introduced to android and they remove it. Might even downgrade my N7 because of this.

I downgraded my N4 back to 4.3. Disabling app ops is terrible. Even apple has this feature: iOS alerts you if any app wants to access your contacts, or your photos, or your camera, and you have a choice to allow or not. Android 4.3 does not alert you, but at least you have the option to dig into the App Ops and revoke access to certain things. 4.4 is the first time an android upgrade dissapointed me (they destroyed the alarm app, the keyboard, the wifi indicator's activity/internet access, and App Ops).
App ops was never an official feature, so they technically didn't remove anything.

good god, why do the Googlers always have to find every disappointment thread to defend their master. Let me guess, you think the Google+ enforcement on youtube is awesome too?

So? It's still a feature they included, with easy access, and then took away even though it was nothing but effective for the users...

I'm with you on the users defending Google like the can do no wrong, but definitely disagree about the YouTube g+ integration... They needed to clean YouTube up, and now I can see friend's comments on videos more easily and only view the comments and responses of certain people... That was a good idea..
I think Google is completely wrong by blocking this app ops function, if that's what happened here...

Search for this app on PlayStore: com.findsdk.apppermission
I'm not sure its working everywhere. I have test it, on my phone its working (I9300 OMNI ROM).

Does anyone know where these preferences are stored? I'm mainly concerned with whether or not changing the options will affect an OTA update. If nothing is altered in the system files I'm sure we're good to go.

Native SMS & Call Blocking

Hi! Is there any plans for Google adding up this feature on Android L? This I actually found to be useful due to annoying spam SMS and marketing calls I have been receiving.
I know there's a 3rd party app but they are causing battery drain and isn't reliable. I've used this feature on my iPhone 5S through IOS 7 though and would like to see it implemented on Android. ✌?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk Pro
We don't know anything Google plans in advance unless they announce it officially. If battery drain is your concern, perhaps custom Roms are your future
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Thanks for the input, I guess that's the least working option. ?

I use slimkat, and it is included in that rom. Prior to that, I was using xposed and the module called blacklist.

So far Android doesn't have it baked in. Apps like Truecaller work well and in my experience, don't drain too much juices as well!

Add CallBlocking & Call Recording

Just flash this in recovery and it will add the setting for blocking all calls or messages. (Good for tethering so you don't get booted) It also adds native Call Recording. First time posting something don't be too brutal thanks @rlmiller for taking time to help.

Hd video calling not working and I'm on latest OTA?

So I got my note 5 and took OKC update I attempt to hd video call my wife's s6 and it just says a video call is not available. A Voice call will be made.
Isn't this supposed to be active on tmobile latest OTA?
Says all over the Internet note 5 s6 has it
I am rooted on darthstalker rom My thoughts are is this a stock kernel feature that disable hd video calling

Remember that both of you need to be in a LTE coverage area. If one of you isn't or the signal is good then it will switch to a normal voice call.

I'm running TekHD rom and it works with all the kernels I've tried. It looks like the rom you're running is made from a older base rom while the TekHD rom is using the newest T-Mobile update as the base. Doesn't work on the Note 3 but it works with the Note 4.

That's nonsense lol nothing to do with it .
So your telling me to give others access to my contacts and that has all to do with getting video calling working. I DOUBT It.
They wouldn't force such invasion on someone In order to run a carrier feature

Whatever you want to believe man, but when I had issues with the video calling and the enhanced chat, all I did was enable the feature and it worked.
You can also have it to ONLY share with certain people as I have it to share with only two people who have the note 5.
Not doubting you man It would be nice to just verify this is indeed the only method to use this feature .
I just can't believe you have to share your contact list with people to use it. And who knows whatever else .
