I opened time a go a thread where you could get 10 TBytes free and synchronized: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506195
Tencent was behind this service and its eternal rival Qihoo countered with a service that allows you to obtain more than 36 TBytes. Also free and also with synchronized tool.
Leaving aside confidence issues and service continuity, this solution is better than Tencent's one and not only because the increase in disk space.
The synchronization tool is better with more available information about the process.
Qihoo also provides a desktop tool that allows you to access to your cloud disk as it were a USB external hard disk.
Another difference is that when you share a folder, the guest can see the content before download.
Some of the features included:
36 TBytes free
Desktop tool
Synchonization tool with Explorer plugin
Android and iPhone app
Audio/Video streaming (web content)
Recycle Bin (web)
Time machine: File control version (web)
Fast upload/download
Android and iPhone app
And some that needs to be improved
Only available in Chinese.
Desktop and synchronization applications only for Windows.
Probably the first point is the most annoying for people like me that doesn't understand this language.
I've written a full review in my blog: http://imahgin.blogspot.com.es/2014/01/yunpan-disco-en-la-nube-gratis.html
The post is in Spanish and the link redirects you to an automatic translation to English so don't expect a perfect result.
The problem with the language is that I'm not being able to translate the synchronized tool for Windows. Sentences are not in an XML file so it's hard to get it in other language.
As for the Android app, I tried to decompile and compile it again but the apk detects itself it has been modified and doesn't starts up.
Fortunately, @imapk found a breakthrough in a previous build and he managed to translate it to English.
So, these are the steps if you want to get 36 TBytes for free:
Register here: http://yunpan.360.cn/reg.. You'll receive 5 GB
Install the desktop application from here: http://yunpan.360.cn/index/download#windows and sign in into your account. I installed the client for Windows. Not sure if it works if only installs the Synchronization tool. This will give you 10 TBytes
Install the Android app from here: http://yunpan.360.cn/index/download#android and sign in again in your account. You'll receive 26 TBytes.
Attached is the translated apk to English but remember, it's not the last version. All credits goes for @imapk

nice... got new 36TB drive.. Thanks for the info.
After much trouble,I received 36 TB of space. After registration,I got 360 GB. With android client, 26 TB. The main problem was how to download Desktop tool from the Yunpan. Every time connection with their server was extremely slow and at the end cancelled! I search Baidu for backup of the client to download it. To save your time and nerves, here is my mirror:
Code:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/63kx59x12bqh/360wangpan_setup.exe
Enjoy! Yunpan is really better than Tencent as cloud storage service.
I need to use it with a proxy, before i can login, does the windows app let me do that?

Thanks!!

I still use Tencent instead of this, you can upload with high-speed at Tencent but not YunPan. I don't know why, may be Tencent's server is better ?
And I don't know Chinese, so I will not move to YunPan even it provide a lots of TB. :good:
very good :good:
yunpan 360 v3.7.32250 Partial Translation
i have translated the yunpan 360 for windows, based on version 3.7.3.2250, using Google Translate, and the file "language.ini" i found inside the installation directory,
this translated some of the menu items and submenus.
the translation is not accurate, feel free to change and post your modification.
Also attached small screenshot.
there is a small files inside the installation directory called 'language.ini'
in my case its under "C:\Program Files (x86)\360\360WangPan"
unpack and replace this file with the attached one, it will translate the menu and sub menu in some locations, and can be helpful
note, i modified the original file based on version 3.7.32250 (version can be found when clicking on the menu button on the upper left corner of the application and pressing "A")
hope it will help, 36TB is absolutely nice, and worth the struggle with the Chinese language.
hopefully there will be native English for the entire application bundle from yunpan
Enjoy.

Hello, I went to filefactory and searched for that but it showed nothing. I have installed this on PC and Android but have not a clue
on how or what to do to set things up.......Welcome any advice or walkthrough.........
unable to registered account on 360 website... It requires phone no. but did accepting mine.
Ok, seriously confused. Referencing the 360 desktop application, the log-in screen has three fields, one with a person icon which I assume is the user email address, then two with locks on them. I'm using a 20-character random-generated password (thank you, KeePass), and it doesn't matter if I put it in the top, the bottom, or both, I get red cn characters telling me I did something wrong.
Can someone who can read simplified Chinese tell me what goes in which field? And lord help me, is this like Tennant which while allowing a long password in the web version will only allow 16-characters in the desktop app?
Edit: Ok, got past that to the log-in (apparently main screen is sign-up screen), and logged-in for the additional to 10T. Now trying to log in with Android app, and consistantly get "Operation Failed" (in the English translate, and I assume a similar error with the latest Android app from yunpan). So what am I doing wrong this time? Even changed my password from 20-characters to 15 to see if that would help, but no joy.
Edit (redux): I just can't get my phone to log into the yunpan account, so I downloaded one of the Android emulators (actually the Andy VirtualBox machine), installed the app there, and logged-in easily getting the entire 36T added to the account.
Works perfectly, can someone post an updated english apk? I can put it somewhere more permanent
Hardly sounds sustainable
How can they offer these things? Obviously not every user is going to upload 36TB. If they did, I'm sure about 10 users would fill up their drives
It's a bit like airlines over-selling seats because they expect a few people to no-show!

I've been working for some time developing a web-tv service. It started only available for Windows XP/Vista and now it is available on Windows Mobile, Linux and Mac OS X.
In terms of the Windows Mobile version some of the more interesting features are:
- live TV streaming at 128 kbps and 512 kbps (suitable for EDGE/3G/HSDPA/WIFI)
- users can play back content that was aired a maximum of 7 days before
- available for Windows 5/6
- support for VGA devices such as the Diamond Touch
I hope you can enjoy this service.
http://www.pbxtelecom.ro
Setup instructions:
1) Download and install the the right version for your handset by pointing your mobile browser to http://www.pbxtelecom.ro (or alternatively download the CAB to your computer and copy and install it on your handset).
2) Go to Options - Options and choose International in the PBX Network dropdown.
3) Create an account if you already don't have one by going to Options - Options - Options - Create Account.
4) Depending on your location choose the closest Publishing Point to you by going to Options - Options - Options - Refresh Servers and choose a Publishing Point from the dropdown.
5) Choose either broadband or mobile from the Connection Speed dropdown.
doh!
Hello there,
The link to download brings up a download site - I have been able to find the qvga version but no matter what I search, I cannot get the VGA version for ma advantage!
Otherwise I would test it!
Thanks
Does the program support English. I noticed the site does not (as I can not find an option to change language). So just curious as to whether the program has adjustable language or at least a seperated language file where users can make their own conversions?
The VGA version is the last one: http://pbxtelecom.ro/tv/updates/ptv_mobile.htm
SiliconeClone, Windows Mobile and Linux versions are exclusive in English. Windows XP/Vista has a language selector (it pops up the first time you run the application) and defaults to English. Perhaps you are using older versions of the software.
LE: there was a DNS problem that denied the serving of the CAB and sent the user to another project that I am currently working on ( http://www.sharemobile.ro ). Press refresh on the download page and try again. This only occured with some hosts. Sorry for the confusion.

Has anyone had a chance to give this a try? I'm far from a programmer or developer and would prefer to not crash my phone. Maybe I'll be a guina pig and try it. If it matters, I'm running Win Mobile 6.1 on my XV6800.
How could you crash your phone by viewing streaming? It's a simple CAB file that installs on your phone - nothing more.

It is an application and can mess things up if it has real problems. I'd just prefer to not have to hard reset if there's a serious glitch in the software.
I downloaded and installed it, but I have no idea how to use it lol. What server am I supposed to be logging in to and where do I get a name / pass etc..? I was expecting something oldschool winampish but I think I might have misunderstood what the program is.
Tap 'options', 'PTV options', 'options','create account'.
Enter the details you want to use and you're god to go.
enter your details again in the boxes and select save details and then 'connect'.
You get a list of what appears to be Euro channels, select one and 'connect'. WMP opens and starts to buffer.
That's as far as I got, nothing would play.
I have it working, but I can only find one channel: Realitatea. It's also choppy and buffering a lot. This happens using both EV and Wifi. And it's set to the lowest connection speed.
Where would I get a better channel list? As an FYI, I'm using the Win 6.1 ROM supplied by verizon.
The buffering happens because of the long distance between Romania (where the servers are) and US. We should have the service running in a few weeks in US as well.
TIP: in the mean time you can try viewing the re-runs since they are not live and although it will buffer more in the beginning, the playback should be more smooth. Another tip is to go to WMP and choose 56 kbps connection - forcing the streaming server to stream at 34 kbps (lowest speed).
For those that just want to see it as a demo and don't want to go through the hassle of creating a new account try logging on with username "test" and password "asd".
PBX TV version 1.01 released:
- fixed an issue that prevented the correct launching of WMP
For setup instructions please view the first post of this thread.
I would donate money to someone who made a remote app to foobar2000 for android.
Maybe there already is but I've searched a lot and cant find it =(
There is this http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=38114 control.dll wich handles some commands and the connection over tcp/ip.
But the rest I can't do on my own
I also would like a foobar remote. I've done the android tutorials on the sdk website but I'm by no means an experienced developer.
I thought I would base it around the android-vlc-remote interface.
Perhaps a google code project is a good idea?
I have written a remote controller for foobar2000 a while ago. It's not very beautiful, but at least it works. It's not a plugin for foobar though, it's a server program written in Java. It still just has the basic controls, but I'm about to make it good and release it after my exams (in a couple of weeks or so).
Try out foo_httpcontrol. Then there are a few templates that look good on the Android (I use the ones by KEVO).
I can't post a link, but here is the URL, but Google and there is a thread on Hydrogen Audio dot org

beware, shameless self-plug follows:
i've written an app to control foobar2k over wifi. uses the foo_httpcontrol plugin to send commands/get data.
the website is: foodroid.net84.net (has the QR-Code). or simply search for "foodroid" in the market.
please note, if you already have foo-httpcontrol installed: you also need to have the "ajquery" template installed.
if you don't have it installed: i made a setup to install foo-httpcontrol including "ajquery".
it's currently in beta, but pretty useable IMHO.

Hi there,
This software is an Antitheft and you can use it to track your device when it was lost or stolen. It works catching a formated SMS/EMail sent from any phone/computer and then receiving useful informations back.
You can use it to others objectives, like keep your eye in your child. Use your imagination!
You can set up to four emergengy contacts to receive SMS if the thief change your SIM card and you still can track your device.
The RemoteTracker for Android is an evolution from an old project for Windows Mobile 6 (If you want to see the entire history, please click here).
I'm justing starting this project. There are much more to come.
To send a command to RemoteTracker, send a SMS with the syntax: RT#(command)#(phone or e-mail)#(password). Example: RT#EGP#[email protected]#1234. This version answer the commands below:
help - send to you a list of commands available in Android platform;
ehelp - same as 'HELP', but send the list by e-mail;
fhelp - same as 'HELP', but send the list to your FTP server;
gp - try to get GPS coordinates and send back to cel number passed as parameter;
egp - same as 'GP', but send the list by e-mail;
fgp - same as 'GP', but send a file to your FTP server;
gi - Send informations about your phone: IMSI, IMEI and ICCID;
egi - Same as 'GI' but the answer goes by e-mail;
fgi - Same as 'GI' but the answer goes to your FTP server;
cb - your phone will make a Call Back to you. Just make a call and let the microphone open;
cellid - Retrieve informations (CELLID, LAC, MNC and MCC codes) about the tower your phone are connected. Send to you by SMS;
ecellid - same as 'CELLID', but the answer goes by e-mail;
fcellid - same as 'CELLID', but the answer goes to your FTP server;
secret - if you forget your password you can use this command to receive by SMS your personal secret question;
lostpass - used to receive your password if you forgot it. You must send the answer for your secret question, so, you can use the secret command to help you;
Commands available only in PRO version:
PICSON - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) watch for new photos and send them to Default EMail Address;
PICSOFF - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) stop to watch for new photos;
EPICSON - Same as PICSON, but send an E-Mail back;
EPICSOFF - Same as PICSOFF, but send an E-Mail back;
FPICSON - Same as PICSON, but send the answer to FTP server;
FPICSOFF - Same as PICSOFF, but send the answer to FTP server;
PCALLSON - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) takes a photo on a call is receive or made and send it to Default EMail Address;
PCALLSOFF - Makes RemoteTracker (only PRO version) stop to take photos on calls;
EPCALLSON - Same as PCALLSON, but send an E-Mail back;
EPCALLSOFF - Same as PCALLSOFF, but send an E-Mail back;
FPCALLSON - Same as PCALLSON, but send the answer to FTP server;
FPCALLSOFF - Same as PCALLSOFF, but send the answer to FTP server;
WIPEDATA - This command will return your device to factory default and format your SD Card.
There are another features inside RemoteTracker, like:
- SIM CARD change observer;
- Automatically restore your preferences if you reinstall it. This feature is particular useful if you have a custom ROM with RemoteTracker inside. Once configured, everytime your devices boots up, your preferences will be restored;
- Works as Device Admin, so it can't be uninstalled if you don't know the password;
- And more...
This project can be multi-language. In this version there is only English (sorry about it, my english is very bad because this is not my mother language). If you want to make your own translate, I can tell how. Very simple.
If you decide to try RemoteTracker, I would like to read reviews, comments and suggestions. Remember this is a beta version and may contain bugs. Use at your own risk and with caution.
--> It is a work in progress. In future versions I will make a lot more.

Hello friends!
To test RemoteTracker please download it from here:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk
Before your tests, please turn on the Debug option. It will make RemoteTracker write the remotetracker.txt file in the root of your memory card.
All the best,

I just released the second beta!!!
Now, RemoteTracker can automatically turn on the Mobile and WiFi network to try get location and send EMails!
For older phones RemoteTracker also will automatically turn on the GPS! Unfortunately this is impossible if you are using new Android versions (2.3.x or so).
A few minor bugs was fixed.

Joubert

GPS can be enabled in 2.3+ - but only if device is rooted. That's what it says in the Cerberus entry in "AppStore" [edit: AndroidMarket].
Hi!
Yes, if you have a rooted device is very easy to enable GPS remotely. But I do not recommend in any way for users to root the phones for security reasons.
I think you are talking about Market, not AppStore We are talking about Android not Apple

New beta 0.3!!!
Hello again,
I just released version 0.3. Now we got FTP answers back!
In Configurations I added a session to input your FTP server details. The example commands GI and GP now works with FGI and FGP as well.
Once again minor bugs was fixed. If you want to try please download the APK here: http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk
As soon as possible I'll make a TODO list and a Road Map.
All the best,
Joubert
Copying my post form the old thread so I can subscribe to this one:
Wow, nice to see this make it to Android.
Some suggestions,
1: Name it something that isn't obvious in the market. Don't want a thief easily finding it in the installed apps list. Going to the market and then buying "my apps" shows you exactly what's installed. So you should name it something totally different that nobody would suspect or want to remove. Like "memory maximizer" or something like that. Probably want to keep it in the middle of the alphabet so it's not at the top or bottom of the list.
2: Maybe make a way to remotely monitor the front/rear camera. Then you could get the thief on video (and also see if it's a crowd, or some huge guy you don't want to mess with, lol).
I'll try to help test when I get another phone and more time. Right now I don't have a lot of time to work out bugs. And more importantly I only have the 1 phone, and I can't afford to have it malfunctioning (I need it for work). I'll buy a used extra phone for testing and then I'll help test.
Thank's!
Be sure I'm worry about the Name I'll post on Market. Not now. I'm trying to make it working and I'll see what I can do later.
About cameras, yes, I think we can control them. At least take pictures and send to an e-mail account. To remotely monitor the cameras, may be I need a server to receive/transmit stream. Of course this is in my todo list

I would rather set up my own server (or even directly stream peer to peer from the device). That way you don't get stuck with hosting fees and the app doesn't die if you decide to stop supporting it someday (not that you would).
There are many possibilities. I'll try all of them.

Another beta
Hi all,
I release another beta. Once again, if you decide to try it, please download from http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk.
I edited the first post to add new features. And I have a notice...
I created a free and pro versions. The free version will have the most common commands we had in Windows Mobile. Only specific commands for Windows Mobile I can't write for Android. Pro version will have new features to come (I don't know yet).
But I don't want to charge my friends, so, if you are a beta tester or help me with anything, I'll give the PRO version for free. But it's for future now I'm engaged to finish RemoteTracker free as best as I can do.
All the best,
Joubert
Possible Bugs
Hi Joubert,
Thank you for have been developing so useful application. I believe everyone here is excited about what you are doing.
I tried your better version and here what I have to say:
1) You stated that the command format is RT#EGP#[email protected]#1234, but what if I want to use command to upload that info to FTP? Then,theoretically, I don't need to indicate my email or phone in the command. At the same time commands like "RT#FGP#1234{this is a password}", "RT#FGP##1234{this is a password}" are not recognized as valid RT commands or even failed with fatal exception. How can I upload this info to FTP, what should be the format of the command in this case?Indicating an email inside the command or phone number when sending to FTP seems a kind of redundancy.
2) Once an Fatal error appeared, it started appearing for each further VALID command which were working before. Error states the following:
Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on non-object in /celerra/webstor/root.dev/usr/sms core.php on line 234, most likely there it has some null reference there.
3) In the log file I see that its trying to send messages to invalid address substituting "@" at "?". Does it mean it sends to correct address but it writes to the logs incorrectly or is it really a bug? Because I don't receive any emails at all.For example, when sending RT#EGI#[email protected]#De41Be02AF in the logs I see that it mentioned it sent the message to "test?test.ru" instead of "[email protected]"
This is it for now. I can try to help you out with programming. I have no experience in Android development but have been developing in C# for 7+ years.
Again thanks for you effort.

You should use: rt#fgp##1234 The double # are still necessary. I'm working on a simpler syntax to be used in final version.
I'm worried about fatal errors. That's why I released beta versions. Please use Configurations Menu and check the Debug Options. After that you will see in the root of your memory card a file named remotetracker.txt. Send that file to me please.
ser-j said:
2) Once an Fatal error appeared, it started appearing for each further VALID command which were working before. Error states the following:
Fatal error: Call to a member function query() on non-object in /celerra/webstor/root.dev/usr/sms core.php on line 234, most likely there it has some null reference there.

I really don't know what is this. Please send the log file to me. I wrote RemoteTracker for Android in Java, not PHP!!!
ser-j said:
3) In the log file I see that its trying to send messages to invalid address substituting "@" at "?". Does it mean it sends to correct address but it writes to the logs incorrectly or is it really a bug? Because I don't receive any emails at all.For example, when sending RT#EGI#[email protected]#De41Be02AF in the logs I see that it mentioned it sent the message to "test?test.ru" instead of "[email protected]"

Are you sending the command using another phone, the same phone or using some WEB service (like your carrier website)? There is no code to change '@' to '?'.

Notices
I almost finished writing the commands that existed in RemoteTracker for Windows Mobile (at least the ones Android can execute).
But I'm still trying to make the security of RemoteTracker to be more robust. I had Features in Windows I can't write for Android yet:
- Prompt for password when uninstalling;
- Lock / Unlock the unit with the LOCK / UNLOCK commands;
I'm not able to use the camera without the need to provide a preview to the user. According to the source code of Android that is impossible, but I saw some programs doing that, so there is a way to do that and I'm looking for this information.
If anyone knows how please help me
All the best,

Hide Remote Tracker Application
Hi Joubertvasc:
Are you planing to make a feature to hide the Remote Tracker from the drawer and from any place of the phone. Like with the Theft Aware; you can access the application by dialing from the Phone Dialer. You enter your four code number then hit call. This will open the apllication without calling the number.
Regards;
Willie
Sounds good. I will take a look about how to do that.
Thank you.
Hi!
After a long time I'm back with a new version. This one has lots of bug fixes:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/RemoteTracker.apk
My problem now is Android 3.1 and later, because they don't intercept messages all the time. They need human access the configuration module once to work. Security issue Google said... I'm trying to find an exit.

G'day mate.
Long time no see. Great work on this app so far.
I've finally gotten around to installing it and play around with it a little.
I'm testing this on HTC One X with Revolution HD ROM
Here are a few ideas and tips for you to incorporate into your next version.
1. Include an option that allows users to set how many replies to get back from your software.
For Example. If I were to use #RT#GPS#1234, it currently only sends 1 reply. The problem with this is that most GPS units are accurate withing 5 - 10 meters. I tested it on myself where I am and it picks me up as being 2 houses down. If there was an option to send me 3 replies, in 60 second intervals, at least I would get the average GPS location of the phone. If your phone is stolen, it would also be a good idea to have unlimited SMS replies with 60 second intervals so I can get real time minute by minute location on where my phone is. Maybe this might be an idea for your Pro version. Have the option for how many replies to get and also an option for interval time between each reply.
2. Another idea for Pro version. Hide the RemoteTracker Icon from the Apps menu, or disguise it as a useless setting so if a thief were to look in the Apps menu, they wouldn't see it straight away, so wouldn't be forced to reset the ROM. Most thieves aren't smart enough to reset the phone as soon as they steal it, They normally wait till they get home..... but if he saw a tracking program, it would make them either turn the phone off right away, or reset the ROM right away.
3. I dont know much about Android programming, but an idea for capturing the Camera is to embed the photo into an MMS, or as an attachment in an email. Trying to muck around with FTP would be a waste of time because the average user wont have an FTP server, and you dont want to set up a central one because it would give every noob hacker a target to try and get into.
I will keep playing around and get back to you with any other problems or ideas for you.
Keep up the great work.
Loved the software on WinMo and looks like the Android version will be just as great.

Hello brethen, after reading through the thread some people can not use your program due to the phone structure not having certain buttons. I then remembered a program I came across long ago, when I sinned in the past, stole, illegally downloaded java mobile games and used KEmulator Lite 0.9.8 to play them (Some games didn't work so I was thinking about getting a Java Phone and something that could change screen resolution of certain phones).
The program is called Java Adapter for Mobile 2.2 and works on Windows XP.
It was this that I remembered that the program could adapt Jar games that use numpad only to take input from touchscreen phones.
Download Link for Java Adapter for Mobile 2.2
Google Mediafire gizxiznnwrx or Java Adapter for Mobile 2.2

In fact I was playing around with the and remember seeing this, but I can't remember what I wrote a while ago...I log in and then I get logged out while making this post...I should copy before posting...Oh yeah this good for Android touchscreens that don't have numpads, keyboards or left/right keys.
This is a picture of configuring the touchscreen.
Google 2mcwtmr-500x500.jpg
...Sadly though I myself can not use this program because I don't have a computer with admin rights, but keep up your works
(Please build this into the app though also cause most phones are 320px by 480px, use the 260px left for an onscreen touch d-pad or numpad and also allow keyboard configure/input...also I've seen your homepage which allows me to choose Jbed for a certain OS, but I can't find it, Please post that unless Jbed works on all Android OSs)
I haven't Tested this
I haven't tested this so don't know whether it works or not, but if anyone test Java Adapter for Mobile, have mods stick it at the top or something that let it standout. Also possibly post what you adapted

How can you help?
If you would like to help me with the packages until I release the package manager: send me screenshots from the packaged applications available in the store, as this is hard for me to do (I don't even use every application myself).
Here are some criteria for screenshots I would like you to check before sending them to me:
make the size exactly 1366x768 or 683x384, so that they don't scale bad in the screenshots control
If the app can't run fullscreen or maximized window, its always nice to have the pc property window in the background showing the Windows RT logo text
you can also make only screenshots from the application window itself and place them on a canvas complying to point 1., maybe applying a nice dropshadow
don't edit the screenshots in any other way, let them look natural
and if you can: screenshot them in a productive/properly used scenario, that's always the best to see
Mail adress should be viewable in my profile, just sent it there, or if you have mailbox space issues, sent me a link to the screenshot(s), Thanks!

Pretext
Hey guys, so i have been sitting some hours and tried to take up what djboo (thread) had no time to continue on.
I've build a little RT Desktop Store based on his idea on getting a repository to present packages and let you download them via a custom store client.
If you are confused: No this is not the store called "Subvert" build by Toxickill, which he posted on this thread.
So what's the reason for this "duplicate" ? Well i wrote my own store during the same time Toxickill did, but when i released my first screenshots, i saw he had released his first beta only a few hours earlier. We used the same UI Framework it seems, so our applications even look similar. I wrote him asking what to do, if we could work together, etc. because it would be dumb not to use our resources together, to make this work for you even better. But since he hasn't been answering my PM and I don't have the permission to post in his development thread as of yet, I thought i could at least release what i have build so far, let you review it and maybe even Toxickill will notice me And if not? Well i don't mind doing this alone since I already spent all this time doing it this way, and im so glad of being able to give back something to the community (This is my first ever publicly released application!). If you like my store (or don't like it), please comment so that I can make it better
And while I'm on the road, i can as well earn my 10+ posts, so that i can post in the development threads
If you are interested in working together: i have setup a TFS on my server which we can use for working on this project.
Ok now for the application.
Concept
Basically, it's the same concept djboo originally pointed out: have a repository with packages, let a store client download, unpack and install them. So far so good.
I've gone a bit further and tried to make the client look & feel like the normal windows store app (still a lot to be done, but it really looks alike).
The current repository is hosted on my server. While i have plans to release my the package creator too, i will first release the client, because the package creator is not that, erm, user friendly right now. In fact i have, because of my store client design, divided packaging and the repository, because the basic packages that can be build contain more that what is needed to simply install the application. After building a package you can add it to a repository (using a repository manager) which then will unwrap all that is only needed for the store client presentation of the package (tile images, screenshots, etc.) and present the rest of the package as downloadable file for the store client.
If you want to see it, here is a screenshot from my package builder application that I will release once all the applications available have been packaged and added to my repository (thinking of a simple package creation service that spawns new guids, so that ppl creating packages for the same application will get the same application guid to prevent presentation of duplicate entries by the store client)
Installation & Files
First and foremost: you need to jailbreak your device (Windows 8.0 only, hopefully 8.1 will follow soon)
To install the store client, simply download and run this Installer from my server.
The store client will get installed under your Program Files folder, creating a new Folder named "RT Desktop Store". Installation consists of 2 steps:
The Installer downloads and then and runs the launcher for the store client
The Launcher downloads the latest store client files and starts the RT Desktop store (this will happen every time you start the store client)
Packages that you install from the store will not be installed under your Program Files folder, but a Folder called "Program Files (RTDS)" (same parent directory as your Program Files folder). This is for not confusing the packages installed from the store with any existing applications in your Program Files folder. Uninstallers for all all installed packages will be held in the "__storepackages" folder of your RT Desktop Store installation directory (like C:\Program Files\RT Desktop Store\__storepackages).
If you install an app, the store client will also create a Tile on your start screen, using the command line interface of OblyTile - if a tile is supported by the package. If no tile is specified by the package, the application will start after installation, so that you can at least pin it directly to your task bar. Unfortunately, programmatic removal of tiles via OblyTile is not possible as of yet, so you would need to unpin them yourself. The same goes for checking of already existing tiles. The same tile will just get created a gain. But the will most likely be pointing to the same file, so just delete all but one of the tiles.
Shortcuts
As long as i dont release a proper installer that creates shortcuts, start menu entries and/or a live tile, you will have to pin the store client yourself. I recommend you to create a shortcut to "RTDStore.exe", not "RTDStore.Launcher.exe", because the launcher application may get renamed during an update process. That aside, it doesn't matter if you run the launcher or the store client directly, the launcher will be called either way to check for updates.
Packages
I have yet to package every application that has been ported already, but i got roughly 1/3 of them already packaged (they may not all include screenshots, tiles etc, but that will follow this week, along with the remaining ported apps i think.
Finally
Have fun and i hope everything works well. If you experience any errors, please comment here or sent me a PM, so that i can fix them and let the new versions get pushed to you by my launcher as soon as possible

NICE WORK BRO!!!
Question) after installing an app though your store, could we specify the desktop-shortcut-Icon in your package Manager? (Im asking this because some of my Projects use a cmd file to start the app, and the Icon is pretty boring)[subvert has NOT this Feature]
Cheers
Blade
EDIT:
Just tested it. it Looks AWESOME
Notes:
-No Settings available (how to add own repo-URLs?)
-We Need your Package-Manager
Improvements:
-small visual bugs while going through. Perhaps you can include a "wait-till-loaded"-function, this will solve all visual bugs and make it all soo much smoother
-Possible to add "touch-scrolling"? that would be soo cool, if we dont Need to use the scrollbar at the bottom and are able to also scroll via dragging in the middle...just like the real store
(also the scrolling brings visual bugs while moving. Bug disappear on stopping...)
I think this has got a HUGE potential! Please Keep it up the good work.

Hi Blade! (Cheers from Cologne)
If I understand you correctly, you use some kind of launcher for some of your programs, which in turn starts your program (i guess you mean something like ClassicStartMenu, where you need to restart the explorer after launching the start menu, because otherwise it won't show up in the taskbar). And because of this, you pin, of course, your launcher to the desktop instead of the program that's getting started - makes sense. In my package manager you can specify a list of applications that are included in the package and, as of now, a small and normal sized tile for OblyTile to generate the start screen tile for each application. I guess i could extend this to support desktop shortcuts, but would have to look into the windows shortcut file format (.lnk) - which I had planned anyway, because I need more control over the created tiles than simply creating them, and they're essentially .lnk files, too. Currently you can put a launcher in the package and run it via the tile that will get created for it - I will show you how that works once I've released the package manager.

As I've written in my todo-list above, distributed repositories are yet to come, I just have to find a way to make the packages unique - maybe by providing a packaging service for the package manager, that spawns a GUID for a given application name, so that the same package doesn't get listed twice in the store. But that in turn would create a new problem: how do you decide from where to get a package? As there is no real server behind an application that could work as some kind of load balancer. I would display a message from which hosting the package is being retrieved upon installation, but rather not show them as separate repositories in the store. But I think it would be reasonable to give the user the opportunity to select from which repository to get the package if he wants to install it - if a package is broken, or not available on the repository automatically selected by the store.
But furthermore, what about a package where someone includes a nice launcher and someone else doesn't? Need to think about it.
Today I will try to get over with packaging most of the remaining apps. After that's done, I will take up getting the package manager ready to release accompanied by a distributed repository mechanism, as those two go hand in hand.

Yeah I did most of it with the new async-feature of C#, for the smaller installations that works perfectly, but larger ones make the application hang - that was to be expected because async just executes on the GUI thread too, just does lazy evaluation. I already moved a part of the installation to background threads, but will move the whole thing. And the last few days were just dirty hacking, so i don't have a centralized installation overview as of yet, that's why the installation messages start bugging once you switch to another app page.

I daresay that's an issue with the not-so-lightning-fast ARM processor, as this runs perfectly fine on my desktop pc. Surely GDI+ related, but i guess there is something that can be done for some smooth animation.

For the repos:
Adding a Settings-tab with a list of repos, where only your repo is listened, but where users can add/delete custom repos.
For the "not duplicated" and the "from whom" problem:
Custom-repos could get their own tab like:
[Available(perhaps rename it to "Main") | Custom1 | Custom2 | Installed | Settings]
And Custom-Titles could been set in settings to make it look like:
[Main Apps | Blade's Apps | xda-Apps | Installed | Settings]
Totally off topic:

Your idea for the different repositories is quite nice, I will implement this soon, as it will be quite easy I think. But for the long run I will still be looking for a more integrated solution.

Sure why not! Just PM me the details of the approximate when and where and we'll go for it You can also write your PM in german

You didnt do the jailbreak then. the jailbreak works on RT 8.0 only, it does not function on 8.1 and the lumia 2520 comes pre loaded with 8.1.

Just as SixSixSevenSeven mentioned: if you didn't downgrade your lumia to Windows 8.0 (don't know if it's possible), it won't work. Maybe you ran the jailbreak, but it failed for sure. If not, this would be breaking news for Myriachan and the others xD
Short update:
I'm currently working an a packaging modification. I'll package the apps directly as .appx files using the windows store package builder shipped with visual studio. Toxickill told me, that despite this, the Original Windows store won't install the packages directly, so I'll be building an appx installer afterwards. And if we ever get the Windows Store to install our custom .appx packages without a custom installer, we will already have the correct package format Furthermore, the windows store package format is quite convenient regarding structure of package information and files. And in any case better than me trying to reinvent the package-format-wheel.
For the store client/repositoriy, the packages will be wrapped with additionaly info (images and other stuff, and I'm modifying my package builder to be a combination of the visual studio built-in package manifest editor and the devcenter web page for publishing windows store apps (some of you may know what I'm talking about, the others will just get to see the new package builder in a few days^^). This way, ppl can create packages of ported apps, without needing their own repository to publish it, but send it to someone hosting a package repository, who can simple import the package, which then gets unwrapped and put into the repository, presenting it's information to the store client.
In my opinion, microsoft has done some nice work, streamlining the app creation and publishing process for the windows store. And by trying to comply to their application, packaging, redistribution standards, I hope we may be able to get something out of them regarding jailbreak and such, making them see, that, if correctly managed, desktop apps are not lowering the user experience on windows rt at all, but are an enrichment instead

Anyway, I did get the installer to launch after signing the file using the 'signtool', however it looks like the dependencies aren't available (probably dead server). Stuck at 'Downloading Launcher' ... 0/0B
Windows 8.1 Jailbroke.
Happily, the 2017 community edition of Visual Studio still let's us compile apps as 'Any CPU', so at least I can still build stuff.

It says it can only work on Windows 8.0, not 8.1. Did you also try that? I want to try this on my RT too but I am reading into the downgrade first.
