How to relock bootloader on RAZR HD (xt925) - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it possible to relock the bootloader on this device?
The usual "fastboot oem lock" command does not work. I want relock for recevice OTA message update of kitkat.
Thanks

You can't relock the BL once its been unlocked. Having an unlocked boot loader won't prevent you from taking OTAs as long as you are running 100% unrooted stock with stock recovery

The only devices for which you can relock the bootloader are the ones on this page : https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/rom-images
As far as OTAs are concerned it has already been discussed back when JB 4.1.2 was getting released with the whole Rogers fastboot image vs official OTA. You will get OTA even if bootloader is unlocked.

Hi,
The new 4.0.3 firmware shows the bootloader as "locked".
It isn't really locked ,it is just shown as locked.
I have installed 3 ROMS with my "locked" bootloader.
Some fastboot commands are locked with the new firmware i believe. If u had s-off and custom recovery before installing u can install stuff through recovery. If u don't have a custom recovery check the development forum
But i cant install new Rom
You should install the rom via Clockwork recovery, Same process as before

Did you unlock using HTCDev.com? If so, that's why

Unlocking via Revolutionary gets re-locked with the firmware upgrade too.
The 1.23 firmware should be unlockable soon by the way. HTC wants the HTCDev.com method to work for it, but it's got a glitch. I am to understand they are working on it.
Once that's fixed i am to understand that fastboot commands should work again even on 1.23.

[Q] Will upgrading to OTA 9.18.79 re-LOCK my bootloader?

Hey guys -
Just got a Razr HD Maxx. It came with the 9.16.6.XT926 firmware.
I used Matt Groff's tool to unlock my bootloader and have confirmed that it's locked. My system is asking if I want to upgrade to 9.18.79.XT926 via OTA.
Question: If I take the OTA now (AFTER I UNLOCKED MY BOOTLOADER), will it re-lock it?
Thanks!!

For any current ota you bootloader ability will be unchanged.
For 4.4 unknown.

So, just to confirm: If i take this OTA with an unlocked bootloader, it will remain unlocked?

Yes but 4.4 is unknown.

OTA with Chinaman unlock.

Just curious if the bootloader is relocked after accepting the OTA, and if so will the code have to be re entered? Or will a Fastboot OEM unlock suffice?

So if I downgrade and take OTAs will the bootloader unlock remain, and is this even possible?
Once the bootloader is unlocked it cannot be changed to its original state...

[Q] Will an unlocked bootloader remain unlocked after Lollipop update?

Hi all,
I have a rooted and unlocked Nexus 5. Just wondering if my bootloader will remain unlocked after Lollipop update, either through OTA or factory image. I need the bootloader to remain unlocked in case an unlocked bootloader becomes the prerequisite for rooting forever.
Thanks!

The bootloader will only lock if you specifically lock it using fastboot or an app. No other way

So a locked bootloader remains locked and an unlocked one stays unlocked if I don't change anything in the OTA zip or Factory Image when flashing? Or don't specify it in adb?

[Q] How do I unroot Honor 6??

Hi I wonder how do I unroot Honor 6 I need it because I need to Get the phone in store so I can get a new screen (activate the varenty)
Sadly even if you unrooted they would know you have unlocked the bootloader. You should do the warranty via the retailer.
Don't try any unroot method/App. It will not 100% unroot your phone. Flash the stock Rom + relock the bootloader ( you would need the unlock code you used to unlock your boot loader to re-lock the bootlader. When you do those two steps, go the retail store and use your warranty without any issues

You can see the bootloader was unlocked by going to fastboot mode.

I don't know the precise wording but it goes something like "relocked state" or "relocked bootloader".

If it says REloced, then it will be depending on the warranty. But if it says Locked, then there is no issue.

If the person is wanting to unroot, that means they've unlocked the bootloader to root. That also means if they relocked the bootloader, the service center would know.

If the person isn't trying to understand the opposite side, and arguing instead of asking for clarification then he wouldn't really get the point!
