Hello,
Which key combination allows you to quickly move from tabs to tabs in all Windows Mobile window using tabs ?
You can get an example of such window using tabs when going in your WM5 settings.
chris
On my device all I do is hit the tab key, which should move you down to the tab bar. The other option would be to just hit the tabs with your fingernail or the stylus, which is obviously the fastest thing to do on a touch screen device.
Is it possible to assign a command to a hardware key with AEkmap so that I can switch between tabs very quickly ?
I am wondering if anyone can help with this: with my other Samsung Galaxy Note products I have been able to edit the buildprop file to add this line:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
That gives me soft keys in both landscape and portrait mode.
However, with the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 when I try to add that line, I get the softkeys in landscape mode (where I really don't even need them because the hard buttons are located in landscape mode), but I can't get them to appear in portrait mode. Can anyone help me? Perhaps there is some other line in buildprops that is overriding the above softkey request.
I know that I can use pie controls (with Wanam), but I'm used to the softkeys and would prefer to use them, if at all possible.
Thanks in advance,
Barbara
Having the same issue, was just searching to see if there is any information on it. Have you found a solution ?

I wish! No, I tried a couple of other things -- for instance, I edited the DPI resolution, thinking that maybe an opaque background was blocking the portrait softkeys. I got a line to appear, but no softkeys.
I've come to the limits of my knowledge, and I'm afraid if I keep messing around I will brick something - so I jst keep hoping that someone else will chime in. I know it's got to be an easy fix.
Although.... I got a Logitech bluetooth keyboard, and the only way to hook it up is to place it in landscape mode, so because of that I rarely even hold the tablet in portrait. So I don't miss the softkeys as much.
Changing the DPI in Nova etc was the first thing I tried I don't use a keyboard case and I've never held my tablets landscape, just makes it so awkward to navigate because I always lose track of where the damn home button is. I've enabled the backlight on the hardware buttons to stay on, that helps a bit, but there's gotta be a solution
I know its not what you want but another alternative is to use something like GMD Gesture Control and forego the softkeys altogether.
I'm not sure how much it costs for the pro version but there is a light one with limited functionality. I'm using the paid version. Some gestures that I'm using include:
4 finger pinch to go Home
3 finger swipe down for Back
3 finger pinch to bring up the Menu in any app (this is a custom user gesture)
4 finger hold to Alt-Tab (switch between last 2 active apps, this is a custom user gesture)
4 finger swipe left/right to switch between applications that are running
5 finger counterclockwise rotation to turn off the screen (rarely use this, my case turns off the screen when closed)
5 finger pinch to kill an app (custom user gesture)
I also have a couple of other custom gestures to bring up certain applications like my password manager so I have quick access to my login info from anywhere.

I just came to this thread to make a post about this module, it's fantastic! I also noticed that modifying build.prop to add softkeys added another battery sucking process, this solution is much more elegant. I am going to steal some of your shortcuts
Thanks again
edit: Switchr also works great - the pro version has home and back button options

Thanks for the information. I don't think I will find solution to getting softkeys to work, but this option looks promising. Just wondering if you have any information that might help -- I tried GMD and while the "home" button on navigation bar works, and the "recents" works, both the "menu" and "return" don't respond. Any ideas? I am a total newbie at this app and hope you can at least point me in right direction.
Thanks,
Barbara

Not sure why it wouldn't work but verify that the options you want to use are turned on in the Gestures page. Just in case it helps here's my settings in GMD Gesture Control, keeping in mind that there are limitations to using custom user gestures unless one has the paid version:
Gestures page (these gestures you cant edit, you can only enable/disable them):
LaunchPad - OFF
Bottom Launch Bar - OFF
Home - On
Alt-Tab - OFF
Previous Application - ON
Next Application - ON
Back - ON
Status Bar On/Off - OFF
User Gestures page:
Created an entry called Menu using 3 finger pinch, Gesture Path = P, Action = Menu (found under Action - Application Manager), Touch Points = 3, Starting Zone = Anywhere, other options unchecked.
Created an entry called Alt+Tab using 4 finger tap and hold - Gesture Path = H, Action = Alt+Tab (found under Action - Application Manager), Touch Points = 4, Starting Zone = Anywhere, other options unchecked.
Created an entry called Kill App using 5 finger pinch - Gesture Path = P, Action = Kill App (found under Action - Application Manager), Touch Points = 5, Starting Zone = Anywhere, other options unchecked.
Created an entry called Recent Applications List using 3 finger swipe up from bottom - Gesture Path = U, Action = Recent Applications List (ICS) (found under Action - Application Manager), Touch Points = 3, Starting Zone = Bottom Border, other options unchecked.
I have a couple others but that's the basics. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much. Got it working.... love it.
I have this same problem. Soft keys only work in landscape. I had flashed the cm11 rom at one point and the soft keys actually worked at that pont but i was unable to use the s pen features such as action memo and air command with the cyanogenmod rom soi flashed the touchwiz back. And once again nosot keys on my note pro in portrait. They are actually there but it seemps as though there is like a black strip blocking them . sometimes when the screen is loading or kinda flixkers i will actually catch a glimpose ofnthe sofy keys but then they disapear . i have tried everythiñg but come upwih no solition. I found this thread and thought i had finally found the answer but instead just fpoind others habing same problem as i. But i will saythis,it being a new tablet 8t takes time for problems to be reçognized and solved. A few months back i couldnt even find a thrread like this one and yet not there is spme hope.. We gotta just keep poating and eventually someone will solve the issue
Looking to see if there is any ability to get the right capacitive key to do anything other than switch/clear open apps? I sure do miss being able to hit the right key on my old phone and it would typically bring up menu options for whatever app you happened to be in and also a shortcut into your settings when on one of the home screens. What a PITA having to go up to the top right side of each app, hit the 3 little menu dots and change menu options that way.
Anybody figure any work-arounds or other 3rd party apps that can help out with this?
It would be nice if Alcatel would allow the right capacitive key to access the settings or menu of an app with a long hold of the button. Short hold of the button accesses the open apps. That would be intuitive. My old phone was the opposite, a short tap would open a backdoor to menu options and a long hold would open the active apps for dismissal or switch.
Very much an extra effort reaching up to the right when in Chrome to have to go to your bookmarks...that's just one example.
Any 3rd party launchers include something of this ability?
Also a PITA having to reach allllllll the way up to the top of the phone to pull down the notification panel. My old phone with KK 4.4.4 all you had to do was slide down anywhere on the home screen and the notification panel would come down. Vice versa, sliding up on a home screen would open the backdoor to your settings menu.
These are my two biggest *****es 24 hours into having this phone. Everything else I've tried so far seems pretty good.
I can propose solutions to two of your problems ..
(a) For bookmarks, could a bookmark widget help ? I believe Chrome has its own , but you could also use the stock widget and have it open any browser. Of course this only works in you are not already inside the browser. You can also try a browser with gestures. I think dolphin can do that.
(b) For the notification shade, you can use a launcher than offers a swipe down gesture. I use Apex which has gestures for free, and I have swipe down set for the notification shade.
Cool, thanks! Hopefully Alcatel is taking notes for future updates?
Did your phone have a custom room or Launcher? Those are not standard gestures for kit kat or stick Launcher.

I love the style of Flyme on Meizu phones. They use one home button for back, home actions and swipe up for recent apps.
I am trying to make the controls on my Samsung S7 like its designed in Flyme.
I want to use only my HOME button, single tap for back action, single press for go home action, and still be able to use the fingerprint feature.
The issue here is, the RessurectionRemix ROM I tried only supports actions for pressing the button.
I have found, that app "easyHOME" enables the touching feature for home button, but I would like to have a more reliable solution like xPosed module.
Another feature I looking for is to show recent apps by simply swiping from the very bottom of the screen up. Do you know any way of enabling it?
Is there a gesture or the other way to activate split screen when using navigation gestures? Can't find anything...
I don't think there is gesture to do it directly, but you can activate it when you go to recent apps (swipe from bottom up), long press on app, split screen.
