I was trying to return my Galaxy S3 to stock to return it to Asurion.
Now I can't boot into recovery. I can't boot into the phone. I can only boot into Odin. I've tried recovery and things in guides and it fails in Odin.
I try booting up the phone and get the Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again. Except this doesn't work either!
Did u follow the thread on top.
Make sure usb debugging is on and go into download mode. Download all the required files. Drivers odin and the ics file. Its was very simple and work fine.

If you're returning it and don't care if aosp Roms can be loaded on again you can try the 4.3 Odin file and see if it works.

1. Mobile odin, however I've personally never used it. There are probably guides out there somewhere how to return the phone to stock.
2. You may still be under samsung's warranty period, they don't care if your phone is rooted and will fix hardware problems. They will flash the most recent stock rom and firmware they have to your phone so you'd have to re root it.

Thanks for your help I was able to get a usb connection enough and I used Odin on my laptop. The only problem I have now is that the custom unblock symbol appears when I boot up the phone. Any idea how to remove that now that root is gone? Ignore the following words...my phone won't let me edit them out. Thanks again.
Edit: it looks like the file I used was a 4.0.4 image. For return purposes is it fine if it's the older version? There should be no signs of root now. I'll keep checking for updates though

I would, if you have an ics rom they will be able to tell something is off. It should accept an OTA update. If you can odin again, use the vrblk3 image and accept the ota to vrbmb1. It may not be updating due to to the jump from ics to the most recent base. That will make sure you're completely back to stock, with a locked bootloader, and a stock recovery.

Hello. Question from yet another guy afflicted by the Knoxification. I was just wondering if I should flash a custom 4.3 with Saferecovery or if there's no point and it's going to be as laggy as Saferooted Stock. So...have customs like MOAR and Sensations been running better for people who safe-flashed, or do they lag as much as Saferooted Stock? Thanks!

First your slowness may due to that you took the OTA upgrade. If you manually Odin flash the stock rom, your phone should run well. I did this on my wife's phone and it's running very smoothly and quick. Second, people reported that custom TW rom should run slightly better than stock, but in my thinking they should have a bit more bugs comparing to stock. My stock 4.3 has no issue at all and running well.

No, make sure your pc has the correct driver for your phone then just download Odin onto your PC.Put your phone in download mode (power off phone, hold vol down+home+power button, when see the icon hit the volume up, phone should said download) then connect it to your pc, Open Odin, select PDA option, browse to the factory firmware,(after download you must unzip it first, it should be in the .md5 extention), then click go.

So this all started while i was running the Cm13 nightly and it suddenly started bootlooping. I booted to recovery, wiped cache and dalvik and that fixed it for a while. Later that day, it started again, so i decided to wipe and go back to cm12. I'd wiped everything and tried to flash cm12, however it rebooted during the flash and began to bootloop. I can,t connect to my pc because the phone is not recognized and I can't flash anything because rhe recovery shuts down into a bootloop anytime i try to flash. I've been at this for two days trying to find anything so if anyone has answers PLEASE HELP!!
Once you go MM you can't go back to LL.. Nature of the Beast, also if you flashed MM with out the MM gapps, which it sounds like you did, no bueno. You'll have to flash back to LG stock using the LGUP method. Its easier than it sounds really. There's a thread here somewhere about it.

It seems like it only works for the D855 but I'm on the D850. Are there any other options? I've been close to getting it to connect to my pc and I can sometimes get it into download mode. However, when i try to go back to stock using LGFlashTool and I reconnect to start the process, the pc doesn't acknowledge the device is connected at all.

I had the exact same problem, lgup will work. I've done it and it's easier than the first method (LgFlashTool) you mentioned. Only thing is the ToT file there is Kit KAt, so something better than nothing.

I looked into the link and I'm only seeing d855 kdz files.

Sorry if I'm missing something but there's no kdz file in the link the op gives. There's only tot and dll files. The only kdz files in the server are for the d855. Unless tot and kdz are interchangeable?
Tot files are good. Flash that one

So i got it to go through and it reset it. However, I was only able to boot to the first at&t setup screen before it went into a boot loop again. I'm not sure what else the problem could be.
Thanks a lot!! I ran through LGUP a few more times and finally got it to be stable.
