I have just received my Moto G and upgraded it to 4.4.2.
When I inserted my SIM, the dialer didn't show any of my SIM contacts, only the contacts from Google.
I did select "All Contacts" in the dialer's menu, but it didn't help.
The contacts are on the SIM, SIM management apps can see them.
I don't want to import the contacts, want to keep them in SIM - is it possible?

No offense, but what's the point of use SIM to save contacts actually, having a Google account?

That way I can switch the SIM to another phone and use it, no matter what the device/OS is, even a dumbphone.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Same issue
Even I am facing the same issue. I have some 703 contacts stored on gmail, including many email addresses that I no longer need and weir names from google plus and facebook. I have 99 contacts saved on my sim which I regularly use but there is no way to see them in the 'people' app. There is an import/export option, but even after importing my contacts I can't see them. Any solutions?

You'll have to go to contacts (app/widget) then options..import..import from SIM.

As I mentioned above, even after I import the contacts I can't see them until gmail contacts are ticked.. so the phone is storing the SIM contacts in the gmail contacts and you can't use only your SIM contacts

I have to say I concur with this annoyance. I can't even edit my sim contacts.
Seriously, I would like to keep my contacts on my sim card not only in Google's portfolio.

I see this as a Goog strategy to force user to use the Google contacts ..heck, it even wants me to start using Hangouts to manage my texts.
For now, if you want to view, export, import SIM contacts, use an independent app like 'Copy to SIM' from play store.
Or maybe install an 3th party dialer, forgot about that possibility.
moto g 4g

I guess this is a really noob question. But I've been using my infuse for a while now but I don't see any of my contacts synced in the gmail account...am I suppose to do something special to get it synced?

Did push Sync sns data?
Helpp =(
Hum. I still haven't figured this out. This is my situation.
1) Got Infuse 4g.
2) Copied the contacts into Infuse from the SIM card.
3) Changed the phone to "save new contacts to Google"
4) But none of my original contacts from my SIM card are getting synced to Google.
So, what can I do so all my original SIM card contacts can be synced to Google?
I think you have to export them to sd card first, in contacts hit menu then export to sd card, then you can save those existing contacts to google by doing the same thing in contacts hit menu import from sd to google , cause switching it to save contacts to google will only save future contacts not existing

For some reason I have 3 versions of each person across these 3 accounts. They even have the exact name match yet android isn't automatically combining them into one. Really annoying. Tried searching all over the net for a solution to no avail.
There is an option in gmail contacts to find and merge duplicate contacts
Yes, I've used that before. But when I use it now, it says there are no duplicates. Well that's because it's true, there are no duplicates in my google.com account. The problem is the 2 other accounts not merging with my google.com account.

So then copy all the contacts into one account
I used to have a similar problem with contacts stored on my sim card and contact in my google account. Multiple numbers would show up for the same person in texting and the dialer.
Migrated all contacts to google, and wiped my sim card clean. Make sure to keep a hard copy, in case something goes wrong.
I read it wrong ignore this

Yeah, that's really the only workaround right now. But I was hoping there was an actual fix for the syncing problem, so that facebook/g+ pictures syncs up with the already existing contacts. I mean, they have the exact same names, so why doesn't it merge into one contact instead of displaying 3 times??
I've just flashed to remics on my galaxy S and now there's no settings in which I can see my sim contacts.
In Gingerbread, I was able to add new contacts straight to my sim and use it in other phones if necessary. Is there any way to do that on remics?
I've imported them to the phone from the sim so they are there still but I'd like to add new additions straight to the sim.
A naive supplementary question also . . . If I import them from the sim to the phone, do they stay on the sim as well?
I don't know about ICS and SIM contacts, but why don't you use Google contacts? It's all saved to the internet, and much easier to sync. Importing contacts from your SIM card is rather... old fashioned, don't you think?

I don't really want to import them at all but just have them on the sim.
I've sync'd them with google now but that's only useful if your using an Android 'phone.

Save them on the sim, but that would not save the pictures and detailed contacts. Another option could be the export of the contacts and import them on the other phone if it's an android phone. Or take the outlook way and at least some contract provider give you the option to use their sync.

Press the blue contacts button, then the menu button. Press "More" and choose Import/Export. Then under export to: choose SIM Card.
If you dont want to export them via sim card, you can try to sync it with your google account. Then when you start using your new phone, restore your google account on it, and your contacts should sync as well. You can verify that all the contacts sync'd up correctly by going to contacts.google.com
Honestly, I think syncing with your google account is the most convenient way and the best way not to lose your contacts. But if you really want to go through the hassle of keeping your contacts away from google, you may need your service provider to port your numbers over to your new phone, add the numbers manually, or sims card.
Or backup to SD card. Within that import/export option.
Hi,
