[Q] Moto G Telcel - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, Im really interested in buying this awesome phone, but i have some doubts, so if any of you guys has the Telcel version of the Moto G could you please tell me if it can be unlocked and rooted like the other ones without having to pay motorola for an unlock code and how much did it cost you? The reason Im asking is because Im scared of it coming factory locked or something and I want to customize it as much as I can.
Thx in advance

Yes it can be unlocked and rooted
Hi, yes, it can be unlocked and rooted with the methods described in another posts, the issue I've found is that unlocking my phone completely broke the Motorola ROM and I had to flash another ROM, the default Telcel ROM didn't worked for me because the WiFi turned off inmediately (it coundn't be activated). So I've used the Google Play Edition, still I'm having issues with the /sdcard, some apps will say that there is no sdcard and that I have to install one.

[Q][solved] device not avaiable unlock bootloader

Hello, my moto g is a locked bootloader, if I change the rom it, I'll get it unlock?
You have to unlock the bootloader first from here if you have a Moto G https://motorola-global-portal.cust...e/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a/action/auth.
Yea in order to install a ROM you have unlock the bootloader, and no installing a custom ROM won't unlock it you have to use the site above to unlock it. If you have a phone locked to any tariff like T-Mobile you won't be able to unlock it even if you unlock the Sim due to the addictions in the software and you will get a message "device not available" or something like this. So you can use guides available on the internet to solve this.

You can`t flash anything if you have a locked bootloader, not even a factory image and certainly not a custom rom. What is the problem on the Motorola site, could you post a screenshot when you try unlocking the bootloader via that site?

Well I haven`t unlocked my Moto (and probably won`t) but maybe you could try following this tutorial to the letter http://xperiahtcrootingrom.com/unlock-motorola-moto-g-bootloader/ or else Google around for users with your similar issue.
thanks for the support, I'll try this link.
wrap your head after a bit I decided to risk it all, I had a rom americamovil br ( claro Brazil ), this did not allow unlock the bootloader, so I installed the fastboot one retail rom Brazil, and yes I got this unlock the bootloader , noting that the risk of losing the IMEI is great, so think carefully before deciding to do the process.

really glad that worked, went for all or nothing, hope it works for most people who are not able to unlock the bootloader with the original rom device.

[Q] AIO Wireless Moto G Bootloader Unlock Issues - Resolution?

I'm really liking the Moto G after having picked one up the other day from AIO Wireless.
I was able to use the Ebay link that was posted here to get the SIM lock taken care of and now I'm wanting to get the Bootloader unlocked so I can proceed with Recovery, ROM, etc.
When attempting to use the Motorola site to unlock the Bootloader it says that "Your device does not qualify for bootloader unlocking"
My guess is that AIO (AT&T MVNO) has worked with Motorola to prevent the unlocking so as to prevent custom ROMs which would allow for tethering, etc.
Are there any other solutions available? Anyone here using an "AIO" version of the Moto G and able to get this sorted out?
THANK YOU!!

Thanks. The issue is not a proper copying of the key unfortunately. There are other people online posting with the same issue and the same provider.
Hoping that the community can help or that someone on here would have an idea of how to step past this.

You're hosed. Only solution is: Return the device and purchase an unlocked one.

There is actually a dude on YouTube showing how to do with specifically with AIO Wireless. He used a site called fastgsm.com
(Do YouTube search for AIO Wireless Moto G Unlock)
I know I know, this post sounds like an ad for the site but it really isn't. I am interested in trying this but I want confirmation that this site works before I throw any money at it. If you try it let us know your results.

You can do what ever you want to do my friend It is very easy to root and unlock the N5 and when 5.1 comes and you want to try it out, you can always flash the factory image.

First thing I'd do is unlock the bootloader. That wipes your device and might as well as get that out of the way before you load a bunch of stuff on it.

[Q] SIM unlocking the T-Mobile version of the Xperia Z3 (D6616)

Hi guys, well the thing is that I'm planning on getting the T-Mobile variant of the Z3 (D6616) but I would like to know if there is a root method for Lollipop?, since the update is already out. I have have searched all over the internet looking for answers but I couldn't find anything (only for KitKat; I know the LP update was released almost 2 weeks ago). I don't if there's something else necessary (apart from getting root access) to be able to SIM unlock this phone, I don't care about custom ROM's, kernels or any other kind of mod that requires the bootloader to be unlocked. Like I said, I just want to SIM unlock it and use the root access for Titanium Backup and maybe disable or delete the T-Mobile apps. Thanks in advance.

Yes there is root for it but I doubt you will be able to sim unlock it unless you pay full price for it from tmobile and us the sim unlock app that's on the phone already.

That's the problem, because there's no way to officially get the Z3 from them (they only have the original Z and the Z1S and the only way to get one is from eBay) and I'm not a T-Mobile costumer. I would like to know if it's possible to get it unlocked with a third party unlock service.
I just bought one for use on AT&T and I'm also looking to sim unlock. I'll update when I find out more.

If you are one AT&T better to get international version as the 700 Mhz LTE band is different from the TMO version's which is TMO specific. (Band 12)
For indoor use that makes a big difference in signal.
The low bands have better penetration. I am on T-Mobile so for me it's an advantage to use the D6616.
The D6603 (international) supports AT&T 700Mhz in addition to the others.
As for unlocking TMO version, for me I had to call TMO as the app did not work. They will only unlock after 40 days of device use on your account. It's done over the air...
So give it to a TMO customer for temporary use and unlock assuming IMEI is not blocked.

hi
hi, already posted same reply in another sim unlock thread.
i have a d6616 tmobile version and bought the unlock code, non able to input the code, and not able to unlock with the stock app, dual recovery installed and rooted already, is there a way to put the simunlockapp.apk in the system and then using titanium backup pro, to make it internal so after rebooting, simunlock code prompting?
or to flash a rom that prompts the code
or is there any metropcs z3 rom that surely can be flashed even with locked bootloader to tmobile version?
any help
than you very much indeed

Same boat. I bought a brand new one with film on it. But it was a phone only, no box or accessories. IMEI was a separate sticker (4 pieces). I tried to unlock a legal way but T-Mobile rep told me it's not in their system. It has printed T-Mobile logo in the back. I also tried official unlock app without success. They advised me to call Sony directly and ask what carrier it belongs to lol. Great phone, much better battery than G3 but unlocked phone is a must. I decline phones with 2k screens. I can't see no difference between Z3 and G3 screens.

Network locked after android 12 update mototorola g pure xt2163-4

Hi guys. So i bought a motorola g pure, xt2163-4 pvt1 with universal software. About 1 year ago from facebook. Phone looked new and it was "factory unlocked" However last night i had an android 12 update, wich i did, but now after the update, my network is locked. And the built in unlock tool at about phone-device unlock, wont seem to work, i get (SERVER COMMUNICATION ERROR CODE=200 MSG=SERVER_NO_CONTENT).
Isaw a couple of fixes on google, however they are for diferent divices and old, i was wondering if anyone here has a solution for this problem. I really apreciate the help. Thanks for reading.
I have the same issue but I don't have an unlocking app or was unlocked via server. Worked fine for months until after the Android 12 update.
ok so ima post a soultion that worked for me. My phone was unlocked via global unlocked, is just a gues, why? well last night i was about to unlock it with global unlock, downloaded the software, hoocked my phone, place my phone in fassboot, conected my pphone to the app, just to chekit it, i did not had any credits to use that unlock option, after reboot, phone was unlocked againg. so you might wanna give it a try. i even wipe the phone to see if the unlocked was ok after factory reset, and it was. so hope this works for someone else.
