[Q] Camera storage location using 4.4.2 KitKat CyanogenMod 11 - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Just installed the latest official CyanogenMod on my S3. Only problem I have is now there is no option to set the camera's storage to the external SD card like there used to be (I came from jelly bean). I have about 2GB free on internal and 20GB free on external, soo... kinda need to change that Any tips?

You could try Pictures2SD module for Xposed. Looks like there are a few users who had success with it on KitKat 4.4.2 but it is clearly stated in the OP that it is not compatible.

Thanks, I guess for now I'll just have to keep my storage down on pics/videos unless I give that a try

Install that camera mod and you can change the storage location to external. I'm running it on Hellkat 4.4.2 and it works fine.

Uh, well that caused camera app to be completely gone for me. Any way to restore it? That post says to just rename Gallery2, but it was already renamed to that after a reboot, and I still have no camera at all now
EDIT never mind, got it back, guess I'll just deal with it as is for now.

CM11 M3 (assuming nightlies as well) had this built in. Settings->More Options>Storage.

Hmm yeah just Touch Focus Duration, Picture Quality, and Anti Banding in mine. I'm still running 1/20/2014 though. It seems like every build since then http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2558946&page=177 has had a bunch of problems, so I haven't updated.

This setting is indeed there in the Google Camera app on CM11M3. It is not present in the new one, that you can get from the Play Store.
Is the setting allowing to store on external SD in the “old” Google Camera a CM modification?

Don't worry buddy there is one way --- go to settings of System NOT of camera -> DEVICE -> Storage . Then check the Default Write Disk as 'SD card' and you are done.. Enjoy..

[Q] Pics to Ext. SD Card on JB.

Hey XDA,
I've read a lot of comments and questions about a certain setting in the JB camera that would save pics to the external SD card automatically and all threads have said that it's not possible. I found a thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838903) in the Sprint Galaxy S III forums about a zip that is for JB or ICS camera that has the option to do just this. Has anyone tried this? Will it work for our Blaze on any ROM? I'm running AOKP JB and wanting to know if it works and if safe. Thanks everyone!

Wasn't this fixed in the nightly? The last time I read the current bug list in the thread the only remaining problem was with the camera flash.

There was nothing to actually "fix" as a bug per se... the included camera on the CM Nightly, was not designed with the option to change storage from internal to external SD cards. The easy fix, is to download from the Play store ICS+ Camera app, or JB+ Camera app, which are essentially the tweaked camera apps that have the option to select storage from internal to external SD cards.
A Million Thanks!

This is why XDA is the best! Works flawlessly. After a reboot (not sure if it was needed but did anyway) the pictures are stored in the SD card! If there was a million thanks button, you would get it!! Thanks clicked and thanks said!

Acer Liquid E1 Custom Kernel by: Dr-Shadow
This good man ported a custom kernel from another device to work with ours. Please give this man some thanks for his hard work!!
Check it here!
Acer Liquid E1 Rom collection
New update: I was angry, threw my phone against the wall. This broke while doing so:
* sim card slot (no more 2g/3g data)..no signal whatsoever
* sd card slot damaged, not completely dead
* camera engine is messed
Therefor: I quit developing/updating the roms I have ported/made so far. Everyone (including other MTK porters, and everyone else who could use my roms) is allowed to take my rom, modify it, re-upload it (if you edited it ofcourse) and all other stuff you wish to throw at the roms. If you do, please quote me in the credits...you know..the usual...

The roms that are not suitable for daily use will not be uploaded! This is so I can take my time to work on them, without people asking for bugfixes or anything. Also, if you want to mod or port my rom to your device; please ask first!
Here's what you need to do to install any of these roms:
Install CWM recovery:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39293790&postcount=2
Place the rom.zip on external SD card
Wipe data/cache/dalvik
Install rom
press thanks
As always, let the Rom settle for about 48 hours. Don't expect the rom to be at best when you just flashed it.
If you encounter a problem with my roms, I'm happy to help. But please, be specific with the problem you have: what did you do (the steps you took untill the problem occured),what rom, all the stuff that might help.

Ok I put it here because I have to. Upon flashing my rom on your phone, or doing anything root related with your phone; you have void your warranty!

I haven't made the 'Rom' available for download yet. I'm testing if I can make a flashable zip first.
If that works, I will make a zipped rom, that's easier to install, and it's more...well then it looks more like a rom isn't it?
subscribe to the thread, I'll upload it shortly!

Great News!
Better Camara and Batt is priority for this moment, for me is important too better Manager of Storage Memory and SD Card, anyway great job. For my conclusion i have Dual SIM and batt working the same for one SIM or two. I dont use games, but phone and apps working smooth. Great GPS (30 sec with Maps), Sound :good: and i need little more option in Setting (like in CM) for example wakeup phone with Volume Button
How do you mean better memory management? As in, more free memory, or faster app loading and such? I've put in a few tweaks for that too, i might make a list. As for screenshots, ill make some in a moment and upload it

Cwm is really hard to do. I'm not a developer at all. Also this is an mtk phone, not very popular in dev land bacause there are so many phones for it. Your best bet is to ask CM directly at this point.

Yeh i know, not implemented yet.
Hi @Alberto96, as I said in the CM general discussion thread I have noticed a buzz in the earpiece even with not in a call. I found that it's a know defect at least for Nexus 4 (https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39936). But, while searching about this I found something about in call sound quality in droidforums.net (http://www.droidforums.net/forum/an...better-call-audio-how-change-voice-codec.html), it suggests to use another voice codec. I know the thread is old (2009), but I hope it can help.
Edit: Also found this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611599, relating the problem to kitkat update.
I don't know if it's a bug, but in some submenus of some configs when I press back or touch in the up left corner to go back for previous menu don't work, they just go for general config menu.
Example: Config. -> Screen and lights -> notification led if I press back it open Screen and lights menu again but themes menu and maybe some others don't work like this, it open Config menu directly.
How to restore CM apps
Hello everyone,I flashed CM 11 a couple of days ago and after that I flashed PA Gapps (Art + Dalvik) I knew that they would overwrite CM's apps but now I'm not satisfied with the apps and I want to restore to CM apps, what should I do?I tried reflashing CM rom but it didn't work.I also tried disabling gapps and installing CM apps and this also didn't work.

- Format /system
- Reinstall CM ROM
- Do not flash Google Addon
Done!
Well,I should do a backup cause I don't want to lose my apps data and then format. That's alot of work I wanted to know if there's an easier way or not ty anyway

[DISCUSSION] CM11 Weekly builds by Arslan Kirmani

Hello guys! This is my first post on XDA page so I would like to open a discussion about CM11 Weekly builds by Kirmani Arslan.
So,lets start.
For me: I tried every build (from 1. to 5.) and I can easily say that ROM is really smooth because of no FPS capping like on other CM11 ROMs.
Build no.1 Was the beggining of development of CM11 for our little Pico.
After a week using it,I found it very smooth, snappy and stable. Everbody started to using it. It showed how KitKat is used by legacy devices.
I found only one bug. Rebooting. After every reboot,my data gets lost and my phone starts again. This was very annoying so I was just waiting for a newer build. Finally,Arslan released a new build.
Build no.2. Devs are making huge progress by fixing almost all bugs. But they are still showing on testing. ROM keeps to be silky smooth. Bugs I found are: wallpaper managment.
Everytime I reboot,my wallpaper gets zoomed for some reason. Also, devs fixed the data loss problem appearing on previous build. I was very pleased to use the ROM.
Build no.3. Kirmani Arslan,Sachin Thomas and Terminal Unity (known as GalaxyFreak) are made ART compiler avalible for Pico users. Thats a huge suprise for Pico users. Also, they upgraded the Android version from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3. Cool things about this build are:they moved from ARMV6 sources to ARMV7. That makes our phone snappier in form of performance and we can use ART! Also,we got the new blue dialer appearing in 4.4.3. Bugs I found: Really annoying graphical glitches, They are appearing as lines on screen when you touch it. I was hopping to fix that and VOILA! They were fixed in next build.! But not completely.
Build no.4. Devs put CM upstream so that made ROM pure CyanogenMod experience. Also,in build no.2,S2W and DT2W toggles were fixed so you could use them but a bug showing with using them. You can use them only if both of them are enabled. They also put a soundimage of HTC One M8. Problems (not bugs) occuring are: Sound volume at call, speaker volume at call and random reboots. That was not so annoying because reboots happened one in two days. But the call saund was not so good.
And latest BUILD no.5. They made huge progress. After putting it to CM upstream sources and fixing all display bugs, now they made sound quality great (but volume still remains the same). Thats not all, they updated Android version to latest KitKat: 4.4.4. That brought OpenSLL fixes, new web search engine and really cool CM wallpapers.Almost no bugs at all. Finally, they managed RAM usage to make phone more usable and making it as my daily driver. Now it is smoother, snappier more stable and no bugs. You can multitask more because of RAM management.
Comment your experiences!
Weekly Build 5 is obviously much better than other builds. :good: I like build 5 the most. Only one thing I didnt understood is the SD swap option in performance, what it is and how to use it?

In Linux when we create a partition There is a option on creating swap memory.. Which acts as a virtual memory.. Means you can say virtual RAM.. When a physical RAM is not available.. the app will use virtual ram to run..
You can use it only when you have swap partition in you card..
You can get the swap memory but you need to partition your card again..
You can do it vis recovery or minitool..

I dont think its related to the class of your card.. Might be due to problems in your partition.. Format the partition in your PC.. Then install apps.. Always make sure you clean wipe everything before flashing ROM.. Unclean flashing sometimes also leads to reboots..
Partition is the important thing.. Even if you use class 10 card..

You can download and install cPanel for Cody Kernel and disable BLN notifications. I also did the same thing which drastically improved the battery performance.

I have used many roms...see pico isn't my primary phone and I don't want the phone capabilities but only a proper android device with apps working...I always flash roms after wiping everything data, system, cache, dalvik, ext etc...I don't think it's the problem of wiping...also when I flashed this CM rom,my phone got fixed from following bugs:
•When locking the system locks but screen turns on(i thought it was the switch but now it's working wonderfully)
•The system is very much responsive.
I have only formatted and partitioned the sd card through recovery (don't have a card reader)

You can download and install cPanel for Cody Kernel and disable BLN notifications. I also did the same thing which drastically improved the battery performance.

galaxyfreaks CM11 RC2 Build
As I`m a new user I can`t post in the "Dev" thread, so can someone please pass/post this information on to galaxyfreaks thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2535682
The playback of recorded footage from the camera has green screen, audio sounds can be heard, other than that and the already known bug of the browser not working its a great rom, also the battery lasts longer now aswell since the removal of device settings (bln,s2w etc)
Thats normal

Green screen is normal. I know that browser and vieo recording are not working but Terminal (galaxyfreak) told me he will release fix very soon so dont worry. as for the battery,it has the best backup among cm11 roms!

[Q] Is 4.4.4 worth it? (Does it take up more space? Unrooted)

I am wondering if updating to 4.4.4 is worth it, or if it will take up more internal storage (and if so, how much more).
At this time, I have not rooted, and I may not root unless it will really free up a ton of space.
I am very conscious of the amount of internal storage available, so I want to ask about storage before I update.

New firmware fixes music playing lag through headphones. That was really annoying and it is important to me that it's fixed.
New firmware fixed music stopping problem and fixed themes elements not changing while applying a theme. And takes space same as the previous firmware.. But by root you can release a lot of storage.... even after installing huge games you can still have about 1.4 to 1.5 gb free on your internal storage...

Hello there, if you update to 4.4.4 and root, you can download link2sd app and free up some internal space(cleaning unused apps, etc) and then moving some apps in internal (for UPDATED integrade into system) and then u will have 1gb free for what u want!
