[HELP] Root s-off HTC inspire 4G - HTC Inspire 4G

just bought an HTC inspire 4g
and want to access the root, I have seen many tutorials and have not managed to do the s-off,
a tool that I have seen on multiple sites is Advanced Hack Kit, but this discontinued like many more ... can someone help?

You don't need S-Off to root. Just unlock the bootloader with HTCDEV, flash a recovery with fastboot, and flash root with recovery. Or use the Easy Ace Root Tool.

Yes i know, but I want change rom...
I wan install cyanogenmod....

Same goes for a ROM, you don't need S-Off. Flash the ROM from recovery and flash the boot.img from the ROM zip from fastboot.

I too am searching for S-Off.
I am looking to downgrade though and can't seem to find anything else that has worked other than the Hack Tool.
I found several guides but they all require S-Off.

Could you unlock or make s-off your phone?
If you didnt do any of them ,maybe your usb cable is broken , buy a new one and then give a try Easy ace root tool with a new usb cable, I ve expreinced that some of old cables even the original ones can not provide you a good connection between PC and phone

Yes, it is safe to flash a ROM. Unfortunately, you'll have to extract the boot.img from the ROM's zip file and flash it through fastboot, however, since S-ON does not allow flashing the kernel through CWM. There are several stickied threads that show you how to do so in the Android Development section.

You can achieve s-off here via Juopunutbear. Be warned that your SD car will likely be wiped out in the process, so back up your data just in case.

[Q] flashing boot.img

Hi,
I unlocked my desire with HTCDev so i have to flash the boot.img file every time i install a rom with a different kernel.
I was wondering if there another way, without connecting the phone to the pc, to flash this file.
I'm afraid not but i would like to be sure !
Nope, afaik not
There is a test feature on Sensation in 4EXT recovery, that allows doing it, activating bootloader upon reboot in some way.
I'm not sure if 4EXT recovery for Desire S has the same feature. Worth checking.
In any case, that's your only hope. The other way would be to relock, downgrade and S-OFF, to avoid all this unnecessary mess of flashing boot.img.
That feature doesn't work on desire s .
So the only way is via a pc using fastboot
Tapatalked from a Desire S waiting for Kernel 3 sources. WAKE UP HTC!!!!!!
Hi, Noob here!!!
I've been trying to install a custom ROM onto my HTC desire s , 2.00.0002, 3 branded device for 2 days now.
Super one click sticks at stage 7, tried all the deselect and reselect debugging fixes.
Done the HTCdev unlock, thinking this would help.
Tried to downgrade to use revolution, done all the zergRush and misc_version commands but nothing happens when trying to change version, still had $ in command line instead of #
I've installed Clockworkmod and can boot into recovery, have backed up, deleted and formatted and recovered succesfully.
My main question is.....Can I flash CyanogenMod without rooting?
if so, what other roms can I flash via clockworkmod?
If I have to root...how do I manage it? because I've been right round 3 circles of the net and these pages trying to find an answer!!!
Hope someone can help.
The guides here are really detailed. If you can't follow them - I suggest you leave the phone as is until you can, since you're likely to cause way more damage going down the road. And in the meantime, read the guides until you figure out what things do.

Since you have already been able to install CWM recovery, means that your device is already rooted? Check whether you have SuperUser installed, download the free version of Titanium backup and run the app once, it will tell you whether or not you are rooted. If it is, then I suggest you to follow the link below to downgrade and S-OFF your device (since you already unlocked it using HTCDev anyway).. Or you can stay S-On but i'm afraid you need to use your PC to flash the boot.img everytime you flash a ROM..
If it's not rooted, then try to root it with the same link below.. HTCDev unlock is different with root..
But locked down to 3 network is another thing, I'm afraid you need to pay to get it carrier-unlocked..

Try to follow this thread to downgrade, I was in the same situation like you before, and did almost all the downgrade threads but only this works out:

Hurley, there are two methods to exploit Saga. Try both. For me, zerg method works after fail trying the other method. I think you need to relock it first if you root using htcdev. ( am not remember the steps )
After root, downgrade to the earliest RUU, yes, im on asia region, but i used euro ruu, it works. Confirm your hboot downgraded to 98 after flash ruu. Then, go on to revolutionary. S-Off for good
All guides can be found on Index Thread, at HTC Desire S Development forum. ( im on phone, cant give links )

no just flash zip file .
Nothing hard here. I've flashed 4-5 roms up to now. All running without a hiccup. Here's how you do-
Extract boot.img from the rom you are flashing
Put adb.exe, fastboot.exe, adb.dll and boot.img in a folder
Flash everything normally through recovery
And when it's done DON"T REBOOT just power off
Open up cmd, run as admin and go to your folder( cd c:\folder_name
type adb reboot bootloader
And finally fastboot flash boot boot.img
Everything should be okay.

PACman v19.3 how to.

i don't know if you got your answer, but this is what i did. First i s-off the phone via htcdev, rooted the phone and flashed 4ext recovery via adb fastboot. After that flashed the room, and gapps via recovery, and last but not least flashed boot.img from the room archive via adb fastboot, because if you s-off via htcdev the room will not boot without flashing boot.img. Hope it helps. Cheers

confused in how to instill leedroid 2.2.2

I have at&t inspire 4g and I unlocked the bootlaoder by EasyAceRootTool and I have read many guides how to downgrade to 1.3 and how to get s-off and eng-off to instill leedroid
and these are the sites which I tried
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/install-leedroid-android-rom-on-the-htc-desire-hd-inspire-4g/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
http://androidforums.com/inspire-4g...ally-downgrade-root-inspire-4g-desire-hd.html.
I attached the information about my at&t inspire 4g in the attachment files
You don't need S-Off to flash a custom ROM; an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery is sufficient. More details instructions in the Ace Think Tank thread linked in my signature.
EDIT: why did you start two threads within a couple hours??
thanx but

Can I download it
if so plz tell me the steps to do it
2- how can I make my fone works in another carrier

Hint: you need to flash a recovery from fastboot, then flash a ROM from recovery, then flash a boot.img from fastboot. And for carrier compatibility, you need to read the manual S-Off portion.
Inspire 4g update problem
Hello, I have an htc inspire 4g running OS 2.3.3 Gingerbread and I want to root it so I can flash custom rom but I need to downgrade the firmware first or else it wont work.
Other problem facing me is this that I need to flash in pd98img but when unfortunately bootloader is locked in my opinion because it is not detecting the img file.
When I tried to unlock the bootloader it says hboot update needed.
I need to know that how can I update the hboot of HTC inspire 4g.
I would be really thankful if I get a solution

Run a RUU that supports bootloader unlocking. If you do this with a PD98IMG.zip you need to put the file in the root of the SD card and name the zip exactly that.
Thanks for the reply.
I really appreciate it but please can you provide me with the link of the RUU because I was unable to find such RUU after several attempts.

Your RUU depends on which DHD software version you are running. If you can't find one you need to make s gold card and flash another version's RUU.

Why are you trying to get S-Off? I'm not willing to help other people with the manual S-Off method because I haven't done it personally and it's a method meant for advanced users who don't need help anyway; if you need help I advise that you stick to just unlocking your bootloader.
ADB and fastboot are two separate things. You can fastboot flash the boot.img without bricking the phone, yes. My signature has instructions for flashing the boot.img.
If the battery level fell, it fell...flashing stuff takes a lot of power. If you let it hang on the splash for awhile I could see it dropping 90%.

If it takes more than a minute, you probably didn't flash the boot.img.
Because I didn't understand the question. And still don't. With an unlocked bootloader and a custom recovery, the procedure for flashing all ROMs is the same.

Another Problem
Hello, Now I am facing another problem.
The AAHK says that I have to downgrade my radio through flashing PD98IMG.ZIP but my bootloader is not detecting the file.
The effen-manual says that I have to relock my bootloader.
Now I am not sure that currently my bootloader is locked or unlocked? or else should I have to unlock it first through HTCDev and then relock it?
Please it has been 4 months I am trying to root but I couldnt find a solution.

Help rooting device

Hi,
I'm trying to root my device to gain S-OFF and to install CyanogenMod 11. I've been following some guides to achieve this, so the first thing I've done is to unlock de bootloader with HTCDev. After this, I've installed ClockWorkMode recovery.
Now, I'm trying to get S-OFF, but to achieve this I need to be root. So I'm trying to get root access but I don't get it. I've tried several ways like installing a zip package from the recovery, or using KGS Utility. Also I've tried directly to get S-OFF using the wire trick but it doesn't let me do it because as I said I'm not root so it denies me from doing it.
I have HBoot 1.27 Unlocked with ClockWorkMod recovery. Has anyone have any problem like this? How can I proceed?

Ok, Thanks! Anyway, I've just achieve to get S-OFF (still not sure if I'm root). Now I'm trying to instal ENG HBoot, but I'm also having some issue with it. It does not install it correctly. I've readed that this can be because the "jb_hboot.zip" file does not have my CID. Where can I find this archive containing my CID? (My device is Vodafone Spain).
