KK/JB/Improved ICS for P5 Mini or Control V1 - Miscellaneous Android Development

Hello,
We need a custom rom for our Gionee Control V1 or Allview P5 Mini. It's basically the same device, reproduced by one of the companies.
The problem is that we do not really know how to even start making it, so we do need for now is some developers and a list of bugs/issues, so they can start developing the ROM. I've tried to start making my first custom rom for this device, but it was a fail. I couldn't even get to set up the kitchen. So just one developer with experience in making those firmwares that could help us would be awesome to have. I will help with anything I can whenever I have to.
All I have for now is the stock ROM of this device, a bugs/issues list and a list of features we would need to make the system faster. Check the links below, and please start helping us. The company isn't smart enough to provide us a simple update, and not everyone knows to develop these firmwares, so any help is appreciated by us.
Stock ROM:
https://docs.google.com/uc?id=0B4T_A_R7N_g_X2Jlank2T09SdGM
Bugs/Issues:
• SIM isn't recognized sometimes
• Messages/Dialler oftenly shows numbers instead of saved contacts names
• Camera is taking blurry pictures
• WiFi connection not very accurate
• WiFi Direct sometimes doesen't recognize devices
• Keyboard's lagging
• SD card isn't recognized sometimes & all apps and contacts dissapear
What do we need:
• A new launcher (stock one is VERY slow)
• Better performance
• Less unuseful apps (including Antivirus, Navigation, ES Task Manager, MultiLing & others which slows down system and drains battery)
• Better icon pack (the stock Gionee/Allview icons pack is stretching the icons, making them pixellated)
• A new status bar (the Berry UI changed with a stock black status bar) (optional)
• Battery percentage (optional)
I'll update this thread when I'll come back home with more issues and features we need to get. Thank you very much for helping us getting a better firmware for our phones.

Please update your link for STOCK ROM.
Thanks.

i know you guys may think it looks like MIUI , but i assure you it's totally different ROM nor MIUI-based modification , and if you have time , please read first pages of all these kind people's reports and feelings about this ROM.
what i think is , every and any ROM is like child to all of us in Android community , and please don't think it is bad or ugly or whatever negative expression you can think of , because nothing is perfect , as MIUI , it is now 71 weeks old , and this one is only 3 weeks old, and for now , MIUI 4.0 does have problems and bugs as well as this one, it has some problems or bugs, but that's how all ROM start, right ?
we are just like bunch of daddies (mommies) here , to help developer to raise (improve) thier child (ROM) , they need you help and report!

=================================================================================
DX ROM introduction translated as requested (this translation almost got me killed -_-!!! be honest , i don't know what i am saying now...)
点心 (Dian Xin) in chinese, when put these 2 words together it means small food like cake or snack , in this case related with Android (cupcake, donut, eclair, froyo, gingerbread, honeycomb and ice cream sandwich), but , when separates them , the first word means "target" or "aim" , and second means "heart"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
and put them together also can be explained "aimed/targeted your heart" (don't get me wrong , doesn't mean wanna shoot you )
it means design and make ROM to do/be what you want, what you prefer.
Based on ASOP 2.3.7 (4.0.3 for Nexus S)
Seek high quality, make it an useful, utility ROM
Take account of both users experience and performance, let users joy using thier device.

You guys should stop making this kind of ROM. I already left MIUI for MoKeeOS, in now this one is tempting me again. Fortunately my USBs aren't working, so I can't do it in the urge right now, but I'll download it for testing, later.
this looks really nice and i'd like to try it but after flashing i just get a boot loop, i'm not really sure if i installed it incorrectly or what..... is there a specific SBF i should be using for this?

Port some functions from Cyanogen

Hi.
Sorry if I'm posting something wrong / old or already answered, but I don't find anything about my situation.
I have a Xperia X8 with custom ROM, GingerDX. Now I'm moving to a new phone, and it don't have any type of custom rom, Cyanogen support, or even a device near to it, to try porting a ROM.
Following this guide, I cook a ROM to suit my needs.
But, obviously, some nice features from GingerDX/Cyanogen are missing. I don't wanna go to ICS, I just wanna some features and a very clean and small ROM.
So, I'm asking where I can get information about porting (or create) specific features from GingerDX/Cyanogen to my device. Not a full ROM, only some of these features are:
Fast copy and paste
Keyboard lights control
Number of apps in recent list
Long press menu to open a search
Long press back to kill an app
Music control even with phone locked (next song / previous song by holding volume keys)
Shutdown menu (restart, recovery, etc)
Notification power widget
Clock to show 00:00 instead 00h00 (is a 'h' in the middle)
Contacts to show format number 0000-0000 instead 00-000-000
Compact carrier label
Center clock on lockscreen
Notification focus
Music volume not attenuated by notifications
And some others I don't remember. I know, will be a hard job, but I'm not affraid to learn. If I made my own custom ROM, I beliave I can install these features... I just must have a start point, and some sugestions from devs to do this (i.e: remove unnecessary resources like languages, images inside apks, HDPI and LDPI images and codes). Maybe if you point this for me, other users can use the same to install these features on their phones without Cyanogen support.
Or another strategy to make a good custom ROM, even without Cyanogen offical support...
Thanks a lot!!

URWsoft Barebone Cleaner [v.7.0] for [TW 5.0.x ROMs] Profile based Extreme Debloat

URWsoft BareBone Cleaner
Features & Benefits

Free Rom choice: Choose any Samsung Touchwiz Lollipop Rom and cleans it down to a core level. This way you can choose a Rom which fits your personal liking and requirements and clean it down to your comfort level.
Reduced to the Max: Reduce Rom A full blown Samsung Rom comes with about 300 apps which can be brought down to about 75 core apps
Faster Rom: After a full clean you will have about 1.1 GB free RAM available which is about 300-400 MB more compared to a full blown Samsung Rom. This increase the performance.
Individual Cleaning Definitions: The BareBone Cleaner provides you with plenty of options to customize the cleaning process and make sure you prevent apps you want to keep from cleaning.
Compatible: Several user feedbacks confirm that the BareBone Cleaner works with odexed and deodexed as well as Samsung based Lollipop and KitKat roms on all kind of S5 variants.
Saved Profiles:
Ones you have defined your individual profile it will be saved as an editable text file on your SDcard (URWsoft folder) and next time you flash a Rom you can run this profile with the exact same settings with no additional effort.
You will have predefined profiles for one click cleaning available. One save Default Profile and an Extrem BareBone Cleaning Profile.
You can reset your profile to default setting anytime and start to define a new profile.
You have a Bypass option available which will keep you defined profile and just present you with a complete unselected profile. This will help you to just select one or more apps for addition cleaning or select one of the Install options
Multi Window Operation: On the first customization window you can select which further menus you want to enable. Only these windows will be presented.
Alternative Apps and Tweaks: You might want to get rid of the S5 stock keyboard, or the TouchWiz Launcher. As an alternative you can select the S6 keyboard or Nova Launcher etc. from the Install Apps menu and be able to remove the stock apps without being left with an unusable rom.
Rom Specifics Menu: Most of the rom chefs implement different kind of apps to their roms which are additional to the Samsung standard Rom content. In order to give you the opportunity to get rid of specific unwanted apps which I started this new section. This will grow on the go and you tell me what you would like to see here as additional cleaning options.
Users Selection Menu: Some users requested me to clean even more content which I either didn’t test sufficiently yet or might remove rom functionality which is required for a seamless rom operation. These requests can be found in the Users Menu. If you tested these selections please let us know your experience is with it. If everything works fine for daily use these cleanings could be easily shifted into the standard cleaning options.
Additional Features: The BareBone Cleaner will further grow on the go and you tell me what you would like to see here as additional cleaning options. The profiles will help already to combine a feature rich utility with ease of use and fast track profile executions.
URWsoft BareBone Cleaner Project
I’m not a developer but I’m flashing ROMs since quite some years and today I’m experienced enough for this project.
The BareBone Cleaner is an Aroma Installer based tool which will debloat your TouchWiz Lollipop rom up to a core minimum in order to increase available ram and get rid of performance wasting apps and services which are not mandatory.
So get rid of all the Samsung crap, bloatware, the annoying “check cover” warning or other apps which you could easily add again to your personal liking from the Google Playstore.
I’m sure many of you was looking for this kind of solution in order to choose any rom fitting your personal liking.

Background of this Project
The original kick-off for this project was a longer temporary absence of Edgarf28 who provides us with his awesome XtreStoLite rom. I used his rom since the very first day on my S5 and even I tried tons of other roms, for some reasons I always returned to XtreStoLite.
Therefore I started to develop the BareBone Cleaner to be able to choose any TouchWiz Lollipop rom and clean it down to the same level as Edgar is doing with his rom. Short after I decided to share my BareBone Cleaner in this thread Edgar returned and provided an updated rom version.
As I enjoy this project and got several motivating feedbacks from users who would like to clean the rom of their choice, I decided to continue the development of my BareBone Cleaner and bring it to the next level by porting the cleaner logic to a user friendly Aroma Installer. Now users can individually choose what they would like to clean and I will step by step add more options now.
The most important factors for me, beside the combination of performance and battery life is the fact the I’m able to run the original TouchWiz rom but maximum debloated to a core minimum in order to increase available ram and get rid of performance wasting apps and services which are not mandatory.
So what happens if you use my script?
The script deletes all kind of apps from your installed rom based on your selections down to a core level what is required for a stable operation. From that level you can add any desired app from the Google Playstore to satisfy your personal requirements and style.
Important notes
The BareBone Cleaner is designed to clean TouchWiz Lollipop 5.0.x roms running on the S5 G900F which are either odexed or deodexed.
Currently I’m not planning to support other rom types. I’m happy to get your feedback if you tried it successfully on other roms as well so other users can benefit from that information as well.
Best use is running the BareBone Cleaner from recovery right after flashing a new rom but you can also make use of it if you want to clean your existing installation. In this case you might experience that apps like Google maps, Youtube etc. will be gone. In this case just load them again from Google Playstore.
! Flash this Script at your own Risk !

will defintely test it out mate,
well done just what i needed but would it be possible to make one where you can add or remove stuff
Good question, I need to put that in my QA section.
You can do this easily yourself by editing the update script file in the zip package with notepad++. Here you find the list of everything to be deleted. You can take out or add any other desired content to be deleted.

thanks i want to have Samsung video app and Samsung file manager
Just search for it in the update script and simply remove the delete commands for all apps you want to keep

by delete commands, you mean to delete the whole line of it yes !? i noticed some apps that arent in many Roms like the ktoon kernel or the alliance manager etc. even if you keep those in the script it is no big deal right !?
and when you delete a whole line that particular app/apk will not be deleted if it is present in the ROM that you would be using correct !?

correct, just take out the whole line of the content you would like to keep in your ROM. If you find stuff which is not present in your ROM it just does nothing.
the idea is great but you delete to much
fingerprint sensor isnt working anymore
and you delete "/system/csc"

that's 1:1 taken over from the XtreStoLite structure. Edgar also removed this in his ROM. But as discussed before, you can easily addapt the script to your liking.
Thanks for this can't wait to try

I already expected this feature request coming sooner or later. This was created for my own use but it looks like I need to make it more comfortable for the community. I will see what I can do. Probably I need to evaluate Aroma but this will take some time.
Most of the issues which was reported so far are the fingerprint scanner and the samsung keyboard to be kept. As a fast solution I will create another version which will keep these apks. This should resolve the immediate issues. As many rooted users are working with Titanium or similar tools they could feeze these apks later on when they are not wanted.

[Completed] Transition Jailbroken Iphone4 to Anrdoid: Which device if I need this SW Features:

Dear reader, I want to make the transition from IOS to Android and I have detailed requirements to the software and hardware of my new Smartphone maybe you can give me your opinion on one or more of this topics:
So basically I want to buy the smartphone which fits the requirements the most. The importance is descend.
I do not care about the price nor the size of the Device.
1. I want to use the Device and the operations System Version as long as possible and if possible set up everything once and then only update Apps if I have to. And do not update the OS because this means all my Xposed Tweaks are gone and there is maybe no version out for the new OS.
For my Iphone I manageed it to use IOS 5.1.1 for up to three years.
2. I want to be able to customize my Statusbar, Lockscreen, physical Buttons on the phone, Notifications ...
I am so used to the following features:
2.1 - In Android world you would call this: Xposed Module Repository -> Physical Button Music Control
2.2 - I need a method that the phone is silent ( no vibration too ) and only wakes up the screen if an email, whatsapp arrives, BUT all calls ( unknown, in contact list, supressed number ) will vibrate or only wake display or vibrate and ring. At least the options for the calls should be easy accessible and I need an icon in the Statusbar that tells me something like: Warning you phone will not vibrate/sound if somebody calls you.
2.3 I want to have the Day,Date in the statusbar eg. "Mo23.02"
2.4 I need reminders that will stay on the Lockscreen
2.5 I need if I get notifications like a new mail, whatsapp message, or facebook message, that this message will be displayed with a preview on the lockscreen and stay on the lockscreen until it is marked as read ( In IOS they without Jailbreak Tweak they dissapear after the first unlock )
2.6 I need that my calender events are shown on the lockscreen
3 Genreally I want a clear structured layout, no fancy animations but to be able to customize behavior of the phone as much as possible. I do not need the newest autofocus, fingerprint technical gadet stuff, but the phone should be as fast as possible. I need it to enhance my productivity in daily life and want to set it up once and use it as long as possible without reconfig it
4 So does this mean go to CM or are there Stock ROMS who can be customized with Xposed Framework very good.
Which Phone in the High End sector can you recommend? Which one is famous for supporting CM or XposedFramework on stock very good ?

[R&D] oZoP support and compatibility

I am creating this R&D thread for a project I've been working on for most of this year.
The project named "oZoP" is an All-in-One mods/themes/tweaks for the phone.
The plan for the project is to make it a universally compatible for ALL stock based rom (AOSP is not and never will be supported or compatible)
I will probably release oZoP ConTroL as a stand alone zip mod that will do most of the work and include most or the options.
Eventually I will release the full Aroma oZoP (One Zip One Place) that will include a full rom with all bloat files (all optional of course), along with various other tools needed to build you phones setup the way you like it.
The reason for this thread is to receive valuable and needed user feedback, recommendations and requests.
The feedback will be used to build "OUR" project into a bug free, totally stable experience that will have something for everyone!!
We will get into more detail about what info is needed and how we can get it all put together.
I will add more details as I update this thread. There are A LOT of mods and a lot of info so this will take time.
If you are really that interested and just need to know more, you can always take a glance at some of my other projects,
Most of these projects are simply just sections of oZoP that have been pulled out as a stand alone mod.
Here are a few samples of the mods during the build phase (some features may or may not appear the same or make it to the initial public release)

As you can see from what I have in the previews above There are a lot of options and configurations possibility and that's only about 1/5th of what is actually available at this point today.
With all those options come lots of possible conflicts with the various devices and variants that are planned to be on the list of compatible devices.
That brings me to the reason for this thread... I have the H918 Tmobile and may or may not need several users with other devices to be the support section to check compatibility!
To be clear, I have been building this project since March and have recently finished running clean install testing for the past 10 days to ensure all the defaults are set properly and that there are zero bugs that I can detect with my setup.
Again, just because everything works as it is intended for me with my model phone, carrier variant and app and setting setup, doesn't mean it will be the same for everyone.
This thread will hopefully eliminate any possibilities of this not working for everyone and ensures a wonderful experience
You may or may not have seen the following projects. They are in fact sections of oZoP pulled out as stand alone mods.
They have been sort of "silent" compatibility tests that have passed with flying colors. There has been no reports of things not working.
oZoP Modz - Full-screen Caller ID
oZoP MoDz - System Animations
BOOT/SHUTDOWN ANIMATION CHANGER
The next test is being announce as such and is starting taking place right here right now.
This has been tested privately for the last few days and the confirmed Roms and devices include Weta (all US carriers), NATF and one I can't remember right now
DEVICE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Rooted
2. Stock based deodex rom
oZoP MoDz Notifications and more

Included:
*volume slider sound toggle*
*volume panel timeout*
*remove ongoing notification for Powersave mode*

*quicksetting sync toggle warning*
*hide popup for incompatible charging slow mode*
*set trigger for low battery warning*

Report bug properly to get my support
Of course there are many way to properly report bugs and ALL of these ways have one thing in common, THEY ALL REQUIRE VERY DETAILED NOTES of the issue!
I'm moy goimg to go deep into how detailed you could get because lets face it, most people that report improperly are the ones who don't read and probably are going to read this! HaHaHa...
To get support from me I only ask for some simple things
1. What device, and rom you are running
2. What is the issue (no boot, fc everywhere, fc only certain app etc...)
3. Which option did you select
4. Did you get the install log
5. Did you use the restore.zip option to get back running
6. Do other choices share the same effect
That looks like a lot, but it really is the minimum amout of info need to troubleshoot!
Provide me that and I'll do my best to fix things and make this fun for everyone.
If you post things like
"Doesn't work", "bootloop" or anyone other similar post that have no value and help development is no way, actually these kinds of post only put development behind amd slow progress die the fact that anyone who cam help has to waste their time reading it!
If these kind of post ever come up, its best to ignore the lazy person and not clog the thread with flaming replies as that too slows development!

Just curious I could have missed it but will the ability to turn off the annoying battery full notification be included in the mods? And any chance the ROM could include WETA like abilities to modify what is on the second screen (ie: 3min clock)?
Thanks for sharing all this by the way. Exciting times for our V20!
I noticed today that if I do a bulk execute on the second screen mods work on weta. But if I try to just modify them under ui mods individual it causes the system ui to crash. I'm on Verizon weta 5.1 #2

For the clock I have mod native built with control of many thing which do include layout position. I also have native build battery controls including the option to switch between stock modded or 3 minit batteries.
I have stock battery position left/right, but so far it doesn't work right for second screen so the battery will be in the stock position on the right for now.
The reason for this thread is for suggestion, recommendations.
That being said, i currently do not have a switch for the full battery notification.... Currently... I will be adding that and you can expect to see it in the official release!
Thank you

For the 3 replies about having compatibility issues, I want to say this does not come to a surprise and I can assure you that this will not be the case with the official release.
I suspect the reason for this fc issue is because WETA is a very customized rom and some of the mods are probably pushing files the the sysui which I modded and the old files are conflicting because they do not include the referances to the edits I made for the animated home button etc.
This will not be an issue when all the oZoP files are in place.
So i also want to clear this up...
Once the official oZoP is ready and gets installed on to your rom, it will override ALL current mods of your rom. The mod includes most core system files that devs mod.
Don't worry though, i am pretty sure that ANY mods you currently have will be available with oZoP.
If we find out that there is a mod which I haven't included, just let me know and i will definitely do what i can to add the feature.
Sorry for the inconvenience. I will make things more clear for the future as well as add a restore failsafe to the zips.

Thank you sir and the previews don't give any justice to what is really going on!! This will definitely keep you busy for a while. There are a lot of variations of the mods amf theme options!

I think it would be cool to have a working color coded battery bar for the second screen especially for the AOD part as it's easier to read than a small white battery icon and even the 3minit battery is still pretty tiny when trying to see it at a glance. Not sure if it is do-able
2nd screen is awesome on this phone just wish there was more ways to customize it. Be nice to force it to max brightness as well as being able to increase the time it displays notifications like text messages and stuff.

Again, thank you and this is what this thread is about, getting things we all want in one mod!
So for battery bar in SS, i already have the options for top/bottom placement, regular (left to right) or centered style, charging animation on/off, size and colorpicker for any color. I do not have it color coded, I assume you mean by percentage of battery remaining?
I can definitely look at adding to my code, but that may come in future updates...
As for the other battery options, stock battery is only white if you choose to leave it that way. The battery icon has color optiins for background, foreground and in-battery precentage colors. The icon has several styles including hide, circle and dotted cirlces. 3minit is 3minit, no need to go into that one.
As you can see, there are currently options that could hopefully satisfy your battery needs.
I totally aggree about needing more controls for SS options like brightness and screen notification timeouts.
@Zacharee1 and I have been looking deeper to add options for pulse and text color controls, but again this one may have to be for future updates as well...
Thank you for your interest and participation here.
Thanks for taking time to clear up as to why we're having issues. Your mods are awesome. And I commend you for putting the time in to do this for this phone. ?? ?? Im sure everyone in this forum with this phone is extremely grateful to you for doing this, as we don't have many choices for roms and such for a phone that is a year old. It amazes me, my old old HTC desire and galaxy s4 are still getting roms released yet this phone is all but abandoned. Lol anyway thank you immensely and I look forward to the finished product. (I will also beta test any releases you push if needed)

I don't plan on getting a mew phone for at least another yr so you guys are should get ready for a fun ride on oZoP!
@KUSOsan just finished up the Full battery switch and love your suggestions so keep em coming. There can't be that many left.. Haha that mod make puts the total keys used for included mods at 407! Thats 407 different settings some pf which include 50+ choices!
Do the math, its basically unlimited possibilities!

I need to write them down because I can never think of stuff on the spot but it's always whenever the problem arises.
Most of my suggestions pretty much center around the 2nd screen as there is just a disappointing lack of customization for it considering that is the biggest defining feature about the V20.
I was hoping LG would add more stuff to it after they talked big about focusing on the 'V' series as their main contender with the G series taking a backseat compared to it but with the V30 coming out sans a 2nd screen I have a bad feeling that if anything they are going to abandon any 2nd screen updates completely or just streamline it (i.e. neuter it with less features but make it look prettier) for the Oreo update if this phone ever gets it.
I also have a bad feeling that Oreo is going to be a long ways out for this phone so your timing with the mods and ROM are perfect ?
I'm extremely interested in this ozop rom. Thanks for puting all you time and effort into this. Will this work for the sprint ls997 model? If so which rom will we need to be running?
