[NEWS] Nokia's Project X Android Smartphone Specification Details Leaked. - Android General

Nokia's mysterious Project
X smartphone, which if
rumours are to be believed
will run on the Android OS
seems to be getting more
leaks.
According to the news Nokia Android
smartphone will come with
a dual-core 1Ghz
processor, 4GB of RAM and
a 5 megapixel camera.
Those specifications put the
phone at the lower end of
the market, which seems to
be supported by the claim
that it will come in a range
of colours -- usually a sure
sign of a mass market
product.
In fact, it seems very
similar in specification to
the Windows Phone based
Lumia 520.
The key being that this is
supposedly an Android
smartphone, being released
by a company about to be
bought by Microsoft.
Whether it will be able to
dual-boot into Windows
Phone as well is uncertain,
but Microsoft has been
reportedly talking to other
handset vendors about
such a system, so this could
be a technology prover for
Microsoft to show the
potential.

good for start . especialy with dual boot.
it good but not for company like NOKIA .

Can android be not as smooth as iOS/WP7?

Apparently, this article claims it has a reason.Do read and comment, and if u r a dev, try to find a getaround
http://www.redmondpie.com/heres-why-androids-ui-will-never-be-as-smooth-as-ios-or-windows-phone-7/
No it's not the reason. But this:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-nexus-s-4g/120310-ics-hardware-acceleration.html
frankly ,the reason is that Android does a lot more than those crapsters
Why not find a reason why wp7 and ios doesnt implement multitasking when they first came out?
Sent from my GT-I9003 using xda premium
But frankly, who cares? Let's put it out clear: it's always a good idea to invest in an easier-to-develop software than on a hard-to-mantain code but fast. And that's android.
Does your phone lag? Put in a dual core. Does it lag again? Go for a quad core.
And one thing is android which is fully customizable, and one is android/windows phone which can't do quite anything out of the box.
Isnt it quad core is too much? Why dont they make tri core? Just kidding.

A day will come when even android GPUs will have clock speeds of above 600mhz or 1ghz range... That day is not very far..

Ya...android is superbly growing technology but still we should not forget that iphone is one of best & smooth os. My frnd has iphone 4. Forget about open source & all those things, in just 2 min i realised that iphone is super duper smooth. Android will definitely achieve that level & even it will grow more than that one day.

Well that's not entirely true. Huawei has mainly produced low end handsets here in the states. From everything I've seen and read, their handsets are emanating a quality on par with Samsung which says a lot. I think they're gonna do very well.

I have had experience with the Ascend phone which is a low end prepaid phone and I got to say at the time it released I think aside from a problem with the usb port (which evo 4gs at the time had) the build quality was decent and non-xda devs had it cooking with cm7
vanilla android was nice and with the decent dev support it had that low end phone was keeping up with more powerful phones.
that sounds amazing, but i doubt most people here would upgrade until they put a processor as fast as a i7 in teh phones

Maybe someday there will be a power efficient x86 processor in a phone but the medfield isnt it. Its a 32nm processor, but to match a 45nm ARM processor's power efficiency, it would have 28nm.

And where did you get that is has to be 28nm to match 45nm ARM? That's nonsense.

My apologies, guess I've read wrong! Anyways it seems like a great chip, but it still needs to catch up to arm power efficiency... and arm has plans for a 20nm process later this year and 14nm the next year... It will be very interesting to see how Intel plays its hand in the mobile phone realm!

What would an official XDA phone be like?

Ok since facebook is at it again with htc (perhaps htc buys facebook?)
that got me to thinking....
xda is great and all but we need to take it to the next level....
xda needs to make their own phone... thats right why not we have the skills
so what would an xda phone be like?
what specs would it have...
would it be an over the top phone or a low end crap phone?
would it use android? windows mobile windows phone i-os or some new os developed by xda? how about the ubuntu phone os?

Will the Nexus S get Key- Lime Pie?

Since we are so lucky to get Android 4.2, will we get another chance to taste this new flavor of Android? Will Cyanogen mod make a release?
And will our EPIC phone be able to keep up with these heavy versions of Android? We (I) need to know.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
The NS didn't get 4.2 .. the last official OTA was 4.1.2 I believe. So, probably no KLP
But it will sure get unofficial rom of Key Lime Pie.Yeah Cyanogenmod Key Lime Pie we will get:highfive::laugh::good::good:
it will be ported and first of all KLP should be come out !!
offcourse it will get but via CM or ASOP
Sent From Somewhere In The Streets Of INDIA.
It's probably more likely it will get a port of CM rather than official support.
The Nexus devices has a 2 years Google Support. So we got the 4.1.2 for the last OTA.
Luckily we have a nice and huge dev team
Can the nexus s keep up... It has internals that aren't the best

Any version built till now,you mean.
What makes you think that with all those quad core and octo core phones with lots of RAM, Google would release a still light version of android?
I mean come on...our 512 mb hardly can handle 4.2.2... And if multitasking your phone gets slow ..you get like 40 mb free at best.
Don't get me wrong. I'd love to see future development for my phone .
But seeing how technology evolves...i have to think that for a next level of android...the hardware requirements will most probably raise a lot...

Exactly. And just because it can "handle it".. Doesn't mean it's practical. Someone got JB running on the HTC Dream.. So technically it can handle it.. But it's completely impractical for anything other than saying "Jellybean runs on the Dream".
It won't be called Key Lime Pie , it will be Knickerbocker glory.

Yes i guess someone will like to use it. But we don't know how it will be in a single core phone wich 512 ram!
If i sai that te ZTE blade runs JB 4.1 but its much worst than 4.2 for us, you will see what I mean ... Let's wait

My friend has samsung galaxy mini and i read on xda that mini is getting an update of android4.4 kitkat.phone ram screen internal memory etc... I know very little of sansumgs
all i know is that because we all here
seem to be born different,
most of us, 'd rather rely on a fellow dev,
than on a manufacturer who sold you the phone...
so, when there is an update and your device meets
the requirements to run it,
you'll surely find it here,
sooner or later..
As for HTC...it is a smartphone manufacturer,
not a software company,..
their main occupation is: selling phones,
not supporting operating systems running on them...

I'm highly doubtful that the Galaxy Mini will be receiving KitKat. If KitKat does have support for devices with low specs then OEMs will probably just release cheaper phones that run it out of the box, rather than spending money on developing updates for outdated phones.
As for whether you should upgrade or not, I think so. I had a DS for two years and bought a discounted Nexus 4 two weeks ago. Definitely worth buying one, and you can be sure that it will be receiving the update to KitKat.

Samsung hasn't announced the Galaxy Mini getting Kit Kat being official.
Knowing Samsung, your friend won't get 4.4 on Galaxy Mini. It's too old device, even if 4.4 is made to be working with low RAM devices, Galaxy Mini won't get the update.
Why? Because Samsung wants you to upgrade your device (all OEMs do).
If i can afford it by samsung my girls has samsung and a lovit
