Fixing generic android laptop? - General Questions and Answers

I'm not sure if this is the right section, or event he right forum for this kinda thing.
I was asked by my Cousin to fix his laptop, which turned out to be a generic android laptop. The problem is, it doesn't boot. All the screen shows is black with info on it
It says on the screen:
Android OS: 4.0
Kernel: 3.0.8
Build Number: V1.3.0
The bottom has a sticker which has
CPU: WM 8850 1.5GMHz
Display: 6.98" TFT 800*480
Memory: DDR 512MB
There's hardly any information on it.
Any help would be great, sorry if this is the wrong place for this kind of thing.

[Q] Drivers for un-branded Tablet

Hi there friends,
I recently bought a cheap tablet that I suppose came from China.
I cannot post a link to the device but if one were to google "trademe" ( a new zealand auction site ) and in the search box type " 459557872 " it would link to the sale page.
In the system info the only description is model; A710
Specs as follows;
-Main IC: High performance 1.3GHz Allwinner Tech BOXCHIP A10 Cortex-A8 CPU.
-Screen 7 inches 16:9, 800 * 480 ,Capactitive five point touch screen
-Memory DDR3 512M
-Flash 8G capacity
-Storage Extend 4GB-32GB SD/TF -Support
-WiFi 802.11b/g/n
-Front Camera 1.3M
-G-Sensor All gravity induction
-OS Android 2.3.4
- 7" high sensitive 5-point capacitive touch screen.
-Battery 3000mAH
Currently running Android 2.3.4, but i would like to put ICS on it somehow, but this is for another day.
I would like to root this device so i can use a proxy at my school but Windows cannot find a driver for it and therefore Superoneclick does nothing but stop responding.
There is no branding anywhere on the tablet or the box it came in.
Where would i find the necessary driver for this device?
Thanks in advance,
Corbin

[Q] Android Tablet: Gpu/display resolution mismatch?

Hi to everyone: I'm a newbie on this forum and in general with android platform.
I've recently installed a few benchmarking apps on a Trekstor xiron 10.1 tablet ( target data : 4cores 1.6 Ghz, 2gb ram 1200x800 IPS))
I obtained contradictory device info:
antutu: cpu =rk3188; display 1200x800
quadrant: cpu=armv7 4cores rk30board; display=1280x752
cpu-z: cpu rk3066 rev. r3p0 4 cores; displa=1280x752
Because I don't want to disassemble the tablet to solve the mistery, I decided to test at least the display to see if I was able to argue some more infos. On the lagom dutch website I found a full set of pages to test LCD display.
I tested both the Treskstor tablet and an older Mediacom 101s2, a sort of rebranded Sanei N 10 (rk3066, 1gb ram, 1200x800 IPS).
Apart a reasonable difference in brightness, contrast and colour setting, I discoverd the trekstor tablet shows a moire' pattern in a dedicated test image (lagom.nl/lcd-test/clock_phase.php) and this is a symptom of the graphic adapter setting doesn't match the native display resolution. In the same tests the Mediacom display works correctly.
In the normal use, comparing the two displays, the mediacon one seems "crisper".
So my question is: is it possible such a kind of mismatch between the gpu resolution and the display resolution? Can I solve it in some way?
Thank you in advance
P.

Bliss for x86 downloads?

I apologize if this is a crazy question. I'm tired and my eyeballs are seeing double. I'm looking for the best Bliss x86 ROM to try with a Dell Venue 11 Pro 5130. This is an Intel Atom x86 tablet with Windows x86; but, I have managed to install android-x86_64-8.1-rc2.iso in a dual boot scenario. Not everything works in Android; so, I thought I would try BLISS. I could really use some Bliss atm. For the life of me I cannot find where to download the Bliss x86 "Pie" build. I have read enough to understand "Oreo" is no longer under development. The downloads section on the Bliss web page list ROM's from "Berkeley - X00T"; but, none of them indicate they are for "x86 PC's(Laptops/Tablets).
Thanks in advance for a helpful suggestion.

Support desired px3 update

Hello,
First of all, I would like to let you know through this way that English is not my native language and therefore the sentences and words will not always be fluent.
Secondly, I don't know if I posted this question in the right subtopic. Moderators, please feel free to move this question.
I recently purchased a 2012 Volkswagen Polo. This, when purchased, already had an Android tablet built in. I have no idea what model tablet it is but I have the following information available:
Model:
px3 (1024x600 O)
Android version:
7.1.2
Level of Android security patch:
May 5, 2017
Kernel version:
3.0.101+
[email protected] #894
Thu Jan 25 18:26:25 CST 2018
Build number:
px3-usrdebug 7.1.2 NHG47L eng.hct.20180131.123949 test-keys
MCU version:
MTCE_GS_V2.83_3
Apr 13 2018 21:00:04
CPU:
ARM Coretex-A9 @1.6GHz (x4)
Memory:
2048 MB
I was curious if I can find a newer firmware version somewhere for this tablet incl. instructions on how to install it.
I have sporadic problems with the radio (it sometimes goes louder unwanted or forgets my set favorites). In addition, I see several videos passing by where the interface is just a bit more slick and updated.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance and apologies if I seem a bit stupid / ignorant (I am however an ICT-er so I understand somewhat how certain things work).
You might be better off replacing the unit.
You could replace the SOM with a PX6 board (4gb+ ram) and then upgrade to Android 11, but these MTCx units remain behind on what is offered by the FYT units with UIS7862 processors.
