I need some help with understanding of flashing custom roms e.t.c.
If I have 4.3 ( latest official update ), is it possible that I upgrade to CM11 4.4? Or I just can flash roms wich are based on 4.3?

Thank you for responding!

whatever version of android your phone started with you are able to flash any of those roms, but you gotta be careful if your phone was at gingerbread and was updated to jelly bean, they had bootloader changes and will soft brick if you try to downgrade like that, its not for all phones but some and you should still ask.

Hi,
Thanks to this post (http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...5-successful-downgrade-4-1-1-hdmi-back-3.html) I managed to downgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.1.1. Now, I would like to flash the bean hydro rom or any other rom based on 4.1.1...Are they special step to follow due to the downgrade? Thanks

MAKE SURE YOU FLASH THE CORRECT RECOVERY VERSION CORRESPONDING TO THE 4.1.1 BOOTLOADER.
Sorry to all caps, but so many people have been bricking because they ignored that.
Will it be possible to bring it back to 4.2.1 stock rom?

Yes, I have been between 4.1 and 4.2 and back five times without a problem. You need to use stock rom to downgrade from 4.2 or at least that is my experience.
Downgrading you will loose apps and data. Upgrading you don't loose anything.
Hello i have a i535 Galaxy s3, with 4.1.1 jelly bean, and i want to update to 4.1.2 right now but it doesn't allow OTA updates right now, i have clockwork recovery mod installed and i am rooted right now, could anyone help me guide how to update to 4.1.2? also would i lose all my apps/settings/data?
Also i did try updating from samsung Kies but it said it did not support a update. but i did manage to backup my data/settings from samsung kies.
Sorry im kinda a noob with this stuff, i'd need a full guide to updating if that's possible, i rooted it myself by following a youtube video and it has worked well since.
Thanks
You can't update because you are rooted.

so what can i do so i have the latest jelly bean?
You can flash the ota in the bonus files section of this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1984436
If that doesn't work, you will need to Odin back to pure 4.1.1 stock then take the official ota that way

If you are looking for the latest JB, and you're rooted, why not install a 4.2.2? There are tons of awesome ROM's out there.

i'm just not very educated in flashing roms and such, but if theres a good guide for a 4.2.2 update i'd be happy to go to that. But id like to keep my applications/data somehow (i have backed them up on samsung kies and i've learned how to make a full backup on clockwork recovery) i'd just rather not re-download all my applications.

There is no 4.2 update released for this phone yet. What Mr. CJ meant was that there are AOSP 4.2.2 ROMs out. The Android OS is currently on version 4.2.2 but not every smartphone has it officially.

To be able to flash into a Kitkat Stock-based ROM or KatKiss 5.0.1? I need to stick with stock based so my flashed touch firmware will stay.
If someone could link me to the proper tutorials/guides that would be great.

In order to use the new KitKat ROMs, you actually have to upgrade to the latest stock firmware (JB 4.2). The new TWRP and ROMs require the newer bootloader. I'm not that familiar with the touch firmware and how that works, but I'm not sure if that is upgradable too?
First OTA to 4.2, then install any recovery (see Question and answer section) and then flash ROM.
Hi guys, I'm searching for a stock 4.4.4 rom or a closer to stock one, can you provide me with a link if its available?
And if not, can I flash a custom rom like BinDroid and remove some of the customization??
thanks a lot

The phone hasn't been updated to 4.4.4 and will not be. The closest you can get not is the stock 4.4.2 which the phone already runs. Or wait for the Lollipop update.
okay and what about removing the themes and costomizations from BinDroid ROM?

I'm really not sure about the process as I'm sticking to being unrooted for the time being. You should rather ask the developer of the BinDroid ROM about your queries regarding his ROM. I'm pretty sure he'll help you out.
And yes, I suppose you can root the device without flashing custom ROM.

yes you can.
I just want to get this straight before I do anything rash. In order to install a custom rom ie MOAR on my sm-900p if the rom says 5.0.2 does my android version have to be the same or can it be 5.0 and still work without bricking? Along these same lines, is it possible to downgrade to 4.4.4 via the stock room and will there be any issues? I have also read about leaked stuff like I am running 5.0 and if I wanted to somehow get a leaked 5.0.2 rom how does this work?
Thanks in advance.

If you want to install MOAR, check the MOAR FAQ and it should answer all you questions. Post#2 is a step by step on installing. Recommend you stay away from leaked versions until you're more comfortable about how to get out of a problem. MOAR 6.0 is based on the official Lollipop release. If you have any MOAR questions after you've read the instructions, feel free to post on that thread.

Ty for the response, but, I already realize that there is a rom for 5.0 it was just an example. I really wanted to know about the android versions and if they have to be the same ie can I flash a rom that is for 5.0.2 even though my android version is 5.0?

Yes you can. You can also go back to 4.4.x but it requires flashing firmware back for Kitkat.
